Aug 2017 Mummies

Hello everyone!

This is my first pregnancy and I would appreciate your kind guidance and advice for our impending motherhood!

Tested for pregnancy on the following dates:

19 Dec 2016 @ Raffles Medical - Negative
(There was a faint double line but Doctor tested as negative due to my irregular periods.)
22 Dec 2016 @ Home using Clearblue - Positive
26 Dec 2016 @ Home using Clearblue - Positive

According to the EDD calculator online, my EDD would be on 25 Aug 2017, estimated to be about 6 weeks old now!

Upcoming Gynae appointments:

30 Dec 2016 with Dr Lee Keen Whye of Gleneagle Hospital
14 Jan 2017 with Dr Benjamin Tham of TMC

My first gynae preference was actually Dr Benjamin Tham but due to his busy schedule, I am only able to schedule an appointment with him on mid January (I'm about 8 weeks by then). Therefore, to have a peace of mind on my baby's health status, I've decided to consult Dr Lee Keen Whye first as he was one of the few gynaes available this week. I was also considering Dr Adrian Tan of TMC but his earliest appointment was on 10 Jan 2017. As there seem to be more better reviews for Dr Tham as compared to Dr Tan, I've decided to choose Dr Tham instead. Would be sharing with ya all my reviews and antenatal packages cost for these two doctors when I'm done. :D

Anyone using the same gynaes here? Could you please share your reviews too? Thanks!

Hi xueeternity and congrats! Our edd quite near!

So good how you have everything planned already, I'm still taking my own sweet time to figure out what I'm doing haha.

Dr Tham seems quite popular, have seen his name being mentioned a number of times in different forums. Please do share package costs when you get them, thanks!

Congrats to you too, NataRee!

Sure! Will definitely share their package costs once I have it on hand.

As of now, I only have their consultations and scans quotation for first time consultations as provided by their nurses:

Dr Adrian Tan
Consultation - $168+
Scan - $78

Dr Benjamin Tham
Consultation - $150 - $200
Scan - $80

Dr Tham allows us to save our ultrasound pictures and videos of our babies on our own thumb drive FOC. However, his waiting time is about an average of 2 hrs for each appointment. Goodness.

Dr Lee Keen Whye

Consultation - $150 - $200
Scan - $80

Hi all, heartiest congrats to u!
Wanted to ask if anyone has experience with Dr Lee Jiah Min at KKH as their gynae? Thought of seeing her.

Hi all! First post here haha. It's my first time and I found out last Wednesday via pregnancy kit, took a blood test at GP on Friday and confirmed on Saturday! I'm 5w3d now which puts my edd at 27 August and hubby and I are totally clueless about the next step. Probably should be reading more on this forum before I start asking questions but I'm too excited!

How did you guys choose a gyne? We were thinking just book an appointment at KKH first and see how? Or are we supposed to choose a hospital and stick with it throughout? Also at what point should we actually see the gyne, is 5w3d too soon to see anything in my womb? Don't want to waste a trip if we would have better luck like in week 7 or 8. Was hoping to get an ultrasound before telling our parents, not sure if that will take long?

Sorry for the barrage of questions but TIA!

Edit - DH just called KKH for me and the staff said should wait till week 8 if want to see heartbeat. Seems long. :( Was hoping for week 6.

Also think will go polyclinic to get a referral to KKH since am of the opinion that first trimester still early and don't need a fixed gyne? Anyone disagree? Do share any advice thanks.
Hi! I asked for a referral to kkh through polyclinic. I was week 4 when I asked for a referral, saw kkh at week 5. Couldn't see baby through the transabdominal scan and could only do the transvaginal scan. But I was very happy to see that my baby is safe and implanted correctly at my uterus. By week 7, can see the heartbeat already.

First pregnancy. Tested positive on xmas eve. LMP 4 Nov. According to online calculator I am 7 wks along..how accurate I have no idea??? as my AF is often late and so my cycle on av. is abt 35 days. Stomach looks bloated (cos i dont think is the bump yet until it looks like i am a few mths old). Having either gag reflux or have feeling of a constant big burp in my chest that I can't get it out. No vomitting or serious MS yet.

Have make an appt with Dr Ben Tham (because of gd reviews) for 1st visit on 10th Jan. (assuming online calculator is correct, I will be 9 wks along by then. Hope can see some news. I was told to expect a 2hr wait. Omg. I do not have to sit there and wait for 2hrs bah? Can i go jalan jalan first? LOL.

Hello, petiteG!

I've booked an appointment for Dr Tham too! But mine is on the 14th of January.
The nurse told the me the exact same thing about the two hour wait.
As per the nurse's exact words " Dr Tham very popular one ... so you have to wait for around 2hrs to see him ... "
Hopefully, it will be short for us. Heh. :p

Hi everyone, this is my 3rd pregnancy. I already have 2 lovely boys at 3yo and 18m.
I chose to continue returning to my usual gynae Dr Adrian Tan @ ACJ.
Went for first visit to confirm yesterday, and was in my 5wk (saw water sac).
Next schedule will be in 2weeks, and hopefully by then my beanie will develop heartbeat.
My EDD is end Aug.

I requested for duphaston pills, and progesterone jab (though wasn't spotting).
It somehow make me feel safer because of previous miscarriages.
Anyway the progesterone jab cause no harm, and support the pregnancy better.

By right I should be in my 6w5d. But I do not feel MS at all.
No vomiting, no dizziness, no nausea.
I used to feel very MS for my first 2 pregnancies starting from wk5 onwards.

For the whole of last week, I only felt very bloated and "heavy".
It feels nothing like what I experienced from my previous pregnancies.

Maybe it should be coming? Although every pregnancy is supposed to be different. My 3rd one and I have just finish my round of MS. Haha...

I'm so envious! Mine still yet to start.

I'm just surprised that this time is totally different.
I usually felt very sick in my previous pregnancies, and nausea always begins very early stage.
Oh well, maybe I should consider being lucky this time. hahaha....

hi, just tested positive not too long ago.. will be seeing gynae in late jan.. probably an august bb too!
kindly advise if there is already a fb group that i am missing?

By any chance were your first 2 children girls? Not sure if there's any scientific proof but I have a number of friends and family who claim that girls are more likely to cause MS than boys haha.

Also have two friends whose MS started only in the 2nd trimester. Don't be envious of people with MS, why would anyone want MS? =X

First 2 are boys. Hahaha... I was envious because xl_mum MS was over.
Not because she have MS.

The nurse asked me when is the date of my LMS before giving me my appointed day and time, she didn't gave me any options to choose too. Yup, it's my first visit! :)

Hi hippo78! May I know what is the Progesterone jab for?
My gynae only prescribed me Duphaston but he didn't mentioned anything about this jab ...

Usually this jab is determined by the doctor or requested by the MTB?

Hehe... actually I mean that I jus done my round of ms of the day. I'm still having it daily. But cos it's my 3rd pregnancy and previous 2 also ms, so resigned to fate that pregnancy = puking time. I have a boy and a girl, both time also have MS.
The jab is supposed to stabilize the pregnancy if one is found to have too low Progesterone level...
I had to do the jab this time round. My previous two pregnancy was ok. I'm praying hard the doc will stop my jab soon. It's painful (to me).

If there is light bleeding, or spotting during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, normally gynae will prescribe Duphaston and administer progesterone jabs bi-weekly or weekly (depends on condition) to treat and stabilise the pregnancy.

I took Duphaston and the jabs in my two pregnancies due to spotting before.
They are actually progesterone supplements to help maintain your progresterone levels.
I see no harm taking, so I requested from my gynae.

Oic. Lucky you. Hopefully can 'see' something during the first visit and hope all is well and can find out how far along I am exactly.
