Hi, My bb had his 1st jab in the hospital, I'm taking him for a 2nd jab soon. But realise some places had 2nd jab done on 1mth while others at 1.5mth.Any idea the difference?

I'm staying in ponggol. Any good PD to recomend around that area? Thanks

Hi minny

I didn't know that some places do the 2nd jab at 1.5 mths - I don't think there's any difference, you may want to call up the clinic to check anyway.

Dr Vanessa Tan from Kidslink Children's Clinic is very good - her contact is as follows:

Blk 237 Compassvale Walk #01-532 S(540237)
Tel:63884466

The nurse will usually apply a little local anaesthetic cream on the baby's thigh and put a little plaster over it before the consultation so that the jabs are painless!

I think it depends on when you bring your bb in. I thot 2nd jab for 6 in 1 is at 1.5 or 2 months. better check with pd when you make appointment!

My son got 2 jabs at TMC. Think the months of each jab might be different. My son had his last jab when he is in 5th mth. My friend's last jab appt is in his 6th mth.

My son cried a bit for first few jabs but he didn't cry at all for his last jab. He just twitch a bit.

I send both my sons to Dr Saw

Saw Baby & Child Clinic
Address : Blk 681 Hougang Ave 8 #01-827 Singapore 530681
Telephone : 6386 4538

He is a very patient and nice doctor.

Hi, can give the charges for the clinic at Hougang and campassvale? Hw much is the consultation charges? Currently I went Raffles Hospital and the consultation is $63 liao. Thanks

hi sloppy,
would also like to know more about the dr saw. He was recommended by my fren. I have yet to visit him but I heard that his clinic is very crowded.
How are his charges like?

Hi minny, my bb's 'original' PD, appointed by my gynae was at Mt E, and thus, after her follow-up check up 1 wk after her birth, we decided to change to the one near our place. The clinic we now go to is @ Rivervale Mall. The PD whom we are currently consulting is Dr Allyson Tan and she's very informative and responsive(she returns my every call and answered my queries patiently). She's a Consultant Paediatrician and also a Neonatologist.

Anyway, here's what I've posted at the "5-in-1 vacinations for baby" thread which u might find useful:

Our Singapore Law requires us to bring our children for these 'preventive jabs' thus it is given free at polyclinics.

The 5-in-1 is basically a term used to describe the 'new improved drug' used for these 'preventive jabs'.
As wif the old drug, U will still have to bring your child for his/her jab on his/her 3rd, 4th and e 5th mth when u take the 5-in-1 package.

The difference btwn e 5-in-1 jabs n the old type is that it's an improved drug(but it's been used in Spore for more than 10 years already) and bbs taking this new drug jabs will less likely to develop fever(abt 25%) and if so, the fever usually will NOT be higher than 38 degrees. However, with the old type, babies have a higher percentage of 75% of getting fever and the fever will be pretty bad one.
My sis and her neighbour(a nurse assisting her GP doc husband) commented that, wif the old drug, the percentage is more like 90%+ hahahhaha and they both agreed that the fever is really alot worser.
As for the 6-in-1(which is relatively new in Spore, abt 2 yrs here but more in originating/other countries), they combined some jabs together, thus U'll only need to bring your child 3 times Instead of the usual 3+2(Heb B 2nd & 3rd dose), total 5 times but usually the 3rd dose of Heb B can be taken with the last dose of 5-in-1.

The jabs taken at the child's birth @ e hosp are Heb B first dose + BCG.

Hi,

I think there is a protocol which clinics have to follow. Like when I took my girl to a Polyclinic to take her second jab three days before her appointment at a private clinic, but the nurse at the Polyclinic refuse to give it to her cos she told me they have to follow WHO guidelines. I even told her that my baby's ped said my gal can take her jab up to one week before and after her appointment, but still she refuse.

In the end, I went back to the Polyclinic three days later on a new appointment.

One thing about Polyclinic is that you have to queue for number, but they let babies see doc first. Compared to a private ped, I think the wait is shorter and cheaper.

Oh...and they do not have the 6-in-1 jab, I guess cos its a new drug?

whether pte or govt, the baby will 'see' the doc first

The difference is that yr child's development assessment will be fully conducted by the PD in a pte clinic(was told that the nurse will perform some basic development assessment at Some polyclinics, esp when the clinic is crowded). In any case, the fees for the 5-in-1 pkg is not much more as compared btwn polyclinic n most pte clinics. The best advantage of gg to a pte PD is that they are 'specialists' and also u can call them when in doubt(unless u get one not so friendly one).
I was told by e PD that it is usually better to wait for 1 mth for the next jab, in case of any 'implications'.

Yes, Polyclinics do not have 6-in-1 jabs yet but it is relatively cheaper than e 5-in-1 pkg as yr visits to the PD's clinic is lesser, thus lesser consultations.

Hi,

Dunno abt the baby have to see doc part, but when my gal went back to polyclinic for her subsequent 2nd & third jabs, she did not have to see doc. Just proceed to vacination room after getting number. The nurse also prescibe fever medicine for her just in case.

help! I miss the 1st jab for 6 in 1 vaccination for my baby. Just found out from my PD nurse that it should be taken at 6th weeks! Now my baby is already 2 1/2 months old. what should i do now?

So sorry mum05 a friend of mine another mom told me that in 6-in-1 jabs there's a risk of your child becoming autistic. Is that a fallacy?

My ger ger got her 6-in-1 jabs when she was 2mths old. Never heard tat it will cause Autism leh? The doc said is for gd, and can save the hassle of going to hospital for jab. Now there's even a 7-in-1 jab..

when is the earliest date for 6-1 jabs ? where can jabs the cheapest ? my son is 1 month old. i am confused. my hep b 2nd dose still not done yet

Hi all

i think the earliest date for 6 in 1 jab is at 2mths old? any one knows how much it cos if done at PD? so for 6 in 1 jab also must jab few batchs?? so confusing. hope someone can enlighten us. thz

DaBee,

I paid $150 (excludes GST) per jab for the 6-in-1 which includes consultation as well. Done at AMK Singapore babies & child clinic.
If u are having 6-in-1 means total 3 jabs in diff mth.

Hi all,

My girl had her 6-in-1 taken at a GP, cost me $95 per jab including consultation. The jabs to be taken during her 2nd, 4th & 6th month.

Caymom, the 18mth booster jab is not part of 6-in-1.

My ger took the 6 in 1 fr AMK polyclinic at 320 including consultation (somehow, i feel polyclinic doctors (ladies) there are not professional and friendly enough), the nurses giving the jab are so..............much better, friendly and gave many useful advises. she also doesn't hv any fever after the jab, only v sleepy.

my boy took the 6 in 1 jab at the clinic near my house, only S$270 nett for all 3 jabs. So much cheaper than take in polyclinic.

Hi

My baby is coming to 1 month old. I am looking for a good GP who can give the 6-in-1 jabs for her at reasonable price. Any recommendation, preferably marine parade/eunos area? My email: [email protected]. Thanks v much

for 6-in-1s, the polyclinics actually charge a very reasonable price and are quiet efficient about it.

does bb take any jabs in the ist mth? if wan to take 6 in 1 is it in 2nd mth? how much does it cost in polyclinic?

i have the same query as mcr.

my bb going to take his 6-in-1 jab this mth end too. (end of his 2nd mth)

Wondering how much is polyclinic charging?

Hi,

polyclinic charging at S$320 for 3 jabs. (if still no changes since few months ago).

My bb took his 6 in 1 jab at clinic near my house, he took 1st jab at 1.5mth old, then 2nd jab the 3rd mth, and last jab when he's 5 mth old.

I paid S$270 for 3 jabs at the clinic near my house. Cheaper than at polyclinic.

my girl had her hep B 2nd dose on 16 may then she will be going for her 5in1 / 6in1 1st dose on 18 july. only the 3rd dose of the 5in1/6in1 will include Hep b 3rd dose. so does that mean the 1st 2nd dose is 5in1 and 3rd dose is 6in1.
im abit confuse.
i brought her to ployclinic

i think for polyclinic, they only have 5 in 1. the last dose, it's actually 2 injections (5 n 1 + hep b). i checked the price for polyclinic 5 in 1, it's $87+ per jab. hep b is $16+ per jab.
