2016/07 July babies

Verluv yea still can carry baby as I will use my right palm to lift my baby head up and place it on my injured left arm. this can prevent putting pressure on my left hand wrist.

My baby easily get shock by sound and cried. Got to carry him up to soothe him before put back to cot. Sometimes he will suddenly cry extremely loud and Cl told me he is having nightmare.

Hello, thanks for sharing. Much appreciate.

We are more kan cheong, we ask poly clinic got photo therapy machine, KKH say poly clinic no have such equipment, so we decide to go to KKH to do the check instead, the clinic is located next to the private suite, and the bill is like $100+. You did the smarter thing to do it at poly clinic. I am suppose to go back again for another check on friday, maybe i will go to poly clinic instead. How your experience at polyclinic, is the wait long? Thanks

All depends on luck. First time I went with newborn (Day 3), we were given priority queue for everything.

Second time was done within 1hour.

Third time - faint. Waited from 10am to 1pm. All because the doctor was slow. Many parents complained and all of us got redirected to see other available doctors. The rectifying action was very prompt after complain.

Anyhow, it all depends on ur kid condition. If u think the baby needs more attention, maybe going to hospital might be a better choice. For my face, I don't think got jaundice and major follow-up. So I chose the polyclinic route. More $ saving

Thanks verluv.

Mine is very noisy when sleeping and feeding too. She grunts and snorts loud enough such that I can hear from the other room. Her noises are accompanied by kicks and she waves her arms around. Sometimes she would accidentally box her own face and wake herself up. I feel so much better now knowing that the noises seem to be quite common.

@KWL - you are latching and pumping almost non-stop and meeting her demand and for that, I think u are doing a great job already. Try not to look at the numbers when you pump, you will give yourself pressure and the milk will be reduced. Do you get letdown when you express? You can try nursing supplements like fennel or fenugreek if you find it necessary. But I do believe that as ur baby's needs increase, your body will naturally adjust and produce more. Just keep it up.

Currently strategy is latch from morning till about 9-10pm then I bottle feed with 90ml breast milk so that I can knock out the baby. In between feeds, I will pump out extra if breasts feel full.

So the excess stock will be used by CL for night feeds. In between the night, I will also try to wake up twice to express milk so as to ensure CL has at least 2 sets of 90ml breast milk to feed baby and survive thru the night.

For shock related discussion, does your baby always sleep in a quiet room and get disturbed sleep?

For my case, I have been "scaring and shocking" my baby since day 3 hospital discharge. I will place baby in the living room with loud tv and sometimes give baby a pat on the backside while feeding. I also talk loudly on hand phone while feeding. We never hold back out volume n laughter while carrying.

So right now after some training, baby is quite oblivious to sudden and common noise and sound Liao.

If I need to go to polyclinic, I will also time backwards and try to wake baby for one last min feed before we set off so that baby can be in a drunken mode at the crowded place. Easier to manage a sleeping baby than a rowdy one!

I am an evil and demanding mummy. My thinking is that - I am not going to change my lifestyle for baby. So we need to get baby accustomed to our way of living asap.

Anyone has any tips to help a baby with phlegmy cough? It's day 4 and baby having phlegmy cough.

Last nite he was coughing and puked out milk that he just drank. Good thing is there was also slimy clear mucus-y substance that came out. Wet my shorts, very grossed out haha!

My gal has been up since 9am and refusing to sleep......gosh waiting for her to sleep so that can go wash the bottles and pumps...

For my boy also same thing. I even bath him still don't make him sleepy. As for washing bottles n pumps, I get Dh to wash in the morning before he got out. 6bottles to last until evening time he come back n wash again. Heehee

Mine also, after doing well yesterday. Sleeping fine on me but couldn't last in her cot. I have been interrupted twice while pumping. Then also refuses to latch. My boobs are not happy.

Piglet02 how about the pumps? You also wait till evening ? I think I shall go buy more bottles like you !

Pumping schedule is now haywire...no more so consistent... Pump when there is time. I was also interrupted,..and worst when there was a let down....dripping all the way as I walked to her cot to carry her as the royal highness was screaming till her face turns red.

Maybe shld bring see pd?

Mine finally KO at 8pm till now. Thank god. She wasn't sleeping since 9am. The most slept 10mins in the cot a few times earlier today.

I admit I was heartless... I was so impatient I let her CIO (cry it out) for like 8mins in her cot. Hoping she will be tired and give up. I was wrong. After that I carried her I saw her face aiyo so poor thing.

My boy wake ard 5.30-6am. After feeding, I pump. Then Dh morning wash. After that pump ard 12pm. 5-6pm pump ard. Dh will be home n wash all the bottles n pump ard 8.30-9.00pm. After that Bb night feed ard 11pm. Pump again before I sleep. With this routine I no need to wash heehee. I use single pump unless u used double pump then maybe late afternoon u need to wash the pump

Piglet: it seems like you are only pumping 6hrly. In this case, is the supply sufficient for your LO? How much is your LO drinking?
Mine is drinking 100ml every 3 hrly. And if I don't pump every 3 hrly, I won't have sufficient for her. If I diligently pump every 3 hrly, I will more or less get 100ml. However if I drag to 4-5hrs, I will only yield 130-140ml. I also dunno how my breast work. How I wish I can be like you to pump 6 hrs interval! This bf is making me deprived of sleep!!!

My bb seems to have a lot of small pimples on her face and her head. Wonder if this is heat rash? Or is it toxic from her body since she haven poo for the past 2 days?
I tried to do some leg exercise with her but still no sign of poo. But when she let out gas, can smell the poo poo smell. Hopefully she poo soon.

My CL uses Skii for bb face rash. Which is water from washing rice. That's what she calls it :p Seems to work well on mild rashes on my bb (face and neck).

Curious to know if any of you practice lights off at certain time daily?

I adopted what my CL does by stopping all stimulating activity for bb from 9pm (actually I'm thinking if I should bring forward an hour to 8pm). Including no longer making funny talk to bb as well so that she can retire early hopefully. So whenever guests come, I will actually chase them out of baby's room by that timing; lights off to simulate night time to sleep liao.

Any sharing on this?

Normally my 2 elder girls sleep at 9pm so we will also bring the bb into the room at 9pm and sleep together.. That is also when we switch off the light too..
As for the rashes I tried applying bm on it. Maybe I should try using rice washing too.. Thanks redvel for your suggestion!

Still got some chemical in it. I use coconut water to tap tap on bb face once a day like moisturiser. This work for my LO too when she has milk rashes.

Mine abt 1mth old drinking 90ml. In btw you can let bb latch. This is the only period, I can do. Otherwise later on, I need to return to work. Less time to bond with Bb.

It will go away with time. These milia develop because of milk traces

Here's some tips From My CL :
- firstly, we need to wipe baby face after each feed. I use cotton ball and warm water.
Sometimes I am lazy, I will just use cloth
- change mittens often. Reason being baby might sweep ur breasts with the mittens. And when they sweep their face, they will develop the pimple like thing on face
- bathe baby in morning; bathe again or wipe body in evening
- all in all, just try to keep a clean environment and things should improve

Last night was my first solo night without Cl, baby stay awake from 6pm to 12:30am. 9:30pm onwards he become very fussy and keep asking for milk hourly and only drink 30ml.. So messed up on the feeding time. Totally no time to pump milk and baby refuse to latch. Baby woke up at 3am and 6am for milk, I have a sleepless night. Today went back to my mum house with baby so I can get to pump milk n have a good rest to prepare for tonight challenge.

@redvel - can share how u managed to express with ur bb hardly sleeping the whole day? I'm getting nervous as it'll b my turn soon. Slowly, I'm starting to remember my older girls' infant days when I was hardly able to take a shower or have a proper dump without the bb screaming outside the toilet.

Tuna, yesterday wasn't a good day indeed. And because my bb didn't get enough rest, today she is so easy to handle. As in sleeping and drinking very well. So you see, sometimes God is fair lol.

I tried to pump even if ten mins was all I had. I showered halfway and she cried yes. But I told myself I gotta finish my shower and I filtered her cry. I mentioned I also let her cry it out at one pt too yesterday. 8mins I timed! Because I was darn tired already handling her fuss. During that 8mins, I closed her room door while I wanted to just sit down at the dining to drink some water at my pace.

I'm not sure if what I did was "wrong" on an infant. But I needed to do that to keep my sanity abit.

To add : I just gave her more Fm yesterday since I didn't have much ebm due to reduced pumps.

Bb drink more during the day. Will not fuss so much during the night. Train them to get into our lifestyle and daily routine. For me I give every 3hrs +-15mins. Last feed usually ard 11-11.30pm. After that will be depend on bb. Wake up cry then give milk. Usually can sleep more than 3hrs. Until morning ard 6am. I will start feeding every 3hrs.

I am getting worried too as my CL is going off next week. I am afraid I won't have time to stick to current routine pumping routine. My CL tell me my baby will wake up at around 4-5am for milk, thereafter baby will be awake and keep asking for milk hourly :(

Thanks mummies for congratulating.

Finally had the chance and time to read this forum. I'm enjoying every bit of motherhood and baby is a week old today. :)

Just to rant. CL and my grandma have totally different views. CL wants to cook many different kinds of food for me but grandma says this cannot, that cannot. Feeling very pekcek because past one week I've been eating the same food for 3 meals. (Zzz) not to mention that I can't drink plain water now and due to all the heaty food that we have to eat during confinement, I'm over-heaty and nose bleeding for 2 days already.

It's only one week and i still have 17 days to go. Really can't wait for confinement to end..

Nevermind who spread to who. For now, wash your hand n wear a mask when need to handle baby. Air the room.

This happen to me abt 2-3 weeks ago. My no.1 down with fever n flu n spread to my no.2. Then spread to my hb. They were sick for 1 week plus. I have to quarantine them n make sure me n baby don't get near them so we will not get infected. Have to sleep in separate room but the 2 elder one super sticky. So have to keep washing hand and I bought the disinfect spray to spray the room.. Mop the floor with dettol. It was a crazy week.

My baby don't like dh to carry and he will cried loudly as if going to tear the whole house down. Dh also cannot handle stressed, when he try to calm baby down but it get worse then he got stressed and scream at baby. Told him many times not to scream at baby but he can't control it. This morning baby wake up at 5am for milk and take 45mins to finish his milk (70ml) i don't know why he take so slow to finish it. I make baby go to sleep then faster go pump milk at 6am .. Baby woke up at 7am for milk again.. Sigh ..

:( haven't got time to read all the comments in the Forum.

My CL just went back on Thursday night. It's so sad to see her leave. She kept going back to baby room to see baby before making her way back home. Even called me and asked how am I doing before she crossed the causeway. *super touched!*

Anyway, baby is straining and grunting a lot when I put him on the cot. Anyone having the same issue? I can't sleep well at all because of all the sound he made, but he doesn't seem to be in pain. And there's no crying.

Keeping it strong!

:) my hb just started helping to feed baby and I'm kind of impressed that he managed to finished the whole bottle with my LO. It's like usually you will have a bit of leftovers unless baby is lying flat. I wonder will this cause baby to have more wind in his tummy?

My hubby is now good at bottle feeding and washing bottles. Sometimes he can make bb fall asleep better than me. However I think it's all because bb is very tired then :p

However when it comes to diaper changing, he takes very long.

Next he says he wants to try the bathing. Ooooh I'm so scared haha.

Overall I give him good pat on the back!

Sarah, few posts ago we also discussed about babies making grunting noises in their sleep. Tbh I'm so concerned but seems it's a norm. Previously (started about a week ago) it only happens at night. Now night and day naps she also grunts a lot and cringes her face but is actually sleeping.

Good job for your hubby! :)

Thank you, don't remember reading about it. More reassured now if it's a norm. My little one also grunts a lot in the day time now. Unless I put him on the rocker so that he's not lying flat on the cot.

Now I just need to filter these noises so I can sleep at night. :):):)

Can I do a quick check like :
1. how old is ur little one now
2. Your average output per pump/ frequency
3. Little one's intake per feed

1) LO is 6.5 weeks
2) full latch, 2-3 times a day when engorged, 140-160ml after latching
3) no idea... Was 80ml at 4 weeks.
