Snowfern I am still monitoring my blood pressure on my own... Lately measurement went down to 130 something and 70 something. I dread taking the medicine...coz need to continue once I start again...but if pressure reading is no good, will see gynae and ask for medication.

By the way i read someway, new born don't need pillow. So not necessary to use till they are bigger. I observe my gal will turn her head on her own, but if she doesn't you have to help her shift the position now and then. My elder used to sleep only on her left....that is she doesn't turn her head...and when she was like. 2 months plus for follow up, the doc at Kkh asked us to turn her head if she is in same position for too long

Ok princess is screaming for attention

@gan, redvel - would playing soft music help bb to fall asleep? The music may also help mask sudden loud sounds and help her sleep better.

Mummies anyone dreamfeed your baby? Mine already 1mth old, last night feed ard 11pm -12pm. Bb always wake ard 3.30am for milk would cry until tear hse. I super exhauted. When can bb sleep thru the night?

Tuna I will always try to play some white noise for her when sleeping time. works sometimes. Anyway I'm in the midst of understanding her needs. Today actually I find her very cooperative after the cot refusal incident. Yes she finally lost to me (I guess too much crying also tired her out). So far being milk drunk and clean bowel seems to be the combination for a no fuss sleep.

Piglet think our buds are too young to sleep through yet ...think maybe when they are 3-4 months?

My gal also scream the house down when comes to night feed... Always hear her crying coz she can't wait for to warm up the ebm

@redvel - good to hear you won the battle :D

@piglet - Me, I do dream feeding. Actually I've already started nursing mine to slp in the afternoon sometimes. At night I put her in cot in CL's room. It's not a good habit, but it's so convenient (bb eh-eh a bit i will auto turn, while half aslp myself, and shove nip into her mouth) that I couldn't resist despite me telling myself I'm not going to do it this time after doing so for two kids because they never slept through until I stopped the nursing-to-sleep habit.

Tuna: I tried the white noise but it doesn't work for my bb. Think it works on me more ha ha..
Piglet: if you feed your bb at 11-12 n she wakes up at 3.30 then it's very good Liao. Mine wakes up punctually every 2-3 hrs for milk. I'm trying to drag till 3 hrs then give her milk. I think if yours can sleep for 3-4 hrs now, it's very fast that she will sleep thru the night.
My no.1 sleep through the night after 2nd month but my no.2 sleep through the night only after 1 years old!!! Guess it's very different for every kids. Some of my fren child sleep through after 2 years old! I'm praying hard that mine will sleep thru faster.

Doesn't work all the time...like today she cried from 6 to 8 PM

Another pull hair moment
Mine open her eyes wide wide today from 5-10pm.. Omg.. Then wants to be carried. Once put her down she will start her music concert. I wonder how come she isn't tired and doesn't need to sleep?

@verluv - wow! Your no. 1 slept thru from 2nd month! That's super fantastic! Did u hv to do any sleep training or it just happened?
White noise doesn't work much on my bb, but music seems to lull her to sleep better.

Bb is down w flu and cough. Didn't do anything the whole of yday except to carry, rock, coax him to rest. Finally went down for a nap at 2pm in my arms WHILE I ate my lunch. I managed to catch an hr nap ard 3plus.

5plus woke up to feed and repeat telecast until 10pm. In between manage to put him down at 8pm to take dinner, but 15mins later he cried and there goes dinner.

Thankfully whole night he only woke up to feed and back to bed almost immediately. 5am fed him again and change diapers, he can't go back to sleep, until 630am! My no1 also started crying at 5am, daddy to the rescue, fed and entertained him w tv.

Hopefully bb will be better today and no repeat telecast from yday...

I'm taking my pregnancy supplements, should I take more vit C? I dun have pure Vit c, only centrum effervescence... Not sure if I can take bcos the contents r similar to the obimin from KKH.

No I din do anything in specific and I was so inexperience and I tot all babies are so easy... Until my no.2 is out!!!

@ candymoshi n piglet: oh no, that is really bad.. Please do take care of yourself. Bb must be super cranky when they r sick. Hope they recover real soon!

Thanks everyone! Another sleepless night here, so back to chitchat a bit huhu

Hang in there and sleep as much as you can @KWL & @Rachelybq @_@

@MistyCloud I had quite annoying piles 2nd trimester, and been cleaning the area with witch hazel + cotton balls after every movement and shower....seems to help with the swelling. Doc also gave me stool softener, lactulose, it definitely helped reduce strain and thus swelling. If skin broken, can get cream from doc also.

Hi snowfern

Can i know which brand of witch hazel you tried? I bought the thayers brand not sure if its good enough..

Oh no my bb has not been sleeping and want to be carried.once I put her on the bed or cot she will fuss.
She will only sleep on her tummy or if I carry her. However I read abt the risk of letting bb sleep on tummy. If I turn her and let her sleep on her back she will wake up. Wat shall I do? Does anyone here let your bb sleep on tummy?
She really loves sleeping on tummy. I tried twice that she was crying very loudly for milk but as I was steaming the milk I put her on tummy and she fell asleep and wakes up only one hour later for milk.

Went to see gynae. All looks back to normal although im having "stitch allergy" where the area gets a little swollen and uncomfy. Hope it will go away in a months time as what he says, with medication.

My nephew slept on tummy too and his head shape is not too nice. I mean aesthetically aside, must really watch out if you intend to let bb sleep on tummy.

Mine likes to sleep chest to chest upright.

Can I ask do you all feed only on demand? I think my CL fed on schedule but I prefer to feed on demand. But if say bb sleeps more than 4-5hrs straight, should I wake her up? Yesterday she slept almost 5hrs then wakey. Now, it has been 4hrs and I'm so eager to feed her, keep watching if she's awake. Haha.

Haha I am also on standby now with a bottle of ebm waiting to feed.
I used to feed on schedule for number 1, with number 2 , I am feeding on demand.
She usually asked for milk 2.5 to 3 hrs but this afternoon she dragged till 4 hours before crying for milk.
Brought her to pd for review today, still having mild jaundice but doc say not a concern. Happy to say she is putting on weight.

Wah I stil waiting for my Lo to sleep 4hrs. He very on the dot one. 3hrs cry until tear down the hse. Tmr my Lo jaundice review too. Pray pray hope is the last time liao

hello mummy, if in doubt, read the centrum container to see whether it state that it is safe for breast feeding mummy or not, for super KS mummy, if it never state then should assume that it is not suitable. Vitamin C is relatively inexpensive and also can be consume by everyone in the family. So if really worried, can go to buy some that clearly stated as good for breast feeding mummy de, any leftover plus centrum can pass to your ah lao or other adult healthy family member to take.

jia you

Hello mummy, how many day/week is your baby jaundice level/score? mine was born last friday and his jaundice level is 219 yesterday. Going to bring him back to KKH for a jaundice check on Friday morning. hopefully the score will be come down by then, otherwise might need to be warded for photo therapy treatment le.

Previously I asked about the immunization jab coming up. So mummies here are going to take 6-in-1 for baby or the 5-in-1? Then top up with the 6th (Hep B). Since polyclinic has free 5-in-1.

I haven't dared to let her slp on tummy, mainly because I dont dare to flip her, scared she will puke all her milk out...
I've read about the risks also, and that it should not be done at night because everyone aslp for a long period hence anything amiss will go unnoticed. Since your bb sleeps well on her tummy, perhaps you can let her do in the morning or afternoon, when you are doing your chores, so you will be able to check on her periodically.

@redvel - I feed on demand, find it too tiring to stick to a feeding schedule. If bb sleeps for more than 4-5 hrs in the daytime, think should wake her up to feed. But if it's at night, leave her be, and congratulate yourself as she could be starting to sleep through the night. *envious*
Stitch allergy means you are allergic to the stitches used is it? Sounds awfully uncomfortable, hope for a quick recovery for you.

Is everyone here still swaddling your bb? I know I should so she can slp longer and less prone to startles, but she moves so much it's a 10 min struggle to swaddle her that I've given up long ago. Thinking I should start doing it again.

Babies who are around 3-4 weeks old, can I know how much milk they are drinking each time? For night feeds I express for CL to feed, she takes about 120-130 ml before she can go back to slp, otherwise she'll be tossing and turning. Never had a bb who drinks so much, not sure if it's too much.

Hi my baby is 4 weeks plus now....yesterday we didn't take any blood test but pd said shld be 8 or less...I am with tmc..the unit for jaundice is diff, think must multiply by 18 to change to kk units. Her jaundice takes longer to clear due to blood group incompatibility and also she is fully on breast milk,
When she is about about your baby age. Her level was 13

Tuna: I'm afraid of the risk so I only let her sleep on tummy when I'm pumping my milk in the afternoon or in the night.
I swaddle bb till now and she is 5 week old. But she is very good at unwrapping herself.
I rem my baby is only taking 80-90ml when she is 3-4 weeks old, unless growth spurt. Think your bb will soon be a Michelin baby!

I was told :

- Upon discharge : Should be below 200
- by Day 3/4: below 270-300
- for complete discharge n clear of jaundice : below 100

My baby was at risk.So I was given a choice to go back to the hospital or polyclinic for follow-up. I went with latter option. Each visit is cheap. First was $18.80; subsequent checks were at < $15!

Baby is two weeks now. Drinking 90ml currently. I latch and pump, but find myself marginally meeting her demand. 为什么没有奶

Hi mummies are your Babies noisy when they sleep ? My gal has a lot of sound when she sleeps .....
Me!!! My baby has lot of sound during sleep and drink milk. Went to see PD, he explain becoz baby throat very thin and soft like a straw, so when they suck very hard, their throat will stick together and having this weird sound. During sleep is becoz the milk back flow and cause irritation to their throat so create weird sound again. This will last till 1yr old.

Thanks tuna.

Yes that's what I want to "complain" too. Now that CL is gone, I decide to sleep in baby's room. She is so noisy in her sleep I'm waken up half the time. She grunts a lot with some movement but not awake. I wonder if that's normal.

Those with noisy babies is noisy with movement or without?

I let both my kids sleep on their tummies, it's a life saver for me!

Of course I also worry abt the risks so I do it in the day time and on a mattress in the living hall where I am. I ensure that his neck is turned to the side. I heard you need to change sides every 30mins, but my boy's neck is strong enough to turn by himself now.

Now that he has runny nose and cough, sleeping on tummy is better to prevent mucus back flow and choking.

He does make some sounds initially so after 1 night I stopped sleeping in his room. I kept his room door and mine ajar so I can hear him cry. His cries are softer when sleeping on tummy so he doesn't disturb his elder bro in the other room.

This is how he slept yday as he had to be elevated due to his runny nose, this pillow helps him to breathe better.

Thanks verluv.

Mine is very noisy when sleeping and feeding too. She grunts and snorts loud enough such that I can hear from the other room. Her noises are accompanied by kicks and she waves her arms around. Sometimes she would accidentally box her own face and wake herself up. I feel so much better now knowing that the noises seem to be quite common.

@KWL - you are latching and pumping almost non-stop and meeting her demand and for that, I think u are doing a great job already. Try not to look at the numbers when you pump, you will give yourself pressure and the milk will be reduced. Do you get letdown when you express? You can try nursing supplements like fennel or fenugreek if you find it necessary. But I do believe that as ur baby's needs increase, your body will naturally adjust and produce more. Just keep it up.

Hi everyone, share of my birth story.

Edd was on 29 Jul 16. Baby due with no signs of labour. Dilated 1cm on last check with gynae on 28 Jul 16. Was arranged to induce on 30 Jul 16 @ 11pm. Baby born on 31 Jul 16.

30 Jul 16 @ 11.30pm - 1st pill insert to induce. Checked, still dilated at 1cm.

31 Jul 16 @ 4.30am - 2nd pill insert to induce.
Checked, dilated 3-4cm.

31 Jul 16 @ 7am - Gynae burst water bag.
Still dilated at 3-4cm. Ask for epidural.

31 Jul 16 @ 11am - Gynae checked, dilated 6-7cm. Thinking to myself, yes shld be soon.

31 Jul 16 @ 3pm - Gynae checked. No improvement. Still dilated at 6-7cm.

31 Jul 16 @ 6pm - Gynae checked. Still at 6-7cm. He suggested to give another 2 hours for full dilation if not to go for emergency c sect. Ask if any other medication to assist to speed up dilation as i do not want to go for c sect. He told me he given me all the max dose of medication that he could possible n i could only depend on bb now.

31 Jul 16 @ 7.30pm - Mid wife came with last hope with natural birth. She ask me to try pushing to see if she could feel the bb head although I dun have the urge to push. N no, bb's head still high up. Was dilated 9cm at this point.

31 Jul 16 @ 8pm - Went for c sect.

31 Jul 16 @ 8.29pm - Finally bb is born.

A total use of 3 epidural top -up.

Hello, thanks for sharing. Much appreciate.

We are more kan cheong, we ask poly clinic got photo therapy machine, KKH say poly clinic no have such equipment, so we decide to go to KKH to do the check instead, the clinic is located next to the private suite, and the bill is like $100+. You did the smarter thing to do it at poly clinic. I am suppose to go back again for another check on friday, maybe i will go to poly clinic instead. How your experience at polyclinic, is the wait long? Thanks

My baby will normally stretches herself in the middle of her sleep and that is when she produce noises. Other than that, not much other noise

@emk: oh dear, pls take care of yourself. So now still can carry baby right? Else will sure miss carrying baby.
@candymoshi: thanks for the pic.. With this, at least I can 放心let my girl sleep on her tummy in the afternoon when I can see her.

Oh by the way, do you all experience that the baby will suddenly wake up in shock and start crying? I swaddle her but she will always wake up startled. I'm not sure y is that so. Heard my cousin gives 惊风散to the infant to prevent that but I'm quite skeptical abt that.
