Oh and btw there are no real cost-savings for breastfeeding vs formula.
Any mummy who have ever breastfed will tell you that you still need a pump to standby for the times when you're not with your baby - ie going out w/o child, or to pump and throw after consuming certain meds/alcohol, or just to catch a few hours" sleep and let someone else do the feeding, to transition bb to bottle-feeding etc.
Which means there's still a need to get bottles, sterilisers, milk storage bags, pumps etc.
The only benefit of breastfeeding is the bonding and if latching directly, the fact that you save on all the washing up.
As for the oft-touted benefits to baby's immunity, in my experience the baby is only protected IF the mother falls sick before bb does and the body has already started to generate antibodies. I've noticed that if my girl falls sick first and i only catch it a few days later, she still gets the full-blown effects of the cold or flu.
But if I'm sick first, her symptoms tend to be milder, or sometimes she doesn't even get it. However this seldom happens, it tends to be the other way round.
The unfortunate thing with having an older child in childcare is that the older kid brings home all the viruses and passes them on to the baby. And because the bb's immune system is more defenceless they tend to get it earlier than us mothers since we've all weathered countless colds and flus over the years.
