Babysmurf -> Initially I was planning to get dry shampoo... i did some research and was recommended that we can actually use Johnson baby powder, it works the same as the dry shampoo and the best thing is cheap

Morning mommies!

I see all the talks on full month catering etc..I went to google to find nice/interesting full month gifts. So far, mostly are those swiss rolls/red eggs/ang ku kueh/cupcakes combi. Dont know if the older folks will like anot plus not exactly v.cheap...think we are paying for the packaging. haha.

Am still thinking if we shld have a full month celebration for bb coz our place quite small. Are full month celebrations held earlier than the official 1mth mark? I didnt know that.haha. Maybe will get a nice venue for full month (then dont have to clean up the place etc) or go my mom's place which is bigger. See how...

JC - Thanks!! I am the one looking for casting of bb's hands and feet! Now waiting for promotions from B&G...if not it can be quite exp. hehe. Thanks babe!

Cupcakes
- Not a fan of cupcakes so cant recommend but my neighbour bakes as a sideline and many of my other neighbours ordered from her coz can customise any way you want. Very nicely decorated and taste good! I may be checking with her on her prices...if resonable, maybe I use this as full month gift instead. hahaha.

Hi May Mummies!

I have a $100 Stamford Catering Services voucher to let go at $75. Expiry date is 24 Aug 2013.

Please PM me if you are keen.

Thanks!!

Personally, I've tried Stamford Catering for a few times liao, & I quite like their food! I think its quite nice.

I m also thinking of whether to have a full-mth celebration. Quite troublesome. If can, I also want to invite a small group of family members only.

Hi mummies,

Talking about first mth celebration, i have already: (JTS)

-Booked the open space below my blk with town counsel $70 plus
-Decided on Elsie's kitchen for catering, will get the table n chairs from them too
-table cloth from spotlight
-Made hand made invites
-Bought glass jars from daiso, bot cookie cutters(pacifier, pram, rompers, animal shaped), tried baking some cookies, will order TQ stickers for the jars n ribbon
-Will buy a cupcake stand and bake mini cupcakes (oreo n banana flavour)
-Balloons will self collect from kids party store at compass point
-Rent some ride ons, ball pit and a bouncy castle (more for my 22month son and his frens to play)
-Still thinking if i should get a photographer from studioplay

Yup, thats about it...

So fast planned first month celebration.

I only look around but hasn't plan. My hubby thinking of getting mum's kitchen as they proven quite good the last time we used for our church wedding and tea ceremony.

But now very headache. We are staying at my parents' place and it is those smaller size 4 room flat. Don't know enough space to hold the celebration. Just walking space alone is quite limited plus the flat outside is the walkway. Not those corner flat.

Hi babysmurf, I bought dry shampoo from Gaurdian pharmacy. I think you can get it from any pharmacies. It's from d brand Klorane.

eva : do it at your house below? I think i shd start looking for venue liao if i just want to have a few tables.

Griny: meihao99 food is nice!! I like it... just that its not halal...
But doesnt matter la.
For my #2 full month I ordered thai food.... got thai ice tea as drinks and thai red ruby as dessert... hehe..
But I added on sushi from sakae and ang ku kueh...

Meiliew is good to start sourcing for the first mth before bb is born U probably don't have the time n energy to do that during confinement ... That happened to me for my first one.

Eva, mine also the small 4 room flat type. Is your unit near lift? Maybe can put at lift area.

Do you mummies plan to provide red eggs and distribute cakes during the baby shower?

chiro: i will get my CL to prepare the red eggs lor...maybe 20pcs will do..
then distribute cakes only to my colleagues and relatives bah...

2K ,
I din realised its non halal... But gd to point out in case others want to consider.

My maid just arrived my hse today. Feel so weird to hav her in her my hse.

griny: u 1st time getting a maid mah?
lately i also very stressed over a maid. my MIL and hub want me to get one. they think i cant cope with 3...

what did u prepare for her? and u got prepare schedule or not.

Ya lor 1st time. I think I cannot cope with 2 kids so decided to get 1. Now hav one, feel so stress , insecured and weird with her ard. Maybe I not used to it. I prepared house rules, schedule for her. Make sure she is very occupied while I am working b4 my ml.

griny, new maid got a lot of consideration. Make sure she can really handle baby care.

Dreambig, my doc didn't have birth plan but the plan is just natural and maybe I will go for epidural. As think a bit, to endure the pain and stress baby also not good. Might as well have a less stress environment to deliver baby.

griny: same same...i think i will feel weird also.
my hub flys quite often. he think i cant cope with 3 when i get back to work. so wanted to get a helper lor.
mine was last minute decided so i think only coming end month.

but #3 will still goes to IFC cos hub also bu fang xin.
thus now another thing to look for - camera to monitor her

Thanks Eva.
I m going for natural too if possible but not sure still whether to go for epidural.... Heard there is side effects to that too....

Griny: my maid just arrived last fri too. First ime getting maid too. Feel very weird as I dun like to ask her do this do that cos my sis said dun let her have time to even rest . If she insisted her task, jus ask her to take a cloth and wipe ard. But so far she quite gd as in her leg hand very fast. Keep my finger cross.

Kathy, griny & 2Ks
Wah, you have an addition to the family prior to baby's arrival - a helper! Good that they are arriving earlier lah so there's time to get used to them.

How much will you be spending on a helper a month? Can be quite expensive also right. I guess I'll have to stick to my PT helper. Don't think i can ever hire a helper.

Hi gals, I m also new to maids. Just don't like the idea of having strangers ard. But my mil insists n my mum can't handle 2 at home without any help..

We manage to get her before cny.. She has been a great help so far when comes to housework. Leave us more time to spend with my girl...

2k,
IFC plus maid.... I think very high expenses.

Kathy, hippo,
If maid is gd then ok lor.... If problematic then more of headache than help. Hopefully all our maid r gd.

Mine keep telling me she is happy to work for me. Anyway, time will show.... No point keep saying this to me to make me happy, she has to perform too.

Pinktulip,

I think with salary, levy n daily expenses for food can come to 800 to 1 k I think. Definitely more ex. Ya, got her before my edd so that my no 1 can adjust n get used to her 1st.

Yes with another helper definitely expenditure higher . But I have nv enjoy my off/leave or mc before like I enjoying now. These few days I already on mc so I jus need to bring the gals to class at 1 pm,
come bk can slp Liao let the helper do all the housework. Last time always need to clean up the house.

Meiliew: y can't go for natural?

Dreambig, I also heard of the side effects but if we know we are low tolerance in term of pain, I think epidural is the best option as I also wanna try w/o epidural but now the BH already made me cry with pains sometimes. So better to go for pain reliefs.

Hi Good morning everyone, I'm new here but I do follow the thread for May mummies.

My EDD is edd of May. This is my 3rd child. My gynae is Dr Poon and glad to see two mummies having the same gynae as mine.

This pregnancy I decided to change my previous gynae as shorter waiting time in the clinic and nearer to my house.

My elder gal is K2 and son is K1. After so many year, didnt expect to have a 3rd child who is a girl. I prefer girl than boy as my elder child is a great helper to me.

I foreseen my bb will be earlier as my gal induced naturally in 39 weeks, son natural delivered in 38 weeks with contractions pain. All administered with epi as cannot stand the pain. Both bb were delivered in MT A as I like their services very much.

Hi Eva, I do not know of any side effect. But so far, I do not experience any of it fortunately. But my elder sister vomitted due to the epi administered to her body.

I do have BH but doctor gives me pills to ease the tension as do not want to deliver early.

Talking about maid, I do not have one as no one at home to monitor her 'actions'. My children were taken care by my in laws and go to childcare in the day, night time will be with me.

When I had the 2nd child, girl was palced at in law's house but after 2 we bought her back as she wants to be with mummy. I breast feed my girl for a year, son to about 8 months.

I do have a pt auntie to help me with my house chores and she is good n fast.

My MIL will do confinement for me and also engage a malay lady to do the wrap and massage for me.

THis thur, it will be my 33 weeks and counting n looking forward to her delivery. So nice to feel her kicks and stretching after years of gap.

Good Morn Everyone, I am also new here. My EDD is end of May and this is my first child. Same as Katie, I am in my 33 weeks this week

I am having a girl...

I would like to join the FB group if any as I will be more active via smartphone

BTW I have a question for all mummies.. How do u all differientate bb kick and punch. I feel that I seldom feel big kick and assume only they are all punch. Is it normal? I am kinda worried. And alot of my movement are majority below belly button even up till this stage, do any of you encounter this as well? Some of the scan show my bb is head below or side of belly button so i assume is mainly her upper body moving. Hope someone could enlighten me.

Thanks

Good morning mummies!

I have been a silent reader for long time, juz posted once or twice last year.

35+ weeks now..EDD is 8th May. But I will go for c-sec due to low placenta, same as Meiliew.

Although it's my #2, I am getting very anxious lately....so have to get 'someone' to talk to:p

Morning mommies! Mid week le!

Re: birth plan
My gynae also nv discuss any birth plans with me...but I was given a slip detailing the breakdown of my gynae's fees and the delivery type is indicated as "vaginal delivery" with IM/penthidine or epidural upon request. While epidural can provide pain relief during labour, I am afraid of the side effects...heard that it can cause the mom to shiver badly. My hb not v.supportive of me using penthidine and epidural coz of the possible side effects but I told him if I am in alot of pain how?! Men really dont understand..haha

Miracle_bing - Ehh I cant differentiate bb's kicks from punches too. To me, so long as bb moves throughout the day, its ok. I suppose some mommies' skin are thinner so they can actually make out the lil feet/hands that are pushing against the tummy. hehe.

i_love_babies - Dont be anxious! Can always share and talk to the mommies here! Lately pretty quiet here coz most of the regulars are on FB...keep posting more here and then you can request the administrator to add you to the FB group (to avoid silent readers/spammers).

sleepyskies: I can feel some pop out at times but dunno what is it.. Haha..

I hope bb leg is more active so that i can be more assured of it..

Birth Plan : my gynea has not discussed with me either, only the nurse share with me the charges and asking me make decision on which hospital for delivery.

Pain Relief: I have very low stresshold so I think epidural is gg to be my choice for sure

Breast Pump: Any of you have any review/feedback on avent manual pump? As I do not know if I have good supply so I dont intend to invest into 1 ex pump yet. I hope a handme down avent manual pump is good for a start. Any comment on this?
