My twins are both girls. I think I am delivering early and got the jab because the twins are not putting on that much weight. And gynae is afraid of the weight discrepancy getting bigger.
Furthermore, I am getting a lot of contractions.
I think my pain threshold must be low... Cos I also feel pain in my knees and joints. Anyone else?

The jab is painful because of the volume.... Mine was a 90ml injection.
 
Eh... 90 ml seems wrong. Haha.. Cos I am looking at the milk volume intake. But I recall the steroid jab is 3 vial of medication. I am not sure of the actual volume.
 
Hi Leen, congrats on your twin girls! How many weeks are you now? I gave birth to my twins at 35 weeks when one of my water bag broke! So try to relax and rest more to keep babies in there longer.

I really wonder how you all cope. With 1 baby, already so harried. I cant imagine 2. What if both want milk at the same time?

Hi Twinstar, I fixed my C sec on 23 may when they are 37weeks+. Hopefully everything goes according to plan! Are you latching or exclusive pumping?

Mofmm: I latch and pump. I prefer to pump though in order to gauge the amount that they drink and also they usually drink at the same time so it is too difficult for me to latch both at the same time. Hehe
Hang on there till week 37! Walk less and rest more.

My babies had to stay in NICU for 6 days when they came out early!
 
Leen: dun worry too much, i've lots of false contraction aso. No pain, but my tights always goes numb on n off when I stand.. Rest well n have a smooth and safe delivery tml!

MofMM: my gynae mentioned tt I dun have to hav the steroid jab cos I've passed week 34..I hope u can avoid it since Leen n Twinstar mentioned that e jab is nasty.. *scary* I'm still working next Monday to finish up some loose end.. After that, i'll start my Maternity leave on Tue... I'll rest for 2 days b4 my c-sec.. What abt u? U r resting at home now?
 
Thanks pinktulip.. I'm not sure how will I cope aso, need to adjust when bb r out.. :p I learned fr prenatal class that for twin mother, hav to latch on both bb together to save time. I guess tt is ideal situation but nt sure abt reality. Heehee

Hi mummies, I'm a twin mummy too. Was in this thread earlier on but didn't really follow e posts as my edd was early june but I delivered my twin end April. Nice to c so many twin mummies here. im still in confinement now.wish it end faster.

Re steroid jan: if I'm not wrong, steroid jab is given to mature e lungs, mainly for mummies with risk of preterm labour. Hence usually, twins mummy will b give steroid jab since likely deliver early.
 
Congrats pinkberries84! Glad to see another twin mummies. We can exchange tips and share experiences. Are your babies back home with you or in NICU?

I got contractions after being put on drip, n cervix dilating. Gynae advise best to deliver. So I delivered them at 34 weeks. They stayed in nicu for 2 days to monitor breathing n sucking. Back home w me now.

I can't stand e heat n sweat now n some of the things that CL does.. So hope normal days come quickly.

Twinstar, r u supplementing fm to your twins or total breast feeding? Im feeding fm at night now. My supply seem stagnant..

Pinkberries84: Yes the heat is unbearable and I shower everyday! Hehe
They are on full breast milk. How much are your babies drinking? Mine are drinking 90 and 100ml. I did give one feed of FM at night thinking it will drag the interval longer but they still wake up for milk 3hrs later! So back to my BM!

Do you own a double pump? If yes, do pump after each feed. I can imagine it's tough coz of the fatigue but pumping after each feed will tell your brain you need to produce more milk. Good luck!
 
Hi PinkTulip, haha yeah agree. I wonder if there is a FB page for Twin mummies? I saw a 2012 thread for twin mommies but not sure about a 2013 thread or if we should continue with the 2012 thread. Guess since most of us are posting here, might as well continue hehe.

Hi Pinkberries84, congratulations on the arrival of your babies! That's a very short NICU stay and so glad to hear your babies are back home with you now. Very soon your confinement will be over - yay for you! and I'm sure you have established a routine for your little ones.

Hi Twinstar, thanks for the advice - am resting whenever I can and miminizing travel. Working from home over the next 2 weeks till the day I deliver so I can use the 16 weeks with the babies. I see, I am thinking of exclusive pumping as I don't know how much the babies will drink if I latch and also, how to manage latching both. I mean, what if right breast and left breast produce different amounts of milk so one baby get more and the other less? Or if I feed first baby from right and left breast followed by second baby again from right and left breast, won't second baby get lesser? Such a challenge!

Hi Azel, noted on the steroid jabs. Must check with my doctor next week at the wk36 check up cos I recall another twin mummy delivering at KKH posted she had the steroid jabs the day she was due and she was at week 37. Hopefully can avoid this nasty jab too. I see you are also trying to work till almost the last day so will have more time with the babies - jia you!

MofMM: ya I wan to use 16 weeks wf bb.. As much time wf them as possible. I guess u can ask the nurse / lactation nurse to teach u on latching both bb.. U can google "Breastfeeding twin football style", think there r images to show double feeding... :p
 
Mofmm: I was working from home the week I gave birth but babies were playful so broke the bag! Hehe
My left breast produces slightly less milk than my right breast when I pump but don't worry about not having enough as babies suckle is more powerful and they will suckle till they are full. Infact when you have blocked ducts the best way to relieve is to let them suckle. Usually I will let let the babies take one breast each then switch during the next feed. I have tried latching both at the same time which is really a big challenge but fun. Haha
 
Twinstar: wow tats good.. Dunno when I can have enough bm for my bbs. Do u latch on demand or pump n feed at regular intervals? My boys r drinking 50-60ml now.

MofMM: thanks! Wow u r still working.. Take care n try to rest more. E lactation consultant taught me to latch one on left n the other on right then nxt feed to switch sides.
 
Pinkberries84: i pump and store in the fridge then bottle feed regularly in 3hrs interval. I will also latch at least once a day to prevent blocked ducts. Continue to latch and pump so that your supply will increase to meet their increasing demand. Hehe
 
Ilovebabies, Azel: actually I meant fish essence cos it's made from 生鱼.. This kind of fish cannot take until wound heal cos it might cause scarring... Chicken yes I heard cannot eat initially but my mum told me o take chicken essence i think mainly for energy to BF.....

I was away for some time trying to cope with my newborn.
Just to share some massage experience. I hadd it for a straight 10days. Im binded almost 24 hours. My massage lady will come at 9am daily. Complete everything by 11am. I did not remove the bind til the next day 8am, washed up n wait for her arrival n the whole process repeat. I think its quite effective with the right massage lady.

Im also on breast feeding supplemented by formula milk. I think my supply is low n insufficient for my bb.
Im not sure if anyone faces this problem but my bb often fall aslp during bf. She will slp for a good 20-30min bef she wakes up n suckle again. Its tough waking her up. So my bf takes 1-1.5hrs sometimes. Anyone hv advice on this?

beanice: Same here. My boy is 2+ wks old now. I am also on bfing plus FM. I tried Fenugreek to promote supply, which is very effective. But i will still bump BM out at night coz I need to have enough sleep and hope my baby can cope with bottle feeding at the same time, considering i might have to stop bfing after going back to work.

Also, my boy often falls asleep during bfing. I will burp him or take away his swaddle, it works sometimes. But if can't wake him up after 10mins, i will just let him sleep and wait for next feed. It's super tiring (need to feed him every 2 hours, sometimes 1.5 hrs). Anyone else can share your experience??

Hi Azel, Pinkberries84 and Twinstar, thanks for sharing on how to breastfeed twins. I think I'll give it a go when in hospital to try to get supply going rather than rent a pump. Twinstar, when do the twins accept 3 hour intervals between feeds? Did u start with 2 hourly when they are first born?

Azel, ilovebabies, thanks... I am feeling better now... The worst was the first week. Although everyone warned me abt the emotional impact it can have on d mother, I did not realize it could really hit on me like that....
So, all mummies who are due soon, do take care of yourselves emotionally too and find someone to share with if you feel too overwhelmed... Can easily fall into depression if not careful...
 
Ilovebabies & beanie, I have the same problem.... My boy falls asleep at almost every feed n he feeds at most 10 to 15 mins... N he gets hungry easily because of this... I initially to feed him for longer time but I find it very unproductive as half the time he is asleep n it's tiring for me....
For now, I let him suckle n if he falls asleep I will just let him go to sleep n feed again when he's up. I tried unswaddling, changing diapers but it does not help much.

Plus I have a problem of oversupply now... Having engorgement every night so I have to wake him up to feed every 2 hours if not the pain will keep me awake the whole night....

Breastfeeding is not easy....

For tonic soup (soup packs from Eu Yan Sang)
6. Ba zhen soup
7. Dang Gui Soup
8. Shi Quan Ta Bu Tang
9. Du Zhong soup

10. Seng Hua Tang to clear blood clots

11. Bai Feng Wan

12. Rice Wine aka yellow wine?

13. DOM

I am wondering if it is necessary to buy some other items separately like:

- Pao shen
- Dang Gui
- Cordyceps etc.

I also let my bb fall aslp she just wont wakeup no matter how I touch her. I think is not productive to let her slp n feed again. I often hv to feed many times. Esp at night it disturb my slp for long time.
Over supply is a good n happy prob. Rather than my low supply. Try pumping out before u get engorgement n bottle feed ur bb.

Dreambig: will take extra extra noted on e emotional. A lot of my fren told me tt I can call them but I must hav time to call them. Hahaha. Wow over-supply is a good headache, try pumping out to prevent engorgement ba. :p I hope that I'll have enough for two bb.

Mofmm: my babies started 3hrs interval feed since in hospital as trained by the NICU nurse. There are days when they cry for milk in 2 hrs interval like my son the past 2 days which I think is a growth spurt. It becomes very tiring.
