Ron, we got a zapp too as hubs finds buzz heavier. Breathlessness is a norm in pregnancy. It gets worse in final tri as bb grows n push up against our lungs. Moreover, mommy's fitness level before pregnancy also matters. Another factor is monmy's age! Older mommies will hv a tougher pregnancy coz fitness level can't compare to younger mommies. Nv check my BP at home, shld be fine since I dun get anymore headaches.. For me headaches mean high BP!

I like the zapp too, coz the weight is easier for me to carry in/out of car when alone. U got the pebble right? I read it can be taken on the plane! Not sure if SQ will allow tho!

Joanne - ya, I do get to review the scans but Oscar blood test results (which is needed to get overall rating) only the following visit. But that means I queue for the scan at FAU, then queue agsin to see doctor after the scans. I eat my biscuit, drink milo, eat apple, finish my sandwich also sometimes still find I m queuing TMC. Hahaha... But the clinic will call anyway once results r out a few days later. U might want o check w dr loh during your next appmt which scans he recommends. stay positive till u see him again ya.

Ron, yes SQ will allow! But I was told at some airports, need to collect it at the luggage collection areas..
 
Hello fellow mommies!!!

Happy 2012 - a wonderful year of new adventures for all of us. Wishing each & every one of us more patience (esp. for 1st time mommies), more joy (in each little milestone our babies make), more laughter (so that we don't frown as much), more love (to share around), more understanding (so we don't panic too much) and lots more good stuff!

Haha have been really busy party hopping and doing lots of stuff since Christmas weekend so haven't been popping in here much but wow the forum is moving really quickly so just wanted to wish everyone and also a warm welcome to new mtbs!

The little one has been enjoying lots of feasting & partying in the past weeks/days. Uhm, I feel a bit guilty when I still receive those power kicks/punches at like 1am and oh well..I know next yr I will be home bound for most celebrations so oh well.... haha.

Can't believe how quickly the 1st day of the year has passed already!

I wa to know why do I feel nausea after a full meal? When I am hungry and craving for something, I eat but after a while I will hv the nausea feeling... When I wake up in the morning I will feel nausea... So whether I am on empty stomach or after a meal I still feel nausea... Why so??

I am at 8 weeks and feel the same as you. Empty stomach or full will also feel nauseous. So I guess eat frequent small meals and keep some food to nibble on when you hungry in between meals!

Fatefully : ya it's like that. Nauseous for no reason. I felt 7-8 weeks was the worse for me.

Joanne : ... I begin to feel stressing posts - I start to think why am I so normal,why no kan chiong like u. Like not a good mum. I nvr kan chiong/worry abt my bb growth for next scan, nvr worry abt my next visit.. Nvr talk to my bb. Alemark... I sleep like a pig besides waking up early at 4am, and just go for my apptm like going shopping/ hair cut that kind of apptm. I become relaxed mode - take it easy happy go lucky mode. After reading yr post; suddenly I felt like doing injustice to my bb now like I nvr care like that... Feel so guilty.. How big was yr bbs at 8 wk scan? And when is yr next scan?

Oh btw, I asked TMC b4 they say dr loh is not the participating doc on FBI.
 
Wan to ask is it considered as dirty during the confinement mom that "more pantang" pple including parents, parents in law cannot visit us? My gf was sharing that her own dad did not visit her at all during the confinement month n she was v upset. Only her mom n bro went. I was wondering if this is the reason.
 
Tanny, yes some old folks r v patang n confinement mth is viewed as "dirty". Some parents wun even allow own daughter to move bk for confinement. Coz daughters r married out of the family n shldnt go bk for confinement.

Lol.. Actually u shouldnt learn fr me.. I shd learn fr u.. To be happy go lucky n relax too.. Like tt then our babies can grow healthily..;) so u no need feel guilty, i shd be feeling guilty for oways so stress.. Hee.. I think my scan is on same day as u according to laoshi.. Wht time is ur appointment on tt day? Btw, regarding abt dirty, sometime some old folks dun come for first 2 wks as they want us to rest well since we r at most fragile n weak n some do feel dirty like wht u say, my mum n mil oways got come to see me n their grandson during my last confinement and my dad only come after 2wks...it all depends on individual old folks..;) btw, do u sleep in day time these few days? I sleep so end up wakeup alert at 3 or 4plus then force myself go back to sleep till 9plus since not working.. Hee.. Do tressure ur sleep this period now..;) u will know wht i meant after bb is born..;)

Yet to hear fr u abt ur reply yesterday morning.. Just curious ur oscar scan going do at wk 11 or wk 12 of pregnancy? Doc Loh decide the date for u or tmc nurse? Oso when is ur last scan at how many wk? Regarding abt nausea, is normal as wht sasha say, u just try eat many small meal so tt tummy not empty nor too full.. I was so full last night n feel nausea n indigestion too.. Regret eat so much...;)
 
Hazel, Ron, I got a zapp too but aft buying it den realize there no bumper bar. Do urs come with e bar ?

Without e bar, is nt possible to use when bb is sitting in upright position. Wonder to they allow exchange...
 
Bliss, Zapp is for bb 6 mths &amp; above &amp; it cannot be adjusted in various sit positions. There is only one sit position. So, no full upright sit position. We got a separate maxi cosi car seat to fit on stroller for bb < 6 mths old and to use in car seat ( easy to remove).
 
Bbliss - ya, it doesn't come w bumper bar. Where did u get yours? Maybe can ask them for exchange w another brand/model if u want the bumper bar, since should be unused yet?

Sashamama - hehe, no-leh not from ttc thread. Was based in HK earlier and only started being active on forum when I started Fresh#2. now completely addicted to forum tho! Hahaha.. Good to see you here ( ESP after your earlier 1st scan scare)

Hi Joanne, Dr M arranged the Oscar scan after my last scan in Dec. At that time I was abt 8 weeks, so when Oscar scan I am already in 12 weeks. I found out that EDD depend on the size of bb... My EDD was 27 then it change to 21 July during my last scan in dec. I will be going for my normal scan to see bb is healthy or nt cos I worry... Then 10 jan I going for my Oscar &amp; FE scan. Then feb I going bk to see her again...

Mine I brought fr taka. The one I brought can allow mi to adjust e seat to diff position. Couldn't rem if is zapp or zapp xtra but pretty sure no bumper bar.

I went to quinny website n c. They have e bumper bar sold as accessory but wonder if can fit into e model I brought.

Mine stroller stil at their warehouse. Perhaps will call trw to chk out. If change to other model wif bar, dunnoe gotta top up hw much. Hehe...

Btw, is infant car seat a must ? My hb tinking tat since can oni use for 6 mths like very wasteful. Is there a type tat can be used from infant to toddler type ?
 
Bliss, urs is zapp extra.

infant car seat is rear facing, ie, bb's back is facing the driver. That means when the driver does a hard brake stop, the bb will not be jerked forward.. Not forgetting bb's neck/head is very fragile. Those infant / toddler seats r usually not rear facing. So, infant car seat is safer. It can be used until bb is 13 kg or so.

It is good that you are not too stressed about your pregnancy. I believe partly cos you visit laoshi and hear good feedback from her and that gives you a lot of reassurance right? She is always asking us to stay positive, which is good and important for our babies. I saw her today, she told me bb doing good, I'd stay positive

Our EDDs are within one month from one another I think!!! A lot of similar experiences that we can share along the journey. Any other sister I left out? EDD July-August?
 
Hi Joanne, my next scan is tomo which I requested fr Dr M. Next will be my Oscar &amp; FE scan on 10/jan. Then Feb will see her again for my normal scan.
 
a tad worried..sometimes i feel preggy symptoms like nauseous, tired, boobs sore and pee often but then this 2 days no symptoms at all..well besides still waking up peeing 2-3times in the nighttime .. is this normal? My hb worried ask me go test HPT again lol..
 
oh and can ladies here recommend panties good for MTB? The panties i have must be changed soon..cos too small!!! lol im growing bigger in size!

Had my first scan Yesterday and can only see the sac. I am very worried and very sad. I suffered from severe cramps too. Can anyone help me? Am so sad this will not go well.

I just got up and have been nursing a bad cold and throat for the past 2 nights. Not too sure if it has been a results of late nights or also cause spent most of yesterday going to Ikea to buy storage space and clearing out a lot of things so that we have space for the cot. Gosh. My nose has been dripping like a tap. Haven't gotten this sick since bfp, so hopefully vitamin C is going to work its charm.

Hey for those engaging CL (I just met mine agent on Sat to pay deposit), do they sleep in separate room with the baby together or will baby sleep with you then they just come in to pass you for feeding? I know we're supposed to rest and just depend all on CL but my mil told me for 1st time moms, hard to not bother with the cries here &amp; there and I may want to have baby within my sight if possible. CL agent told me that they are concerned about post-natal blues so they encourage moms to rest away from babies and also privacy to have friends visit and lend support etc. So I'm not sure now if I should try to make a room for my CL and baby or if they should sleep same room as me (original plan), and hubby sleeping in another smaller room.
 
Kimmy, my CL will be sleeping with bb. Night feeds, if I find the pain bearable, i will latch on directly. So CL will knock my door during milk feeds. Yes, u shld rest as much as possible during confinement. If not, later u will suffer. cL is supposed to attend to bb cries. U can always check on bb if u 不放心.

U hv already cleared one room for bb cot right? If so, just get another mattress to plc on floor for CL to sleep. No need to purposely prepare a room for her. I m getting a bb cot with wheels, so that I can push it ard in the house n size wise, also able to go my bed room n spare room doors.

During the day, if I like, I can push the cot to my bed room or to living room..convenient.
 
Hazel - mm actually the area i cleaned up for bb cot is my room cuz my room is made up from 2 bedrooms joint together (we broke the walls initially). I don't have a spare room for CL unless I ask my sil if i can have her room temporarily she only comes back to sleep once a month at most (cuz stay over at bf's) but duno how that will result in. We have another room downstairs but its next to 2 dogs so I din't want CL to sleep there with bb because the dogs get excited easily and whenever there's someone in that room, they will bark until they get sayang...

So its either she sleeps in my room (which agent dint recommend) or I get my sil's room but either ways its mattress and agent said preferably to have bed so that CL can just check on baby from time to time without needing to get up. So I duno if mattress can a not? then also duno if i can ask for 'open door policy' since mil kept suggesting that I may want to see baby whenever I feel like it.

Then marketing you will also give $$$ to CL to do?

hey, better take care and rest for next 2 weeks until CNY before u <cheong> again!

I am also undecided if BB should sleep with us during 1st month, esp since going to try breastfreeding. In the end we bought a co-sleeper so that if really in the end during confinement month we feel like having the bb over at night to feed, etc, bb can sleep with us on the bed. No need to get in and out of bed to feed, or have the baby being brought over throughout the night.

Still not decided on arrangement as my mum is helping during confinement month (no CL) but she's getting old and I can't expect her to be taking care of bb at night and day for whole month...

We got a small moveable day cot so that during the day can push bb into bedroom or living room, and the co-sleeper looks like this (there's another version called Snuggle Nest):

My SIL's CL would bring the bb in at night (she had C-section so needed even more rest) &amp; when done hubby will ask CL will bring bb out back to bb's room so that mummy &amp; bb can rest. CL sleeps on floor mattress bb's room. However, all these must tell the CL upfront so that they won't disagree when the arrive. SIL's CL all not w/ agencies so not sure if that's why they are more flexi.

Another fren did what Hazel is doing re sleeing,which is a moveable baby cot with wheels, do depends what works for you.
 
Kimmy, I told my CL agent that CL will sleep on matteress. She said she is ok with that. Well, end of the day, we r the employer. If we dun hv a spare room, how r we going to come out one for her. I dun hv a spare room too actually. My sis is staying with me full time. The other room is a study room where I hv day bed and study table, PC n cupboards. I will just bring out the day bed to living room for the bb cot after I bought the cot.

My bb will sleep in aircon room coz my study room has afternoon sun. Is going to be warm. During confinement, my aircon will be on most times coz I feel very hot one, fr last yr's experience.... I cannot take fans, body will ache..

Marketing is done by my parents. Wet market no receipt one leh.. Not all CLs r honest....

As for e CL, same as Hazel, my CL will be sleeping at my bb's rm together wif e bb. When is feeding time, den she suppose to bring bb over to mi. N of course at times, I will pop by e rm to spot chk.... Haha... Juz kidding. But will go over to see e bb la.

My mum has been insisting mi to haf plenty of rest during tat 1 mth. She said resting well, sleep well, eat well for tat 1 mth to nurse e body well which is impt.

I told my mum to acc mi during tat 1 mth eventho haf CL coz dun feel really secure leaving bb wif someone I dun really noe.
 
Kimmy, one of my gfs insisted on resting during that 1 mth. so, she will latch bb on at 12am, and the next latch on is 6am. in between, if bb wants milk, if she has excess BM in fridge, CL will feed bb with that. If not, bb drinks FM. She has 2 elder kids and a pair of twins.. all from ivf. she told me, we have to take care of our health... confinement is v impt to us. If we are healthy &amp; strong, we can give better care for our bb in the future... i will take note of her suggestion &amp; see how.. coz my pain threshold is v low. if really end up c-section, i also doubt i can do any night feeds.. also, cant make ourselves too stress.. later post natal blues.. even worse right?

that is why, i plan to get a part time cleaner to come in 1-2x a week to clean the house. taking care of a new born is not going to be easy coz, the initial days, we still dunno bb's "patterns", temperments, etc. there will be alot of guessing game until we (incl CL) are familiar with bb... vice versa. though my mum is around to help out, she also has my bro's household &amp; my 2 elder niece &amp; nephew to attend too. So, i rather have more help &amp; be relaxed during that 1 month...

Yes, all are right. Fr my last experience, my CL sleep with my boy n when need breastfeed at night, she will knock on my door. Sometime babies past urine or motion or create noise in middle of night, is CL job to help take care so we can nurse back our health first. U will hv plenty of chance to take care urself after baby full month. First month is for u to rest. Infact, i prepare a bed n cot in a room for them so that after bathing or when change pampers or cloth diaper, she can easily place baby on her bed to do all these.. I feel is necessary for CL to sleep comfy too since she take care baby, hsework etc whole day. I let her hv a nap in afternoon too..;) yes, for marketing, shd be ur hubby n mil or mother do it then CL just incharge of cooking..;)

Do rest well today n drink more water. Take care..

Maybe is too early to see baby hb now since u r at 5 wk plus only. U go scan early right? When is ur suppose scan date at kkh? Dun frighten urself now.. At least u see sac now..;) Cramp is common now as ur uterus is expanding for baby development.. Jiayou n take care..;)
 


Hi ladies, thanks so much for your input. Seems clearer to me. I guess when I met the CL agent, I just wasn't prepared with all the requests. And after also checking with some friends who used the same CL, they told me to just ignore the agent (that's ideal list) and that CL is okay sleeping on mattress or sleeping in same room as mommy if really have no spare room.

Ron - thanks for the suggestions. haha yea really need to rest till CNY comes but thankfully after i switched off air con and opened windows, my nose ain't dripping as much (although yes its hot and I need the fan facing my direction permanently). haha. I'm intending on breastfeeding too but what I understand from my CL is that at night she usually request moms to express and she bottle feed so that she doesn't interrupt mom's sleep. Perhaps I'd try to request for latching on till 11pm feed and then 3am CL can bottle feed....will see how that works out.

Hazel - Yeah i told my CL agent I don't have spare bed, can't expect me to buy right? So she said ideal to have bed. So I'm just going to get a mattress anyways. But will you insist on the door being open or can be closed for CL and baby? Marketing I'd most probably pass to my MIL tho she may not be happy having to be the one that has to shop and buy things but like you said, regarding $$$ and CL, is a bit tricky for the trust part.

Bbliss - ya I think so too Haha now slowing down my pace. I need to recover soon so that I can finish up my packing in the room then go on to washing bb clothes after CNY. hehe. Yeah my mil told me CL bring bb over to mom's room for feeding but I guess I will also wanna see baby like when CL takes her noon nap or something...I agree rest during the 1 month is impt. It sets the pace for us to take care of our babies after CL leaves...that's why while mil keeps telling me CL room in with me better so I can get used to baby's routine after CL leaves, I also appreciate agent telling me that for 1 month to just focus on recovering from delivery etc.

I guess I'd have to think it through and see how. Probably when CL takes her nap, I'd request my mil/mom to watch over baby for those few hours. My Mil keeps telling me how cuz my CL charge cheap so she can afford to be more demanding whereas people used to have to pay TMC/my mil about $2900 so they demand more like my mil had to cook for husband meals, wash husband clothes too and hand wash bedsheets. I'm not sure about my CL hand washing my bedsheets. First time I"m hearing this. And even for hand washing, only for my bb clothes. My clothes CL will put in washing machine.

Alamak. So many things to think about, so little time.
