Havent been keeping up with the posts here.. it's been a crazy first week!

hmm i think i will avoid pacifier as much as i can.. but i know my sis gave her BB pacifier at times to soothe her.. especially if they are outside and she keeps crying.. but i m not sure when she started giving though..
 


Is already one week since I delivered but milk is not in yet. Yesterday saw a few drops dripping, so happy. After that, back to dryness, no engorgement at all.
When'll my milk be in?

I also have little milk supply but I'm still trying..
I express 1hr to get 30-40-50ml milk each time.
I monitor the flow.for first 10-20mins there was flow, subsquently for like 5-7mins I could be getting empty pump..then milk came in for about a min only and no more.
I hope I can do this for at least 3months which I tell myself I must..
Btw I gave birth on 9may12. Reached hospital abt 10pm, delivered by 1130pm..memorable process

My Hubby seek advise from my gynae that If I continue to be down n cry, ask me to stop confinement. Cos confinement period also stressed.


By the way, for natural delivery, usually took how long to recover? I'm still feeling abit pain down there since my delivery on 22 may. Was wondering if I walked too much and hinders the recovery

Ya, my milk supply also diff among the two side, one side is always more than the other. But the milk supply will really increase as we keep pumping. Drink papaya with fish soup also helps alot.

Miss Freedom - My 3 week old is drinking 80 - 90ml every 3 hours. that's during the day. during the night, he cries for milk every 1.5 to 2 hours. so you're lucky yours is a morning baby. I don't get to sleep much during the night.
Anyway, when i brought baby to PD, he said that based on baby's current weight (3.8kg), he should be drinking 70ml every 3 hours. But IMO, we should just follow the baby's cues for now.
 
Esteelin - I'm also contemplating giving baby pacifier, esp during the night when it's hard for him to go to sleep. But really trying very hard not to.
I caved in for my first 2 gals. 1st gal, i gave her during the 2nd month. 2nd gal, i started giving her during the confinement period, because really exhausted from trying to soothe them. End up i had alot of difficulty weaning them off the pacifier. My 2nd gal is turning 3 soon, and she still refuses to give up sucking on the pacifier. Everytime we take it away from her, she will scream the house down. So this time, I'm trying really hard not to give, but the rest of the family keep asking me to. Really feel like no support from the family on this issue.
 
Ak..I think 1-2weeks pain will go off..
Did doc give u pain killer? Lotion & spay for below wound?
Don't stand too long & rest more
 
I gave my bob pacifier twice, but both were for approx 10 mins to soothe him. He kept wanting milk and to an extent, was feeding him 100ml-50ml-70ml within 3 hours. He just ant get to sleep despite rocking him, patting him and cuddling him. Finally I popped the pacifier into his mouth and he slept within the next min. After about 5 mins, I will pull it out. Not sure if this way is gd...
 
Miss Freedom: I'm doing the exact same thing as you! I guess it wouldn't be very much of an effect on the baby. Sometimes baby dun even want the pacifier
 
Need to check, when you thaw the frozen bm, how long can it stand for till you need to discard? I know it can be stored for another 24hrs in the fridge but once heated up, how long can we keep it for before feeding?

I read somewhere before, milk to be consumed within an hr after heated up. At times I will throw away the milk if my bb still can't finish within an hr. So heartache!
 
My gal is more active at night, and will want to feed hourly before she goes to sleep after midnight. I tried to give her pacifier after she's fed, but she get even more agitated! Still failed after 2 nights.
So is there a way to introduce it?
 
Juski and py: thanks! Yup, my gynae prescribed me with medicine and the antiseptic lotion for application. But finishing soon. Now waiting for my post natal check up, hope my wound is healing well ;)
 
Hi mummies,

Anyone hv good female Gynea recommend? I am suspecting I may hv post labour issues but don't feel like going back to see my own Gynea as he keep brushing off my complains of pain and pressure down below as part n parcel of recovery. It's coming to a month after labour but I m still in a lot of pain . He jus says my uterus is low and peliv floor kinda dropped ask me do peliv exercise will do.

I am in so much pain I can't care for my baby since I can't walk or stand for too long. The

I would like to see a female Gynea who is patient n gentle for second opinion.

Could anyone advise if I nurse upOn demand, do I still need to pumP every 3 hrs? My bb tends to fall asleep thus will wake up fast and then I have to latch again.

My 2nd bb is born on 27 may at mt A...
My current milk express out is 50-70ml..bb every feed drink 70ml.. I wanted to increase my demand soon any tips?
And btw when I latch on my bb will suck for half an hour per side and will hungry another one hour later..so I have to heat up the milk n feed him again..so now I prefer to bottle feed then latch on.. Will bottle feed lower my milk supply?
 
Hi, I m June mum to be. Would like to ask if really need to buy nipple cream? Heard stories abt nipple bleeding, cracked etc.. Wat brand of nipple cream is gd n where can I buy? Thanks.

some people say no need to buy nipple cream as the best moisturiser is your breastmilk.. but its up to you.. i did buy the medela nipple cream.. not sure if it works cos i still had bloody n sore nipples due to incorrect latching.. basically have to ensure your bb is latching correctly.. there shld be no pain if he does it correctly..

congrats!!! wah your milk supply is already more than me though my bb 2 days older.. to up supply they say drink more hot beverages such as longan red dates tea, milo.. drink green papaya fish soup.. if not can also eat fenugreek or motillum.. actually better also to latch on cos bb suckle is the best.. pumping will not be as effective.. so to up supply better to latch on..

Hmm my one week old bb is now drinking 75ml every 3 hours.. used to feed him 60ml but he is always seem so hungry after the feed n keep sucking his hands.. i m feeding both BM & FM..
 
Does anyone encounters lower milk supply after engorgement? I had it on my right breast and has been cleared but supply dropped from 80ml+ to 40ml...
 
Jenny, I thought no need to buy nipple cream, cos I tot just use Breast milk. But on first day of delivery we tried to suckle but baby left a blister on my nipple, first day no milk ma, den second day it still hurts although the swelling subsided, I told the nurse about it and she gave me the medela laninoh nipple cream. It's good, the wound healed v quickly. Now I'm at home and will use it as and when nipple feels sore. I say it's good la.

Early morning I already backache..noon start contractions but not so frequent & pain..till about 5pm then pain abt every 5mins..but I'm not sure if it's real..I dont want go hospital and come home..till about 9pm+ start to get more pain.. But bearable. I wanted to wait till midnight then go hospital, haha since almost end of day, but my husband look at me say better go now..if i dont want go first can still wait in car..haha
But later become more pain on way to hospital so went straight to labour ward.. Get changed then take photos..haha

First one I took epidural really relax.. This time I didn't take and was really am unforgettable process
 
Ayana, the medela nipple cream after apply need clean b4 feeding or pump?

Yingz, I too had sore nipples & cracked due to incorrect latching. After that I stop trying to latched & express out for a week. After wound recover, then I try latch on.. Sometimes bb ok sometimes can't..most of time she drink miserable 30-40ml top up with fm.

as far as i know, its ok not to clean off the nipple cream..

i have stopped latching for now, and am pumping every 3 hrly.. i m going to see a lactation consultant on Mon.. hoping to solve the prob of incorrect latching and low milk supply.. mine i m doing alternate FM then BM+FM.. cos i one pump only around 20ml.. def need FM to top up to his appetite of 75ml..
 
Yingzz, did u take any supplements to increase milk supply? My first bb time also only 20ml..
Anyway I saw people drinking sxx tea (ha,dont want adv for them)which increase milk..I'm thinking of trying too.. Though I have been drinking another type now recommended by my friend.
I think I read before regarding breast tissue..I think maybe my breast didn't increase in size during pregnancy..so also limited output of milk...my guess..

Hope breast oso din increase in size this is nt the factor that cause low supply..cos my breast din really increase in size..btw hw much is yr supply nw?
 
wu py, did you also try motillium + fenugreek? for me i didnt try because i wanna go the 'natural' method first.. which is drink more hot beverages.. papaya fish soup etc..

Wu, according to the instruction in the box, no need to remove b4 bf, so I nvr remove, but some friends kiasi kind will remove first, so up to u ba.
 
Hey I got a problem .... For 2 night my bb will drink her milk around 12 plus then after that ahe will not get back to her sleep till morning 5 plus or 7 plus... What should I do??
 
Just curious... for those who stop bf, why are you stopping and how do you do it? Need to get prescription from doc to prevent engorgement?

This happened to my bb too. In the morning after my nanny bathe him, he will stay awake from 9-12pm. And at night for no reason, he will stay awake from 7-11pm. My nanny said bb can't be sleeping whole day. So he will be wide awake at certain timing. Perhaps you can try keep your bb awake for longer hours In the afternoon? or to change some timing to disrupt the pattern.
 
I would like to know if this happens to any mommies...my bb will feel sleepy and fall asleep during feed. However, because he poos, I will need to change his diaper. And this wakes him up and I have to coax him to sleep for the next 30 mins or more. Do you change the diaper right after feed since is soiled and risk your bb waking up? Or you will just leave it and change when he wakes up?
 
Freedom: I will try it out with my bb.. Hope it works.. I change my bb diaper when it is full ... Got no choice if u wake ur bb up... It's better then bb have rashes ~

We will change immediately when the bb poos.
I am unsure if I am being paranoid but both my CL and helper will always ask if my bb is asleep when I BF and I am finding them irritating. Here I am trying hard to bf as my bb will fall asleep and I will attempt to wake him and cont feeding (this bf process sometimes take an hour). I broke down today and told off tt when bb is ready for them, I will handover to them. Dunno y i feel that they r trying to take my bb away..Just to share my frustration here.. Maybe hormones are acting up here... Really, tiring but got to persevere..
 
Mummies: papaya, fish are good for milk supply. For supplement you can take fenugreek. But do remember to massage ur breast before you pump. It ll help to clear clots n ease engorgement.
Yes the "baby blues" are kicking in. Talk to ur hubby when ur hormones are not messing with ur emotion. Get him prepared so he can help u handle CL or MIL. Such as closing the bedroom door while u feed. Explain to them u r not ready yet. Just remember that they mean no harm.
Words such as "is ur milk enough" may just be their concern that baby is hungry maybe FM ll help n u can rest. ;) but I know as mummy we try to avoid FM if we can BF. but to them they ant the best for both of us. Bb well fed n mummy well rested. If u r feeling blues just go in the room n rest.
 
Kitty, my bm only 30ml 40ml.. But that is after pumping for 1hr. Sometimes I overslept & din pump for 6-7hrs will have 50ml. This am got 60ml. what about u?

Yingzz, I did not take tablets supplement only drink tea to increase milk..

Did u use hot towel clean breast before pump? After cleaning milk will start leaking.. Maybe u can try too..
U pump for how long? Now how many weeks after deliver?

I did clean off too the nipple cream after apply thou box says no need..
 
Btw, if after pump breast feel soft, does it means no more milk?

When u all say pump 3hrly, 3hr starts from starting time of previous pump or end time?
Start 1pm ends 140pm
Next start is 4pm or 440pm?
