(2011/08) Aug 2011

BabyDreamy Queen, i would also recommend angel wipes cause its the cheapest & there's no soapy feeling like all the other brands...so i feel it's just like a wipe with water, i think i saw in JL @ marina sq before...i bought mine last time from the supplier online but she doesn't supply anymore..i manage to find a small shop opp my ger's PD in yishun that sell..its $1 for a sm pack of 30pcs and $1.80 for a pak of 70/80pcs..

BBQ, oops, did i remember the price wrongly? will go home and check...

oh, i bought main bulk of the baby items from kidzloft sale for #1 -- do look out for it!

janice, i m getting milk powder and pull ups from luvbabies, too [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

pink daisy

I also saw Dr. Tan for my #1. I just went to see Dr Tan last Tuesday & I was 16 weeks then. I also asked her to scan for me, she tried but she told me couldn't see anything prominent, ask me to wait for detailed scan to confirm. My next appointment is on 22nd March which is also my detailed scan.

babydreamy

John Little has a sale from 2 - 6 march, cardmembers get additional 20% off sale items. I'm looking at the catalogue now, there's sale for Avent & Nuk too.

PiPi

Last time my friend who went to TMC for her checkups would ask me to help her get Obimin from KKH pharmacy, it is really much much cheaper. For prices on baby items, got to look out for promos, like that time I managed to get my Fitti diapers at 2 for $19.90, then NTUC was selling at $14.90 per pack, so really depends on individual supermarkets' promos.

~Mei,

the fitti diaper is those velcro type or tape one?

for birdnest, i used to take towards my edd, took every midnite when i wake up for toilet..

my #1 got fair/ rosey skin

~vonnes,

haha.. i m juz curious only coz i was adv to take towards the edd..

but seems like mommies quite active in consuming the birdnest le, and they r more experience than me so i believe is shld be a good time to start birdnest now [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

~Mei,

u bought for NB?

fitti velcro diapers r very good, i used to order from them directly but the price up le.

$19.90 for 2 sounds cheaper than buying directly from supplier

cutie, not NB, I bought XL for my #1. I love this diaper, no leak at all. I used to order from the supplier as well, deliver to my place but I think they no longer have the carton promo.

~Shane,

maybe for my case only, last time i saw TV show, the lady also took during midnite like 3-4am, said that's the best time for body to absorb aft our body detox

i took at midnite is coz i will still puke so in order not to waste the birdnest then i take at midnite when i m not that awake to puke etc loh ..

my #1, i took from the 9th mth everynite until i gave birth..

that's y i m quite suprise wf my #1 got rosy cheeks coz both my hb & i dun hv loh haha..

Today had gynae appointment but hubby last minute meeting cannot finish.. so had to postpone appointment.. so sad.. cant see gender today then.. wait one more week.. oh well =)

Patricia,

I'm 17 week.. not showing too... mostly still wearing my normal clothes too... only some maternity pants for comfort... the no-craving, n no-showing part makes me worried too...

Anyone bought the baby heartbeat monitoring machine??? i saw one at Mums & Babes.... v keen to get.. but hubby say dun waste money...

Hi nitestar,

so funny, we are the opposite...my hubby is v keen to get the heartbeat machine to listen to baby as and when he like at home, but I am the one telling him 'dun get pls, dun waste money!'...haha...

I think once you hit the stage where u can feel your baby movement and kick, you wun need the machine le...coz everyday the baby kick, you will know the baby is still surviving well in your tummy...and if suddenly one whole day never kick, must quickly go see gynae to see what happen...

So conclusion, no need buy the machine lah...haha save $$ for diapers and milk powder...[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

nitestar/mummy yan: hee my hubby also keeps wanting to get the heartbeat machine! But I keep telling him please dun waste money! he wasnt even so 'on' for no. 1.

But Im keen to get a baby monitor with screen to monitor the little bub when he is out

Hi MTBS,

Sorry need to ask you guys a silly qn cos I seldom go to supermkts. May I check if Giant has a large variety of baby stuff...(ie: baby wipes, wash, clothes, that sort of stuff)

I have the baby heartbeat thing, can only hear during last trimester. It's a novelty thingy lah, I would say don't waste the money. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Shane,

He's only 30 months but has to upgrade to Mamypoko XXL , vv exp lo ....

wondering if there's other cheaper alternatives.

Mamypoko can use up to 25kg .. so can store alot but then he still uses 2 pieces per nite ...

I am going to KKH for review on the 8th .... so hopefully the CVS results are ok and also I can get to know the sex of the baby ....

Read earlier that someone wants to check prices for? Do PM me and remind me to check .. u know how forgetful preggies are .. kekeke..

Also, I bought the GAINIQ 'S', the pink color one from KKH, it costs only ard $35+ .... org price was priced at $38 .... so i think its cheaper than outside?? Me dunno cos first time buying for this pregnancy.

Also, u all started eating fish oil oredi ya?

Wonder why I am up at this hour? baby dun wan sleep lo .. i think .... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Now i super awake after eating maggie mee .. Ramen .. *burp.

Patricia,

I'm at weeks too and my tummy is showing. Perhaps I've got a tummy to begin with, so the pregnancy just accentuates it even more. Heh. My gynae also said that my lil girl is on the longer side, thus the bigger tummy?

Well, don't worry. As long as the scans show that your baby is growing fine, that's all that matters. =)

Carole:

An update on the gender of my precious - A girl. =)

Hi nitestar n fleur, tks for sharing.... 1 more wk to go before my next appt. Also hope can know gender by then. ;)

Shint, u made me hav craving for maggie mee too!!! Hungry now.....

Mei,

thank you for telling me, I thot can hear from the time we detect heartbeat! ok.. really can save the money then... but yesterday, i heard a horror story.. a mummy lost her bb at 2 weeks to full term.. baby died in womb due to strangling umbilical cord.. she managed to check bb heartbeat regularly in clinic to find out tt bb heartbeat stop... the gynae knew abt the umbilical cord issue, but only asked the mummy to monitor herself....

Hi ladies,

Those with ms, how's it going for you? Mine still on now despite being 16 weeks. But now it's really MORNING sickness coz I feel giddy in the morning only. So most of the time I stay in the staffroom during morning assembly coz on Monday my head was spinning while singing the national anthem. And I quickly held on to the pillar nearby. Hope this clears soon...

Altho this is my 3rd bb, I'm still paraniod when I dun feel movement. Yesterday I was worried coz didnt feel any movement for whole day, until I had a piece of chocolate fudge cake during teatime and there's movement. The power of chocolate [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

good morning mtbs [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

pinky_daisy, m also 16 weeks n ms is still with me -- puking almost every meal [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] juz gotta bear with it... console ourselves that bb is growing well :p

nitestar, when bb is bigger and the movement is more pronouced, we r suppose to monitor bb's movement daily... if u feel something amiss(less movement or no movement), do check with the gyane immediately... during my #1, i will coax bb to move by sweet talk [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] sweet stuff also make bb more active...

i m so busy with work and #1 that i dun hv quiet time to feel bb movement -- bad mummy [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

i'm a first time mummy and don't really know how to differentiate between baby's movement and my ligament stretching. i do feel some tightness/throbbing on my tummy sometimes but i just think its ligament stretching...

can experiences mummies share how its like to feel bb's movement? [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Shint> i've started taking the fish oil already... the capsule is so huge. Yucks

nitestar> so sad... but how can the mum monitor the cord? will be too late by the time mum feels no movement...

pink daisy> I haven felt any movement yet... sometimes some fluttering feeling when I sneeze. thought usually mum can feel movement from 5th month?

Talking abt baby products, my colleague just shared with me NOT to use any baby powder with TALC (talcum powder) content as they causes cancer and breathing problems... I went huh?... any idea which baby powder are safe for babies?

babysee, you can buy talc-free ones. I got mine from California Baby. I think most organic brands will be talc-free.

Morning all MTBs,

hope u all enjoy last weekend mini gathering, looking forward to see u all soon shld there be the nxt gathering... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Am approaching 15 weeks soon and have started to take bird nest as well, heard they say best taken with empty stomach early in the morning so i tried ;) MS as usual strike in the evening but not as bad as 1st trimester, getting better [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

PiPi> i also compare some of the price outside with KKH and realli is cheaper, wat is the items u want to check cos i have doc review this afternoon - u can send me email in fb [email protected]

Re: Baby stuffs

only intend to buy it after week 24 cos by then shld know & confirm bb gender and more easier to shop, now only can look around... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

cp240, i started feeling bb movements from 20 weeks for #1 -- tickling feeling when bb kicks [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] play some music or tap on tummy to see if bb response... can't wait for the amazing feeling to start [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

nitestar, that's life of FTWM with #1... take heart that #2 will learn when we talk to #1 -- haha, #2 must be overdosed with mickeymouse club house (#1 will watch daily during her last milk feed) :p

babysee, i din apply powder for #1 -- juz use baby lotion...

Hello all mummies!

I don't know if I'm rushing into it since I'm only in my 17th week. But I'd like to start buying necessities for the babies before I balloon up. =P

I'm not sure what are the things I will need to start off with so, I'll need your help.

1. wet tissues

2. nappies in the smallest size???

3. bath tub

4. bouncy chair

5. cot

6. baby clothes

7. diaper/nappy rash cream

8. baby soap / shampoo

9. baby powder

10. baby nail clipper

Is there anything else I missed out?? I super blur now. Too many things to buy and stock up!

~soulvacation,

personally i feel nappy should buy the standard or bigger size, small is too small le, cant last for long

1. wet tissues (pigoen)

2. nappies in the smallest size??? (bigger)

3. bath tub (stardard size is enuf le, buy rubber bath mat to prevent slippery if u want to)

4. bouncy chair (is it those net type, big is good coz they out grown very fast)

5. cot

6. baby clothes (anybody to pass down some to u?)

7. diaper/nappy rash cream (used dropolen {cant rem the name exactly le} for my #1, not ex and good)

8. baby soap / shampoo <johnson bath and shampoo>

9. baby powder <johnson>

10. baby nail clipper (personally i tried the scissor type, easy to but bb so i used the small nail clipper which i find is good)

I checked already....pigeon stuff at KKH is indeed 5% cheaper than normal retail price.

And for Taka Fair, for pigeon regular priced item, it will be 20% off.

Hope this is useful for some of us.
