Michelle, hang in there, u can do it! Try not to bother too much with those negative comments and concentrate on the encouragement and support given by your hubby & family. I had latching and milk supply problem while I was in hospital and it was really tough to persist with BF as what many other mummies have experienced. After I am home, hubby went to buy nusring pillow and Fenugreek for me which made things better. Now I still have to endure the constant super disencouraging remarks from my mom (she's doing my confinement) but I try to focus on more positive thoughts like support from hubby.
Fenugreek: I think it helps, at least for me. I didn't have any supply for the first 2 days in hospital and after I came home on the 3rd day, I started taking Fenugreek and colestrum supply has been increasing. Although the Fenugreek consumption direction says 1-2 capsule a day, the GNC person say for breastfeeding mummies we can take up to 8 capsules a day.
Nursing pillow: for mummies with latching problem, you can try getting a nursing pillow. It's very useful for me as it is so easy to position the baby. I can even go hands-free after baby latches on.
