(2010/07) July 2010 MTB

DQ,

dont be upset, no matter what way bb comes out.

Most important is that he comes out safe and sound. C-sect mums are still great mums!!

Breath.. hope a miracle will happen.

dont stress ok, the more u stress, the more bb stress.. they do know.

cheers and all the best girl!! jia you!!

DQ, can you ask your gynae for oxytocin drip? It is more effective than the tablet coz when they gave me tablet it didn't work at all until the oxytocin drip.

suntan, I just realised that my details were updated wrongly. There is another Kat whereas I'm tagged as bopeep with EDD 26 July. Appreciate your help to update pls. Thanks!

Don't be upset.. must think for baby. Most important is he must be healthy. Did they burst ur waterbag? Is that why you need to go Csect?

Jiayou! Tomorrow you will hold your love one in your arms...=)

DQ don't be upset. Just think, by this time tomorrow you'll be able to hold your precious bb in your arms! like what grace said, doesn't matter what way bb comes out. keep us posted ya, congrats in advance.

jaclyn, oh, that's what tummy time is. we've tried it a few times, my bb lies flat leh but she doesn't like it. will squirm & eventually cry. we'd read that tummy time is also good for strengthening the neck muscles.

cherry.sue, thanks. i'm thinking of taking my bb to pd tomorrow. hopefully she can prescribe something for her.

thx gals... feelin emo cuz I've chked in w the intention of natural delivery... guess I'm still digesting the info on needing to go thru csect.

anyways, so far no drip was tried on me.. n even the tablets inserted were half tablet each time.

cuz I've inborn condition... hence gynae only wanna put half tablet.

gg for csect cuz we've tried for more than 24hrs since the first tablet was inserted.

gynae can't break waterbag cuz no dilation at all...

n he suggested csect cuz of my condition....

I'll b fine gals! juz tat feelin emo n haf been tryin to digest the info. n havin too many 'wat ifs' in my mind. n husby no helping as men r factual animals. they dun seem to understd wat I'm gg thru.

will update u all when my bb is here!

thx for all the concern n support!!! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I'll b strong!

DQ: All the best! We will wait for your good news~!

Mummies.. the nite cycle has began again. My baby simply refused to sleep. Put her on bed, she cries.. carry her, she falls asleep in your arms. I've fed her, changed her nappy, and do whatever i can. what shall i do? even when she is not tired in the day, she doesnt react like that..

Jaclyn -- my girl was like that at first. after like 3 tummy times, then she learn to stretch her leg.. but she will try to crawl and lift her head up..

TERRIBLE NIGHT!!

my bb refuse to sleep after feed so i let her suckle for comfort and she sucked (milk).. then after 15 mins, she never sleep wor! then i realise she wet herself cause the diapers i put loosely cause she is trying to kek poo and i tot if she kek then the diapers will be tight ma..

so nevermind.. i change her lor.. who know.. she spit milk cause she was full then she suckle for comfort then i never burp her cause i was busy changing her.. ok.. nvm... then she wants to suck again.. i let her suck lor since she spit quite A LOT.. then she slept.. who knows.. my hubby came into the room and asked a stupid qns.. then bb wake up AGAIN.

and guess what?

she spit again!!!!!!

and this time was quite bad..

poor girl.. i bathe her while she was half asleep.. then finally lay her down on the bed and she is now asleep.. so poor thing la!!

i see her my heart so pain. now i thinking if her tummy is empty, is she hungry? is she scared? haiya.. now i put her on my bed so i can watch her all the way..

hope she forgets about it... i promise i wont make her suffer this way again. im such a bad mum

Seems like most of us experiencing sleepless nite n cranky babies!! Me tried bottle feed my boy at 7+pm today to prolong his slp.12+am again. End up he manage to slp thru slightly longer n not so cranky at least for now. Pray hard!!

thanks mummies for responding to my qn! really appreciate it.

coz my bb has to be warded to hosp for jaundice yesterday.

at the nursery, i passed the ebm to nurse, telling her around 60ml every 2-3 hr for bb rough gauge. of coz she add if bb not enough. nurse looked at me, say no need, 100ml (which is what is in my EBM bottle) bb can take. i was quite puzzled , asked her 5 day old drink 100ml?? nurse say why not ??

hi mommies.

jellypurin reporting my birth story. bb is off to be circumcised today and am updating my birth story while he gets the "cut"... keke

a little drama, hope will not scare some mommies cos i was affected...

19 July

On HL since i could not move much (got too big). Whole day lower backache plus mini-show

10pm

put my #1 to bed and went to bed also with stabbing pains on my vaginal. not thinking much, continue to slp

20 July

330am

stabbing pain continues at intervals of 3-5mins. told husband, think we go hospital, think am hvg contractions but shd be early

415am

reach hospital. got strapped on ctg. contractions coming in 1-3mins ... duh moment for me!

445am

mid-wife did VE... was told i am 9cm dilated! double duh moment for me, this time together with my husband *jaw drop* cos we thot we were in early labour. mid-wife ask if i wanted epi... i said yes

530am

epi in... bb heart rate drop... mid-wives concerned with anesthesiologist and tried to "wake" bb up by shaking my tummy violently... bb's heartbeat picked up again...

8am

prepare to push as epi running out... pushed for almost 45mins but bb is not out... bb heart rate drop again... doc came and said must intervene after another VE. bb in bad natural delivery position... he was slanted to the left of tummy eve though he fully engaged. forceps used and at 912am, bb sydney is born and i cried cos i was so drugged and sicked from the epi that i din know what was going on with him!

hubby also cried...

so here's the drama... but all is well now [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

congrats JP!!!

it's my turn tdy!!!

*thumpthump*....

I'll b wheeled into the OT in exactly an hr's time!!!!

really mixed feelings sia!!!!

JP,

Congrats again! Ur boy so fast can be "cut" alr?

DQ,

Wah ur turn alr!!! Jiayou k. Dun be scare. We "Jing Shen Shang zi ci ni"!

Mummy with more than 1 kid- do u treat #2 e same? I realize I have somehw neglected him. I think I favor #1more [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Vivi: me dun have no.2 this is my no.1 but i alrdy feel no.1 will be favoured than no.2 alrdy.

Reason:

All cloths no.1 wear 1st

Al items no.1 use 1st

You put your 1st experience all on no.1 so no.2 u alrdy know quite alot expected stuff so won't gan jiong

I think alot more reason but i did talk to my HB before, cause we planning 2nd one. That is why we hope can get a gal the next so treatment might be abit different. Hah.

Ceres- tats y I dun wanna hv #2. but hb wants so Bo bian . I tbf #1 for 2 yrs but for #2 I feel so sianz n tired n dun feel like bf n resulted ms to drop Liao Also not so hands on when comes to handle him. Feel sorry for him.

congrats JP! Glad mummy & BB are safe.

U mean your boy get circumcised @ RH? By the PD or who?

All the best, DQ & rest well after your delivery.

DQ >> Hey babe, all the best. You'll have Howie in your arms real soon!

JP >> A big congrats!

Jaclyn >> Hmm..Am thinking why am I forcing him to my boobies. He'll cry n fuss for a reeeaaaally long time before suckling. He's got a strong suckle so if he wants to he can nurse directly. Then he cry so long also not good for his belly. He drinks 90ml from the bottle in less than 8mins, vs 2hrs+ on my boobies. My org plan was to nurse directly for 6mths then pump out n bottle feed till he is 1yr. Am thinking of just skipping the direct breastfeeding part and just pump n feed...sorrie..me so lor soh..think my milk flow is just not fast enuff for him now.

Vivi: ms drop? i think is because u know more so dun feel more hands on. Think is normal so dun think so much. As long as you take gd care of the children is ok.

Actually they are still small so i feel is ok. they won't know much. when they grow up dun let them feel which u love more.

hi mummies,

just to update, my bb girl, Renee, 19th july, 3.24 kg, 52 cm, at TMC, Gynae : Dr geraldine tan

suntan: thanks for updating the table

congrats to all mummies who have popped, think 3 other mummies share the same birthday as my gal..

cheers!!

Jellypurin, Geri & DQ Congrats girls!!! Welcome to the land of not-enough-sleep hahaa! :D

Pris: Haiiii me too. If im not so stubborn, I already long time just express and feed him via bottle. So much easier on us and others can help to feed. But im really stubborn leh. Also i have other reason to want to breastfeed cos otherwise.. your time with the baby will be 'stolen' away and everyone else will wanna feed the baby instead of you. I do give my nipples "off days" though. Like today... my nipples have a break!

Congrats JP & Geri...

All the best DQ! Nothing to worry about c-sect! If you need information on the aftercare, just sms me....

same as Pris, I much prefer to pump and bottle feed my gal compared to latch her to my breasts... she takes 10 mis to finished 60 ml...

Just had my first postnatal massage with Mdm Mariam... yay she said i already need three days of postnatal massage... she started off with breasts and said i got engorgement, and massage them...very very painful... but she also mentioned my milk supply good, so the pain is worth it :p

Congrats jellypurin and Geri!

i realize my bb jus wants to be cuddled to sleep at nite or else she wouldnt slp on the bed.. when i carry her, she slowly falls asleep. so last nite i had to carry her till she slept for 15 min. then i slowly transfer her to my bed and i lie beside her. end up we slept together like that till morning, her back leaning against my chest.

my mum says she just want my smell.. but i scared she used to it lor...

Mrslong - I pumped more than I latch my baby gal...cuz my baby gal cant empty my breasts so I always pump after I latch her... I think the idea of supply is to empty your breasts every session in order to produce more the next round?!

mrslong: I dont think it will decrease.. it might not increase though. You have to pump very regularly. One thing is that if baby latches onto your breast, less wind will enter as opposed to bottle feeding. So if you bottle feed.. make sure u burp all the time. Else milk might come back out.

Eliss: yaaa the engorgement massage is damn #$@*$ painful. I always tear! But nvm.. engorgement means alot of milk means good problem to have ya.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

so it doesn't really matters if we pump or latch BB to stimulate BM supply rite?

cuz i hv a feeling i may end up pumping than latching BB lor...after reading most of your posts abt nipples crack, etc. So scary!

Hi mummies, when should we start tummy time on our babies? My baby is 2 weeks old n I did not know anything about Tummy time until i read some of the posts here. Should I start her now?

Vivi: hmm.. maybe like wat others said.. try put an effort pump milk out so milk supply will increase? since now u on ML try make full use of it for BB n u & the 1st child cuz more time to spend.

Mrslong: I weigh the pros n cons of latching

1) bonding time with baby (dont underestimate the importance of this!!) especially if you have ppl in your house that want to carry your baby all the time.

2) when baby latches, that is the best way to remove milk from your breasts.. a pump can never extract as well as your baby can.

3) Convenience. No need to keep sterilizing or preparing milk when you go out etc. You are baby's milk supply.

4) Can always switch to bottle eventually.

But but theres oso some cons with latching.

1) Painful at the start... if you dont know how to latch properly, ur nipples will become sore/cracked... make sure u see a lactation consultant when you're in the hospital.. its free then. If you check out and want to see.. must pay.

2) Damn tiring .. gotto wake up when baby wakes up.. starting its almost every 2 hours (but its the same for bottle feeding unless you have a helper)

3) bottle/teat and pump must keep sterilizing after every use.

4) If you bottle feed constantly and wanna switch back to latching, will take alot of work since baby will be used to the milk flow of a bottle's teat which is much easier than your breasts.

To me...for now.. the main thing is still the time and bond with my son. maybe after awhile I will give up and just purely pump out milk..

Hi all..

regarding pump can i check.

After latching i.e. on right breast, then BB finish aslp we should pump the left breast is it? right breast need to pump?

Then later BB wake start from left breast right?

mrslong, benefits of latching is direct so no risk of loss of antibodies. direct is always the best and promotes supply but the downside i feel is bb always can't clear the breasts totally so end up have to pump the excess still [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] and i very troubled whether is bb having enough ....

its a lot work but i guess this is motherhood.... nipples after toughening is just a phase, will be seasoned but in the meantime have to tahan the seasoning.....

I agree with Pillow!

also less colic issue with direct latching. Lesser work so i might rather stay awake & be tired. But i dunno how long i can 'tahan' also.. cuz i got no experience at all. heh.

for mummies considering to get dual pump, i highly recommend medela freestyle. for my #1 , i used ameda. for #2, i used freestyle, a big difference. in less than 10mins, i can clear the breasts. very efficient

with the freestyle, i pump 100ml in 8 mins every 3 hrs (i am on day 6-7 now) and i am done. breasts will be cleared so its really fast.

vivi,

I share the same feeling, I think I favored #1 more, and I still spend most of my time playing and caring for #1, rather than the baby. For my current #2, I also bond lesser with him too as compared to #1 2 years ago. Felt somewhat guilty, but not sure how to handle this.

Hai, think most prob i have to pump out, cos i have problem of inverted nipple on one of my breast which they say will hinder direct latch..

peace and vivi, initially i also feel the same. till yesterday when i have to ward bb to hosp for jaundice, at the nursery, looking at her and cuddling her, i realise the bond is not any less at all.

i actually broke down in the hospital uncontrollably although jaundice is such a common problem. i told my hb, i totally feel for #2 and there is no diff #1 or #2, as they are our very own children. i guess only when meet with such situations, then we realise our true feelings deep down.... it's there, just that we don't realise it.

take your time. they will be with us for years [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]
