hi, I did an instructor course on Baby Yoga which includes a short segment on massage. Try to use organic cold compressed vegetable oil, preferably non-fragrance. Do the massage when baby is in a quiet alert state, with eyes wide and bright, lying quietly, relaxed. Avoid the umbilical cord, which is unhealed and the delicate skull area. When babies are young, they may only be able to tolerate very short sessions. Massage when baby has empty tummy or at least 45min to 1 hour after feeding. Easier to start with massage of chest, stomach, legs, then arms, face, back.

Do you sterilise the pump items after every pump? Or sterilise once a day?



What is the time gap for each pump session huh?

Will you just pump one breast or both breasts?



Would you combine all pumped milk to container or will you keep separately... I'm only pumping about 30ml each time...

DQ>> I asked Allison the other day when I had my individual PS. She said best to take infant shoot within 2 weeks or so...and best is before BB's cord stump dropped off. But I think for me, I wld want to wait till the cord stump drop off then take photo.



Entering Wk 37 for me this week too. Have a feeling BB's is still feeling comfy in there, though like no space to move liao and he's still moving a lot.



Within me, I am hoping can deliver next week but then am only on ML the following week.

DQ, Amelie looks more chinese than mixed when she was born. but she's changing everyday. her hair gets lighter, and features also change. very interesting to see how different she looks today compared to when she was born.



Eliss, i also only pump 30ml each time. don't pump often because i'm feeding my bb every 2hrs. worry if pump, then no more milk when she wants to breastfeed. i sterilize every time i use the pump.

lasery: is your cervix dilated? my gynae say I can opt for induced next mon too ( 39weeks) but with little/no dilation, the chances of e.c.sarean is high so I am still thinking.

oh regarding the use of wine for cooking of confinement food, I remembered reading an article somewhere. In it, it mentioned that we should be careful when cooking using wine, cos even though the wine evaporates during cooking but if a lid is use during cooking, it may condense back and hence wine is still present in the food. just a small note ya.

 
Yest b4 I slept, suddenly was reminiscing the past 9mths....how I discovered I was preggie to the 1st checkup & BB's development. Really amazing..and somehow I missed the feeling of experiencing "the first" - emotion, hearing BB's heartbeat for the 1st time, 1st scan of seeing BB's body, 1st kick, 1st hiccup, etc [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I share your sentiments. I found out preggie after I broke out in hives (whole body sort) and gone for acupunture and drank some chinese herbs to get rid of whatever toxic that caused the flare. Scary man, I was abt to have another round of acupunture when I asked my Chinese physician to check if I could be preggie... just got that tingling feeling and wanted to be safe..



Bought test kit and secretly tested at home.. then Vola! Struck! I just left the test kit there on counter top. Intending to let hubby find out himself [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

my BB's umbilical cord dropped off on the 2nd day back home... the PS i think take little pics only cuz my BB always cries or she will move away from Allison pose... yar a bit waste money...



I think I'm getting depressed liaoz... BB has mild jaundice when she discharged. Tomorrow due for checkup. CL said BB jaundice level seem quite high and she has heat rash... and was not feeding well... so many things plus the pathetic pump yield, makes me want to cry every time i think of these...



With the jaundice and BB always sleep - how to wake her fully for BF, let alone recover from the jaundice....



argh...

Don't be upset. Jaundice is pretty common de. Heat rash is also very common. Tackle one thing at a time. CL said the jaundice high? How does she know?

 
How's the whites of her eyes like? Yellow? If so, take her to poly for prick test. If confirm high you'll have to take her to hospital the soonest.



Being inexperience then, I didn't know my son's level went up a lot and he was yellowish. Luckily I got a retired nurse to come in to check on me and bb. One look at BB she quickly asked me to take my son to polyclinic to have blood test done. Ended up the level was very high and I gotta rush down to hospital to get PD to examined my son. Then immediately warded. I was darn guilty then. PD told me if level went up further, it becomes very serious and BB had to go for blood transfusion.

BB is also very lethargic? That's also another sign. May get dehydrated and jaundice level may climb... not to frighten you but... that's what happened to my son then..

 
eliss, my bb also has jaundice. i rented the phototherapy machine so that i don't have to admit bb to hospital. supposed to be only for 2 days, end up renting machine for 6 days because jaundice didn't go down much. my bb also sleeps all the time, impossible to wake up for breastfeeding. such a headache...

 
For expressing, you need to relax so that letdown can occur... or take papaya with fish soup, or take supplements like fenugreek.

DQ, according to my mum...chu yi babies tend to be more stubborn , naughty and diffcult to look after..i also duno but then wateva lah..still my son..how diffcult also gotta face him..

 
DQ, haha today never lazy, i just cooked one HUGE broccoli with 2 eggs, never eat rice though, cuz the rice is for hubby to cook fried rice later in the evening, i will be his assistant later! Then will grill salmon, i don't eat fish often, everybody says must eat more fish T_T.. Then eat fruits lor, morning had cereal, so i had my carbo intake liao, also milk.



Junie, i rem when i found out i was pregnant with this baby, i was very very worried rather than happy! cuz had a miscarriage late august, supposed to wait for 3 cycles, but hubby and I miscalculate my ovulation date lol.. well, glad that i have made it so far, and one year after the miscarriage, our dream come true hehe! everyday i look at my tummy, will think.. wow.. this is real and it's happening! still rem i was so kanchiong during week 4 n week 5, cuz dunno whether this pregnancy will be like last time or not, blighted ovum. i went to KKH 24 hours women's clinic and told the nurse that i had brown discharge (cuz at first i told her i want to do a scan, she said cannot, cuz the clinic is only for emergency), so i said i saw brown discharge wor (bluff one la!) then i got to see the gynae hahahaha! and saw the sac and yolk, then i happy liao.. but still continued to worry until the 1st tri was over.

Eliss, don't be upset, will pray that your baby's jaundice level will subside soon, yea don't be affected by your CL's comments, bring baby see doc instead if you are worried.

 
Lasery, haha! I also don't believe in the chinese calendar thingie, but i believe in the pay day thing, is a good day! hahaha! I am also 1cm dilated with soft cervix (yesterday went for check up), but don't intend to induce, you are so brave!

Sweetkiss: Congrats on the new addition. Hehe!!



Eliss: Don't worry so much. It is normal for baby to develop jaundice. Just bring BB for a check up tomorrow. I am sure the PD will do what is best for baby. Just be calm and relax.



As for milk production, if BB really not enough, then just mixed with FM to feed. It's ok. Like me now, I also not enough to feed my boy. Just give FM lo. To me, I just give as much BM as I can. My flow is very irregular one.. first pump can hit 70ml.. then 2nd pump abt 50ml... then subsequent pump only merely 30ml. But so what.. we just try our best to provide whatever amt of BM for our kids.. and also doesn't mean FM is not good. I am a FM fed baby.. i grew up ok.



So dun stress yourself with all these things. When our babies grew up, we have even more things to worry abt then. Like what kind of hairstyle is that, so young have bf/gf, why so stubborn, etc.. hehe!! I can't imagine dealing with all those teenage problems.

When I 1st find that I'm pregnant, I also cannot believe... Now being a mother.. will know how wei da a mother is... =)

Like you, i only found out i was preggy when i was sick. At that time i was down with flu and fever and went to see doc. Doc prescribed some medicines, but before i took the medicine, i have to feeling of what if..so i went to buy the test kit to try and volia..hit jackpot..in the end, have to go back to the GP and get another set of milder medicines. Think we all have very good 6th senses..lol.

Hang in there.. its common to for bb to have jaundice. For the first one, i cried buckets at the hosp when they say admit bb. For second one, i was expecting it to come. so was calm.



go for the review with the PD tomorrow. they will do blood test. if have jaundice, they will ask to admit. I think stay in hosp will recover faster, cos the nurses are on 24hrs shift. and the beds lights are both sides.. at home, cos we bu she de, so may recover slower.



as for the milk, the theory is demand= supply.

so just pump loh, every 3-4hrs if u feeding bottle.

Jus went for gynae check yesterday. baby already 3.5kg. supposed to go induce next wed morning. hopefully baby can come out b4 then. Is inducing very painful?

 


eliss -- my bb also have jaundice.. i latch her every 2 hours instead of 3 hours during the day so she can pass more urine and motion to clear her jaundice. these 2 weeks jus work hard a bit to feed, once her jaundice is gone, can latch her every 3 hourly liao..



jia you! i also very hard pain.. but PD say her jaundice will go off in 1-2 weeks and didnt let her go back hospital during her first check up...
