(2010/06) June 2010 MTB

missbluey, don't fret and keep positive. I got you and BB in my prayers! The amnio takes a few seconds but will take 2 weeks before you know the results. I forgot to pre-empt you to inform the nurse when you register that if you want to have faster results, it takes less than a week but must pay just slightly more. So if you managed to read this before you go, you may wish to consider that. But faster results means they draw more fluid from you compared to the normal procedure. If you can wait 2 weeks, then better to just go for normal procedure.

Good luck my dear! Hope all goes well and it was just a scare and the results are only good ones!

Missbluey, stay strong & positive. We shall pray for a good result together[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

thanks all for your concern & prayers.

i chose not to go for amnio test. cuz even if i know the results, there is nothing i can do, perhaps i might end up more depressed after knowing the results. just keep praying for bb lor. hubby keep assuring me everything will be fine. frens have been telling me tests are not so accurate. plus im only 27 & no family history of ds, so it shouldn't be a problem. but whatever it is, this bb will be my precious bb - God's gift. i feel that if i go for the test, im making him to suffer and feel that im not trusting my own bb.

missbluey....good that you have make ur decision, now just concentrate on eating well and keeping yourself heathly and happy, there are many false results too, dun dwell on it too long k, it may be a false alarm. Take care!

missbluey - you are indeed very positive and strong, it is great! and you have great support from your hubby and family and us here too. continue to trust in the Lord and stay positive and happy and thru'out the pregnancy, i'm sure your bb will feel it too. you&bb are in our prayers.

JIAYOU JIAYOU!!!

btw, i think the white spots u are talking abt is 'echogenicities'.. research shows that e risk of DS is very low only 1.4% with the presence of white spots so it also means 98.6% are normal kids with white spots, dun be too concern abt it k. i guess the sonographers/gynae just have to report to u what they see to also 'safeguard' themselves.

TMC stay and bill

Hi mummies, just to share since i delivered at TMC 2 yrs ago. All the wards have been renovated and their single room and even the 2 bedder are quite comfy when i visited my fren 8 mths ago. Food wise, i really cant remember.. :p too long already but definitely i finished most of them cause i was so hungry during bf.

As for the bill size, initial deposit is $800 i think and i stayed in a 2 bedder previously, total bill after deducting e medisave component is abt $1500 for baby and myself so have to top up another $700 i think. All charges are paid at the end when u are ready to check out from the hos. deposit will have to be paid upon reaching hospital for delivery. Rooms will have to be booked abt 2-3 weeks before delivery thru your gynae.

Other than parking which can be a bane for visitors , everything is fine. Try not to opt for valet parking cause super ex.

I mentioned this before, if u need glass bottles for storing milk can get from the nursery, if u need the caps can get from parentcraft. Hope this helps.

mummies,

a sincere thanks for your prayers, im really touched. im just glad that i have a very supportive hubby, until now, i know that he is calmer than me. =p

genice,

i forgot how the spell the medical terms, only know starting with "en", not so whether its echogenicities.

missbluey,

glad you have made a decision and just pray the best for your bb [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] my hubby and i thought the same too - so we skipped the tests. heard of many cases that are false positives - and they are glad they stick on to delivering the bb [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] praying and hoping the best for you and bb!

Jojo, PatL -

Weight Gain

I weighed myself at the airport on sunday... put on abt 7kg in total, now 60kg! when i went for gynae checkup on 2nd Feb, i was 59kg. So for the 3wks (2nd-21feb), i put on abt 1kg.

It was very tough for me during CNY, was really controlling my food intake (except for the pineapple tarts!).

Wow....is the weight gain is 0.4-0.5kg per week, then will put on another 8-10kg by full term!!!!

I'm already feeling so heavy, can't imagine how it will be then.

Hubby is also forcing me to eat now, keep scooping rice and dishes to me. I told him i will eat only nutritious food, not junk. more veg, meat, fruits, milk, yogurt, wholemeal.....less carbs and no titbits.

I steer clear of all fastfoods, it easy for me coz pre-preg, i don't eat fastfood anyways. Being in BKK also quite good, coz i also don't take much of the thai desert/snacks. But back in spore, temptations are everywhere...my favourite chwee kueh and soon kueh and nonya snacks!!!

Breast Pump

Anyone can advise which breastpump to get? Medela or Avent?

There are frequent spree by Tan Leng Leng on Medela PISA pumps, abt S$460 incl shipping, but warrenty in USA.

missbluey,

looks like we not only have the same Gynae, but also similar worries for our baby.

i went thru amnio coz baby heart arteries are switch, need surgery after birth. My amnio test shows everything is normal, did extra test for heart problem-which he doesn't have.. luckily.

Just pray hard and be positive. Sad also no use.. my crying period is over, juz hang on, eat well, sleep well so that you've d energy to go on. At least baby is healthy in d womb 1st.

Baby is fated to be with us, he's a gift and a challenge for us...

Be strong k...

Re cot/playpen

cot will be a better invesment! Cot has 4 levels of adjustment and it helps you to carry baby in and out easily.. Personally I hate playpen as is impossible for me to carry baby out when baby is sleeping.. I just change my son to a bigger toddler bed after using 2years of baby cot.. Surprisingly is still in excellent condition that #2 can use it..

Go over to kakit bukit baby kingdom.. Cot sellin there is much cheaperthan outside and quality is good too.. I bought mine the biggest size cot at only 299 and it can convert to toddler bed too..

I do have a playpen too.. Cheap ones are near 100 good ones cost 200+ so must well get a good sturdy cot..

Day time new borns are always sleeping.. While bb is awake, can put bb at rocker instead.. Till bb is more awake they won't want to be confine in playpen and soon they will be crawling around..

Re strollers

I already got a quinny zapp last mth. Now getting a carseat to attach on it so for now my son will be using the zapp first..

Decide not to sling my baby since newborn as I sling my son till nearly 2 years old as he hates stroller so much.. He prefer us to carry or sling him instead.. So I will make #2 sit stroller since his full month or we have to suffer throughtout the first few years carrying bb while shopping!!

Pat, are u refering to csect with epidural? I had mine woth my last pregnancy. Can see bb right away when bb is out. Hb also can be inside.. But I'm not going for epidural this time round.. Is too painful for me and is very scary to insert the epidural when you are not in pain at all..

Missbluey, hope u are okay... Please think positive.. Miracles do happen yea.. Hope your result tml will be a good news!

Missbluey, jiayou!! I admire your boldness. Trust in the Lord always He will not bear to let u and your baby suffer. As baby is gift from God. Do not believe what your eyes see.. but trust in the Lord that save you.

Moreover, they said there is possibilty is DS but they can't ensure is 100% is DS, so don't let them judge for you.. you as the mother of your baby, you should trust your baby, is fearfully and wonderfully create by God from the above.

Miracle will happen when u believe in Him. Jia you uh! Will pray for you too.

good morning ladies

missbluey: awe.. -hugs- pray for you n bb be fine. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif][IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] nice to know your hubby is supportive. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

u're a strong gal missbluey... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] jiayou with baby and hubby and take good care of urself.. try to stay positive and i'm sure baby will be able to feel that mummy is fighting alongside him..

omg lilysnow u only put on 1kg in 3 wks??? good control lei!! i put on abt 2kg since my gynae visit on 5 feb... now getting abit paranoid over the weight gain speed.. the kilos just seem to pile on so easily these few weeks..

rachel,

heart arteries are switched meaning?

yup, i will be be strong for bb. no use crying as it won't help in anything.

missbluey: leave it in His hands [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] may He give you the peace you need!

all mummies: wondering if anyone of you ever encountered orangey-coloured urine in this or previous pregnancies? my GP friend says its most likely because i'm dehydrated.. won't deny it cos i dont drink much in the office, only drinking when i'm thirsty. but trying to change my habit and sip more water throughout the day now... just wondering if anyone one else has such experiences? i hope its not something else..

Azureoct - normally, my first pee in the morning is deep yellow, think coz don't drink much water thru the night. so in the day, i drink alot of water, minimum 2-3litres per day, and pee is normal, light yellow color.

mayb you want to try and really drink more thru'out the day and see if your pee change to lighter color. if pee is like "tea" color, pls go see gynae.

drinking more water also helps to reduce the probability of having water retention, and help "cleanse" the body/heatiness.

lilysnow: ya, i get the deep yellow one in the morning too. but i got the orangey ones at least twice yday... so got me a little concerned. but been drinking more since last night and this morning.. no sign of orangey urine so far [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] phew!

Hi Missbluey,

i really admire u. i like ur decision. of cos ur baby will be well n healthy. there is so many reason to prove that u will not have a DS baby like wat said u r only 27, no history of DS baby in the family and dun forget ur fisrt boy is so healthy n clever. i believe the di di also will be healthy. the detail scan result is only a reference no one really know what's happen inside ur body. as long as u think positively n believe in ur baby i know everything will turn out good. whenever u feel down or lost ur confident just look at ur boy n tell urself this baby is gonna be like the brother. dun bother abt the result ok? we all will be with u n together we will withness this miracle in 4 months time.

after reading some posts on the beds for your babies to sleep... has anyone made the decision to either use baby cots, cot-to-toddler beds or playpens for the baby? i'm still undecided as i wonder what are some of the factors which we need to take into considerations.. like i'm highly likely to have to go for c-sect, so i will need something with a good height so that i dont bend over too much and hurt my c-sect wound and back.

anyone of you came across any discussions or reference sites? or a general guideline on the features, pro & cons of the different options available?

i just come back from my gynae check up this morning. everything is fine. today doc measure baby weight n say is average. i saw my baby tummy so round so cute. i also saw baby face. beside i also check with gynae regarding drinking red wine n doc was say i shouldn't drink but what done is done n if only 1 glass should be ok. ask me not to drink again.

missbluey, my gynae did mentioned that the tests are more geared towards a false positive and there's high percentage of bb who came out fine despite poor results at the tests.. so believe in you and your bb...

Hi Bluberi,

i collected the pre-birth kit oredy. Thanks for the infor. i like the kit very much. now i can paste all the ultra sound pic in the bb journey book so good. my baby have her first album le. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

irma: thanks for the link! i think 'demoting' hubby is out of the question... anyway, i dont think its safe to put 2 babies on the same bed :p and.. i wld like them to sleep separately from us at a young age so that we won't have problems making them sleep in their rooms in future. *fingers crossed*

Dianajs

The pre-birth kit is available in the library. Just show your NRIC, fill up a simple form at the conceige, the person in charge will give it to u.

azureoct: no worries. cant have a rm of bb's own for now, coz im staying with my mom, only 3rm flat.. maybe in future when have new hse of our own.. agreed abt in future they dun want to sleep in their own rm.

jalgal, u r most welcome! i have not pasted the ultrasound pics yet.. coz dunno they will fade with time anot. feel like laminating them 1st. wonder if anyone ever laminates the ultrasound??

Hi ladies, have u all found your CL lady ? I'm having a headache now coz my mum backs out telling me that she will nt be able to do my confinement for me...therefore,need to find someone to do it...have no idea of engaging day- CL or full-CL,any advise?

Missbluey, glad u made this choice.. dun worry too much, i believe everything will turn out fine for u and ur baby.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I'm having ear block since i'm awake today.. dunno if it's link to my flu.. sigh.. kind of irritated by it..

Re: babycot/ playpen

Thanks for the advice - i'll ask my hubby to get a babycot instead, more practical. And maybe get one with casters so i can roll the cot around. So usually a babycot can last the child abt 2 years?

Saw some white color cots on the Baby Kingdom webbie - very pretty. anyone has bought white ones before? is it hard to maintain?

BluBerii - think the u/s pix will fade, even laminating it, will fade. best is to scan the u/s pix, then print out as photo quality. at least you'll always have the softcopy and can reprint anytime.

juliiana,

yep i've booked my CL. better try to book one asap. mine is from m'sia so of cos she's full-time - she has to stay at my place.

it really depends on your expectations to decide to get part time or full time ie. do you need her to do feeding / changing for you at night?

also, is there a significant cost difference between part-time and full-time? if not, then get full-time lor [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

jasmini, i want to buy white colour cot.. but i scared will turn yellowish later on. i also realise white colour cots usually cost abt $20-$30 more compared to those brown colour cots of the same model.

Lilysnow, thanks for your info. shall scan n print it out before pasting in the bb journal.

em.... ya good idea should laminate it first. never laminate an ultrasound b4. i will try to do it at bras basah center. hopefully the result turn well.

Missbluey,

My baby got TGA condition- vessel suppose to go to the rest of the body (with oxygen) is now going to the lungs, the vessel suppose to go to lungs (de-oxygenated blood)is now gg to rest of the body. So bb will recv 'blue' blood after birth. So need to do open heart surgery to switch the vessels over.

It's a big operation, success rate 85-90%. Have spent quite alot of $ on checks etc. It just happens... altho our health history is good.

It's juz fate, at least he has a good chance of survival.. Just pray hard and be positive.

In my womb, he's doing fine and growing well. Hope he'll be a fighter after all the ordeal. ;-)

So missbluey, don't worry too much, keep ur spirits up, at least urs may not be absolute DS. Good luck to u! ;-)
