Ainsley,
For the missing borders, you might want to try this. But I am not sure if that is something that you are referring to.
Sorry ah, my 职业病, whenever I see a IT prob, I will test it out myself.
Are you trying to turn this:
<table border=1><tr><td>Test11</TD><TD>Test21</TD><TD>Test31</TD><TD>Test41 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test12</TD><TD></TD><TD>Test32</TD><TD>Test42 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test13</TD><TD>Test23</TD><TD>Test33</TD><TD>Test43 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test14</TD><TD>Test24</TD><TD></TD><TD>Test44 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test15</TD><TD>Test25</TD><TD>Test35</TD><TD>Test45 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test16</TD><TD></TD><TD></TD><TD>Test46 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test17</TD><TD>Test27</TD><TD>Test37</TD><TD>Test47 </TD></TR><TR><TD></td></tr></table>
to
<table border=1><tr><td>Test11</TD><TD>Test21</TD><TD>Test31</TD><TD>Test41 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test12</TD><TD></TD><TD>Test32</TD><TD>Test42 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test13</TD><TD>Test23</TD><TD>Test33</TD><TD>Test43 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test14</TD><TD>Test24</TD><TD></TD><TD>Test44 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test15</TD><TD>Test25</TD><TD>Test35</TD><TD>Test45 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test16</TD><TD></TD><TD></TD><TD>Test46 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Test17</TD><TD>Test27</TD><TD>Test37</TD><TD>Test47 </TD></TR><TR><TD></td></tr></table>
If you are, then you can try the steps below.
(assuming your are using Excel. I am using Excel 2007)
<u>Step 1.</u> type \ch{nbsp} on an empty cell and do a CTRL-C
In my example, I have all the data from A1 to D7. I typed the word "\ch{nbsp}" (without the double quote) in a empty cell, which I have chose F7. Then I do a CTRL-C (to copy it) on F7.

<u>Step 2. Highlight the range</u>
in my example, I highlight A1 to D7
<u>Step 3. Press CTRL-G</u>
<u>Step 4.</u>
Click the "Special" button and select the "Blanks" radio button and click OK
- this will select the blank cell in the range that you have highlighted in Step2.
<u>Step 5. Press CTRL-V to paste</u>
- the result should look like the one below
(if you can't see the above image,

You are done!
<u>Step 6. </u>
You may then do the usual copy/paste of the edited table into this forum.
Please ignore if this is not what you wanted or too complicated. I'm just being curios to try out the "function".
