Can I check if we are sick when scheduled for induction or C-sect then can still proceed?

I have been down with cough and flu for a week+ but dun seem to be recovering

sleek, that's what my gynae says also. she says generally earlier also earlier by one week only. but induction got 30% chance end up emergency c-sect. dunno how..

thinking of asking my hubby to come back later le, so that he can spend more time with baby. but scared i might give birth anytime. dilemma.
 
yuki - if sick then cant do c-sect.. u better ask ur gynae.. mayb not too serious kind.. mayb oki..

Canopy, the PD @ TMC is horribly crowded and noisy hor. I find it is quite a small outfit considering TMC specialise in women and children.

najmom and sandy, i just squeeze out one teaspoon of colostrum and feed bb. just nw gt latch him for awhile. hehe.. will jiayou !! btw, how long will hind milk kicks in?

Jeanie, abt 4 day milk shd start coming in. Need to latch abt 15 mins each side so bb get the hind milk which is more filling and nuritious.

Me also sunning bb...but Dec not much sun lor!
 
GG, okie. will monitor. but my latching skills is very bad. cant position properly. dec is really no sun lor. today is noon sun which is useless. but my PD says if no sunning also nvm cuz bb will recover by itself as he grows older and liver more developed. really ar?

sandy, dr fong got tell me baby can stay inside mummy's womb till 42 weeks. provided all necessary criteria are met. like bb's heartbeat, amniotic fluid, etc etc.. after that then induce.
 
Jeanie, initially not easy to latch, will get better as u try more often. I find breastfeeding lying down sideway easier. Actually very tempted to get the breastfeeding pillow also cos normal pillow not high enough if using cradle position, end up keep arching forward which is bad for our back..

As for jaundice, my PD told us to sun him twice a day. But has been difficult with the rainy weather. PD then told us if really no sun, then use normal light (like study lamp white light) also can. We also try to put him nearer window most times, even if no sun, hoping it helps a bit. Not good if jaundice too high, I think best to be able to lower it asap lor. Also feel bad when u see ur bb a bit yellow.
 
hi to all mummies,my gal came out last monday safely.my details , sun 7am admitted cos got bloody show,waited til nite but cervix not open.by 11pm contraction was getting more n more painful n frquent,took gas to relieve.by 2am took pentitine cos gas like not working wor.actually i wanted epi but hubby say still so early n my cervix still not open, so tahan still.by 4am i was screaming for epi n doc gave me.i was 4 cm dilated oni den,each time dey chk my dilation i burst out in tears cos it was so painful plus the contractions!aft my epi, doc burst ny waterbag @ bout 6am which was a huge relive.9am chk oni 5.5 cm ,still long way to go.den by 12pm oredi 9cm. i tot good, 1 more cm i can giv birth liao,cos doc say nid to open til 10cm,den sudeenly @ 12.25pm nurse said bb getting distressed inside n heartbeat not stable le.doc didnt want to take any risk so i end up emergency csect lo. my gal weighed 3.37kg at birth. now still got alittle jaundice. other den tat all is fine.i was tat close to having natural birth, but as long as bb is safe n healthy can liao, doesnt matter.
 
Carol, congrats! Yes, most impt bb is safe. C section is not dat bad. You also get to see bb immediately. You will recover quite fast also. I was walking by next day already. Enjoy ur motherhood

hi mummies,Im now at tmc waitin for doc cum n put medicine for induce.. So excited n scared coz 1st bb didnt experience dis process now goin thru for my 2nd bb..

Was at TMC from morning 9+am to 4pm. Did gynae check and Raelynn went for PD check today. Luckily jaundice under control though still need to sun for 3 more days. We did her birth cert today too.

Saw LC today too. They spent 2 hours on me. Good news is my baby is latching well and my supply is good. She drank 75ml when latched on (they actually weigh bb before and after latching each side), I'm impressed. After that, she helped me massage and ask me to pump, and I pumped out about 25ml.

Bad news is I have breast 'congestion' due to leftover lumps from no. 1 so she said that I'll need to visit them once every few months to clear. Sigh.

At least she helped to clear as much as possible and she also taught hubby how to massage for me. Only paid $50+, very cheap considering the amount of time she spent on me.
 
o carol, how come u 9cm dilated le still cnt give birth naturally ah?

cos baby distressed cannot wait for you to push already is it? but the thing is both of you are safe..

Ladies.. i have deliver my baby girl.
She is 2.78kg, born on 6 dec, at almost 4am!!!!!

I went to my gynae Dr Jocelyn wong ACJ clinic at 9am, suppose to put the induction pill. End up she check and say I am 3cm dilated, and having contraction, so do not need to have the pill. (eh i can't even feel the contraction ahhaha)

She ask me to admit but i did not bring my things so went home to get, had breakfast, took our own sweet time and reach TMC only at 1145pm.

Check into the labour ward at 12 plus pm and change into the robe, got the poo poo medication pump into my asshole. And the waiting game begin... Gynae came at 4pm and say oh my dilation very slow progress, only 4cm. So put on drip to dilate it further... and wait...

630pm, start to have very bad contraction and call to use epidural. Eh i dun really like the doc who gave me the epidural, i had heard another Dr who was doing a girl next to me, he is definitely more patience and waited for the right time. Mine did not wait for my contraction to stop, so when he inserted the epidural needle, pain at the back and the contraction pain in front, double attack!!! I scream like hell.

1130pm, 9cm dilated... my mom and sister came cos tot 1 more hr to 10cm, and should be able to see baby... unfortunately 1.30am, 9.5cm dilated... and waited, 2:30 am, my mom sis went home hahaha

from 2:30am i start to push with midwife, push until can die. 3plus am, dr wong came and i think she cut me and ask me to push again.. realise im pushing correct but baby face dunno why face upwards, maybe cos she poo poo inside my womb. Push and push and push till face almost explode.. finally at 3:45 am, daughter out without using assistant (forceps or vacuum).

JOB DONE.... i almost gave up at last min.

wow, the LC really good hor.. and ur bb can actually get 75ml in 1 feed? dats very good!! i can latch my gal for 1hr after that she still cry for milk n got to cup feed her.. haiz bt now im trying to latch her more often n it seems to help, im trying to motivate myself not to give up on direct latch
 
Today went checkup, doc did ctg detect one contraction but I dun feel pain just tummy tightening, he said cos I'm almost 35yr old blood vessel is usually thinner as we get older so do not encourage me to carry full term next checkup if cervix has soften will consider induce and put me on drip liao...I told bb to come out dun let doc force u to come out ha ha

Btw, anyone keen can try auntie su for postnatal massage.. she charges $50 for 2 hrs, tink very reasonable price and she will massage and wrap ur tummy... only pay her on a per session basis... last time she massage my no1 for a while, she saw his genitals and confidently told me my no2 will be gal and it really is!! Din know she's so accurate... her no is 91390549. Can tell her recommended by Daphne from Jurong West...

THese few days there's a bit of uncomfort. Tummy, back, V area. Think I am dilating bit by bit.

Went for my gynae appt today. 39wks and 3 days. Baby is estimated at 3.6 to 4.2kg. So scary. Strongly prefer natural. So going to induce on wed morning. So sad. Tot can let baby come out by himself. Only dilated 1cm and according to gynae, can tahan for close to another week but baby would be too big. Estimated that given my size, a 3.7kg baby is already a 50% chance that I can go for natural. So we decided to induce and try. Hopefully can manage to deliver or maybe Kynan is actually smaller than gynae estimated weight.

Tonight is my last time that I could sleep peacefully. Tml night sure cannot sleep well and have to wake up early to settle my no 1 before by appt to induce at 9am.

Hope it will be a smooth and fast delivery. No 1 with induce was abt 30hrs

#1 induce 30 hrs?? that is long man... pple say #2 will be easier and faster!! dun worrie!! =)
 
Hopefully. BF is another torture for me previously. Haha. Hopefully can jia you and dun give up and establish a good supply as before. But really a lot of hard work as my milk supply is pretty slow and bad type. So really become a moo moo cow. Latch fpr close to an hr and express for 20mins after that to stimulate supply

miumiu, cos hubby and CL brought bb to Dr Ong's clinic while I went to ACJ clinic. The appts were 915am and 945am so we had to split up. I saw Genesis in one of the consult rooms when we were both busy BFing. Aiyah, my 25ml is credit to LC who helped to massage and loosen my lumps. At home I can only get 10-15ml too. :p

Roxy, I'm surprised too. But the weighing scale doesn't lie. No wonder BB is always not so keen on the second breast. LC said in the 10mins that BB took on my right side, she got 30ml means she already got the hind milk. So when put her on left side, she took own sweet timet to drink with LC burping in between but she took 45ml in the end. :p

Just now, fed baby from 10-10+pm, took longer cos she pooed in between. At 12 midnight (after settling no. 1 who refused to sleep), I pumped and got about 35ml. Quite happy liao.

Leen, jia you. Hope you have a smooth natural delivery.

Demand equal to supply. Just keep putting baby to the breast, supply will definitely improve.

miumiu, EBM can be combined, but the temperature of the milk has to be similar. Just put the EBM from each pump session directly in the fridge after pumping, and combine into one after couple of hours.
 
Gd morning mummies! Wk 37 update: My baby has turn head down! Tonight I will be admitting into Mount Alvernia and will induce into birth on 9th Dec.

Shall update you ladies again! Still at work today. Training my temp staff.

btw how does contractions feel? my MIL says its like tummyache feel like going toilet but i read that some say its like menstrual cramp...so confusing...

i was having some menstrual-like cramps this morning for quite sometime...so pain that it woke me up from my zzz but after that no more pain...not sure is that contractions or not...anyone can advise??
 
janiz, yes contraction pain is like menses pain too. To some its also like tummyache pain. Some its more like a radiating back pain. U may hv some contractions juz now. But maybe its false labour. Juz monitor ur contractions. Each shd be 5 to 10mins apart and lasting abt 30 to 50seconds n faster admit liao.
 
thanks lileen....now no more pain though...hopefully baby can endure a few more days coz i'm still taking the antibiotics as i failed my swab test...sianz
 


aiyah, dun worry. Juz talk to baby n hv more rest. Had menses like pain abt 2wks back but till now baby still happily inside.
