Time really flies! It's been a week since i popped
Congrats to ALL the mummies who have popped too! It's time to enjoy our bundle of joy yar
Okay, sorry for the delay, here's my birth story:
3.30am - woke up with slight contractions, dismissed it as braxton hicks/menstrual-like cramps as what i've been having for the past 2 weeks...
3.45am - The pain came again (bearable), so decided to go toilet try poo, it might be just stomachache, which is also usual for me for the past 3 days.. In the end no poo, wiped my V and realised that there's slight redness in the discharge... got a shock, look closer, and started to wonder if this is it! Went back to bed...
4am to 7am - The cycle carries on... Pain/Contractions occurs every 15 mins (but still bearable), wanted to wake hubby up and tell him but refrained myself when i saw that he was snoring away... This might be his last time having such good sleep in weeks to come, haha!
7am - Am already very anxious, woke hubby up. Tried to convince him what i'm feeling is different from usual. He kept asking me to relax and try to sleep somemore.
7.15am to 8am - Tried to catch some sleep while leaning against the bed frame (cos contraction pain is at its worst while lying down flat) Meanwhile, hubby also try to snooze for awhile...
8am to 9am - Both of us got up, bathed (Yes, i had a real good bath!), last min preparation of the hospital bag (toiletries, camera, hp chargers, documents, etc). Hubby also smsed Dr Adrian to let him know that i'm having contraction and will be coming in the morning. While doing all these, contraction is still about 15 mins apart, lasting 5-10 secs each time and slightly more painful (I started to grab hubby's arms/Bang the table)
9am - Went out of the house, i got sudden craving for economical bee hoon, so hubby drove to the coffeeshop and tabao a packet for me and a packet for himself. Drove to a nearby park (near our place) to eat in the carpark.
9.15am to 10am - Finished our sumptuous breakfast (Yep, i finished the whole pack while having contractions, amazing?) Headed towards Dr Adrian's clinic right after.
10.30am - Reached ACJ clinic and was asked to clear my bladder before being strapped to the CTG machine (Dr Adrian has already informed his assistant that i was coming in). So, did exactly what i was told.
10.35am to 11am - While being strapped, hubby was happily switching between channels on the tv. When the contraction comes, i quickly asked hubby to let me bite his hand (of cos he didn't allow), then he grab the paper towel beside the bed, rolled it up and asked me to bite that instead *faints*
11am to 11.15am - Heard Dr Adrian's voice outside the room, and soon after he came in with the assistant. He did a VE and said i am already 4cm dilated!! I couldn't believe what i heard, that means i'm already halfway there!! He added: "If things go well, you may be able to deliver tonight, or rather judging from your progression, baby should be out by dinner time! Have you both had breakfast? Go grab brunch and can admit to labour ward already."
11.15am to 11.30am - Should we just walk around TMC? What shall we eat? Shall we catch a movie? Where to go? Haha, both of our minds are in a swirl. "Think we just stay around here, very dangerous for you to go out now eh, sekali you deliver while eating." hubby said. But i didn't want to. Being strapped also pain, walk around also pain, i rather choose the latter! So.... In the end, we headed to Thomson Plaza (8 mins drive away - nearest shopping centre i guess)
11.40pm to 12pm - We've reached Thomson Plaza's carpark. Hubby decided we shall start sms-ing friends and relatives bout baby's arrival. So we stayed in the car for 20 mins (almost) sms-ing people and also trying to let the news sink into our minds too. Received alot of well-wishing smses and prayers too
And yes, contraction pain is still as bad!
12pm to 12.45pm - Went into the mall, looked out for Ya Kun Kaya Toast (gonna have something light since we've already had breakfast). At this point in time, every step takes me 5 secs! Can't even take a bigger stride, so was literally taking my own "sweet" time waddling around. Even the auntie at Ya Kun asked me if i'm going to give birth soon! Haha, think it was written all over my face
1pm - Reached back at TMC. Went directly to the observation room, while hubby settle the admission paperwork. First of all, was given the blue gown to change into. Next, was being strapped to the CTG machine again and the nurse asked a full load of questions (i.e. Do you have any drug allergy? Do you have any pre-medical conditions? Are you on any medicine? Is this your first child? How many cm are u dilated? etc.. etc... etc....) Imagine having to answer her in between contraction pain, i hope i did answer her correctly, haha... Anyway, she went on to ask about my weight, and i said 62.8kg as per last weigh, then she say she's not pregnant and already is heavier than i am *diaoz* The conversation went on with what exercise i do prior to being pregnant... .... ....
1.15pm - Was given ecnema to poo (It's like a syringe of water which is inserted and purge into the rectum directly). The feeling of diarrheoa came almost instantly!
1.30pm - Finished poo-poo and washed briefly with the shower available. Went back to being strapped on bed. Intervals between contractions were getting shorter and shorter, i felt like screaming each time to pain come!
2pm - Dr Adrian came and burst waterbag. Contraction pain doubled and its frequency shortened right after that! I was then offered the gas to breathe and i held on to it eversince! Hubby also did a good job helping me hold the gas when i was really really HIGH! Kept on pushing, but the nurse kept forbiding me to (How to not push when the urge comes? Moreover i was already so HIGH...)
5pm - Finally was pushed to the labour ward (all the while no labour ward was available), heard Dr Adrian's voice, saying it's almost there, can see bb's head le.. My hubby also tells me i'm doing a great job, bb is almost out!
5.22pm - After 4 pushes, finally i heard his cries
A sudden gush of water came out with him too. Baby was put on my tummy that very moment. Then suddenly i felt a jab on my left thigh while Dr pulled out my placenta (no feeling at all). Thereafter, he gave me 2 stitches. (Can feel tugging and slightly stingy). My exhilarated hubby quickly took some pics and did the paperwork while i was recovering from the 'highness'..
6pm - Pushed to ward and dinner was served 10 mins later
