oh..u don't sterilise all his items including his milk bottles? can ah?! hmm..yeah, actually come to think of it, my girl also sticks her fingers in her mouth during bath time!

sandwich
oh, but my girl not quite 6 mths old yet :p but soon. i'm steralising everything including her bowl and spoons for cereal feeds. now with the baby cubes, my steraliser can't fit in anymore, thats why i'm checking if need to steralise or not.

hey can i just ask you, the healthy times biscuits for teethers are from how old onwards?

kiki,
i started #1 on teething biscuits when he was 8 months old. that's when he's able to sit upright on his own for an extended period of time + hold things on his own + bring things to his mouth accurately, cos the hard teething biscuits need to be self-fed. of course if your gal is faster in her development and can self-feed around 6-7 months, you can feed the biscuits earlier. in my opinion, don't need to sterilize the baby cubes. actually, don't need to sterilize her bowl and spoon also. but that's just me cos i'm in the anti-sterilizing camp =)

angel,
congrats on his first flip! very soon it'll be his first step, first word ... our little ones are growing up so fast!

Hi Mummies

Anyone interested in Organix Wholegrain Rice Cereal?? I've 8 boxes to let go as my boy does not like them. Willing to let go at $4.50per box.

Mummies
Those on EBM, how often do your babies drink and how much??
I give my gal 7 oz but it can only last her 3.5 hours before she screams bloody murder. And this is even with me feeding her cereal sometimes in between. Am just wondering if it is because my BM has very little fats. It's mostly just water.

Morning! It's jab day again for Sam. Not sure why, but he's got really bad rashes. Pray n hope it's not eczema
sad.gif
And he may have a cough. Anyway still gotta go PD. And either jab or get meds for his 'cough' n 'eczema'
sad.gif

Sterilising

I still sterilise the pumpset n bottles. B/c I freeze excess BM n I dunno which pump session's yield I may freeze - depending on my production, whether Sam cooperates, whether I go out etc etc. I find 'sterilised' equipment yields nicer-tasting & smelling FBM.

Other than that.. I sterilise his pacifiers too coz he sucks on them soo much :p That's abt it.

kiki> i think only those things tat u going to use to store baby's milk for long time, den u need sterilise, example bottles used to store milk which i use to pump in office and de pump parts. milk bottles i no longer sterilise.

kris> my boy drink 150ml 4hrly in sch wor. his schedule:

645am: latch
9am: 150ml (sch-bottle feed)
1pm: 150ml (sch-bottle feed)
5pm: 150ml (sch-bottle feed)
7pm: cereal (just a bit for fun)
930pm: latch
1am: 160ml (dreamfeed)

so basically my boy not drinking alot. but pd says for 6mths old baby, 650-850ml of milk is enugh and normal.

happy.gif

Melissa yes, this UTI seems tp be everywhere and sounds scary, and yet there is nothing much we can do about it, except clean and even then, babies still get it.

Same like you, I've thought about being SAHM many times, but I think at of the day, having freedom to earn and spend our own money is important to me too.

Hi mummies,

Really dont have time to login, happy belated New Chinese New Year.

Sorry cant catch with the postings. Can anyone advice for frozen pureer? I bout the baby cubes but do i have to buy the freezing bag to keep the frozen pureer? Can i keep them in those normal ziplock or inside the bb cube until i need it?

*LOL* haha, you girls are funny
Angel, congrats on your boy's flipping. I'm still waiting for mine. haha, sounds like waiting for fruit to ripen and drop like that. I caught him sleeping face front with his hands tuck under his face yesterday morning, but don't think he can flip in his sleep ba. I wonder how he ended in that position.

Shelled Happy Belated Birthday!!

jolimilk - babies can flip while half sleeping one.. my boy does that all the time... He will sleep on his back and then the next morning, he's on his tummy... heheh

kiki, thx for the headsup, will remember not to start with apples. I'm still waiting for another month before I start feeding him.

waiwai, itsy My boy also 5mths already, still waking up in the middle of the night, although at one time, he was sleeping from 11pm-5am. I also sleep with him so that it's easier to feed when he wakes up, no need to carry here and there. But nowadays, he sleeps with his hands all sprawled out horizontally, leaving us with very little sleeping space - I'm going move him to his cot soon. haha, hope it'll work.

itsy, I think life can only get "tougher". A senior once told me, better be grateful that he's still in your tummy (when pregnant), when he comes out, it'll be a handful. Then when he was born 'be grateful that he hasn't learnt to crawl yet". So, I decided that life can ony get tougher, when they can crawl, walk, run, talk (back), then teenage years. Oh dear...that's why many people say "babies are made to be cute, otherwise many people wouldn't wanna have kids"! hahaha

Wonder how we can help them to sleep on their own. A lot of times, I feel like a big pacifier myself. Michelle you are so lucky! Any tips?

rach I'm like you & your hb. latch to sleep lying down. Like your hb, bb sure wake up when I put him down to bed, and the vicious cycle goes on. cham la...

Jess yup, I'm in discussion for part-time too. At least can see bb and earn some money too. Take some give some. Otherwise, when they grow up, the moment's gone...

Sterlizing
Some of you stopped sterilizing already? And I was thinking if I wanted to buy another sterilizer so that I can have one at home and one in the office.

For moms who pump at work, do you freeze the milk for consumption the next day? Or just put in fridge will do? How about milk in excess for next day's consumption.
Also wondering if I should buy another set of flanges and valves, as I'm always forget some part. Like yesterday, some parts in office, some parts at home. Couldn't pump and it was getting painful!

jolimilk> haha... but if i carry and put sure wont wake up.. hehehe..
only HB will..coz he'll lift her up by the armpit..sure wake up..

I'll put one hand below her neck..the other behind her butt.. lift up horizontally.. so she wont wake up.:p

Sterilizing> i dun sterilize even my pacifier anymore. hehe... i only rinse with tap water and give to her...
she drops her pacifier all the time or gets rubbed on her clothes, bedsheets etc.. all got mao mao de...how to sterilize each time i wash it?

I latch 24/7 so i no need to pump and wash and sterilize all other stuffs too.. hehehe.. :p

Cereal>
I fed her 3 heapfuls of teaspoon of cereal and she finished all in no time..and i made it a little more gooey this time.. not so watery liaoz.. hehehe...

Anyone selling breast pads?
I run out of them again... any mummy not BFing anymore and wanna sell their breast pads?

I also want to get Pigeon Breastpads.. lol And I've got some First Years Breastpad with Lanolin to sell..
happy.gif
Very good during growth spurts and I'm keeping a couple of boxes for the period when baby's teething...

Stephanie oh, is it? So now I'm wondering if we all missed his first flip. And there were 3 adults in the house some more. Must monitor him already.

rach I must learn from you la... I also put one hand below her neck, the other support the butt. The MOMENT he touched the bed only, his eyes open big big! It's like a switch!
I envy you, dun need to pump at all??? I can't, sure engorged even when I try to latch 24/7.

Jolimilk> maybe u overstimulated ur breasts lo..
Maybe la, I may be wrong. Cuz I only pump rarely.
The most times I've pumped in a day is maybe 3-4 times a day during confinement.. That time need 3-4 pumps to yield 30ml for a feed lo.. Those were the stressed times.. By 3rd week I only pump twice a day maybe.. Cuz enough to feed then not so stressed to pump le ma..

Then after my CL left, I only pump Once a day at wee hours. Cuz nobody wash pump for me liaoz so very lazy to pump..

By 3rd month.. I already throw away any 30-40litres of FBM cuz no space to store n all my milk are store at the door fridge so actually not recommended also..

So to save money, time n effort, I decided to stop pumping n sleep thru the nite cuZ by 10 weeks, Rayanne already slept thru n I still need to wake up to pump n that's when we were all up pumping n chatting in the forum.. Heh.. :p

initially will leak by morning but gradually train the breasts n supply stabilize Liao then ok liaoz lo.. Else milkbags $0.40 each very siong to throw away like that..:p

jolimilk
Thanks for the birthday wish!
happy.gif

Rach
You don't have to pump & store so Rayanne have enough milk when you go to work?
My FBM only left like... 2 litres or so only. I keep for Kee, but silly Josh always specifically ask for breastmilk when he's sick, so he whack until almost all gone. If purely latching surely no problem, but if I try to pump, can only do it at night when Kee is sleeping, otherwise he kaopeh my flow very slow!

Shelled> "go back to work" sounds so impossible with current situation Lo. I can't even have 2hrs spa in peace lo..
>.<"

I'll prob lug Rayanne along to meet my existing clients.. Lol!!
New clients I prob gotta bring my mum n Rayanne along.
I'll meet my client while my mum n girl sits somewhere nearby ba...

I really no idea wor.. As of now still not in office yet! :p

I can go anywhere with Rayanne alone though.. It's leaving home without her that's a task!

RAch,
My friend also latch and now she is complaining lei. Her boy will scream when give him bottles end up till todate, he is still latching. Now already 14 mths and attempt to wean off is unsuccessful after many trials. Now she give up Let him latch and hopefully wean off automatically.

Think u better set a time frame when to wean her else by 1 yrs old, quite hard lor.

rach> haha. better start weaning off soon, when she starts teething, hoho =p my boy treats my nipples as his teether at times

michelle, i bot him to see doctor, tat wat doctor prescribe lor. but dare not to give.

connie, can share with me the name of the antiboitic?

Michelle:
I'm FTWM... really super tiring. sometimes i take a short nap in office when i cannot tahan

itsy:
my boy also screams for help when he can't flip back in the middle of the night. actually life gets tougher when kids grow up... like my #1 who is now 19 month old, it is tougher to look after her nowadays.

kiki:
i don't sterilise baby cubes leh...

rach:
i gave #1 cereal and puree until 8 months old. then let her eat porridge

angel:
congrats on the first flip

FLower4,
Not sure wat is the name lei. I know is powder and need to add water by ourselves.

Given that cos no 1 also taking since he is the one that spread to her so both taking same antibiotic.

Michelle
I think my gal abnormal liao loh..she drinks more than 1l of BM each day, and on top of that, i already started feeding her cereal. Really think it's coz my milk not fatty enough, but don't know what i can do about it leh.

kris,
she might be having a growth spurt. when my boy was having a growth spurt a month ago, he took slightly more than 1litre of BM per day also. that's when i decided to start feeding him solids so that i can cut down one milk feed. now after the growth spurt he takes plus minus 700ml a day (4 times through bottle and 2 times through latching).

solids,
my 5 month old baby loves solids. and he's a big eater. he gets to eat only once a day around 6-7pm. yesterday and today he had the same amount of food ... 8 tablespoons of healthy times brown rice cereal mixed with 90ml of BM supplemented by half a small banana. super a lot right? cos when i looked back at #1's weaning pictures in 2007, #1 was only taking only a tiny amount of cereal that could all fit into the small avent bottle cap. i used the bottle cap as a bowl back then.

sandwich
I really hope it's a growth spurt coz mine is also a super big eater now. She will even grab the spoon to put it into her mouth, and her eyes follow the spoon to the bowl juz waiting for me to scoop up more cereal. She can take 10 tablespoons of the healthy times brown rice cereal, and i don't even replace a milk feed with the cereal..faintz

kris,
wow i thought mine eats a lot, yours can eat more!! she must be growing very very well =) i usually feed him plain water or 20-40ml of breastmilk after the cereal and it just nice replaces an entire milk feed.

hello all
Woah. I've been freaking busy and tired. Most or i think ALL babies now sleep through the night already???? So good... initially my boy also slept though... BUT lately he keep waking up middle of night.. sometimes once sometimes twice or thrice... i am so tired... at times i fed him with brown rice, whether he fiNishes everything or half... time for milk, he still DRINK... and the timing is like 15-20mins like usual... is it my boy not full enough ah??? And many nights he drink for about 40-80mins before he sleep... yet middle of the night also wake up and drink leh!!!!! And he's getting quite cranky too.... as long as he never see me or hear my voice, he cry until damn pathetic! -.-" best is, whenever my elder sil or fil carry him.. after 5mins he CRY like mAD.... wahahahaaa... i guessed he knows who bully me the most! WAhahahaa.....

Rach, i'm like you... i latch all the way.. never pump before... -.-" and that's partly why i am always like a walking tree with a baby koala bear. Going anywhere without him is only in a dream... never in reality! Even when i'm trying on new bottoms, i'm slinging him! =.=

flower4> erms.. doc prescribe shuld be ok? =x

waiwai> ya, can understand how tired u r man. my boy sleeps at 830, den i reach hm settle everything, latch him at 9+, den i go catch some nap, den wake up at 12+ to pump while hubby feeds him, settle everything 1am+, den go back to sleep, i oredi feel super tired, not to mention urs is a few times at nite

btw, i tot grow big easier to take care? how come ur 19mth old still giving u trouble?

kris> erms. ya lo. maybe is gowth spurts ba

sandwich> wow. ya. super alot. when i read 8 tablespoon, i tot i read wrongly, den i c 90ml of bm, den i was like wow, so much? keke. i only give my boy 2tiny spoon of cereal with 20-30ml of milk. but currently his solid meal is for fun nia.

<blink> Happy Birthday PrincessXiaomei!</blink>

<blink> Hope Your FIL Gives You A Break TODAY!</blink>

rach hm, never thought of overstimulation. I had thought that breast can be "trained" by regulating the demand, but no lor... If I don't relieve it by pumping at least once a day, it will start to become hard. So, till now, still don't quite understand the demand & supply rule.

princessxiaomei You're not alone, my boy just woke for his feed too, that's why I'm up at this hour, couldn't get back to sleep.

And Happy Birthday to you! Hope you have a good day and not have to see your FIL today
happy.gif

waiwai and princessxiaomei,
mine's not sleeping through the night still. some babies who latch on are just like that, they just want to wake up to latch on for comfort. so my boy wakes up about 2 times now because he takes a big cereal feed before he sleeps. last time when he was on pure BM, he wakes up about 4-5 times a night. my #1 started sleeping through the night only at 1.5 years old when i started weaning him off the breast.

michelle,
nope you didn't read wrongly. that's why i have to consider buying the healthy times products in bulk.

princessxiaomei,
happy birthday! hope this year would be a good one for you, zander and hubby.

sandwich> keke. no wonder. cos my happy bellies cereal so long haven finish one tin. den i thinking buy so many how to finish?

princessxiaomei,
happy birthday and hope u'd have a great day with ur family (minus ur FIL) :D

re: babies waking up at nite
just to share - my bb, who had been sleeping thru the nite, also started waking up at nite recently. at first i thot she was hungry so i latched her to sleep (she didn't cry for milk la, but she really did drink).

my PD said tt for breastfed babies who start to wake up at nite when they managed to sleep thru in the past, don't latch them at nite when they wake, unless they cry for milk. cos they may get into a habit of wanting to comfort suckle and it's hard to break once it sets in. his logic is - when adults wake up briefly at nite, we dun usually need to eat before we sleep again, so this applies to babies too. moreover, babies who managed to sleep thru the nite previously mean tt they dun need food at nite already.

so just leave the baby alone and let them settle back to sleep if they can. IF they need to be soothed, get daddy to handle bb first cos if mummy handles the baby, they might prob still want to suckle even if they are not hungry.

he also said tt by this time, mums shd not co-sleep with babies on the same bed anymore, if they are still doing so.

i tried it and it sorta worked for me (we dun co-sleep with her at all). initially my bb still woke up but she didn't cry for milk. so we let her settle back to sleep on her own and she did. yesterday she didn't wake up so i'm keeping my fingers crossed tt it will remain the same. maybe u can try to see if it works.

wow thanks for sharing....had wanted to try too..but too lazy, cos will need to pump at night...n if he wakes, got to stand by his bed to look after him...so land up maybe no sleep for us either right? maybe really got to try out one of these nights, n see how. ya my PD also said the same, not to co-sleep or latch to sleep...but mine already v used to latch to sleep leh...hard to make him sleep otherwise, unless carry to sleep, which is also v tiring for me lor.
mine problem is refuse to have a good night feed at 9 or 12, so i scared middle night he will be hungry...he has been passing gas too throughout the night when he wakes up lor...

Princess> haha.. But I got pump before la. U really best Lo.. Never pump before.. But only possiblebif we dun go work la.. Else sure need to pump..

I never go try clothes when I'm with her,,
in fact now all buy online liaoz.. Haha..

Happy birthday!!!
happy.gif

jolimilk> cuz ur breasts used to being pumped once a day ma.. Try pumping shorter period? Like 10 min just to release a bit of milk then leave it?

Mine was a little sore initially but now no liaoz.. It doesn't happen overnite.. Need daysssss to train de..
happy.gif

hey pam... super cute la you.

Always one of the first with regards to Birthday greetings.

Hope everyone's doing well today! CHeers!

xiaowei Thanks for sharing. That's exactly the situation I'm in. In fact, he can't sleep without suckling if I'm around. Or maybe I'm just not patient enough to pat him to sleep cos latching him is easier, no need to carry. I'll try it out
