<font color="119911">drop hair</font> Wah, can drop for a year?? I miss those days that I don't have to clear the hair from pillow and floor. Sounds scary leh...

<font color="0000ff">supply</font> All this reading about ss drop when back to work is making me worried... I hope there's enough FMB to last till 6 months at least.

<font color="ff6000">multitask</font> I read that a few mummies pumping at work and typing at forum. How do you all do it? I cant seem to get log into forum with my hp, don't nkow if the problem is that the page too huge. If laptop, but can only type with one hand. My friend lent me her hands-free strap, but din seem to work for me leh...hmm...

okie think i'll go check out the cereals when i have time.. now i just hope i get to slp when i'm not working... i slp lesser now that i'm back at work lor.. only 4hrs last nite!!!

so far been pumping 2x in office, once during lunch and once after work. thinking of skipping the after work pump to go home and pump but i scared might affect ss even more. 2nd day at work and i got 150ml lesser than 1st day.. guess didnt get to clear the breasts fully lor. wonder how much i'll get today... got meeting during lunch.. dont know if i should go and pump now or after lunch.. sigh...

wow u got time to pump so many x in office?? i can squeeze in 2x i already very happy leh.. so daily i only pump 4x - b4 i leave home, 2x in office and another time b4 i slp.

Depending on how well your baby takes to cereal. Increase slowly from 1 teapoon to 2, to 3, etc. For my #1, after 2-3 weeks from first introduced cereal, he can take half a bowl (3-4 tablespoon) of cereal already. You should never rush when introducing solid. First month is more or less testing month, only give solid for fun (for baby to accept the idea of spoon feeding).

And look out for signs of readiness for solid (taken from http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/readyforsolids.htm) before you start introducing solid:

- Loss of tongue-thrust reflex

- Ability to let you know she is full from a "meal" with signs such as turning away from the bottle or breast.

- Ability to sit up and hold head up unassisted

- Interest in your food (we tend to disagree with this one as when a baby reaches the age of 4-6 months, he is interested in putting everything in his mouth.)

- Doubling of birth weight

- Frequently waking in the middle of the night when a solid sleeping pattern had been established. This may not be the best indicator that your baby is ready for solids. Please keep in mind that a growth spurt will occur between 3-4 months of age, 6-7 months of age and also 9-10 months of age. Baby may also be waking due to an illness or teething.

i think its very interesting cos jacob's one of the youngest babies here so its fun to read to anticipate what's to come!

now he splashes in the bath and make sure my clothes are wet!

he drools like nobody's biz!

luckily no rashes yet (TOUCH WOOD!), cant flip too! half flip only and can flip from tummy to front.

now he is on milk strike although he is only 4mths 2 days old! he has been drinking like 100ml but now its a miserable 70-80ml and i need to feed it over 2-3 feeds! and only drinks like 4-5 bottles a day. a bit worrying... and from the list kam posted, he actually qualified all except for loss of tongue-thrust reflex and sitting unassisted. but i dun wanna start solids so early leh. i have some food jars at home, dunno if i should just try?

i will feed quite a lot during dreamfeed though, can be as much as 6oz! cos tt's the only time he will obediently drink!

and oh, he fell ytd! put him in the rocker as i went to get the walker (a bit of a tongue twister as i tried to explain his fall ytd) and i think he tried his half flip so he ended up with his head on the floor and body still on the rocker. scared me! shld be ok but a bit tramatised cos he may cry loud while sleeping
 
cookiezz - Maybe try a slightly faster flowing teat? My daughter gets really annoyed with the 0-6 month nuk ones, so I got the medium flow ones but I'm gonna change to 6 - 18mth ones soon. She drinks 150 and 180 in the AM.

thats so odd. are u sure u didn't accidently throw the cover away? did it come in a twin pack? i've not seen them sell the covers alone before though. why don't u call up the shop and ask them how come their pacifiers no cover?! doesn't make sense leh...no cover how to keep it clean?

yes my girl is displaying some of the 'signs' that u mentioned already. she knows how to use her hands to push away the bottle, else she keeps sticking out her tongue to push the bottle teat out of her mouth. she can't sit unassisted but she can hold her head up. should i wait till she can sit unassisted? that sounds like gonna be another 3 months more before she can do that. i'm afraid at the rate she goes drinking so little don't know is it ok or not. PD says its ok though..coz her weight has already doubled since birth. PD also previously gave me some cereal samples to try, but i've not tried yet. hb say wait for the organic one better.

sayang your boy. he didn't knock his head did he? once they can flip must always strap down. last time i use to just put my girl in her swing without strapping. but nowadays coz she can flip already, i always must remember to buckle her up.

It is recommended to take 3 cups a day. Some people can see the effect on the next pump after drinking. It really depends on individuals on how long it takes effective. But of course need to do your usual pumping.

i have lotsa complains on him too...
he has NEVER helped me to bathe him, not even helped to prepare the bath water n stuff, no help on feeding ever since bb started fussing at bottle feeding, not even diaper changing leh...

so after tons of "complains", he did only a ONE time help on sponge bath.. watching the acts made me wanna take over and do it myself...

All he rebuked was: i helped to wash bottles, sterilised them, helped bits of housework here and there... (BIG DEAL TO ME -_-")

hubb also comment: see he dun like me to carry him, bb prefers mommy than daddy...
(of cos, i take care of him long hours, bb of cos prefers me better than u idiot... hubb doesnt BOND with bb except for a few minutes of play each day.. when i asked him to watch over him for a while, he carry him over to his pc and just let him sit on his lap while he surf/ chat on pc, bb luvs to watch moving screen (tv / pc monitor, so he guai guai sit and watch :/ but bad for bb eyes)

yes rayanne loves pacifier.. It's on her mouth like 90% of her awake moments..
Nowdays she latch till she fall asleep.. Then stick sucking.. I'll have to pull out my Nip n insert the pacifier in if she's still needing the comfort..
Sometimes she just continue to move her mouth but won't open mouth then I won't force the pacifier on her..

Past few nites I've been latching her at 4-5am n both fell asleep kind, I'll wake up at 7-8am to discover her sleeping below my armpit!! Haha...

Not really have to sit unassisted for starting solid, but to be able to sit up with support, eg, put her in high chair, then stuff with the pillows to help her sit. If she is okay with that, then is ok. More important is her neck is strong enough. Or let her sit in the stroller, I did that with my #1, and he sat very well in the stroller for the feeding session.

For babies, really don't have to worry too much if they are drinking less, as long as they are gaining weight and remains active/playful as usual.

i read that its best to start with rice based cereals...as these won't have allergy. so its a very good 1st food to start off with. no no...not necessary to give apple puree first...can be other fruits too. my PD told me carrot, banana, pear and sweet potato also can.

my girl's been having erratic poo poo these 2 days. but she's her usual self leh, so i don't think she's sick or anything. she usually does 1-2x poo. now...she poos 1 big one and then 2-3 small ones. is there something to be concerned about?

marie - i tried a bigger teat last mth. so funny cos i blur, gave him the L pigeon teat cos it says for beyond M and Y which are for 2-3mth+. he 3mths+ liao mah so i upgrade him. as usual i was feeding n surfing so when i checked on him, which was just FOUR min later, he downed 100ml liao! we were both stunned and he cried!! cos too fast too furious liao! but lucky he din choke. tt's y now i stick back to Y.

kiki and bernice - yah i felt so bad. cos i think i caused his fall... i din put him very properly in the rocker cos i was thinking of only going away for a min to get the walker for him. din buckle him also cos he hasnt flipped so i tot dun need. now scared liao! but shld be a very mild fall cos the rocker is very very low.

kam - on one hand it seems fun to start on solid but i want to wait till he's 6 mths old. but at the rate he is drinking (or rather not drinking) milk, a bit heart pain ah! but on the bright side, i can store the excess! although with the decreasing feeds, i get lazier to pump :p

I hv the swimming tub diameter:90cm which i can still sit inside n play with him.
Save ur money, dont buy cos waste alot of water. So far i oni used once.

If you ask me, start with RICE CEREAL. Just rice cereal. After your baby get the idea of eating from spoon, you can try a lot of other things, with no particular sequence. You can try any of these in any sequence you want - all those commercial cereal, plus homemade/commercial fruit/veg purees. Feeding commercial cereal is important as there are forfeited with iron (baby needs iron and if you are not giving FM, the amount of iron in BM is not enough for babies >6months old).

OR go get a "First Food" book (or any similar book on weaning to solid). You will get a clearer idea of what to do. For those live near me (Yew Tee), I don't mind to lend you my book if you collect from me and keep my book clean.

Very paiseh in office. imagine came back from lunch at 130pm, start eating biscuit at 3pm.
My BIL look at me last sun when I eat bread with egg after dinner. Sometimes, after meal, I still feel hungry but I still got 2 kg to reduce.

Those mommies with bb on milk strike, what teat size r u using? My maid told me the M too small liao, v difficuit to suck and she takes long time so must change to L.
 
Connie - same but... i agree that too fast can choke. my fren poked a few extra holes, tried with a needle too small didn't make a difference.

my joseph boy will turn 5 mths next tues. i think i gonna wait another 3 weeks b4 i introduce him rice cereals. as it is everytime i hold my cup or food in my hands he will try to grab it.

I bought the Gerber NUK Orthodontic Silicone Pacifier twin pack type no cover so I buy the Piyo Piyo Pacifier casing to keep pacifier clean but Jordan seldom sucks pacifier one lah.. heheh

I either steam or boil the sweet potato but if I boil, I boil with very very little water and then mash together with that very little water.

I usually read the forum when I am pumping milk using my mobile phone.. using freestyle, so is handsfree. Sometimes v hard to reply or write on the forum as the screen so small, hv to keep scrolling up &amp; down…

Same like your girl, my boy also use his hands to push the bottle away, can’t sit unassisted yet. Can hold his head but seemed like his neck muscles not v strong yet.
Anyway I am not ready to start him on semi-solids yet.. going to wait when he’s 6 mths. : )
