Connie> for the baby cube, mummies here say can put in warm water or baby food warmer instead of microwave.

Melissa> i solved the issue... as only 1 nephew still drinking milk from bottle, im going to buy 1 big and 1 small BPA free bottle for him. so that MIL can sterilize all the bottles tog. i educated my MIL on the danger of BPA on wed then yest newspaper came out an article on BPA causing health issues.

Mummies,
My poor boy sleep, turn turn turn, push push push and roll down the bed this morning =(
no blue black... Anything to look out for???????

Michelle
I've tot of this too but find that it'll be very difficult to make fresh puree daily. Ok for banana cos u can buy a bunch and use 1 banana each day, but how about papaya? Most prob will still need to cut up the fruit, refrigerate it and use portion of it to make puree daily, then might as well do the puree one shot and freeze it. Just my penny worth... there might be other ways.

itsy,
This is the one I have, Braun handheld blender. Cheap, easy to use, just nice for making puree. No need to get those advance type.

michelle,
That's pretty much about it for the start. Later you can also try mango, apple. Some people steam apple, but I don't, I scrap out the apple using a spoon and feed my son directly. Actually steaming and pureeing very easy job also. Pumpkin and sweet potato are very nice, usually babies would love these cos it's sweet.

itsy,
For fruits, I usually don't freeze them. I make fresh ones everyday. Adults need to eat fruits also what. So cut out 1 small portion for your baby, then the rest let the adults finish it up :)

myfavchoo,
No worries. My #1 fell down from the bed also. Things to look out for - vomitting, feeding as usual, still active as usual.

Michelle:
when I introduced puree to my #1, i didn't add BM at all... she was ok with it. but that was after 1 month of tasting rice cereal in BM

Kam,

How much is the blender? Is it very useful?

Flipping

My son made his first flip a few days ago when he was 4 month 4 days old. My col's son at 7 month old still not able to flip because he was always confined in an area which surrounded him with pillow. So, no space for him to flip. Actually, babies need us to guide them how to flip. See how happy when my son can flip and on his tummy, :p

michelle,

Correct me if I'm wrong ok, can I puree veg with the blender you are using? We can puree veg for bb right?

adeline
Your bb looks like he's posing for the pix
happy.gif

adeline,
Your bb very cute! Yes, you are right, as a parent, we have to provide the right environment for them to grow and develop. Cannot be too (over) protective.

adeline / itsy,
I cannot remember how much is the blender already cos that's 2 years ago, and it's definitely not ex so I don't bother to remember the figure. Yes, it's very useful for me. I use it to blend/puree fruits/veg/meat for my #1. Because it's not ex, so I can afford to buy it and use it solely for making puree only. You only need a blender for about 2-3 months, when your baby get used to (semi)-solid, you don't need to blend, just steam and smash with fork will do (in condition that your baby is willing to take).

I'm considering the philips avent combined steamer and blender.
Just one device, steam then flip over to blend. No need to transfer here and there.
What do u mums think? Any good?
Not sure how much the stores here are selling it though.

printz n such,
Some suggest to cut into medium size pieces (eg, pumpkin, sweet potato) and steam, then peel off skin and blend. Some suggest to cut, peel off skin, steand and blend. So if you opt for the latter, then yes, the combined thingy looks convinient. Else, you still have to take it out and peel off skin before blending. And also remember not everything need to steam. And that you only need to make puree for like 2-3 months (in general) so you may want to thing if you have other use for this when you stop making puree. Of course the other factor to consider is the $$ lo. Steaming no need to buy extra gadget cos you can use your rice cooker (I am sure you have 1). And the handheld blender is definitely way cheaper. If cost is not an issue for you, ya, go and give it a try!

michelle,
apple and pear also can easily scrape and feed. before weaning, make a trip to daiso. can get different kinds of scrapper there, some for fruits, some for veg and some can even scrap cooked meat.

cloudme,
for my infantcare, babies' cot mattress and cot bedding is provided. my boy was allocated a blue bear set. but once he outgrows the cot (at 1 year old maybe?), parents have to provide own bedding for their mattress (sleep on the floor).

printz n such,
i saw that combined steamer and blender at john little. such a nice looking device. but i told myself that i can't buy lah, cos i won't be taking the effort to steam and blend most probably. i'll just stick to ready to mix cereals and easy to scrap fruits when the time comes. it's less than a hundred if i don't remember wrongly.

sandwich thanks for the website
happy.gif

michelle you started feeding Javier solids already?!

itsy> my parents cut fruits everyday ma. lol. so we eat de rest, keep one portion for him lo =x or maybe shuld juz buy one, since not costly too =p

kam> how much is de handheld blender? oo, apple too hard. haha. need to cook, i lazy =x but mango is another choice, ez to make puree. but first got to make sure it's sweet =x

waiwai> oo. but certain fruits abit dry den need add milk?

cloudme> need to buy things sure need to spend money wor

sandwich> okie. maybe later i go c =p

paige> wow. u actually remember my baby's name? haha. no wor. haven feed yet, still waitin for the brown rice to arrive. but contemplating getting him a bottle of heinz puree to try first =p

oh my. ur ezema better get well soon. ya. purely pump is very tedious! jiayou!

Kam,

Thanks for your complimentary. After having 2 kids, now budget is quite tight. Will go back to the traditonal way to steam and smash with fork. Haha...Unless the handhled blender is like 20 bucks. My mil loves to nag if I buy things.

snowyin

Thanks for your complimentary. He can stay at that pose for merely a few seconds only. Because my DSLR camera is fast enough to capture the photo. Cedric's head is still not that firm. He hardly look up and keep looking down because I guess his head is heavy. :p

michelle,
he don like to sleep in cot. so put him on the bed lor... but i got put a big bolster there...
he push the bolster down and fall down himself... and i dunno y he didn landed on bolster and end up on the floor. or maybe he landed on bolster and he struggle and fall on the floor. hahahah

Can I check with all. What is an 8oz bottle being used for? Is it for toddlers? I mean, my girl now drinking 100 to 120ml every 3-4hrly. I started intriducing the brown rice with ikan bilis powder everyday at 1 meal. I mean when they start to eat semi-solid, don't think we need to up the milk anymore right?
I have been feeding her 100ml since 2months.

Please advise. I have these huge dr. brown's bottle and I don't know what I should do with them

enxuan,
Sooner or later, your girl will need more milk, and you definitely need to up the amount. No hurry, just keep the bottles safe for now :)

oh no, your baby so poor thing. These are the thing we need to look out for to see if baby is ready for solid. each baby is different lo. then you wAit for him to grow older and try again.

Michelle, I use the bottles for 4 months lor.. Hmm.. Think I want to change to nuk nuk bottles then.. How often do you change your bottles?

Thanks for the response on the combined steamer and blender. Think it'll save some time but a tad bit expensive.
Has anyone seen those abc mats for sale lately? I saw it at kk mall but seems rather expensive - $50 plus. Anywhere else?

Ya i started with banana and pear

Bb born 4 sep so now shld be 18/19 weeks?

Ya lor kam think maybe i fed her too much foa a start

enxuan> i seldom bottle feed at hm, only once a day. so my bottles intend to change once every 4-5mths. my parents hm one feed 4times a day. so change once every 2-3mths or when de bottles turn cloudy

hollow> wow. my boy 3sep haven started. keke. maybe later i go buy banana =p

hollow

so the pd said to not feed till 6mths old ah? u fed a lot at 1 go? think we're onlu supposed to intro maybe a couple of spoonfuls in the beginning. nvm at least she's ok now.

To feed banana to young baby, must beware that can only give them fully rippen banana, ie when the banana has black spots on the skin already.
