michelle
my good frd just gave me a silk bayb**pplies sling for full mth. v nice but must dry clean!! i find bayb**pplies slings look nicer than MIM leh.

BBQ
i think my gal thunder thighs started when she was in 4 mths? by 5 mths v thunderous! then when she started crawling she slimmed down

i'm also thinking if i shd get a sling, but more for using at home only. sometimes when my gal fusses, i can't do anything else but carry or nurse her. somethings i can do with 1 arm n the other hand can do other things, but i end up getting arm, hands n backaches!

so which sling is good?

ling,

i see, ok... mine abt 4 wks now. tomorrow i try to put her tummy down n monitor n see if she can turn her head or not.

<font face="segoe print"><font color="#FF6666">kiki...</font>

okie.. u try then monitor lo..
talkin abt head turnin.. she just did! hurhur~</font>

<font color="ff0099">kiki</font>
Yes yes! My boy also does that!! Why huh?! Who teach them?!?! I'm so perplexed by this development.

Ok lah, it's not really plastic. But it's not easily stained and won't mold to bb's bum lah.

Sling bb for too long also will back ache hor.

<font color="ff0099">bbq98</font>
Congrats on successfully using the sling to lull baby to sleep!
You can bend over at his cot or your bed, lie him down, then gently pull out the sling from under him. Try lah. But sometimes they still wake up from it. I swear all babies have psychic powers that know when someone puts them down.
lame.gif

Sling is supposedly quite shiok for baby cos they kenna cramped inside, as if back in mommy's tummy. Plus it's damn warm and snuggly.

That day this women commented why I put K in sling. Not warm meh? See him squashed until like that, as if back in tummy so cramped! She made it sound like I'm torturing him. So i retorted her with "exactly cos its as if back in mommy's tummy, that's why he sleep until so shiok!" She diam diam.

<font color="ff0099">Steph</font>
You're 27?! And you have 4?!?! Wah lau, and I thought I started early.

Basically we hv no time to cook even shower also chop chop one. Nw I'm thinkin of ordering tingkat dinner.

Sleeping on tummy - I thought it's not advisable because there is something abt the bb dying because the heart can't take it?

<font color="ff0000">bbq</font>
i think it depends on individual babies??
if ur baby is strong and mature enough then prob can ba??

i dunno leh. so far my girl is okay with that position though my mum will always turn her over if she's been sleeping in that position for a few hours... have heard of a few cases of bb dying coz heart cannot take it too....

but we monitored her progress initially... but after we see that she's managing well.. we are more relaxed.. hehe..

lying on tummy also helps to rid wind..coz they are pressing on the tummy...

and they feel more secured... with their tummy being compressed... like i said,my gal very insecured.. ahha...

stephanie,
you're so young to have 4 kids!!!!! i find that with each kid i've aged at least a coupld of years! last time i used to look so much younger. now i look more and more hagged with my eye bags and messy hair.

shelled,
two nights ago my #1 was sick and he actually woke up more times than #2. there goes my 4-5 hours of sleep!

rach,
i also change my bb on my bed. didnt buy a bb cot for my house. have a playpen, but it's in the storeroom now.

bumbo,
used it for my #1 and it's quite a useful buy. sold it on the forum when he outgrew it. so i'll prob get a 2nd hand one for #2 when he's able to sit up.

bbq98> lol. i regret nv get the nursing cover fr rach's spree last wk -_- not too late liaos. only can get mim lo =(

mamato6js> where can i see the silk bayb**pplies tat u r saying? but must dry clean abit waste money hor? considering bb merlions quite often

kiki> lying down is like tat. olways leak one =p

rach> anymore possibility of getting tat babe au lait nursing cover at spree price? or where else can i buy tat ah? thinking of getting that. cos i think i no need sling. need more of nursing cover -_-"

shelled,
I am using brest friend nursing pillow, but baby blocking the other breast leh, how to put pump? lol.. Not to mention sometimes he unlatch himself and i have to latch him back again.

Re: sleeping on tummy
I also let bb sleep on his tummy sometimes, but not straight after he's been fed. They really sleep much longer and feels more secured, don't get startled easily and wakes up. I was worried initially but the confinement lady, mum and aunt all assure me bb can turn their head themselves. Sometimes when I go check on him, can see that he has turned his head to the other side. Last night is the first time i let him sleep on tummy, woohoo... 4 hrs straight, I could sleep longer before the next feed. But he wakes up crying like mad. So tempted to let him sleep on his tummy throughout the night. Hee...

Ling,
I think our bb born on the same day, 4th sept? And by the same gynae, Dr Woody. What time did you deliver? I was at Mt Alvernia.

Text Formatting
Erm.. how to have the text both bold and colored huh?

<font face="segoe print"><font color="#FF6666">joopz...</font>

wah... wat a coincidence! my gal was born @ 0721hrs but at thomson.
happy.gif

\ b { \ red{ hello </font>}}

<font color="aa00aa">sandwich</font> - I agree leh.. with each kid, I too feel that I aged...
sad.gif

Its not the skin condition type of aging, its the body feel old, with aches and etc...

<font color="aa00aa">joopz</font> - You can latch baby on with breastfeeding pillow at the side... (football hold feeding position) then can still pump...

One hand still can hold baby's head..

Really need advise from ppl here as to how is Venus baby car seat. Heard is from Poland. True?

Anyone know abt this brand?

Thanks

Steph,
is good to hv your mum coming over, at least to supervise when you arent ard.
Yeah the young mummies are quite pro too.

Rach,
i send you the order form for the milk tray and had transferred the payment to your supplier already. Hope can receive it fast.
I bought a freezer just to froze those BM, i think the milk tray come handy for me as curently i store my EBM in the storage bottle and is taking up some space and also take longer time to thaw. At least with the milk tray i can transfer them directly into the milk bottle and when baby need to drink then warm up can le.

I guess it's natural that older kids give us a different set of problems.
I nearly killed my #1 just now. I woke up to find my bedroom floor smeared with cocoa butter that he "stole" from my hubs' bedside table. My bedframe, floor, his face, hair body, mattress, pillow, teddy bear, all kenna cocoa butter.
KNS. I was so mad I swear my blood pressure shot up skyhigh. But I'm so tired there's no way I could wake up before him every morning lor. I'm still compensating the sleep that I lost during 3rd trimester!
I was so mad I showered him with COLD water and let him scream his lungs out.

<font color="ff0099">joopz</font>
That's the limitation of My Brest Friend lah. It's too stiff and rigid to accommodate tandem pumping.
I'm using the Cheeky Bon Bon nursing pillow, so i can actually compress the pillow a bit to make space for my pump.

<font color="ff0099">Steph / sandwich</font>
I think the body aches that appear with each new kid can't be avoided? Less time to rest, more things to do... how not to ache all over??
I feel I get a new wrinkle with each week that passes! Thus my new fascination and overzealous application of creams and whatnot. But wah lau, so tired don't even have energy to put creams sometimes. I feel that the bottles are just sitting on the shelf mocking me.

<font color="ff0099">happykae</font>
The milk tray really reduces storage space by a lot! And really much faster to thaw/warm. On 40 degrees setting (on Pigeon warmer), I can warm up 5 sticks (150ml) in abt 20 mins from frozen state fresh from the freezer! Last time 1 bottle of frozen 150ml would take 45mins!

(Damn, why am I doing free promotion for Milk Tray?!?!)

Hi mummies

Quick qn for those using the Freestyle. I just got mine and the instruction says the parts like the soft shield, membranes etc must be completely dry b4 use.
How to dry? since it'll surely be wet coming out from the steriliser. and drying with a cloth will defeat the purpose of sterilising rite

anyone can help?

sleeping on tummy

sam sleeps on his tummy practically all the time. he's a v insecure bb, will wake himself up by jerking hands n legs n screamin as if in fright. yet he doesn't like to be swaddled. so tummy is best for him.

kris

I'm using Pump i Style. But dun dry lah. If dry liao - like u say, defeats purpose of sterilising. What I do is just flinf water off, then use. Better than introducing new germs.

TMC Parentcraft also just use them wet, so I figured if the hosp professionals do it, can't go wrong lah hah

Hi mommies,
Can we drink DOM if we breastfeed? Read somewehere alcohol is not good for baby but CL and Mom say it's ok. I have some doubts. Please advise, thanks.

happymrskoh

i din touch dom at all. scared the alcohol will pass thru to the bb. n i dun have enough supply to feed him, much less pump out the bm after drinking dom to throw away

kiki:
My girl was born on 15 Sept, just a few days after your baby. I'm also thinking of getting a sling because it is getting tiring to carry her to soothe her. I have a Baby Bjorn but I think she is still too small for it.

Mummies:
See if turning on a hairdryer works to calm your babies. It works for mine. But I use it only at night because I don't want her to be immune to it. I use it when I know she is obviously tired, already fed and diaper changed, but still crying or fussing. It is quite funny, the moment I turn the hairdryer on, she keeps quiet immediately! Then i leave it on for 10-15 min until she is really asleep.

Question:
Do you all change diapers first or feed first each time? I can't figure out which is better. If feed first, she wakes up when I want to change her diapers. But if change diapers first, and she is already hungry, she gets 'angry' and struggles a lot, which makes it difficult to clean her!

<font color="ff6000">hi all, i'm back after mia for 2 days</font>
so busy on sun cos it's bb shower, then ytd was running around to PD for injection, moving things back home from my mum's place and grocery shopping. Finaly today i'm home alone with bb and it's not easy!! Gotta clean up the house, arrange things, look after bb, feed her and blah blah... i'm starting to feel my backache and it's only half a day!!! Haven't finish one chore and bb is crying already. SO end up i took damn long to finish something.. sigh... hope i'll be able to survive.. now i really pei fu the SAHMs and even more pei fu FTWMs cos how did u all manage housework, bb and work??? i'm going crazy just in half a day!!

anyway some update on my gal's wgt.. so happy she's now 4.4kg from a birth weight of 2.8kg! i was initially shocked by the no and even suspect the weighing scale is spoilt.. so now i can prove to my mum that she is really drinking from my breasts!! cos my mum keep saying she didnt drink enuff and so keep crying.. anyway PD says she has some wind in her tummy that's why she keeps crying. so prescribed her some medi.. but how to feed her medi without her spitting out.. she spit out the medi the 2nd time we feed to her and subsequentl, it's so difficult feeding her the medi.. i think she does not like it.

milktray
how do we store the milk sticks after they are frozen??

Kris
i do not dry my Freestyle. Like Jul said, i flicked some water off and then use it lor.. it's still a little wet lah.

Rach/nursing cover
Rach, i'm interested leh.. ar u doign a spree?? wat spree is ongoing now?? the thread moves too fast for me to catch up already...

corsage,

i usually change diapers first. yes, i also find that she struggles quite a lot when changing diapers, because mine wakes up when i change her diapers. and yes! if she's hungry, she will also start to cry and kick her legs much more. but the good thing is that if she is more awake, she suckles much more instead of falling asleep after a while. and if on the bottle, she does not leak as much if she's more awake! else, there'd be milk leaking all over onto her neck and its very frustrating for me. even more frustrating that changing diapers when she's struggling.
