hahha.. i think a few mums here do feed at hourly interval..though its not that normal normal..its nothing wrong la...
coz by right if they feed enough, it should last them 3-4 hours..
but i guess they dun suck out much out of us now.... so... they get hungry earlier..and hence we need to replenish their stomah more frequently??
thats my logic la...dunno i'm right or wrong.. haha.. :p

yah...my girl will wail...but after offer the next breast for 5min..she actually fell asleep liaoz....
so i let her sleep loh..till she wake up for the next feed.. :p

if u're not that chesty, should be alright bah? and since u're not going braless 100% of the time, don't think they will sag. but if u're chesty then maybe the support will be good.

abt the lilypadz, it's like a sticky nursing pad made of silicon. it's about the size of a nursing pad. u just stick it onto ur boob. the pressure it exerts on your nipple prevents milk from seeping out. but i found that it only works if u leak little. when i leak a lot, milk still manages to escape the lilypad. i think u can still stick them on if u have sore nipples, but not if they're cracked or bleeding because then u'll need to air them. and at night, i still wear my nursing bra even though it's uncomfortable. i don't like getting ALL WET!

Have been popping to read about the birth experience here. Thank u all for sharing. i have been reading a lot on bfeeding and would like to contribute some info to all. This info is from the book called "Breasfeeding Made Simple"

Would like to share what I've read today about bb's weight gain. A lot of mummies are worried that bb is not taking enough milk when bfeeding. As long as bb in gainning weight correctly, we don't have to worry if bb is taking enough milk or not.

The following are based on populations of breastfed babies and they reflect average weight gains (not minimally acceprable weight gains):

<font color="ff0000">Birth - 4 days: loss of up to 7 percent to 10 percent of birth weight
4days- 4months: 6oz/1170g per week (1 1/2lbs/0.68kg per month)
4- 6 months: 4 to 5 oz./113-142g per week (1lb./0.45kg per month)
6-12 months: 2-4oz/57-113g per week (3/4lb./0.34kg per month)</font>

According to the book, the guide above is based on fully breasfeeding babies. FM fed babies tne t to put on more.

That time the spree fell through, then someone PMed me asking if I wanna buy her brand new never been opened pair cos she didn't succeed in BFing. Sold it to me for a cheap $20 incl postage. If I had spreed for it, would have ended up paying ard $25 or so.
But hers is the old packaging one leh. Then the lilypadz do not have individual plastic cups to stick onto wor. It just came with 1 plastic cup, then you have the stick 1 lilypadz over the other one. My hubs say if like that, the stickiness sure die quite fast.

Then I think you may need to wear a bra at night to hold the breastpads in place?
Or you can wear nursing tanks to sleep lah! Got built-in bra shelf, then can put pads also. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone leh!

Lilypadz's instructions are that it's best suited for when milk supply has been established. Which means you shouldn't be leaking anymore. There's a limitation of how well it works when you're still very leaky. (Speaking from personal experience lah. Cos I uber hate wearing bras due to the heat.)

If you really wanna try, can go look for them in the WTS thread. There are always moms who didn't succeed in BFing and have brand new unopened Lilypadz for sale.

I prefer baby pouches compared to slings. No buckles to fumble with.
I'm using the PUPSIK sling and Lucky Baby pouch.
However, I don't think there's sufficient material to help you cover up when you're BFing. Esp when bb starts to get bigger, there'll be less and less excess material for you to use as coverage.

All my guests always love the food and go back for 2nd helpings.
Caterer gives 10% excess food on top of what you order.

hope my bf days will get better.. was super stressed up last nite.. being the first nite at home. My gal wails every hr after the last feed and she feeds only on one breast for 20mins and i will break her from my breast and tried to change sides but she just refused to nurse on the other one. End up we could both slp only at 4am-7am till i wake her up for her next feed. hopefully tonite i only need to wake up once in the middle of the nite for her feed.

not sure if my technique is correct also.. sigh... just hope it gets better by the days go by. Jia you everyone!!

i nver give up TBF since day one... even during my stay in hospital Dr Wong &amp; nurses afraid i go bomkers &amp; under depression, has been advising me to give FM to bb.. so i wun get disturb by bb often.. I Stick to my Rule. TBF....

i have been regularly applying elomet when i breastfed my #1. no choice, have to keep my eczema under control. the only place where i don't apply elomet is on my aerola; very sad right, even my aerola has eczema. if you're afraid it's too strong, maybe you can get bethamethasone instead. i can't do without the steriod creams as i have so much eczema. when baby number 2 arrives, i might try to take oral zyrtec to combat the night itchiness instead of applying so much cream. see how first lah. hoping the eczema will get slightly better (i know there is no chance of it every going away) after i deliver.

sounds very serious. hope your uterus recovers well cos i assume you might want more kids in future. you should let your husband know that using the computer is a sedentary activity, and prob won't make your condition worse, hee ...

after your mucus plug has discharged, you'll prob give birth within the week. for my #1, mucus plug discharged on thursday evening, but i gave birth only on saturday afternoon. doc had to break my water bag + put me on drip to hasten dilation some more. so w/out added assistance from the doc, the time lag between mucus plug discharging and actual delivery might range from a couple of hours to a couple of days and maybe even a week for some mummies. no hard and fast rule about this.

Keep the weght around for too long will take even more effort to lose it later on leh.
It's common to be easily hungry when TBF, i'm also eating every 2-3hrs! But don't eat sweets lah!!
Eat sweets also won't give you any nutrients lor. You're better off munching muesli bars, fruits, nuts, bread, etc. Less fattening + more healthy for you and baby.

Sorry arh, not trying to nag you. but 1 bottle mentos everyday is sibei scary leh.

Try to burp baby before, during and after feed lor. Remove all the gas from tummy first. So later the gas won't end up pushing the milk out.

Good for you that you never succumb to FM! But don't stress yourself out too much ok?

Unfortunately, no. Mucus plug can appear days to weeks before you actually go into labour.
But one thing's for sure, you'll DEFINITELY be going into labor. Though we just won't know how soon.

Except it was tinged with streaks of bright red blood.
My mucus plug came out on Thursday. Waters broke and labor started on Sunday.

Yup, wear the nursing tank no need wear bra. Comes with built-in shelf-bra that provides very good support.
Although you may experience slight nipple showthrough as the top is not padded. There are slots for you to insert bra cups though. I buy mine $2/pair from Maternity Exchange. Prevents Joshua from using my boobs as leverage!

Thanks for sharing the info about Lilipadz. Think I'll get one to try. I leak mostly when I have letdown, especially when feeding or pumping. At the moment, I'm wearing the breastshells to collect the leakage in the day and it can be almost half the cup each time. In morning, my PJ top is always wet. So you know what I did last night? I masking taped the breastpads to my boobs. hahahaha....very unglam, dont dare show hubby. So I'm not sure if the Lilypads will be good enough to stick on even during letdown but just try lah. Very wasted to see all that milk wasted but what to do....

Wow, we are very lucky to have a quick labour indeed. I started timing my contractions at 6, wasnt sure if it is contractions or not, then 8pm hubby drove me to hospital, got there at 830 and by 915 baby born! When I got to the hospital, I begged the Dr to give me epidural, and she said "err... I think the baby will arrive before the epidural". I was like "ya right.oh shit.no pain relief?" But fortunately she came after 2 pushes. I am really thankful for an easy birth. And getting to the hospital on time.

Idont know how you cope with so many kids. Really admire you. Even with one toddler and one newborn, I find myself quite stressed when I have them both on my own. Last night,I went to pick the toddler up from my MIL and while feeding him dinner, my newborn started cryign for food too. No choice, got to nurse her. Then toddler got upset and wanted to be carried. In the end, neither of them got fed till daddy got home. So today I told daddy I will let him pick my toddler up. But I really miss him coz we use to spend so much time together.

u dun hv helper? im spoilt, i hv 2! when we were surviving with 4 kids n 1 helper, my life really revolved round the house. hub saw me poor thing so suggested another maid. more relaxed aft tat n can even spend time with hub wo kids.

i think the diff between urs n my situation despite the fact i hv 5 at hm n u 2, is my kids r much older than urs. my 8 n 6 yr olds no longer need my personal attn that much other than with their schoolwork. the only one i gotta pay special attn to is my gal cos she has been the youngest n being the only gal, she is the apple of our eyes. but even so she is doing v well maybe cos she her brothers when im busy with baby.

its challenging n equally heartpain for u cos ur toddler has always had ur undivided attn. not easy during initial days but things will get better im sure. how old is he? reassure him of ur love. maybe u can read a book to him while nursing? or do something tog u always do? gotta ask shelled for advice cos she is also multitasking with one tod n newborn.

my girl woke up at 1 hour interval the nite before..she woke up at 30min interval last nite...
i failed and succumb to FM at 4am...
after feeding her from 10 - 10.30pm, she'll fall asleep and wake up at 11pm for another feed till 11.30pm, fall asleep and wake up at 12am..
and this went on till 4am....
my breasts were dry by then.... at 4am, she sucked so hard a few times and then cry... i guess the supply wasnt enough or there was no milk coming out,
i changed breasts at each feed and hence even i offer 2 breasts at 3am, she was still wailing....
she sucked and give up, crying... i was really exhausted then....
and i asked CL to give her 60ml FM...
she managed to sleep for 2 hours...waking up at 6am again... CL gave her 90ml, and she finished 70ml...
and she just woke up at 8am for another latch on...
at least my breasts had a rest from 4-8am...and there's some milk...
now i'n pumping to store for nite feeds.... my pumps are not enough for her to drink man....
so sad........
now need to diligently pump every 2 hours liaoz..so that i can store for her nite feeds at alternate intervals so that at least i can take a little rest n rest my now very sore nipples...

i weighed myself last nite..and lost 10.8kg too.. hehhe..so happy...
it was only 8kg few days before.... and last nite i happily stand on weighing machine and was surprised to see another drop! woohoo!!
but i still have like 20kg to go...back to pre pre pre pregnancy weight.. haha... overweight liaoz la...

after 2 sessions of massage, my tummy has gone down from 42inch to 40.5inch...thats pretty good... i think..
but my ML is fully booked till nov...no way to squueze in another 5 sessions unless there's cancellations..
still thinking where else to get such cheap and good massage... ($32 per hour..)

ur baby feed 2 hourly? mine does n very difficult to go out also leh! cos by the time he finished feeding, burping blah blah blah its already abt 40mins!! wah like that i only lefft with less than one half hour to go out n come back b4 his next feed. must cheong like mad ah!

yest i tot i can ciao for 45 mins to pick my kids and i saw him napping so try my luck cos by the time i come back would be 2.5 hrs from his previous feed. who knows i came back mom told me he was wailing so loudly. heng i got 40ml ebm in fridge so gave him to shut his mouth first b4 i top up with latch on. wah stress ah. cant wait for full mth lah so i can bring him out when i go out! i need fresh air!!

I just want to share another tip my previous gynae asked me to do. I think it is important. <font color="0077aa">Do clean your nipples with nipple cream or olive oil once a day to remove any milk blockage. apply the cream or oil onto a facial cotton and wipe or remove any dried up milk from the nipples to clear the pores or holes where the milk is released. Clean it with water after.</font>

my bb feed 3hr-3.4hrs after last feed. so if i feed him from 2-230, his nxt feed will be at 530-6. so i got 3hrs in btw to go out. but i try not to go out for more than 2hrs so far. cos scare he wake up early ma. =p

keke. after full mth can bring him out? i try not to ba. anyway bring him out oso troublesome. need to feed outside. den need find room to hide.

i was the same! i didn't really count the movements until the very end. so what i did was poke my tummy to make sure she's alright. she always kicked back lah, lol.

SIGH! my MIL is so traditional. when i suggested visiting my mom last week, she gave me the EVIL EYE and refused to let me go out. later she nagnagnag at my hb coz i wanted to go out. so fed up! ARGH! i'm slowly going bonkers over here.
