(2009/09) September 2009 MTBs

Just wanna ask mummies who have used bumwear. It's suitable for bigger babies, not newborn right? Since it's only one size?

Hi jenifur, really? i have never thought of that before. Anyway, shall see how thing goes first? Might not buy the milkbags for a start...still have tons of shopping need to be done!! hehe ;p

Nursing Bra> somebody was doing a spree on nursing bra here... i bought from her. material ok la.. and its much cheaper compared to the ones at expo...
$19 each.... expo i saw all $30 & above....
i bought 2...think should be enough for now.. hehe.. :p

kiki> haha.. u bought alot at expo?? i didnt buy much.. on the contrary.. i bought $170 worth of stuffs at Kiddy Palace yest...
hahahhaa... used my fren's member card.. 20% discount... the sale will be till end of the month i think....

shelled> i bought the pupsik sling too.. its $38... i bought the nursing cover at the same booth for $35...
i bought Huggies Wipes instead of the J&J wipes.... $3.20 each pack of 72 each...
J&J seems more exp then??? $4.45 each pack...

insurance booths> hahaha.. i was telling my HB..ask me ask me..then i'll tell them.. "i'm in the same line! hahahha...."

berriepie> oh...Drypers so far heard alot of baby rash. seems not so good a brand... but then again..depends on ur baby.. :p
definitely cheaper than huggies...coz hugies is abt 27cents..
happy.gif

mama6> how much is nepia selling??? 4 packs of how many pcs????

Ling> hahaha.. i just simply park at the side of the road inside the car park... everyone doing that.. didnt even look for a lot loh..
hahaha..l i guess expo knows that people coming here to buy things..wont book us la.. heheh..they'll close one eye also...

Michelle> my fren bought the Pigeon Sterilizer at $95 during the previous baby fair at expo a month ago....
she bought for me la.. hahaha.. gift from a grp of frens.. hehehe
happy.gif

So now i've gotten everything from Pigeon also...
but seems like not many people getting Pigeon stuffs...

i've gotten Pigeon Sterilizer, Breast Pump, bottles and Breast Pads.. just that using Huggies Diapers & Wipes.. hehe.. :p
almost wanted to get Pigeon wipes also... 6 packs at $19.50 at most places now...

berrypie> yes yes... Capella S705.. There's someone selling at Toyota Wish forum..$200 used for 1-2 months... Aqua color...
anyone interested?? my coll in that forum told me.... :p

But its 8.5kg..really heavy.... now we wondering if we really need a stroller...and we prefer a red color one also....

S705 usually no sale de... hard la..so far always ard $329-$369....

yes.. S228 having sales... Kiddy Palace also sale... $218 i think..cheap....
lighters at abt 5.5 kg i think..but smaller...can last till prob abt 2 years..while S705 can last till 3 years thereabout...

Gerald> S228 is not reversible handle...smaller in size... and weighs 5.5kg..which is 3kg lighter than S705...
thats the main diff...

Whitey> i also bought Huggies but was not aware of the Huggies Club?????????????????? where?? how come the SA didnt tell me abt it!!??? Mmm...

lilac> please take care and we will be praying for u .... may God's protection be upon ur family and little one....

jenifur> i'm ok with the dates for outing.. keep me updated!!!
happy.gif

Jul> ya loh.. and thats why i gotten 12 packs... hahahaha.... coz it comes in box of 12..wanted to get 3 intiially...then i geh kiang.ask the SA pp normally buy how many??
she said 12..coz box of 12 easier to carry...and since driving.. then ok lo.. hahaha..
it was the 1st time we buying anything for BB at all...kindda exciting! hahha.. :p

corsage> yah.. i stopped folic acid after 12 weeks too....been on the pink multivit since..which already contains folic acid..
happy.gif

Ling> i would think..the date is fixed according to the size of the baby.... so... in a way... i think....
ur baby is probably smaller and hence the date is pushed behind....
coz the dates are generated on the scan based on the body measurements....

Siemens 3D Scan> oh... i sms the lady and i got the last slot for 15th July!! hehhehe... :p
so nice.. wanna see my bb then.. kekeke... 3D scan somemore...

Ling> hahaha...so u also bought Pigeon huh?? hehehehe....
huh.... how to use it before due?? hahha..

u going for the 2pm!!! i'm going for the 3pm slot!!!

jenifur> would prefer Plaza Sing.. Vivo abit far..heehee.. :p

Okie,..finally done with all the posts..read till i seh... hehehe..

I'm going to do up a list of what i've bought so far and what i need in time to come..
hahahhaa...

and i'll share it when i've done it. been wanting to do it today & yest.. but reading all the posts are enough to keep me busy half the day! hahaha....

Breastmilk,
Can i ask if we need those milk-trays or milk-bags to freeze BM? can we just use the milk storage bottles? are they the same? but not sure if i will run out of storage space for the bottles anot hor.. i got a few avent storage bottles from my purchase. But i did not get milk-trays or milk-bags. Are these necessary?

kiki> i bought 2x 200ml pigeon bottles...
and i got the NewBorn starter kit too... so it comes with 2x200ml bottle and 1x300ml bottle... hehehehe... :p

wide neck bottles....

Hi Rach,

The drypers is recommanded by my SIL so can only know whether BB hv rashes when i try later lor.

Huh..S228 cant reverse handle? The sale lady did the demo, can reverse leh.

*jul*
you mean now it's okay har? Then wait till when then roughly will know will be early or mid sept.. i so scare i don't even know if i am going into labour or not by then lor... i everything like blurblur.... the most recent check up... i saw a variety of dates on the scan lor.. can range from like 11sept-23sept...

*angeline*
hihi.. i think quite a number of us attending this same prenatal course leh.... think half of the class on that day might be filled with us.... :)

Milkway,

It all depends on are you going to freeze up your supply. I used my Ameda storage bottles to transport my EBM from office to home. Then I will transfer the EBM to milk liner & freeze so I can used the storage bottles next day in office. I've 6 x 4-ounce storage bottles & it's just right for my daily usage.

Or another way is for you to transfer yr EBM to BB's milk bottles for him to consume immediately the next day if you don't intend to freeze. EBM will only last for max 48hrs in fridge

U mentioned you've alot of storage bottles so hv to see if it's enough for yr daily usage.

JTS: I don't buy those expensive milkbags. I used the Playtex liners. 140pcs of 8oz liners cost S$11.00 so each liner cost bout S$0.08

Don't worry about your tummy size. I just checked with my gynae too. He mentioned that usually for 1st pregnancy is smaller... else you have to see your own size.. if you're petite, don't expect to have such a huge tummy! LOL! As long as baby is growing well, that's great! Don't worry okay... smile~

hui chern / Re: Confinement food catering
You are asking the wrong person, cos I don't like confinement food at all. Anything with strong ginger taste, I find it damn gross.
lol.gif
But based on those not-too-confinement type of dishes like fish, I guess it's quite nice.

joopz / Re:Bumwear
Bumwear will fit babies from 5kg onwards quite well. If newborn, the thigh area might be a bit loose lor. But they do have smaller sizes for under 5kg if you wanna let newborn wear. Although I don't recommend you get that, cos you won't get enough mileage from it. Babies put on weight very fast!

Hey Shelled, thanks for your prompt reply.
happy.gif

Guess I will use traditional cloth diapers for my newborn first, then switch to bumwear. Babies gain weight quite fast hor? Haha..

rach...

I tink its ok ba.. since ur inside the carpark n u still have to pay for the parking charges.. as long as u dun block the way, it shouldnt be a prob.. Im just not used to doing that.. heez...

Well, I shall leave the EDD aside for now. Wait next mth its another date.. so far its always been ranging in mid sept except yest.

hey.. u forgot i bought the Pigeon one also ah? I bought it during the New Mum's Exhibition at $199. U were asking got free gifts or not. I said got 4 packs of bb wipes.. remember? heez..

Im not asking u to try it on ur breasts now la.. As in learn how to fix n unfix everything together in preparation for use later. So by then when u need to use, it'll be a breeze..

Wat a coincidence.. u'll be doing the scan aft me..
happy.gif

haha.. i also did up a list of what i've bought so far.. Its my so-called bb expenditure list..inclu. gynae visits.. haha.. Have spent like close to 3.7K liao... Still haven buy a lot including cot n mattress..

Jenifur..

When all my orders from ur sprees are in.. Can just let me know how much i still owe u in total for shipping? Then i'll transfer to u..

BIG THANKS!!!
happy.gif

Re: J&J wet wipes
Ytd went to Plaza Singapura Carrefour, and saw 2 packs (80pcs) going for $7+. Even cheaper than 2 for $8.90 from Motherhood Exhibition lah!! Sorry i cannot remember exactly how much (cos my memory like shit now), but I confirm it's $7+ for 2 packs!!

*shelled*
I think i did see something from Bumwear like one size fits all... wonder whether it works well from infant anot... hahaa.. i totally clueless and confuse about this.. still trying to find out more regarding this.... :)

berrypie> erm... we were told it cant be reversed...and we saw from the brochure that it is not reversible also leh.. hehehe..

Ling> oh yah... hehehe... its better to know how to fix & dismantle it..
happy.gif

oh..my list just included the stuffs bought..yet to include gynae fees..intend to add it in also...

shelled> looks like J&J wipes not cheap also.. coz Huggies only $3.20...for 72 per pack la... i think J&J is pack of 80++ pcs rite??
hehe....

Hi Gina,

OK, our here dun have bumwear lah. i bought at spore. can use normal cloth diappies but cant last longer lo only can last 1/2 hrs ba then the urine will leaking ... wat i mean, the bumwear wit inserts can wear till abt 2 to 3 hours. after tat have to change new bumwear & inserts.

ur MIL brought frm where to sg neh... brunei?? i'm sure brunei dun have lo..

hahahah i think u will tio nag one.. coz last time when i buy it, my hubby bei song, bei liang & scold me say i spend too much ... after use it then he keep intro tis to his frend, say it nice & save a lot $$$. face 100% change neh..

Hi Joopz,

i agree with shelled.. bb will put on weight & grow very fast. i start to let my son use when he is 2 mths plus... for the 1st mth i use traditional cloth diaper too but have to change the diaper every 10 - 15min ba.. bb keep pee neh ..
happy.gif

so u have to standby more cloth diaper and washing alot lo..

Gina
I had my antenatal classes @ Thomson last time when expecting #1. I found it quite comprehensive. If the aqua fitness have to be on waiting list then I guess I can forget it already... I'm due in late Aug!!

rach
Waaah. You got list of your loot some more arh! I see "halter neck romper", sexy or not?
biggrin.gif
Yah, I think J&J wipes is one of the more expensive brands, but the wetness and size of each wipe works for us leh. My boy's backside so big, even when he do those soft mushy poop, also need to use 2pcs only. Just clean, fold in half, clean, fold in half. A lot of mileage leh!

WeldonMummy
Hi! Welcome!
happy.gif
First 2 months I can't stand using cloth nappies, cos TBF baby's poop damn watery and alot of pee!! The cribsheets keep getting stained until I have so much stuff to scrub and wash. It drove me crazy!

WeldonMummy,

Wow, every 10 to 15 min??? That's very frequent. Looks like the current cloth diapers I have will not be enough. Need to get more!!

princessxiaomei, it really depends how u see it. of cos if use cloth diapers, you need to wash. but if definitely cheaper and environmentally friendly i supposed

Oh my mil bought the normal cloth diappies and inserts in miri i think. Hehe. What i was asking is if we can use the normal liners/inserts (not sure what it is called lol ) we can get outside or must get the bumwear Micro-fiber Insert?

they have this newborn trial kit not sure should invest not.. it seems to have everything but 1 set each..

the cloth diaper spree haystack is organising looks similar to bumwear.. but it is organic.

shelled> hahahaha.. I love that halter neck romper.. ahahahaha..just worrid she'll catch a cold.. but we'll wrap her up la... hahhhaa..

i love halter necks myself! hahahhahaha......

when i bought the huggies wipes..was told its thicker than J&J...so supposedly better...coz J&J was told to be very thin... dunno..never used before.. but since its cheap then... coz usual price is $4.20.. only at Cold Storage.. Expo selling at $3.20...$1 off...so made it very affordable... hehehe... :p

Rach,
u sure bought lots of things already huh... me not yet leh... think time for me to start listing down wat to get too.. hehe

Jenifur

Thanks for the info on breastmilk storage!
Actually I also bought some Playtex liners from spree, but I'm aware that it does not come with the resealable feature.

How do you seal your Playtex bags then for breastmilk feezing?

1 more question, from office you bring your expressed milk in the storage containers. At home you transfer to Playtex liner. Do you find that transferring the milk from the storage container to the Playtex liner, some milk is wasted (ie. residue in storage container which can't flow out)

I'm asking this question cos the expressed milk, each drop is very precious right.

Hi Whitey

Yes... For sure some milk will be wasted in the process of transferring.

For sealing of Playtex bags, I will use rubber band to tie it up.

My wife is going for the Fitball class at KKH in Jul. She doesn't really like aqua-aerobics.

And my goodness! Such a flurry of activity today!

hi ladies..

i missed a lot today.. so many posts to read!
Just to clarify.. i requested for the straight 6mths long ML.. but pending approval.. lol.. if not approved.. have to work smthing else out.
Thank you for the sharing on information on infant care/ EBM!! very very informative...

Wow Rach.. you have a very detailed shopping list.. even more detailed than mine :p

Milktray
Seems the milktray is quite useful.. but i missed out the promo to buy it at the expo fair..

Whitey.

I used scotch tape to seal the liners, so far so gd, no leakage. I'll place the liners insde a cup den pour. After that I will squeeze out e air den seal. If u r coming to e next gathering den I'll bring a milkbag to demo.

I'll usually gently shake e bottle to make nothing sticks to e side of e bottles. Den after pouring, I will use e bottle to make FM for my #1 DD or milo for myself. Then nothing is loss lor *hee*

And hor nobody else is allow to do the transfer process beside ME!!. I dun trust anyone else after DH accidental spill abit.

Prettymums (prettymumscom),

Seem like u forgot to switch yr ID ya.

hui chern/ jul: u all oso got e suan suan feeling at pelvic?? it's coz of e pelvic bone expanding?

it's hard to walk leh

rach: i used e same tactic as u when i meet insurance agents! i juz say i'm fr compl;iance fr tat insurance company n walk off.. hehehe it usually works

jess: ooh ur folks stay nearby.. tat's good to hear la.. so long as u're bored n got company is fine.. keke.. my fren is ok.. she almost got depression, but she snapped out of it..

sandwich: which infantcare u sent ur kid to? i stay at punggol n work at tanjong pagar..

i oso feel infant care is slightly better coz there's some education.. n after subsidy it's like $400 only.. for babysitter, i found one juz beside my mum's unit like next door! her son is P3 and is q well behaved but i suspect oso watches alot of TV type..

Morning everyone!

Jenifur
Thank you for the explanation. Wow, you have a good idea to use the storage bottle to make FM for DD or Milo for yourself. Serious, that way no BM is wasted! =)
Thank you for the offer to demo, but for now I'm really unsure if I can make it for the gathering though. I think other MTBs can benefit from your demo too at the gathering!

Prettymums
Thank you too for your response! Ya I've heard of mummies sealing their Playtex with rubber bands but was thinking, I need to buy a brand new pack of rubber bands (in a unique colour) solely used for sealing the Playtex bags.
Now Jenifur also offered another solution; to use scotch tape =)

Off-topic abit, so MND Maxwell is near your workplace. Last time when I had some training at MND Building, I like to have breakfast at the food centre. You know 2nd floor, the stall called "Coffee Break"? Wow, their hot drinks very delicious! I like to buy the Almond Vanilla drink, but it's sweet so I will dilute with hot plain water to make it less sweet.

whitey,
if you're afraid of wastage, then pump into a feedable bottle in the office, and let bb consume from the same bottle the next day. don't bother freezing the milk you've pumped in the office unless you've pumped it on friday. when i had to freeze my BM into milkbags before i went for my overseas trips (took abt 3 - 4 trips when i was still breastfeeding), i chose the gerber milkbags. costs about $0.50 per piece. it looks like a zip lock bag, so don't require additional devices to seal it up. i think it's pretty expensive, but i use it anyway and comfort myself that if i was feeding formula, i'll have to spend a lot of milk powder too ...

cho,
my boy goes to learning vision @ temasek life sciences laboratories (inside NUS). hmm, think it's too far away from you ...
