Thanks! Ya, I know the importance of a carseat but we didnt buy together with my stroller cos its not worth it lo.. They are selling it at $300+ at Expo if u buy individually.. But cos they made a mistake to the price the gave me for the stroller set, the supplier gave me a special disc(only for me). Selling the whole set with car seat for $888. Meaning it would cost an additional $200 instead of $300+ for the car seat. Sounds like a good deal?? However, after much consideration, the car seat can only be used up to 6-9mths. Aft tt, bb would have outgrown le. So no pt. lo. Pay an additional $200 for just 6 mths of use..

Will still be looking out for car seats ba...

YIPPY!!!...

Hubby gave a sudden call earlier this afternoon. Haven received a call from him since Tues. He's at Perth Airport le. Reaching SG tonight! The job there ended very early, so can come back le. This time instead of the min 2 weeks, max 1 mth, it turned out to be only 1 WEEK. He made it in time for my gynae appt tmr aftnoon.. So HAPPIE!!!

Though this may be shortlived, I'm just glad he's back.

Cost wise it's quite a bit to pay for a "starter kit", and I've never really calculated whether it is more cost efficient than using disposables. My #1 used to rotate between disposables (for going out and nighttime) and Bumwear (for daytime at home).

What I did was buy a box of Pigeon wipes with the box. Then we can reuse the box. Quite convenient I find, b/c it works like a tissue box cover.

The insert is highly absorbent for soaking up pee. You have to wash both the insert and the bumwear itself. I change the insert after each time my boy pees, so I don't have to buy so many pcs of bumwear.

Argh. I just need to complain.

My tummy is feeling SO TIGHT and HEAVY, i feel like I'm going to explode! I've been feeling like that since ytd, and it's really really uncomfortable. I haven't even been able to eat much despite being hungry, because my belly already feels so tight! I can't even drink water without feeling like i'm going to explode. I have no idea what I can do to feel better, and I cannot imagine this sensation getting worse down the remaining 11 wks.

just wondering have you all gotten a cot yet? Am on a budget and wonder have you ladies come across steady but affordable cots? Was at the Motherhood fair but all cost at least $280 and above. Am looking at adjustable ones actually..

Another thing is about confinement. Anyone did their own confinement? My mum do not know anything about confinement and my mil is living in Malaysia. Need some tips as my hubby will not be able to take too many leave as well

Domestic helper- any recommendations? Am thinking of getting one that can take care of babies and do housework. Help lighten my load so i don't need to put my baby in infant care. Have a dog as well.. What are the things to lookout and ask before employing one? Am thinking of sharing the cost with my mum.

so far the cots we have seen costs near 250 and above. But we saw 1 that sells for 199 but dont really like it cos it's not convertible. (dont rem where i've seen it) In the end, bought our bb cot at Baby Kingdom for $319 and upgrade the mattress to safety mattress for $20 more. According to the salesperson, the safety mattress has holes for air to circulate so bb wont feel too warm and apparently when bb starts to turn about, bb won't suffocate too. Didnt get latex cos too ex.

Britax,
interested to get this car seat too but find it super ex with not sale. Mayb will check out Mothercare at marina sq to see if they have GSS on.

Hmm.. afraid I can't advise on the cot - Got a hand me down from SIL.

As for confinement, I got a COnfinement Lady. Coz I think I will be pengsanz after childbirth, so wanna spend some time to recuperate.

My mum is working (& she doesn't know anything also heehee). MIL can do, but I'm not comf with sitting there & letting her do everything. Not gd for the relationship lor. So to avoid any potential conflict, I got a CL.

If u r worried abt food, u can get confinement food catering if u r not too particular. Just google ard & u shd be able to get some co. that do that. And if u r not the dun-intend-to-bathe at all type, u can attend antenatal classes, read up & try to prepare urself as much as possible.

As for maid.. hmm I dun have one. Some of the mummies here do, & they shd be able to advise u better. HTH.

if you have a dog, then you've gotta check with your prospective helper if she's alright with taking care of dogs. some staunch muslims (indonesian helpers) may be uncomfortable with that. also, are you planning for your prospective helper to take care of the baby, do housework and take care of dog? that's a lot of work for the helper to do! otherwise, for your first month, you can get a confinement lady instead of relying on a helper. but that means, you'll have to take care of your dog for the first month on your own, cos can't expect the confinement lady to clean the dog's poo.

okay to give the guys some credit, my husband's the more romantic partner. and i know of a lot of husbands who are more romantic than their wives. for my case, i'm usually choose very practical (rather than lovely or surprising) gifts for him.

we just bought a car over the weekend. we've got a carseat too, but for my toddler and not the infant who's arriving in sep 09. there's a lot of carseat models on sale at habourfront mothercare, in case anyone needs to do a lot of browsing before buying. i haven't decided which infant seat i'll be getting, and might end up purchasing a second hand piece because from my experience with #1, if the baby below 1 years old and in the car, 90% will be in my sling breastfeeding or snoozing. hence the carseat, though mandatory, will be rather underutilized.

For carseats, we've gotten the Maxi Cosi one over the weekend at Baby Hypermart which can be used from newborn to 4 years old. It's on sale, selling for $238 (price after 40% discount if I remember correctly). There're 3 different colours to choose from. Hubby was attracted by the price, colour & also the fact that it can be used up to 4 years old. Downside is there's only 2 positions but we reckon it's not really an issue for us. We bought the yellow & red one. Maybe for those who're looking for carseats can consider this too.

We also got the Peg-Perego Pliko P3 Classico stroller at Mothercare Marina Square. Think the Usual Price was $798 but it was selling for $538. Met a friendly couple who have 3 kids at Mothercare and they highly recommended the stroller. So we immediately grabbed it since Hubby got attracted to it at first sight. Only thing is there's only one colour available at Mothercare but fortunately Hubby likes that colour (orange). Anyway, we saw the same stroller on sale (same price) at Baby Hypermart. They have colours to choose from. So if anyone is keen, can probably drop by to take a look. =)

hi michelle.. yes the mattress very exp.. when i first saw the price.. i was like 0_0. Anyways, this is BabySafe brand.. maybe that why it so exp too. I got a hand-me-down cot so i just need to buy a new mattress and every other thing.
Read good reviews on the BabySafe mattress.. so i guess shld be good to "invest" in one... lol
