My bb is already pass one month old.. why he still sooooo frequent feeds?! is like 1.5hr the most only 2hrs?!

im like 24/7 attach to bb... im going crazy......

my bb feeding is like exmple 1am cry for feed, feed til 1.45am then 2.15 make him sleep, he sleep til 3am then cry for feed again... see he only sleep less then 1hr... tat apply to me, i no sleep 24/7 now....

HELP.. any remedy?

i tot bb tat time have growing spurt and its over now..

is tis growing spurt again? how many growing spurt will bb have?

when will these extremely frequent feeding stop?

You sure he's hungry? Maybe you try expressing to see how much he's drinking?

For me, I think she's a tad colicky... So I mix Colic drops in her milk... Hoping i can get rid of the wind...

Growth spurt is a phase I heard... No specific time span..

i check, his tummy is soft soft.. not colic anymore...

my bb need feed every 1.5 to 2hrly... and sleep only lesser then 1hr...
 
Hi ladies,

I've been MIA for a while, now really busy catching up with the posts.

Thank God my baby girl was finally delivered on 5 Oct (Mon) at 2356h. She was actually due on 26 Sep. Then I waited till 41 weeks, still no sign of labour and absolutely not dilated at all.

On Fri (2 Oct) 3pm, my gynae placed a pill in me to help dilate. I 'checked-in' to the hospital near midnight and just waited.

On Sat morn 6am, the contractions came in. By 7am, the contractions were 4min apart but when the gynae did VE on me at 9am, I still wasn't dilated, only 'soften'. sigh. So she placed another pill.

Then on Sun morn 10am, she checked again. I was only 1cm dilated and she placed yet another pill. From Fri till Sun, I was pacing the entire hospital and Novena Square, hoping to have some signs of labour but to no avail.

On Mon 9am, I was still 1cm dilated. So no choice, at 10am, my gynae broke my waterbag and put me on a drip and the contractions started coming in.

At 4pm, I was 4cm dilated. So happy. So I continued to tahan. My gynae told me that I prob can deliver by midnight (that's another 8 hours away!).

By 5pm, I cannot take it liao. So I asked for gas.

At 9pm, I was 9cm dilated. Hurray!

Finally at about 10.15pm, the midwife started to 'train' me to push. And baby Olivia finally made her grand entrance at 11.56pm! 4min before midnight!!

Thank God for a supportive hubby, encouraging gynae and strength to go through. Now I'm still in the hospital cos bb has jaundice (11.5) and need to be under photo-therapy. Hopefully, the pedae will give her the all-clear today and we can finally go home after a week's stay at the hospital. I can't wait to see the sun again!

morning all!
woke up so early at 5am today because baby wanted to nurse. after nursing, he was very awake and i just put him back to sleep. eating cornflakes now before my toddler wakes up and gets ready for school ...

there seem to be a couple of "night-owl" babies on the thread. mine's so far so good. he likes nursing in the day, and sleeps a 4-5 hour stretch at night. so last night, he slept from 1am feed until 5am feed. i get 4 hours of sleep, which is considered super good for my standards =)

yes! i've heard of this kind of thing before! cannot say good things abt the baby etc... ok lah, maybe i won't say things like "wah! today she slept through the night! damn good man!" in case i jinx it, but i think saying negative things to the baby a bit harsh isn't it? it's like how they used to call baby boys "ah kow" or "ah ter" in case they get taken away by evil spirits!

sleeping 4-5 hrs in a row is GOOD! yeah, my bb also the same. poop must cry, fart must cry, pee also must cry. haha! (she's almost 6wks old)

have u checked online abt baby acne? they all get it ard 2mths old. growth spurts happen in week 1, 3, 6 and 9. expect to be mother cow at those times!

urs could be a case of baby acne. mine tat time was a bad case of baby acne, rashes n eczema. now acnes cleared already but still got a bit of rashes on cheeks. hv to keep cleaning cheeks several times a day. ps suggest to just put calendula or coconut oil.

it should go away on its own in a few weeks. yes its ugly but no choice lo.

hahha.. i used to drip like water when i'm eating..for the 1st 2 weeks..but have cooled down a lot laioz..
i think coz not so stressed..initally everything do fast fast..even when i'm eating i eat very fast..
everything so gan cheong like that.... faint....

my mum says coz now i used to the routine.. more relaxed, not so gan cheong, so i dun sweat as much and get as sweaty liaoz. heheh...

dun give up.. your supply will increase as u persevere.
I was told my bb was dehydrated on the 3rd day after i discharged too.she keep having pinkish urine.
And nurse at Mt A says thats insufficient fluid..
I also succumb to FM for a few days.. i cant rem how many days now...
and until my supply came in and i was religiously pumping before and after latch to have EBM standby.
Then i moved from latching and giving FM to latching and giving EBM instead..
then i moved to giving only 1 bottle of EBM at nite so that i can rest..but i still had to pump to relieve engorgement..
but at least it was easier to pump initially for me, coz my baby was latching at every hour in the 1st 2 weeks..
i almost died.and nipple also almost died..

but after 3rd &amp; 4th week, the giving of EBM at nite was more to let her sleep longer.. (or so i thought)

Last nite was the 1st time i latched (or maybe 2nd time considering the previous nite my HB took too long to warm up EBM)
at the wee hours, and she had a feed at 3:55am (last feed was actually 11pm) and slept till 850am for another feed..
so even thru latching she could sleep for 4-5 hours!!!

So i guess its a growing up process for them, i used to latch for 40min per feed.. but some how it suddenly reduced to 10-15min per latch at the 4th week.
I tot something is wrong but apparently, mothers like mama6 and shelled also latch for just 10-15min..

So just go according to ur baby's needs..
latch whenever he/she wants, coz sometimes it could just be comfort latching and she's not really hungry.

We gotta learn from bb's drinking pattern lo..
and jotting down the drinkin times does help..
i have a better idea how she's feeding...

i have a notebook. and this is how i record..

8 Oct 2009.
1. 8am - 815am L
2. 10.15 - 1030am R
3. 12.30 - 12.45 L
4. 2.00 - 2.16pm R

10. etc...

And i know how many feeds she has per day... so my girl has aboout 9-11 feeds daily.
It depends. Sometimes she latch for 2 min and fall asleep... so i dun record tat.. i take it as comfort suckling..
and she usually need to suckle before she falls asleep.. she cant just go to sleep like that.. :p

So like last nite from 9-11pm, she was like permanently on my breasts...
after 10-15min, she unlatch, then check diapers, then she cry, eyes big big... so i latch again, she sucke abother 10-15min, then she unlatch..
the cycle repeated till about 11plus.. i also fall asleep liaoz.. and thats why she could last till 3:55am for the next feed...
it was a long 5hours.. she was storing for a long nite.. hehe.. :p

mummies, my 3wk old baby tends to cough &amp; sometimes gag during her latch on (initial stages during let down). Suspect it cld be tt my let-down is too fast for her to swallow cos there's milk flowing out of her mouth. Also, sometimes she will release the latch when it's too uncomfortable for her n I see 'jets' of milk shooting out from my nipple (and onto her face n my clothes!)

anyone encountered this b4 n has suggestions to make baby more comfortable? Wondering how I can bf her in public without creating a mess due to the strong letdown

also, how do we know tt baby has emptied the first breast during feeding? Want bb to get the hindmilk from the first breast b4 moving on to the other one

it's not your pump that's lousy. it's our bbs that are good pumps! really! i had blocked ducts once so i pumped. no use. i could still feel the blockage in the boob. i then decided to latch bb on. BINGO! in 5 mins, the blockage was cleared! cannot underestimate what our little bbs can do! ;)

if ur letdown is really very strong, maybe u can try pumping some milk out first. once the flow slows down, latch bb on. store the milk though. don't waste! but i think as bb grows older, she will get used to drinking the 'fast' milk and then u won't have this problem anymore. don't think there's anything we can do to slow down the letdown. but i'm not sure... any other mummies can help?

I've only consumed 4 caps in total... I just got it yesterday! I pump 4-5 hrs... I think it did help... Or maybe it's all in the head.. LOL

I'm "abusing" my low supply boob by shifting the pump in all directions as I pump... XD

I got 150ml. Both sides... Either it's the liquids I been consuming... Or it's the Fenugreek.

On the bad side.. The capsules are pretty huge... But not a problem to me. For the sake of more supply... I will swallow! =3

Anyone else needs help in buying 2 bottles of GNC Fenugreek @ $44.25?

So far Stephanie is on the list... Better than my HB keep going there to buy and buy... The counter staff may think I consume a bottle a day. XD

All mummies who are trying out the lying down position for breastfeeding, seems like for this position, bb is not sucking hard. I know my boy manage to take in some milk, but also leaking from the side of his mouth also.

When I shift abit to make myself comfortable, the nipple fall out. lol Then gotta latch again. Getting crazy with all the frequent night latching, hoping to master this position so I can get some rest when feeding.
 
My boy is 34 days old and is still feeding every 2hrs. Sometimes even 1.5 hrs. Does this mean that my milk supply is low that he needs to feed so frequent? Sometimes at night, he wakes up just after an hr crying for milk. Seems like he's always hungry at night and can't sleep long hours, not even 3 hrs. Tried to bottle feed him, but after that, he didn't want to sleep. I still gotta latch him on, then he sleeps. Haiz, isn't bottle feeding him to allow me to rest. But not the case for mine. T_T

I also encounter same problem. She refuse to open mouth when the milk start shooting. it make me n her cloths wet.

At times, she will vomit out lots of milk. Today, even got milk come out from nose.

I tried pump out some at times but worried that pump too much, not enough for her.

with regard to CDA account, i have checked before that u can opt for the babybonus $4k to go into your own account so that u can use now... because if u opt for it to go into CDA account, u will not be able to take it out to use, so not feasible for it to be a savings account for the child as the funds can only be used for limited purposes...

Mine only sleeps 4-5 hrs sometimes, but mostly still wakes up every 3hrs for milk. But as long as he doesn't stay awake and fuss after feeding, I'm good with it.

It's 500g til pre-Keegan weight hor. Still 5.5kg til pre-Joshua weight! I wonder if the fats have already solidified after 2 yrs of being there...

Actually it's hard to fit into your bottoms than your tops lor. But give it some time lah.
BFing burns off quite a lot of calories (which is why we're easily hungry), so even if you don't do anything, 2-3 mths later also will lose quite a fair amt of weight. Unless you overeat due to the hunger or eat high fat/sugar stuff lah!
But toning wise... i think that one have to ownself jiayou.
If only BFing can lose weight + tone up, I'm sure plenty more women will BF for very very long!

That's a good problem to have!! But it can be quite scary to see your bb almost choke, then all the milk squirting everywhere.
Last time with J, i just prepare a small towel under his neck to catch the squirts/drips, and let him slowly learn how to handle the fast flow. By the time he turn 1 mth old, he was expert liao.
Not sure how you can make her more comfy though.

An emptied breast will feel very soft, instead of feeling hard and full.
If you squeeze/press it, you should feel no lumps or hard areas.

My bb sucks normally in lying down position leh.
The milk leaking from sides of mouth is more due to gravity and overflow when milk flow is too fast. Sometimes i even get a wet patch on my bedsheets!
I think the reason for a weaker suck is probably cos bb is sleepy?

There's no hard and fast rule that bottlefeeding will allow you to rest lah. Unless someone else is doing it!
Some babies just feed more often than others. It's the size of their tummy, and their preference for how full they will "eat" until.
At least after you latch him on, he'll sleep. Kids like my #1 last time, after latch on also won't sleep! Totally waste my effort.
