i had blocked ducts yesterday morning... squeeze and scratch the white spot on the nipple, and press on breast for half an hour then clear the duct. until now my breast still feels like kena bashed up...

your gal so good, drinks 4-5 hourly interval. unlike mine, every 2-3 hours.
last night my boy drinks 100ml EBM, he was wide awake, then 2.5 hours later gotta latch again. but then cried for milk again 4 hours later. break record!! i nearly want to buy 4D!!!
i only pump once and feed EBM once a day. i really wonder how much he drinks from latching.

yes i got mastitis 3 times in a row when i bf my gal. LC also wondered how i could get mastitis when i have been breastfeeding my gal for 5 mths!
had fever up to 39 deg plus then body aching n shivering. boobs v painful to touch, ended up with bruises due to massaging.
have ur blocked ducts cleared already? v important to clear the blockages if not ur fever will not go away and the worst scenario is can end up in breast abscess. that one need surgery to remove.
i still latch my gal on during my course of antibiotics. just make sure the antibiotics is safe for breastfeeding. the normal one like amoxycillin should be safe if im not wrong.
we r all very wei da, dun u think? in some ways or another, we r all striving so hard to breastfeed our babies. even seasoned breastfeeder like me still get challenges during the course. just hang on. i know once i pass the 3 mth mark, things will be much much better.
today just went for baby's 5 week check up. he is now 5.5kg and 57cm. though most of the times i dunno how much he drinks cos 98% of the time he latches on, its figures like this that keeps me motivated and going!

Shelled, I don't quite understand the heating reference chart. How come it takes 17 mins to heat up milk to 40 degrees and then only 6 mins to heat up to 70 degrees. Shouldn't it take longer to heat up to 70 degrees? If I want to heat up frozen BM, I can just use the warmer instead of thawing the milk first? From your experience, how long does it take to heat up a 100ml cold (not frozen) BM?
I have also been using hot warm to warm cold bm. If use warm water, then I think will take ages. Hot water warming the milk will destroy the nutrients?
Regarding the Ameda pump, I also don't sterilise the silicon thingy. Just sterilise anything that is plastic. So far ok, my boys never lao sai. As for the let down...sorry lar, not blessed enough to encounter that. I did realised sometimes, air gets trapped inside and there is like a farting noise and suddenly, more milk will flow into the bottle. Why not you call your supplier to ask? Or write to Ameda?

frozen EBM in glass bottles takes about 12 hours to defrost, frozen EBM in milk bag about 8 hours to defrost... that is based on my fridge lah

can wear is like a shawl kind, like in my FB bb shower.. it was all over me...and can use as blanket to cover bb if we are out and its cold..

the pouch is to carry bb, and yah...carry bb inside loh.. the nursing poncho cannot put baby inside..

Because 70 degrees means the warmer will be hotter, and therefore take less time to turn cold milk/food into hot milk/food.
Think about it this way: If you put a piece of meat into the oven to cook, it will take longer to cook if you set it at 40 degrees as compared to 70 degrees. Same logic lor. And when you cook it at 70 degrees, the meat will reach (for example) 50 degrees at a much faster speed.
therefore if you use the warmer @ 70 degrees, it actually takes much less time to for the milk/food to reach 70 degrees than if you use the 40 degree setting.
I know its damn confusing and doesn't make sense. My hubs had to explain it to me last time when we first started using the warmer for J.
As for warming up chilled milk, depending on how cold your fridge is, usually no more than 10mins for 100ml (in pigeon storage bottle) on 40 degree setting. If other bottles with thicker material, then maybe will take a bit longer.

i dun let my girl sleep on her back straight.
Coz its pretty uncomfortable for her, esp after feeds, and it'll make her head flat..
i let her sleep on her side, so that if there's any vomit, she can puke it out..wont end up going back to her throat.
this is also as advised by the nurses to let them sleep on their sides..
and i also let my girl sleep on her tummy, helps to release wind.. and she is clever enough to turn her head from left to right when she's sick of one side.
when she sleep on her side, i put one pillow behind her back to support.

You can hang it at your neck as seen on the websie...
For sling, I'm using MIM silk sling. I find it much cooling than other materials

I use 70deg to melt the frozen milk, then use eggtimer to set abt 5mins.
Once it's melted (but still cold), I turn back to 40deg.
If really use 40deg all the way for frozen milk, I can wait until sun comes up sia.

Cos he know if he irritate me, I'll just not give him BM. Then he'll have to drink FM.

don't think baby detergent powder has low suds kind. Just don't put so much. A quarter scoop is quite a lot for 5 litres of water to soak a big pail of clothes.

If hot, just place a thin nappy for baby to lie on in the cot and turn baby to sleep on one side alternating after each feed. It works quite well for my girl so far without aircon, only fan on at low speed.

yah i didnt want sarong also cos of the back thing.. but my mum argued says head will be rounder and better shaped. -.-' and also my gal slps till her back is hot and head sweating, so my mum also says sarong will be cooler also... sigh... anyway she gonna be botak this sat le..

thanks.... wiyah we changed her top when it's wet lor cos scared she catched a cold.. she very kelian too cos those clothes i bought for her are too big for her now and so she has been rotating the same tops from the bugis shop! day in day out wearing the same designed top.. haha
and super headache over her baby shower clothes lor.. cos none of them can fit her. Tmr i'm going out to get her NB size ones...

i have one whole clan of grandaunts, grandmas, aunts and my mum all keeping an eye on what i do. so, just giving u the advice they gave me. baby will have round head if she doesn't sleep on one particular side all the time and you massage her head gently every day. been doing tat for my first 3 and their heads all look round.

BUT i not sure if she uses it @.@ because i am not allowed to move around too much... i am sick of confinement food... HELP!! already told MIL not to put too much ginger in her soup... bleah.. SO MUCH CHICKEN!!! haiz but better than no one cook for moi >.<

I'm so tired. ): I guessed most of us here are so tired. I am like looking after my baby full shift. Day time my mum able to help me a little cos i have 1 monster in the house who totally mess my place upside down. So end up she's so busy with him. On and off i am able to glance through what all of you type but had no time to reply. Could only glance... ): I miss my beauty sleep..... some of the nights when i am totally so shag and sleepy... and when baby doesn't sleep, i cry together with him... most of the time we are having a battle from midnight till dawn.... how come like that ah.... ): My eyes already closing yet he's still wide awake! Sobz... I feel so tired and exhausted. I don't even feel hungry. I feel thirsty more than hungry.... and i feel soooooo sleepyyy.. really sleepy.. but i cannot sleep yet cos this little baby still open his eyes so BIG!

I've been putting my milksticks in the fridge to thaw at nite ard 11pm. By morning 9am, it's still in stick form lah!
But it does speed up the warming up process though. Faster than if I just directly heat up immed after taking out from freezer.

He didn't nap enough in the afternoon, then quietly went to my room to nap again when I was cooking dinner. Cos he secretly went to nap so late (7-8pm), now he so energetic lah! *angry*
If I just go and sleep, he will come out into living room and turn on TV to watch and play toys!
Now I'm nursing a throbbing headache on top of my sleepiness.
