At least u latched. I pumped for 10mths+. Really wanted to collapse lor.

But it's good that u kept it up so long. U feel very "weida" or not? hahaha

Actually i dun think i saved anything. Coz i bought 2 pumps, lots of fenugreek, pump bottles, detergent, n used a lot of electricity on pump, sterilisation etc n visited parentcraft 5 times. I think FM will be cheaper for my case haha

Yeah thank god that i made it. Cannot believe what i went thru to give sam the so called best. Think i was wearing blinkers for the whole time!
 
Jul: then i spend even more. Bought a electric pump and manual pump, all the parts, detergent etc like u but still have to give formula milk. Haha.
 
Morning all.

All mummies are weida, we've been through the pregnancy period and delivered our babies and our babies are now toddlers ! We still have at least 10 more years to look after their every needs

Hahaha I spent $800 on pumps, $200 on pump parts, $200 on various bottles & teats, $100 on milkbags, maybe $200+ on fenugreek? Haven't counted the $150 on Parentcraft & all the additional detergent & electrcity! really shiong leh! hahaha

Only 10 yrs meh??? I think it's a lifetime, bcoz we may need to look after their kids! haha
 
jul, the return of investment for pumps will come with baby #2

My pump lasted 3 kids, and now my friend is using it! Totally worth the $600 I paid.

cannot count like tt 1 la.. we use FM also got use electricity n bott detergent mah the FM 1 month can cost us $200-300/mth in the beginning leh.. n the goodness in BM is priceless..
 
Agree wif Mich the ROI for pump will come in when we have baby#2 or 3 hahaha...but if i hv #2 i need to get a new or 2nd hand pump cos i lend from my fren for #1.

Hey, u can't get antibodies in fm! All I needed was to catch the same virus as my gal when she was sick and voilà, I get instant 'meds'. Hahahah.

ya alr place order for the pump for #1 i use a hand me down pump cmi.. but i stop mainly becos i cant handle la cos my hb not ard mah den need to work, do housework n take care of bb alr no time how to pump keke... n my previous co no room...

btw i jus called up GUG to reserve a slot gotta go n pay soon..

Wah .. all these talk abt breastfeeding just can't help but make me feel so inadequate and ashamed cos i wasn't able to. No matter how i milked and squeezed, i still wasn't able to fill up 1 bottle, let alone fill his hunger

Dun say that lah. U din use the mother of all pumps mah. And you din take fenugreek until u laosai, take domperidone or spent 3.5 hrs to pump everyday.

U did hsework, took care of Ovann all by yourself leh. Your reward is the bonding with him.
 
Haha .. jul, ok, i din use a good pump but i did take fenugreek, nursing tea, drink milo, drink soup and i definitely spent more than 3.5hrs to pump everyday leh. Imagine u all take 1/2hr to reach the quota per pump but i had to do it doubly hard and i dun even reach half of the target amt. My backache started from here cos i was trying to squeeze/massage as i pumped which resulted in a bad position. Was feeling damn tired, back aching, not to mention demoralising.

Bonding ah .... to tell you the truth, i dun feel any bonds with him till a few mths later leh. Wonder if i'm normal ...?

Anyway, i think i won't be going thru that again ... haha .. cos dun think i'll be having #2.
 
Pegs: hi five. I also did all that including taking the yucky fishy papaya fish soup right from 3rd tri which i hated but force myself to take cos can increase supply. Fenugreek didnt work for me. I didnt get backache but my sofa have to change after i stop expressing cos i always sit in that position 6 times a day, 1/2 hr at each time. Haha.

Even if u didnt feel the bond straight away with ovann, i'm sure he bonded with his mama.

How much did u express per session? My highest was 18 mls per combined per session.
 
Talk abt breastfeeding, i din latch at all, all the while pump oni.. No chance coz he was premature and that time he got sucking problem too. Then after he discharge, i become afraid.. Hee..

Wat is fenugreek? I nv take b4.. But i quite like the papaya fish soup leh. Took almost everyday.. Did u fry tge fish abit, not so fishy... My supply not much too.. I took tge medicine the lactation give. A small white tablet, forgot wats that call..

Haha .. i quite like the papaya fish soup though but like u, everything i tried din work lor.

I think my supply not any better ... abt 30-40ml combined for every 45mins or an hour's pump.

I even went to extent of eating whatever my massage lady (mdm rokiah. Think some of u got her fir breast massage too). She told me to eat more ikan bilis, chives and even this roadside weed called pergaga which some malays swear it increases.. But i didnt take that cos really look like weed. Haha.

Babyja: yeah 18 mls combined from both sides. So 'much' hor.. Even when i could like get jets of milk when hand express, leak lah, still amount to 18 exactly. Haha. And shayna didnt like to latch on initially too. When she finally decided she liked to latch at 3 months, supply no imcrease.

I hated the fish soup. Even with frying, good papaya etc
Still tasted yucky to me. Maybe it was hormonal? But i still finish it also cos my mum made the effort to make.

I heard raspberry tea helps.. I tried their nursing teA, dun think it helped. But my friends who took the raspberry tea leaf got giid supply. Anyone tried that?

Maybe i'll try that for #2.
 
the medicine the lactation gave me say take for 2 weeks.. it do increase abit lah, not not much too.. from abt 50mls to 100+mls each pump.. i still got to supplement FM.. i give up when i oni manange to gave javier 1 feed of BM per day, coz i drop pump to 2 pumps a day that supply drop.. thats abt 6 month.. hee..

Reira took the raspberry tea i took also but my supply v v pathetic but Reira took 2-3 time a day if not wrong but i only took 1 time dunno if it make a diff or Reira is jus bless with gd supply:p

my bb cannot latch, always suck in alot of air and throw all the BM out.

i had to pump and pump. and it's difficult to pump when i need to take care of bb, do housework and settle my own meals. my bb poo 6-8 times a day , watery kind , always have to change the bedsheets ...

until now, my bb poo is still watery kind, at least once a day, and will leak out and stain the clothes ...

I think it's the pumping that really ups supply. When i was pumping with the ameda, i got like 100ml per day. Then after fenugreek n mother of pumps, 200-300ml. Took that white tablet thing plus pump like siao with mother of pumps, up to 800-900ml. So.. It's really demand = supply for pple with little milk

I drank red dates tea, milo, water, fish soup. Made myaelf eat like 2 pigs (i usu eat like a pig) coz i tot more food will help supply. Wah really sweated blood n tears leh. I hope i can get a miracle with no 2.. Gog thru this again is traumatising

Sam sometimes acts like he hates me! Super hurt leh. I keep thinking issit coz i 'abandoned' him to pump all the time. Sigh

Hmm.... that time i checked with my gynae about all this fenugreek etc which is said to up supply, he said it's not true. it's jus hear-say kind of thing like old wives' tales. they dun help to up supply.

I also tried all the FM brands in the market and my boy finally settled on Mamil Gold.
they wont like it on the first attempt one... so I started by using full strength milk to mix his cereals (instead of just putting in 1 scoop)
and dont waste $ to buy first lah... I just go to my PD and buay paisay ask for alot of samples!
 
aiyo..tot we all by now will be stopping bf already..our babies are 15m+....so mostly stop yet??
how come all the talk abt it again..haha.....
ya agree, quite a nightmare with pumping..think latching helps with bonding n increase in supply much easier...but then also tiring., but at least not stuck to pump, stuck to baby instead..keke....i finally stopped...what a relief..but of cos milk powder fees going up....baby finishes the normal tin in half the usual time.
