hi mummies!

Re: nourishing baby's lungs
Any recipe for the porridge? I wanna cook some for J this weekend cos he caught a cough & is having runny nose :S

Michelle,

Having garlic in the porridge not only improve the fragance but also will help boost the immunity =)
I put some garlic in Nat's porridge when Im having flu, hoping she will be immunity against it..heehee

Smurfy. I visited the Character Montessori at Pasir Ris. The place is very big and it's very near to the park. Every Friday, the teachers will bring the kids to the park. The teaching stresses on character building and the teachers (2 of them I met) are experienced and responsible. So far, this school gives me the best impression (except the bathroom/restroom a bit old) and the school fee is at the high side, $1100 plus for full time before deduction. I notice another school, MMI just beside CM. Will be paying them a visit next week.

Hi Mummies,

We have a new date for baby PhotoShoot 19 Sep 10 (Sun) for those who had missed it previously.
Timing as per follow :
11am / 12.30pm / 3.30pm / 5.00pm

let me know so I can reserve it for you.

Thanks

i went to buy the nan xing and bei xing during lunch.. alamak look exactly the same leh!

the lady told me one teaspoon of both and some chuan bei (but this i didnt buy..... so expensive) and double boil with one bowl of water for at least one hour..

i am thinking of going for the nightwalk also. we did the newpaper walk and it was great bonding.

eh gals, i got a big problem now. it seems that all the childcare/playgroup wihtin walking distance is fully booked. some are registering 2012 now. in yr shoes, what would you suggest?
1) find one further away (within 1 or 2 mrt stops)
2) not enrol in playgroup/childcare (don't do anything)
3) not enrol in playgroup/childcare but enrol those branded ones that does 1-2 times a week e.g. JG, shichida etc
4) hire a maid & homeschool

babymaking
our bubs can only start childcare/playgroup around Feb2011, so maybe can ask to be on waitlist for the nearer ones for the time being?

babymaking,

If the class is everyday, i'd probably go for the nearest school. Cos to me, transport might be a problem if dun drive.

If it's only once or twice a week, and money is not an issue, i'd enrol in the so called branded school

regg
yes, ard sembawang, all the playgroup/childcare within sembawang mrt walking distance is full up to dec 2011. they are only accepting registration for jan 2012.

kiki
no point to be on the waiting list, the places i called said places are already taken up and paid for.

pegsfur
that's my concern also, if everyday got to go school/childcare and dun drive, it's going to be tough esp on raining days. i'm still trying to convince myself that it's worth it to spend xx amt on branded schools.

babys

Yes u are right for the pear... nan xing and bei xing looks the same. As for the chuan bei, they do have different range. Some is cheaper..

dolce

They only have 1 outlet shop at IMM. They do have normal shop at Vivo and Tanglin Mall.

take school bus !!! my #1 takes school bus everyday. morning daddy sends him to sch (n chitchat with teachers n his lil classmates). afternoon he takes school bus to my mum's place.

wow..mummies already started finding playgroups for your child? Anyone staying around bedok central area? Can recommend any good ones? Thinking of enrolling my gal when we go back sg next yr...usual sch term start every half yearly or quarterly?

dear mummies, sorry to interrude, im lookin for ergo/manduca carrier for my sil, pls PM me if u are sellin one. tks!

Babymaking,
What is the meaning of Registering 2012 now? It means baby can start playgroup at 18mth right? So far those schools I visited no waiting list. I drive but I still prefer nearby schools. Sometimes can just walk with my girl home or if emergency, can ask my helper or MIL to take her home. Raining is fun, can let baby wear beautiful raincoat n walk walk in the rain.

deebee
I'm giving scrambled whole egg to my boy as he dont have any history of allergy.
Just make sure its well cooked (i.e. not runny or wet)

kikilala,
thks! so far i only tried mixing in hard boiled egg yolk into porridge.
really getting sian abt the same stuff i cook for my gal over n over again..

kikilala,
i'm interested to go for the nightwalk!
can take the opportunity to see the area..we've never been there since the helix bridge and casino opened. and it's at night so not very hot.
only concern is may reach home beyond bedtime..

deebee
I tried adding hard boiled egg but my boy dont like the texture, seems like the egg white is too hard for him so he spit out.
sad.gif

Deebee: u can crack the egg straight into the porridge to cook too. Saves u one step too, no need to hard boil first

Dolce> ya, i have been thinking whether i can add garlic into J's stock.

kikilala> wow, this recipe website is gd! thanks! there are soo many recipes inside!

think i'll try some of these recipes this weekend and will add some garlic in too! hehe...

Hi mummies..

U family is looking at forming an parent interest grp.. Serene(u family) tot that since we have been quite active w their activities and we r quite close acquaintances, hence proposed if I could get a sense of interest level among us first..

If u dun mind, can we invite her n her colleagues to our bash next sat n get her to clarify any doubts we hav abt e Interest grp..

I have oso ask abt e required commitments, waiting for her reply on this..

Email fr serene:

Actually we are looking into forming a Parents interest group or ambassadors of sort for U Family and we think your group is apt for a gd start off point. How often do you all meet for gatherings with your babies and what usually takes place? Do you have a few mummies/daddies acting as leaders and organising activities for the group?

If we can make this into a U Family interest group and move along this direction, we would have a better reason to be sponsoring the baby bags for your bash. We are even willing to look into doing more for this group.

kikiala,

the night walk sounds interesting!

i am thinking of going for the nightwalk also. we did the newpaper walk and it was great bonding.

babymaking,
i also have the same questions on my mind but not becos the playgroup wihtin walking distance is fully booked but becos the teachers there seem blur when i asked them questions. so i wonder if i shd put my son there since i really doubt their qualifications & teaching skills. if i were to enrol there, it's purely becos of convenience. jus under my blk.

Now i have the following options similar to yours
1) find one further away
2) not enrol in playgroup
3) enrol in those 1-2 times a week
(the MMI which I enquired said one parent to sit in. my hb joked good, asked my mum to join in with my son & both learn together. haha! but seriously, i think i may have to adjust my work schedule if i were to bring him there & attend class together twice a week. which means lesser income for me.

joyful,
wah, the aug mummies becomes U Family ambassadors? haha! but sounds interesting. it's nice to be the pioneer batch of something.

yeah, i tried asking around for playgroup - i think playgroup (not part of chilldcare type) teachers/in charge tend to be less professional the one i called didn't even know what acitivites are in the 2 hr session.

eh, frankly i am looking for one that doesn't require parent to sit in, that defeats my purpose of looking for playgroup, cos my boy is more mischevious when i am around.

mashy
i would prefer to put zac in a structured program - cos he love routine, and he will benefit from the interaction and learn faster.

hi babymaking,
can i suggest something:
you can look for a halfday childcare and send your son for lessons only. You can have breakfast at home then bring him to school for 2-3 hours of play, then bring him back for lunch, say 8.30 - 11.30.
After $150 subsidy, probably around $400-500 ?

Babymaking

u wanna try looking for 2-3hr prog first? Frankly I find that they dun need to sleep in the centre at this age. When my boy was 2, I sent him to kinderland 3 hr daily prog. It's structured with outdoor play, dun need parent ard and it's considered as flexi childcare so can claim a little bit of subsidy. He went to the one at yio chu kang. Maybe u try asking around? I understand that my sil also sends my nephew to a montesorri flexi prog.

i'm also keen!

babymaking, agree with joeey - sign up for half day, then u can bring him back when you want. Or leave him for half day, and u have some time to do your stuff.
