(2009/08) August 2009 MTBs

piggy: I sent a email to their general email. Sent them an email cos their site doesnt state age criteria.

Shayna will be 2.5 in jan 2012, so maybe their playgroup only caters to that age?

piggy,

for one adult lah. where got so cheap?! if for 3 of us, without thinkin i fly there straightaway. haha!

There's another promo by CTC. 4 days 3 nites or 5 days 4 nites. only $1000+ air tix + accomodation. but fly by delta (previous northwest) i fly by northwest before. not bad also. but of cos i'd still prefer to fly by SQ. haha!

Donkeymami,

is your $2100 including accomodation or only air-tixs? you're flying by SQ rite? Still cheap leh. Cos i check the $1700-2100 is for per pax by SQ.

i also want to go hokkaido!!! i prefer to go during winter but seriously dunno if ethan can stand the old weather. aiyo! i love japan!!! i love the culture, the cleanliness, the food!!! though i dun take raw food, there's still so much nice things to eat! and their macdonald's also nicer! haha!

Hi gals

haha, I'm also going japan end oct till early nov. But instead of travelling to osaka, we are going up north to aomori coz the jr east pass is so cheap. Only 10k yen for 3 days flexi. We very cheapo, paid 2k for the airtickets by Cathay for 4 of us. Gotta stop over at hk but never mind, who tell them to be so cheap. I've more or less confirmed my itinerary. Going to pluck apples from apple trees, see autumn leaves and the stream at towada, visiting the railway museum, going to feed sea gulls, see robots and a parade.

fully packed. Of course going Disneyland too. At first still thinking go disneysea or land. But my boy is more familiar with the characters in Disneyland, so will prob go there.

So excited!

mashy,

if we're going, we're also going end oct! how much is the tix per pax for adult by cathay? u book direct or thru agency? i still comparing prices. we've to be there on the 30th. but sq's promo starts on the 31st.

Wow so many mummies going to Japan... I also wana go but can't right now cos of new job... Haiz... Need to wait till next year than can travel. But we planning to go Taiwan (Taipei & Kaoshung) with FIL in Feb.

Any gd hotel to recommend?

piggy,

tat time when i was in states, i was also preggy with ethan but i din know. i took all the exciting rides & climbing up & down & jumping off the rocks at grand canyon. haha! when i came back, thot how come i jet-lagged so long, kept feeling sleepy. still go running & racing with hb at reservoir. haha! heng, ethan was strong. or else, i can't imagine....

Zen

it's 580 per pax incl taxes. U can stopover in hk if u want. I tried booking directly with their website but it kept giving me error message and u couldn't book infant tix directly. So end up I booked with zuji which is abt same price and I could book infant tix. U can also call cathay during office hrs to book. Promo is with DBS cards till 31 aug. Osaka tix are very limited already. Even Tokyo ones not much left. U try and ask lor. Travel period is till 15 nov (depart).

Zen

I love japan too. This will be my 4th time there and my boy's 2nd time there. But first time going up north. That's why this time we are not hanging around Tokyo much. First time my boy went, he was 2 yrs old. We find too young to appreciate Disney, so we skipped that. There is a free children hall in shibuya that u can bring your kid to. Got playground for crawlers, early walkers. It's a great place to go for children. It's called Tokyo metropolitan children's hall.

Zen,
hahah i also go for joggin when i had Kyler lol~~ i tink if this child is meant to be urs it will be:p if not even u do nothin u goin to lose it also:p

Mashy
I booked thru Zuji also... but the infant tics not cheap leh. I paid $500+ for kiiron's fare to Taipei!
Also though I asked for child's meal, zuji never booked for me that.

Zen

Tokyo in early nov not cold unless u travel outskirts. Just need shirt, sweater and jacket. There was even a day there that I wore just a short sleeve t shirt in the afternoon coz it's so hot. And that's mid nov. But then the weather fluctuates from place to place. Yokohama was freezing then. But they already had their Christmas lights on. Very pretty.

mashy,

thanks! the cathay tix is very reasonable! i dun mind stopping over at HK & spend 2 days there! i suaku never been to HK. my hb also laugh at me.
sad.gif
i've only been to tokyo & hakone. love it so much!!! my hb been to japan many times & he still loves it!
happy.gif

yah... I found out that I was preggie half way thru my business trip in India! and got to go to japan at 7 weeks alone and push my 20kg lugguage thru the subway.

That's when I realised Japan's subway not so lugguage/stroller friendly leh and lifting is not an option then. At one point I was so fed-up that I almost want to push my lugguage so it can roll down the stairs

hee... i was in china when i was just pregnant with shayna. And part of the itenary is a foot massage at the olympic village by the pple who did foot reflexology for the atheletes... heng they advise me not to do anything, not even to soak feet if i am not sure... heng i never do also..

piggytoh./mashy
err yah.. pretty cold weather still, right. i was in japan and korea this apri (work not play). tot i saw the sakura/cherry blossoms in korea not japan. but during this period the flowers are most beautiful leh.

kikilala,

i agree with the subway thing. i realised there're so many stairs. i asked my hb then that how all those old people managed with the many flights of stairs. hb said thats y their old folks are healthier cos they exercise. haha!

Zen,yes i fly by SQ 2.1k oli airfares.

Mashy, me too vy excited

Sweetmama, i will bring cereals, biscuits then will let her eat adult food like ramen or rice bah...will chk out their supermarket for baby food when we reach there.

kikilala
hahaha i was oso ard 7wks preggie with #1 when i was in japan. yah i hate the subways..one of the worst things in japan.. taking subwawys and changing lines with ur luaggages. :p..i love sg for the fact that we can easily flag down or call a taxi.

arghh! all these talks abt japan make me feel like going there straight away!!! i was telling hb last week tat we shd jus cancel our japan trip and go stay hotel at sentosa!

Donkeymani

I'm also feeding my gal whatever food we're eating. Big gal already. Can eat outside food. Dun always baby food. She's already eating outside food with us when we go out. I'm glad she likes to eat. My boy is a total nightmare when it comes to food. So we are not restricting her diet like we did with my boy. I'm thinking whether to let her try sushi or not. Hmmm.

Kiki,

heng my boy treated me very well throughout the preggie stage... especially so since I living alone in Beijing until week 30.
No MS, no cramps, no midnight cravings.
I only have MS twice and so happen when my hb was around, so I kind of painted the picture that I was suffering. kekeke!

donkeymani

just to show u what is there at the Tokyo Metropolitan Children's Hall.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/alwinwoo/2070291459/in/photostream/

They've a music room there, so your gal can go and try all the instruments too. We also took part in a sing a long session with the local babies. And yes, it's all in Japanese.

Reg food, chances are they may not even eat and will sleep more. Somehow when they travel, they eat lesser. And in cold weather, so will sleep more. Dun ask me why, it just happens. But of course, try to feed bb more frequently.

Hope to see u at the Tokyo Jidai Matsuri.

babys

it won't be easy to find. Even diapers are difficult to find. Apparently, they hide them in the pharmacies and u have to ask them for it. C'mon, how many of us are fluent in Japanese? So, better bring everything there.

Donkeymami,
oh the meiji in Jap is dirt cheap also... i bott 1 whole luggage of food back haha.. n the airport they sell ramen(real ramen with flour coated with soup pack in box) if u like ramen mus buy keke..

Kiki,
u were v lucky i had mild MS i alr feel v sick haha...

donkeymani

if you're anywhere near any of the branches of 'nishimatsuya', u may wanna go pay a visit. I heard they sell very cheap children's stuff (esp clothes) there. It's usually located in some ulu outskirts lah. So just in case there's any shop near where you're staying. I found one at Hachinohe near a train station which was pretty nearby, so i'll go take a look. I tried looking for it during my last trip but couldn't find it.

smurfy

piggy

envy.. u all planned or planning trips with bbs..... i duno if we will be able to handle the girls overseas manz!!! -.-"
duno when will be their first trip out of singapore.... lala~

fat bobo

haha, sometimes have to just do it. I also dunno if i can handle 2 kids along with the luggage and moving from city to city every 2 days or not. We'll know after that if we survive the trip. :p

Maybe go somewhere nearby first, like Bintan/batam.

We did a few trial runs with our kids and taking public transport to see if we can handle it for the whole day. We survived.

fatbobo
ur two kids same age leh.. maybe u just try hotel staycation then venture further lar. one step at a time.. anyway so many more years ahead right? and i think u made a good move for the time being.. that is bring ur #3 and #4 to bunk in w u
happy.gif

the first time i brought my #1 to malaysia, cameron. i activated my whole family..

family trip and them oso to look after my #1.. and even brought along the maid kekekeeke.. then again, we were those kua zhang ppl lar.. #1 oredi 1.5yrs old. we still brought along slow cooker, veges n such.

smurfy

haha, i different from u. hehe. so far we've not travelled with extended family. only us and our kiddo. What we did is when we reach a country, we just 'camp' at 1 hotel only. Then we'll travel out of the hotel everyday. Even when the first time we travelled to Bangkok when my boy was 1yr old, we relied mainly on jar food and cereals.

We ever thought of booking tour packages so that we don't have to worry abt lugging the stuff. But we are the type who don't like tour packages, so till now, still can't make up our mind to sign up for it. Even when there was a very good offer, just $3400 for 4 of us to Korea. We also didn't take that up.

hehe.. yup.. thanks...... rite mashy & smurfy.. prolly i can try out local staycation.. den to sentosa.. den to bintan or batam or anywhr nearby..... n.. yippy!!!! hahahahhahahahahahahaa~

oh.. but then.. juz i hfta survive the 3rd/4th party bunk-in-camp... n then ya.. all these shld happen before any 5th or 6th party arrive!!! LOL~
