(2009/07) July 2009 MTBs

linsu, sometimes i will pacify my boy by offering him melts/puff to eat or let him play with tissue/wets.

he loves to read/play with books so occassionally i will read to distract him & at same time change him.

Linsu,
I also use a Combi Miracle Turn and yes, the maximum upright position is not v comfortable looking. Also my boy's feet dangle off the edge. I'm shopping around to buy a new stroller this GSS.

Diaper change tantrums:
When I change his diaper, I always try to have something nearby to occupy his hands. The worst times are when I'm trying to wipe up poo and he insists on flipping over! He hates his diaper changes.

twinkle & sunnyduck
yes.. sometimes let her play with something works.. maybe they're just too bored & can't stay still now that they like to explore more.. hope she'll change when she's old enough to understand..

HBB
oya! I bought millet last wk & added 2tbsp to stacia's porridge (cook together) for dinner.. the next morning, LS! hehehe.. was it too much? what's your comparison again?

re: mee sua
I cooked mee sua for her yesterday.. she loves it so much! kept making noise for more spoons while teteh busy scooping for the next.. just like the way she demanded for more yoghurt.. mee sua very easy for them to swallow also..

linsu
if it's just diaper time, then it's just a phase they will grow out very soon. amanda was like a few mths ago. i just let her cry n explain she has to wait while i change. now she's ok le. at this age, they can understand so much more. n also at this age, they r starting to express their feelings more. so u definitely can expect more such tantrums :p just be consistent to be firm when they do something wrong.

twinkle
thks for the link. i need to stock up her cereals yet so lazy to go n search for bps.

Experienced mommies know best huh?!

ok thanks all.
Pinky xu, I think i'll buy from bp since cheaper and there's delivery. I'll ask the bp organizer if postage no changes if I buy more so that u can collect from my mum's place at hougang.

linsu
ehh shldnt ls one leh...millet is like rice replacement.edna take millet+brownrice+white rice together sometimes....

btw u say ls...is poo many times?or jus once but mashy poo? cos if once ..is nt consider ls.it could b jus mashy poo. cos edna she tk brown rice she will have firmer poo.if no tk she get mashy one

linsu
haha... dun like that say lah.
experienced with amanda but inexperienced with ethan. he's giving me hell of a headache everyday! my blood pressure goes up every evening after i bring him home. i also need someone to share how to deal with him. hope girls are different and won't be like him. boys are really boys! headache! (ooopss.. i'm refering to my boy not everyone's)

bbethan
nope.. stacia always poo when teteh wanna chg her diaper & clean/wipe her.. but maybe diff case cos' I think she hardly poo while sleeping (not that I could recall)..

linsu
now her bottom is lobster red cos she has been pooing in her sleep recently. yesterday i didnt know abt this. she fussed n was clingy when we were going out for dinner. i got fed up n hold her up n scolded her. after that during dinner time, she cried non stop until i carry her n she fell asleep. woke up crying very hard again. when carry her,she clinged on to me very very hard n keep whining/crying. never like this before... i thought she got frightened cos of the scolding episode earlier. when i reached home, then i realised she got poo in her diaper. her skin were all red n she grabbed me very hard when i try to wash her bottom with water. Oh mine! i don't know since when was that poo in her diaper. n that explains why she kept crying and hold so hard to me when i carry her. the thing i dun understand is why is she pooing in her sleep recently? she used to poo only once or twice a day usually when having her meals. i feel really bad that i didnt check her diapers earlier. her bottom gets sensitive really very easily.

bbethan, *waved*

mine mine! my boy poo many times a day. average 5-6x a day or more. midnight also wont spare me since newborn time. For instance 11pm once. 3-5am once. 7am once. (*faint*) N he dont poo abit but ALOT ALOT kind.

Cos he poo so much in a day that sometimes my babysitter not sensitive enough to detect. ended up his butt was so red & skin even peel off & bleed. He screamed each time i bathe or wash his butt. *poor boy*

I will try to air his butt as much as i can when home & play with him at playmat. well at least is waterproof. easier for me to clean when he pee or poo without "prior notice". Will let him wear diaper cloth over weekend when i'm busy with housework. N it really help.

So next time you see a human panda, definately is me the twinkle star. hehehe.

bbethan
ohhh poor amanda.. quickly use Desitin (the creamier version) on her first for these few days.. do u change something in her eating pattern or add something new lately? maybe u might want to recall?

I'm so free today despite it's Mon! Just updated my Food Chart. For mommies who use my earlier table, could refer to this one instead..

twinkle
u still look very good the last time i saw you!
but poor boy! bleeding... *ouch* n he really pooed a lot despite u saying he doesn't drink/eat a lot.

linsu
haha... the effect of long weekend?
yup...i slapped on the cream immediately last night before she goes to sleep.
thinking back... it's really drama at the supermarket last evening.
crying baby clinging on like koala bear in the supermarket... playful brother attempting to push the empty stroller n end up toppling it. got scared both by the toppled stroller n our angry stares. and guess what...for that moment, he forgot he got no diapers on and wet his pants... and he just froze there... LOL

was really angry n fedup... but now thinking back, it's kinda funny.

bbethan
hahahhaha.. very drama indeed! sometimes to relieve stress is just to laugh at it hehehe.. well, since nothing could be done & beyond control sometimes.. btw, u must be very 'free' too today huh?!

bbethan, last time i still a SAHM wor.

my boy grows up le. now he eats alot. i'm going to broke very soon. cereals he can eat 8-10 soup spoon scoops + 8-10 soup spoon puree each feeding. porridge he can eat 1.5 adult rice bowl size.

my FC was joking 'thats why you have to come back to workforce to earn $ to support all his food'. @_@

by the way what's amanda's last weight? my boy hitting 8kg. yeah!

twinkle
wow... that's good!
amanda's only 7kg! and that she was just weighed last week when my hb brought her to see the GP for her swollen eyelid. i sort of dun believe it when he told me... hehe.

twinkle: after looking at what u're feeding ur boy, i'm starting to wonder if i'm underfeeding my boy.
sad.gif
i give him abt 5 spoonfuls of cereal with 2 cubes of fruit puree and he often cries when he finishes. but usually he'll stop when i distract him. his weight is still hovering around the 7kg mark.

also wondering if other july mummies give ur babies minced pork and other meat? if so, do u puree the meat?

Cj

sounds like your kid is not eating enough. Each has diff req but since he cries after meal, likely he's not full. U should increase the amt. My gal has started taking pork beef fish scallop. The minced pork is twice minced and I cut beef into small pcs.

Should give coarser food already. No need purée everything.

Twinkle
great to hear tt your bb is eating so much now. My gal is about 7.6kg now. Also prefers to eat solids.

CJ,
I will minced the pork/chicken as my boy has 2 lower front teeth and 2 upper growing. In order to help him develop his chewing skills I do not puree the food anymore.

My boy also prefer to eat solids and has reduced milk intake.

CJ ya me mince chicken n juz add to porriadge.. He has 2 lower n 4 upper teeth so he tries to chew them before eating too.. But he has kinda stopped eating cereals already! Dunno why but refuses to eat each time I try..

Any other babies llike that too?

My boy only has two bottom teeth. Chewing depends on his mood... sometimes he can chew quite large pieces like pasta, biscuits, etc. But in his porridge if he decides he doesn't want any 'bits', he will keep spitting all his porridge out.

Blessed, yes my boy too. Don't like cereal anymore. I've decided to stop giving cereal after he finished whatever left in the house.

He is showing interest in our adult food like fried rice, steam soya fish, guotiao etc. Is it because those are much more tasty or he simply like to eat what we eat? I hope I don't have to eat his porridge to lure him into eating his
sad.gif

Also, I have problem with giving him mango. He vomitted almost all the mango on 2 separate occasions. Weird... Anyone knows why?

Blessed

same. My gal doesn't like cereal or if the porridge is too smooth. Today fed her beef pepper rice from pepper lunch and she ate it up.

Peanut/mashy,

ya agree.. He likes wat we r eating, from pizzas to even ice cream!! Haha somtimes I juz let him taste abit of evrything : )

Peanut,

Mangoes? Hmm so far have not tried giving him yet.. If he does not like then juz skip it for the moment..does he have any other fav fruits?

Twinkle,
wah... ur boy already hitting 8kg le... Mine still stuck at 7 range, 2 weeks back she weighs only 7.4kg... But now should be heavier coz she recovered from viral infection le... but still long way to 8kg and still using M size diapers... aiyo... now left amanda & Gen in 7 range...

Linsu,
I'm using the Combi Urban Walker... Same as u, we felt the combi stroller not really in upright position even thou adjusted to the max... thats y u seldom see me with the stroller coz she refuses to sit in it and looking at other ppl's butt at that position/level, so the poor daddy gonna carry her most of the time...

Re: Teeth & food
Gen is still bogek (toothless) but she's been eating our food for months... most of the time eating fried rice, noodles and all sort of adult food... whatever we eat, she eats too, on top of her milk and porridge... like a preggy diet, eat & eat... but still she's as light as feather... i also wonder where the food/milk goes to...

Mummies, thanks for sharing.
happy.gif
Think I'll start my boy on minced pork and chicken then. He already has 7 teeth but he finishes each mouthful so fast that I wonder if he even chews his food!

Mashy: Yup have started giving him more cereal. ;) Wouldn't beef be too tough though?

Sunnyduck, Candy, blessed09: Which part of the chicken do u use?

blessed09: My boy still likes cereal, though he loves porridge more I think heh.

Pe@nut
Your little one vomitting mango reminded me of a colleague who's allergic to mangoes, she would break out in red, angry rashes all over whenever she take any. I didn't know and bought her a mango cake to celebrate her birthday in the office. In the end, everyone but the birthday girl ate a slice of the birthday cake...perhaps can check with the PD the next time you visit him/her?

Peanut: I didn't know people can be allergic to mangoes but from what jerene said, ur boy could have had an allergic reaction to mango, cos vomitting is one of the symptoms of allergic reaction. I agree that u shd check with the PD. In the meantime, I think it's best to avoid giving him the fruit. I've given my boy mango before, and he has no prob with it.

Never came across my mind that it could be allergy, all of u just reminded me. Big THANKS! His daddy is allergic to many things, mostly fruits and nuts. I'm lucky that he only vomitted and not like his daddy allergy reaction of asthma.

Ha, I shall not force him with mango (because I like).

Cj's toybox, I use chicken breast meat for bb porridge, although I'm very tempted to use chicken drumstick. Haha, nicer lah.

good morning all...
nice weather. eating amanda's birthday cake for breakfast now n cannot help thinking back all the events that happened today. still so fresh in memory.

peanut
i hv mild allergic reaction to mangoes too.depending on hw 'ripe' is e mango. n i agree tat they r too young to tk mangoes! even tomaytoes n strawberries..i haven started edna on it.plan to do it aft she turn 1

bbethan, don't scare me le...I also still remember how painfull it was after the GA was off. I swear I don't want to go through GA again. this time has to be epidural!

teeth:
Naomi now have 2 bottom and 2 at the top. I can see there are another 4 spurting out at the TOP, not at the bottom. how come the top ones come out first? and 4 teeth in one time?

Hmmm..comes to wednesday is the playdate time for the kor kor. but usually she will tag along. today we will go art museum. is the place stroller friendly?
Oh ya, last week we went to Science Centre and play the waterplay, since the ground is padded, she was happily walk and playing the water feature. quite fun!

Dino-mum, your lil Dino has your gene mah...always skinny no matter what you eat. Nigel really fall head over heel on her lei...he kept asking me the other day when he can see lil Dino again. He used to say that Naomi is the cutest and the prettiest, but last sat he said lil Gen is the cutest and prettiest.
