(2009/07) July 2009 MTBs

Hey Sam,

You are v strong - when I see what's in your bag, it's like Fwah! But now taht our bbies are 10 mths, gosh - they def are getting heavier!

Great - share tips with me. We are planning two trips and one is long haul - ugh.

I'll find out the name of the seat I have and let you know. Mine is something that you can strap onto a chair with a back. The seat is slightly raised, but not enough for bb to be at our eye level. There is a "harness" that you can attach to the seat of the adult chair and to the back as well. Then, there is a shoulder strap for bb as well. I think I have a pic of it in a video on my FB. I'll PM you the link.

Beverly,
Mine looks a little bit like that! But not as chic, but still can use, plus my friend lent it to me. It looks really cool though. How much is it? :p

Oh yeah, I have seen those that can hang on table and asked about it last time. I think Jillian has one, but I'm so worried it'll fall off, plus bb may stretch/bend his back and then - ker-plunk and we are off to the hospital.

Jillian - are you rolling your eyes at me? LOL!

As is, every day I have to say, "Sit properly" after a while because he wants to put one leg up. or stand up or....arghs. Thank goodness he understands "Sit properly" (now) and also bec he loves food, so no sitting properly, no food.

OMGI when I saw the video, I thought - so cool, can consider...until I saw the price!!!! Can faint!

How much is it in the BP? Maybe if a few are interested, you can bargain for a better price?

I think that it's obviously a very ang moh product - NO hot water in the demo for the milk, just an insulated section for one milk bottle only. LOL!

I think that it looks a bit small. Do you have dimensions inside? Changing mat also not included and if yours is a bit padded (my Mothercare one is), then can it still fit, or do you need the flat kind?

If you can afford it, why not? If you are hesitating, then I think you might need to ask yourself:

OK, do you travel out of Singapore a lot? Because you CAN find high chairs in almost every part of Singapore. Even some coffee shops have high chairs. You may need to wipe those a BIT more thoroughly with the wet wipes, but you can still find them.

Do you often go to places without high chairs - e.g. visiting people in their homes a lot?

Chiyojade: LOL, Max is the master of escaping from highchairs. He is a real nightmare, even when strapped in, somehow he manages to wiggle out of the straps. The clip on chair that we use is great cos it has shoulder straps which you can adjust. He can't wiggle out of that and Ally still uses it till now. The maximum weight that it can hold is 16kg.
It wasn't cheap but we've gotten a lot of use out of it especially when traveling.

ChiyoJade,
huh....I nvr ask myself all this questions leh....ok, a very impulsive buyer here....kekeke....maybe that's why my hb stopped me from buying...LOL
I dunno the dimensions as well but I have a few changing mat (not padded type) n seldom put hot water in diaper bag so should be ok....I'm hesitating becoz of the price -_-

Beverly, looks cool, at least the cost is shared between your twins, not that bad.

Chiyojade, lol yar, the ka-plunk part is scary. k, I'm so going to check out the local prices here. btw, when you travel, please hold on tight to the baby, or keep the baby close, strapped in. The friend in Macau, told us of a few cases of baby snatching across the borders, and the culprits demand like $10k to send the baby back when the baby got taken in a shopping centre. They even shaved the hair to make the child easily unrecognizable.

sam

Lina - long haul - not brave - we have to do it. Family duty.My in-laws haven't seen the baby except for one of my SILs.
PM me your email addy and I'll add you on FB.

Sam: that sounds scary, and I find that moms in SG tend to take safety for granted. Yesterday we were at the park with the children and saw a little girl around 18 months all by herself. There were very few people around and no one seemed to be with her. I asked her where her mother was but she couldn't tell me but I did recall seeing her playing in the sand by the playground. Anyway, sent dh to go look for the mom while I picked her up and walked towards the playground area. DH found the mom chatting away to her friend, she didn't even know her daughter was missing. I could have walked off with the child and she wouldn't have known! Or worse, the kid could have walked into the car park which was just a few meters from where we found her. The mother acted like nothing was wrong, she asked me " what's the problem?" I was so upset with the mom, I said to her, we found your daughter all by herself and she was starting to cry. Can't believe she didn't think that it was a big problem to let a toddler go off on her own.

jillian
u're v calm & composed. goodness gracious. that was too diplomatic an answer for an irresponsible mum.

chiyojade,

Jillian

There are pp like that who take safety for granted until they lose their kids. remember the gal who drowned in the Rasa Sentosa Pool? Well, we can never be too careful. U could have just taken the little gal to the police post. :p Will definitely scare her when she can't find her gal.

FOZ: did you have fun at the Kid's Run? I saw you very briefly but couldnt stop to say Hi cos I was chasing after Ally and it was so crowded. Both the kids had fun, Max knocked out while waiting for Ally to finish her event.

lina
finally! hahahaa
i try to search for u for days but cant find n din come in to ask u bout it hehe...
finaly my weekend ended!!!!

re: food when travelling w baby
ok another method i can suggest is buy those instant bb food like wakudo or pigeon brand from taka, isetan or kiddy palace
then bring the travel cooker along and some rice.
cook porridge then mix in the instant food. that way u dun need to buy vege or meat along! i just tot of that cos my sis use to do that
and today i was out w edna since 6.30am! no time to cook her lunch so she ate up 1 box of wakudo instant food (and still not enuff)
wah i will go pok manz.. its like $8+ per box leh... then my sis told mi bout the mix w porridge idea! my nxt trip will be a breeze!! YAY

hbb, in absolute figures, can share how heavy is the travel cooker? really hv 2 learn 2 travel light, save the strength to carry bb. my mum peeked at bon's diaper bag yday, say, what the hell, bring so much things OUT for F?! didn't use waste effort waste strength to carry, DUH! LOL i repeated in a soft soft voice, dunno when nid 2 use mah ... hahaha

mummies, infant 1st aid course, i regd liao, gg in june. after that, i'll go 4 d adult one. wei, got diff or not? when it comes to help save lives, between bbs & adults, hmmm. adult's life worthless, baby's life priceless? haha

lina,

you not taking to yourself lah... i am here mah
happy.gif

Good morning to you and other mummies.

hbb,
please add me on the fb, k

pinky i added u le..

lina i go weigh e cooker later n tell u hw heavy... nwadays i downsize my diaper bag.i took away e diaper organiser!and it help me reduce 1 bag size of e longchamp bag!seems like e organiser is the main bulky thgy! my diapers n half a tube of diaper cream is usualy in a transparent clear bag.w half a pack of wet wipes.usualy i will use a brand new pack @ hm then hn nearly half use i transfer to bag so lighter to bring out.... w a box of biscuits n a mug of water for edna... another bag is for her feedin bowls, milk bottle, thermal flask.... im trying to minimise e weight aso..bt jillian will def disagree w me..cos he always see me w alot of thg whnn i go out hahhaa

HBB,
Maybe you can try take a few pieces of wet wipes in a ziplock instead of take half a pack out? That's what my aunt does when she goes out with MR. But then, she doesn't go out with MR for long and as frequent as you =p

bbethan, sunsweet and other mummies of more than 1 & no helpers,
Really gotta salute you all. Urg. MR going through her crazy teething sleep pattern (= no sleep for parents). I sleep with her only 4 nights a week and I'm going bonkers trying to preserve my sanity and keeping my grey matters work at work . I have no idea how you guys get through the day. (kneel down and kowtow to you all)

It's crap trying to do math & programming & not make mistakes when your brain is sleep deprieved =( Defnitely not a good monday

HBB,
oh, i overlooked that. Your new comp easy to use? Tried using mac before, but so used to windows that I went into panick mode when I got all lost in Mac, don't know where all my usual shortcut keys and folders were

lamagier no lar.i more fussy =p hahahaaa certain thg i can let go but certaint hg not.. i scare wait she itch thr and duno hw to say cry cry cry i mati manz..

mac not here yet! no stock
i also worry i duno hw to use but the helpful sales said i alwasy can go bk n ask them and he did demo to mi hw to use the editing feature
hubby also say its easy ... since he wan buy for mi (since like 2 yrs ago?) so i jus buy hahaaaa
hope it comes by thurs then i can play w it over LWE!!!

HBB,
I wish the husband would also buy me a Mac to play too =p In addition to a Panasonic LX3 or Canon G11... Underwater housing... 85mm lens... Or just letting me buy a 18mm playmat (I want to fill up the area in front of TV with playmat. He thinks it's a waste of money ssince Minrui will prop be running all over the house). haha, I have a very long wish list.

2 of my colleagues gave birth last week. Seems like it was a lifetime ago since we were all wondering who was going to give birth first

lamagier
aiyo... dun say like that lah. prob it's just becos u r not used to it and MR is going thru one of those passing-by phases. trust me... things get better after they turn 1. do understand how you feel. i get the "stare at pc whole day" state once in a while too. work for me is probably a break fr the kids. imagine those sahm here who hv to face the kids 24/7. they are even greater!

i do miss those chat we had earlier on before we gave birth. nowadays so quiet.

hbb
haha.. i lagi best. i dont carry thermal flask or feeding bowls. nowadays, nursing room comes with hot water. i always go to those with hot water dispenser to get my hot water. if not, MacDonald's! so i just bring FM n a bottle with some room temp water already in it. i feed directly from the food jar. if use thermal flask, just use the cap as bowl n wash up after that. sometimes i even forget the spoon. LOL...

winnie
we hv only got the accident & health plan for my 2 kids to cover their hospitalisation bills. prob in a couple of yrs later, then we will start to buy endowment plans for their education n savings.

winnie
ya... that's the 3 pillars... if budget allows, definitely good to buy all now cos it's the cheapest before they turn one yr old.

winnie,
me & the husband go the NTUC revo life insurance. So MR gets free rider insurance till she's 18. Actually, I'm always very blur when it comes to these things. Need to go read up again to refresh my memory on what my insurance covers =p

bbethan,
yah, most of the time I'm pretty glad to be a working mum. Get financial independence and some breathing space, and I'll be extra loving to MR to make up for the days she's away from me.
Cross my fingers and hope this difficult phase pass soon =(
Haha, I think I'm the worst. last sat forgot to prepare lunch for MR so I just latch. Too lazy to go pump out

winnie, me bought the life insurance for my girl.
cos i think education can save on my own for her. then for hospital plan can use our medisave, is it correct?

hbb/food expert, if i cook pasta sauce in the morning at 8am, cool it already then i put inside normal fridge then warm it up at 5.30pm for mia's dinner, u think ok?
cos i want to let mia eat pasta but dun trust my MIL to cook the sauce...so was thinking of doing this way...won't spoil right?

japa
actually i also liddat think, edu plan we can ownself save for her. haha. for those who bot the edu plan, can it be used for poly nt? coz the agent says uni... so just wondering... japa, so hw much u paid for the life plan?

pinky

lamagier i agree tat the 18mm mat might not b useful already.. 1 is enuff lar! use the $ buy other thg!!! hahahahaa

bbethan i dun bring hot water flask also.. go macodonal or anywhere they shld giv haha but my thermal flask for the food is v deep so i cant feed direct =(

winnie
