6.30pm - porridge
9pm - 150ml milk

in btw her porridge n last feed, she'll snack on biscuits n sometimes our rice when we sit at the dinner table.

RE: Ya lao stand

happy.gif

Pinky & Chiyojade,
I found them in FP website, my church ordered their Healthy Care Booster Seat (http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2002&e=demo&pid=27475&pcat=b_babygear) from Happy Baby Departmental Centre, #02-28, Beauty World Centre, Tel: 6468 8862 Attn: Susan

I called susan and found out that one is not the latest version, and my church already bought all the stock they have. It's $70 each.

I search the FP & BabiesRUs site and I intend to order the red (cos I am still hoping for a girl next time):
http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2011&e=detail&selcat=bgh&pid=46520

I am going to have it sent to my MIL for use when we go back in Jul, then bring it home. IT's only U$27 (fOC shipping!!!), so it's S$40+/-, quite a big diff compare to price here.

RE: Over Feeding
I always thought I am over feeding K too! His intake:
7am, 180ml FM (max he could drink each feed)
9am, oat/ rice cereal with fresh fruit (100ml)
12pm, porridge with meat & veg (200ml)
12:30-1pm, eat about 60ml of whatever I am eating for lunch if my lunch has no seasoning, else, it'll be one small container of apple puff (those 4 in bundle from Daiso)
3:30-4pm, 180ml FM
6:30, porridge with meat & veg
9-10pm, 150ml FM (just started needing this feed last week)

This morning, he suddenly developed high fever and couldn't sleep, kept giving the fake cry around 2:30am, I din't realized until about 3am, took his temperature and administered nurofen, and gave another 180ml FM..

K seems to eat/drink anytime he is being fed, I suspect he is cutting his molar since 2 months back, and I think they are really cutting soon. I am very pleased this did not affect his appetite.

My only problem with him is his sleeping habit--he is duracell baby!!!
sad.gif

Oh, I forgot, 30mins after porridge, K will have his apple sauce, same amount as the apple puff, occasionally doubled that anount..

re: Sleep
Are many of your babies still doing evening naps? I was trying to wean MR off her evening naps, in hope it will make her sleep earlier than her usual 11pm. But as some of you have seen before, she can just 'lights out' anywhere when she's tired. no amount of stimulation can keep her awake. (Took her out for lunch last sat and she was happy playing with my pils. She just suddenly put lean forward onto the tray on her high chair and fell asleep without any warning!)

For sleep training, do you just place baby in cribs at the designated bedtime and let them cry and repeat till they adjust their biological clock? Remembered reading Sam and Mashy were doing some sleep training, but my tiny brain already forgot the details

babyethan, how's Amanda's attitude towards drinking water now? Realised my boy drink better using magmag straw cup. Drink approx 150-300ml daily. not sure izzit little or normal. but at least he finally open his mouth.
happy.gif

My boy also have 4 meals per day. His intake : -
8am - 180ml milk
12pm - porridge/cereal
4pm - 150ml milk
7pm - porridge/cereal

Porridge he can eat 2.5-3bowls using the pigeon green colour bowl.
Cereals 8-10 soup spoon + 8-10 soup spoon puree (veg/fruits).

I need to get another bigger bowl for him. He started to get impatient if i feed too slow.

Given him alot of outside & adult food. Had already given him egg white few months back. He loves cakes. Pandan cake, cheese cake, choc cake........ hehe.

lamagier
mine still need the evening nap... but usually v short - 0.5hr n it'll last her till 8pm when she'll get sleepy n fuss already. she usually sleeps at 9pm. the only thing that can make her stay awake a bit longer is food. i tried dropping off the evening nap. cannot make it. she'll get all grouchy by 7pm. end up she's awake at 11pm!
sad.gif

twinkle
she's still not drinking much
sad.gif
less than 60ml a day.
the prob she doesnt know how to drink from the straw. she thinks we r playing with her when we teach her to put the straw into her mouth. else she'll treat the cup like a toy n fling around.

RE: Insurance Policies for LOs
Winnie, Pinky & Chiyojade, have you girls spoke with independent financial planner (the real financial planner and not those from insurance companies)?
I have posted here before on this topic as I did my holistic financial planning with them and I was very glad I did. They will be able to work our which insurance policies for you by comparing those offered by the ins companies. They even have those who are w/o huge advertisements budget (which after all is our premium money)!

It's like buying training potty. You go to FP, you only get info and can only compare product of the same brand. Whilst if you go to, say, Babies R Us, you can compare all the various brands, even those who do not advertised, but the store will have all the product features listed, even the reliability of the product for the past century. Then it'll hit you that, such insurance companies have been around for ages and never once reduced the return in your invetment lined policies!!! "Wow, so cheated", you'll think.. To be honest, I still have anger with myself for not going to them 15 years ago, while I type this msg.. that's why I am sounding very pushy here! I dun do financial planning, perhaps I should!

Just to reveal something here, I had 2 investments linked policies which I took up when I was 22, I paid $1900/ policy and after 15 years, I only have $37000k return when I surrender. Yes, this is affected by the Asian econ crisis & the recent USA crisis, yet, if you take Economics, you should be able to calculate the compounded return every 7 years.

With the same amount of premium paid, I was able increase my coverage 10 folds, and mind you, I am close to 40years old as compared to then the 22 years!!!

RE: Living policy
I have this and I was adviced to surrender as the term : "living" means I have to continue paying even when I am diagnosed with any of the diseases covered.

I love my financial planner deeply for this. Only thing that I could not take the full advantage is that my husband is American and under US law, there are alot of complicating terms forbidding him from taking up term life policy overseas, as such, we can only link K's policies with me which has no financial benefit (riders) should something happen to him; or full advantage if something happen to me.

There are many such independent planners out there and only thing they cannot advise (unlike in the US) is taxation.

I can now manage my investments portfolio like the stock market and she follows up with me closely unlike most of my ins agents who "disappear" after the first year then come back to "service" me when they have new policy to sell me or when they read that my company (previously) declared a large bonus in the newspaper!

Lamagier, bbethan,
My gal still have 2 nap. 1 in 10am+ and 2 in 4pm. Every nap about 45min to 1hour. She sleep from 8.30pm to the next day around 7.30am. But usually i will ask her to wake up for the last feed around 10.30pm.

Pinky, Bbethan,
oh. Mine takes 3 naps a day. Late morning, mid afternoon and evening. She sleeps from around 11pm to about 8am. Her evening nap is around 8pm. Maybe I'll try to make her go back to sleep when she wakes from her nap. Turn evening nap into bed time....

Lamagier,
by this age, bb dun need too many naps already, the 8pm may well be sleeping time for many babies by now. I hope MR will be able to sleep from 8 to the next day.
U can either try letting her sleep lightly later than 8pm for a start. Or you can let her sleep at 8 and if needed a milk feed when she wakes up, then pat her back to sleep. Only thing about latter, I read that may develop tooth decay.

re: drinking water

hmmm Bbethan
maybe u want to try using a different cup or spoon, like using A's current fav cartoon character. i manage 2 get bon 2 drink abit juz now by using metal spoon instead of his usual pigeon.

re: baby-led weaning
tried it on bon tis am, it works =) we actually sat down tog & finally hv a peaceful meal, no war, phew

Lamagier,
i agree with Kim. Maybe if she wake up then feed her a night feed. My gal will wake up if i never give her the last feed.

Kim, Pinky,
OK. I'll give it a try over the long weekend.
Just hope all my training will not go down the drain when she goes over to my aunt's on week days

lamagier..edna still need 3 nap a day! e evening nap usualy about 30mins else she gt prob drinkin her last feed at 8ish.by 9 she goes to slp.earlier nw..previously slept ard 9.45..i aso wn wean her off last nap bt nt successful leh..onli once a while she dn nap

Naps
Mine takes three a day - morning, noon and late afternoon. He goes to bed 7+pm every night and wakes his poor mom every morning at 6am by pulling her ear...lamagier, MR sleeps super late leh...even my almost-4-yr-old sleeps at 9pm...latest by 10pm if it's a special occasion.

Kim
I remember you sharing the insurance/financial planning thing before here...we bought ours way before you wrote all those but thank you again for sharing. Some in the forum put in efforts to share in details (we need more of you!) while some, like me (very guilty), read and absorb the expertise and knowledge and clumsily try to implement or execute the recommended
happy.gif

TJE, may I tungpang the purchase? I don't need that many as I usually use the dryer sheets when I take K out, it;s another effective housewife method, just like replacing your floor detergent with rice vinegar to sanitize you floor.

Please help me order 5 bands, I like 1 red, 2 orange and 2 green pleas. Thank you!

FOZ, I am writing this again because I always feel that pinch when I compare the premium I would have save for the same coverage, and for as long as more than 15 years. I sincerely do not want anyone to fall into this again. Additionally, I always thought the financial "planner" has to have some decency to inform investor of the market movement as and when there is a sign of tumble, which most do not. My investment relationship manager (who was a friend!!) from the bank did not and I suffered from as much as 70% loss during the recent USA crisis. My stock broker does that with me, he will give me info/history & advice of the stock I pick, and I will trade on my own even though I was a small investor and he has such a big portfolio.

If winnie mummy had not post to ask for info, I wouldn't have decide on spending more time posting this again while K battles with his fever.

However, to all mommies, if whatever I said has implicated yours or your hubby's profession (bcos you may well be an insurance agent/ or financial planner who comes from the ins company), then accept my apology for sharing this painful experience of mine here.

Re: Parents who think they're doctors

overhead a telephone conversation of the nurse with the parent yesterday at the PD. Total idiotic parent. The parent has a 4mth old baby and she fed him his elder brother's medication and then called and ask if it's ok. Stupid right? The bb has never taken the meds before, and she also won't know how much to give. She thinks she's doctor. The nurse advised her to see the PD but she was still so insistent about the meds and even asked if it's alright to give. Aiyoh, it's like asking for permission after you've done it and then if anything wrong happens, they wanna sue the clinic? Stupid parents leh.

Then another smart aleck grandma who was given a medication for the baby, asked how come not another meds. As if she's the dr lor. The other meds is meant for >1yr old kid. THe baby she was carrying looks very young. Think less than 6 months old.

Kim

Wow, your cousin not scared her son get overdose and die from it? Meds cannot play play.

mashy,

ghess some parents just in don't have simple medical knowledge..

i guess probably they dun join monthehood forums like us, where we learn a lot from each other.

...............

GSS is here.. I'm thinking if i should buy a bread machine haha.. i'm been thinking of gettting one for ages.. but scared it will be a white elephant after a few rounds of "Play" ..

Anyone knows which brand is good for a amature baker like me?

I also need to replace my oven.. I need to buy those table top kind that can fit 1 chicken (30L perhaps?)

There are those Akira to Tefel ones.. does the brand really give different quality of baking results?

sunsweet

get those with fan coil for the ovens. Don't get Akira. It sucks big time. I believe brand does affect coz the lower ends one can have uneven heating. My lousy cornell one cannot bake cake properly. It's either too hard (too hot) or the insides are not cooked properly (not hot enough). So till now still can't bake a decent cake out of it.

Sunsweet,

My auntie also have one bread maker. Good sia. Throw the ingredient in and you dun have to worry this and that. She everytime do it before she sleep then the next morning she have freshly bake bread for makan.

Oven. I bought before Tefel. But now at my in law there as no time to do cooking. No bad! I can cook whole chicken. How many Litres i forgot already but quite big!

mashy,
The oven with fan kind are usually built in kinds i think.

Table top ones dun think hace fan.

Pinky.. Your aunt's bread machines what brand?
Cos i think since my gals loves bakery breads (no/ less preservatives) must well i invest in one bread machine keke..

sunsweet
buy the bluesky brand fr carrefour.. its the most economical n trusting!
mine been w mi for 5 yrs and still serve me well!

Insurance

Finally I can contribute to the this forum, since I in this line. Hope it could be of help

I've apply for Xuanyin's insurance before she turn 1 mth coz insurance co can only accept a child 1 mth old onwards, therefore by being kiasu apply b4 1 mth it would get incepted when she turns 1 mth old.

Plans she's got

1. Hospitalisation plan (Prushield A Premier with Extra)
which cover her all the way to private hosptial without paying a single cent. Cause I want the best for her, from my client experience her child got whizzing prob after few consultation with the PD, they were referred to the hosptial which cause them a few thousand, which I help them claim the every single cent from intial PD bills to hospitalisation bill and the follow ups.

2. Accidental plan
In case she is hurt from minor cuts or bruise that do not require hospitalisation I can claim from her PD bills for it, which also cover TCM

3. 2 life plan
1 as a gift to her which we would not need to pay after awhile yet cover her for life.
another which cover her at the same time was meant for her education. which she can choose to continue the plan if she wants to after she starts working. the least we could do for her is giving her a head start. But if she misbehaviours and doesn't want to study, then it would be our retirement funds haha.....

I think that this is the best we could do for her for now, as we are not that rich afterall.

Hope the above is of help, if u need any advise please PM me coz usually I'm very lost following the tread. don't worry I don't charged for my advise haha...
