im not sure whether she gd or not wor. bcos never try before. but i see the feedback seems not bad for her charges. bcos she's onli charging 50bucks for 75mins inclusive of binder. i tink elsewhere dey start to increase to 60bucks alreadi.

Like 2 ask if any of ur #1 started on rice for meals? If so, hw do u all prepare? I'm having headache as my #1 prefer rice. But how 2 prepare so little rice with separate dishes?

Any way 2 mk some nice gravy? Possible 2 minus of the salt, soy sauce anot?

I used her services after my #1. But oni 2 days sessions. Due to my skin sensitive, itch after 1 day. So when Mdm Sadiah came on the 2nd day, she saw my itch, she say i not suitable to do. Advises me not 2 continue. So my massage was quite short lived. But i would say she is quite gd in her massage skills.

She came back 2 collect the binder on the 3rd day, she even prepare a little ang bao 4 my #1.

how old is your #1? It's good that your #1 prefers rice. My boy is too lazy to chew but we still give him rice.

I do make gravy but coz he's a bigger boy now so i'll add the usual condiments like soy sauce & sugar.

If not, u can try doing with tomato paste? They've canned tomato paste which is pure tomatoes. It is tasty on it's own and i use that to make the base for my boy's pasta.

how abt making soups with rice? Like ABC soup. It's tasty on its own without any salt and there's all the vege & meat in it? I used to do that for my boy when he was younger. Now that his taste buds have gotten more complex, he wanted more dishes other than soup...

A few things that u can use to make your gravy to avoid adding salt and still be tasty are tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, cabbage, carrots. Another way is to use orange juice and milk. I've seen a kiddy prog on making fried noodles with orange juice and i tried it. Not bad. hehehe.

my #1 jz turned 13mths old. do u tink 2 young 2 take rice? so far my bb sitter gave her 2 tablespoons wif some fish, she is ok wif it.

orange juice? will it be 2 acidc though nw she is 13mth old. i tot of delaying acidic fruits 2 later.

ya, i tot of soup too. oh btw hw do u prepare the rice? i try 2 boil abit of rice, but hv 2 watch over the fire and keep stirring, in case it get burnt.

not too young. My friend's son also prefers rice and skipped the porridge. He even takes french toast at that age as snack! When he was like your gal's age, also taking rice already. So long as she can chew, it's fine.

I use rice cooker lah. Anyway, the whole family needs to eat too. I don't just cook for him.

If still so young, need to make the pcs abit smaller & choose softer food, so easier to chew.

So happy for you that your baby is fine. :D I cant wait to see my little gal too. How come your baby can do somersaults, I am so envious of that! My little gal, at each scan is always at that same position sleeping.. haha.. So never get to see her move much you know. My friends told me that it could be the timing of the scan which is alway after dinner at around 9pm.

Hi Princess, somehow I think you are going to be really good mother to your baby cos you seems to care alot for your baby and know what you are doing now and is willing to be responsible for your actions. Do let me know if you need help since we do stay near each other.

I think for me, bb move most in morning though I can feel it. I did my detailed scan in the morning. Bb did sit and reach followed by leg raised then flip over.... Got asked to go back scan again before lunch (back face us), 2pm (push up position) and 4pm (kneel down) cos bb refused to cooperate.

read somewhere bb suppose to move more after mother eat. maybe you can try drink hot chocolate or milo to give bb sugar, then will move more. That's what my gynae told me to do in order to get bb to wake up and change position. (Eh, I took coffee instead. Bb really woke up...)

Hopefully your bb will do interesting things to 'entertain' you & hubby during your next scan!
 
esther, do u have one of those multi layer steamer? i find it very useful especially preparing food in a hurry. i just cook rice, then put a slice of fish in a bowl (with a dash of oil and salt) and also a small bowl of steam egg. just leave it for 15-20 minutes, and it's done.

yeah i'm going for my detailed scan tomorrow, update u guys tomorrow...waited soooo long!!

my #1 took porridge from 8 months onward to about 18 months plus. if u r afraid rice might be harder to digest than porridge, maybe u add more water to the rice. i know it's kinda troublesome especially preparing food for one, that's why i normally eat she eats, hehehehehehe.

multi layer steamer? Oh i didnt tink of tat! i tried to steam veggies, stir fried fish and pork and boil rice concurrently. I was so clumsy last wkend.

re: bb movement
for the past 2 weeks or so, ive been feeling my baby popping and moving around very high up in my tummy. it's above the belly button and below the breast area. isit normal? bcos i thought tat wun so fast go up there?
 
HBB, enjoy your scan and your prenatal class today. I jus signed up mine too yest at the parentcraft centre. But my lessons are fr 2-4pm on every sat. Any mummies here in that class too? Now jus hope my hb is free to attend all the lessons with me.

Jamie, i think it's the timing that you do the scan. He was jus trying to be funny. Made me worried then made me laugh. But indeed i went to delifrance to buy a peach tart cox i jus feel like munching something. And i did my scan immediately after that. Maybe he's jus happy that i've eaten something. Hee...

u sure will be a gd mum. though the path is not gg 2 be easy. i believe for those mummies who dun hv the luxury of mums or MILs' help, aso nt an easy path. i struggled wif my hb in taking care of my #1 for the past 1 yr, finally so called gg to njoy the fruit of she being a toddler nw, then #2 arriving soon. so gotta 2 re-struggle the whole 1 yr again. keke...

can be physically and mentally toil on ur body esp u gg 2 breastfeed and expressing. so be mentally prepared.

all mummies must keep a +ve mindset!

pprincess, isit becox your boy did an inverse handstand? Hee....i always feel my boy's butt protruding and his head muz be inside. I always tell him to be shy...cannot always show his butt.

Many 2nd time mummies here. After seeing all teh discussion about haveing to worry about #1 getting used to #2, preparing food to cater for bb, toddler & family, taking care of them etc... Wow... really really have my work cut out for me. Still, ma ma is Wei Da de... =)

Yeah, i oso agreed we hav got so much to learn fr all the experienced mothers here. So gd they already gone thru taking care of their 1st one. All expert liaoz!!!

I plan to send my elder kid to cc in may...will start off with half day first. hopefully he can settle down by jul when i am due and maybe convert to full day when i bk to work. as for my younger kid, my mum will help to take care. do u have a maid or planning to get one? my hubby doesn't want to employ a maid ...dunno can cope or not ..

im interested to join the class bcos.. i wan to know hw to bathe my baby, handling and also breastfeeding. but seems like everywhere i check doesn just have that 3 topics. they will touch on somethin that i find is abit outdated, or no longer impt or something tat i know alreadi before going to those topics =x and also rather exp.
anibodi know whether there's ani place tat jus offer the basic baby care and not touch on aniting else? hahas. i tried calling the TMC and check wif them, dey sae onli fro helper. not for preggie mother. duno why also -.-

Yes..i guess the last 2 lessons should be the most practical. It's 214 if delivered at TMC...slightly higher for those not in TMC and cheaper for FBI members.

i use tefal. So far it's been a good experience. I also used that to steam my boy's food when he was younger. He loves chawanmushi so i made a lot of that then. In fact, u can use the steamer to steam rice too, but i've not done that before. They provided a special container to steam rice.

as far as i rem, she told me can oni start 1 wk later after my natural birth. as 4 c-sect, i not too sure.

oh talking abt rice. u use any special rice? like those "new crop" rice? chinese is "sin mi" heard tat tis type of rice though ex, is softer after cooked.
 
hi Lamagier and Kitty, thanks for your info, I will definitely keep it in mind. Yes, I think you are pretty right, cos by 9pm, all my food taken at 7pm would have digested and baby could be sleeping again. :S

Yes, definitely hoping for more action from the little one for the next scan! I make sure I have a most scumptious meal before I go in!

abt $100. Can get at best denki/courts/harvey norman. I'm waiting for GSS to get a brand new one to sterilise my #2's bottles next time.

I prefer tefal coz can take out the layers in between, i.e. u can place tall objects inside to steam.

I just use normal rice lah. To me, just add a bit more water and it'll be softer already. :p If you're still concerned, soak the rice in water for half water before u cook.

Nowadays, i steam almost anything in the steamer, even to heat up buns, make apple puree etc. That day bought some apples which tasted very raw, so they ended up in the steamer with a bit of honey. Came out like apple pie.

One way to cook BB rice.. My MIL always use a seperate bowl fill with some rice but with more water and put in the rice cooker to cook for my gal..

This way we adults get to eat our normal texture rice and my gal eats her softer grains.

as for sauce.. after 18 mths i slowly introduce table food to her.. but usually the more diluted ones.. like the sauce from steam fish, steam eggs with tofu are also good too
 
I think i'll get #1 to 3 hrs playgroup.. con't her MMI class...

hopefully she can cope being in an non-adult accompanied class.

Think hospital may give free one-off lesson on how to bath and handle babies, mainly targeted at daddies & maids. I know TMC gives them. And I think some mummies did mention KKH does give them also. Haha, maybe can find out the timing for these classes and sneak into them for free =)

Else if check with the parentcraft people if can selectively attend the classes.

By the way, if you need the mrs wong parentcraft books, i can go check with my sister if she has them. Cos we both sign up for FBI cards, so both have the books. She doesn't need them anymore
 
lamagier - what do they teach you at parentcraft classes? is it like antenatal ?

jamie - yup trying to be patient and count down the next few days till detailed scan. then can start shopping for baby clothes

they will have these lessons during your hospital stay. So don't worry. And we don't remember much of what's being taught in the class anyway. haha. Coz it was too far away. And dummy can't move. A real bb does. that's the real challenge.

When my gal was younger i cook from puree kind of porridge to later a more grainy porridge.. but i often boil it with meat/ veg stock.. so itself its already tasty.

When she started rice abt after 18 mths, i will saperately make steam fish/ steam meat patty/ steam pumpkin + Tofu... such food to mix in her rice.. no soya sauce yet.. till mths later she insist on our table food then i'm much more lax with her seasoning intake..

But different hospital diff syllabus. i saw TMC & KKH has different content.

agree with mashy, nothing much can prepare you for real bb.

First time my sister & BIL try to bath their first born, they spent 15min setting up ~ warm water (then too hot/too cold ~ spend time getting correct temp, use thermometer measure...), towel, cotten balls, diaper, wet wipes, bb clothes etc all laid out.

The moment they tried to clean bb's eyes with wet cottonball, bb cried. They paniced and gave up. Said wait for confinement nanny to come the next day and let her bath bb instead.... hahahahaha

I oso read somewhere that u can choose to sign up any 2 lessons (w/o taking the whole course) but not too sure abt the costs.

i still rem the 1st time i bath my gal after CL left. i didnt practice while the CL was here. so I was left wif my gal alone @ home. trying 2 recall hw the CL bath her. i did rem the procedure but jz like wat mashy mentioned, bb CAN move and they are reali very soft, quite scary to handle man. so i was quite stressed when come 2 bathing time. keke...
