El chan > I don't use any teething gel on T. I was just talking to my paediatric dentist buddy. She also agrees that she did not use teething gel nor baby toothpaste on her 3 kids.
Cos our babies will swallow most of it. They will swallow whatever is put into their mouths. We don't want baby to eat any medication, anaesthetic or funny enzymes in teething gel or toothpaste.
Especially toothpaste.
Cos there are no studies showing that baby toothpaste has any beneficial effect. So they are just swallowing funny enzymes into their little bodies.
Only biotene, the company that makes it says it is good for babies. Go think. Lol.

If really no choice then use. I dunno which brand is better.
I just use clean fingers to massage T's gums for relief when he was first teething and gave him a teether to bite on. Hug,

u all cook the pork together with the porridge?
i usually cook the pork separately then once porridge is ready, just mix into the cooked pork in.
 
re: food for babies at halal places
First time bringing porridge for my boys to eat at infant care today. Quite surprise to receive a call from the teacher asking what porridge is that...she said they dun feed porridge with pork or beef. so u see, even infant care also cannot bring non-halal food...sigh...that means I can only use pork on weekends...tsk
 
japa, I got mine from Robinsons...u should be able to find it at most of the dept stores...check out the section selling pigeon products.

bestberries, actually I also dunno how to play with them but I find that as long as I stay beside them (even if just lying there doing nothing/sleeping) they also happy ler...

hbb, they do provide meals but I prefer to bring my own food so I know what my babies are eating everyday. oh ya...I was about to ask u what is non halal chicken... :p

ehh non halal chicken is cheaper! usualy chinese n indian will buy. if u notice in supermart.thr is 2 seperate chicken section. te method ofkilling is different.

u cn start w threadfin. bt if bb have cough or phlegm..giv other fish like snapper or salmon.

I do bring my boy out for full day and what I did was bring some cereals and bottled food. Will heat up by pouring hot water on a bowl/cup similar to steaming concept.

For me, I will cook 3/4 of the pork with porridge and 1/4 of which will leave it till when he is about to makan, cooked it to retain the nutrients.

Phew, I glad to hear that my boy is not the only one who has been drinking lesser milk these days.
On Sunday, I read the papers, there was a table indication how much babies be drinking. For 9mths, baby need to drink 750ml/day, 1-2 solid food and 1/2 fruits.

Will boiled pork and throw in some dried red dates(remove seed) to cook with porridge. you can consider cooking with carrots too.

it would be our 1st trip with her overseas n also 1st time to Bali so we r unfamilar with the place
1. We don't what we need to bring for her. cause not sure what could be bought in Bali?
2.The thing I realize is that we actually bought tickets for travelling light so mean that we r hand carrying our luaggue so I'm afraid of the restriction on liquid items.
3.how to cook overseas? I saw hbb mention abt travel cooker can I put in hand carry? Then the raw food? Buy or bring fm S'pore?

I'll be there 2-6aug. No driver free n easy. Don't know how to speak bahasa. Haven't booked hotel, don't which is reasonable n baby friendly coz afraid to dirty bed n bathtub for baby to use. Can't be to expensive coz bring 2 sets of parents there too.

enjoy yr holidays. i missed those resort days... especially the breakfast feeling. arrgghh.... stuck here in spore. even if go, the feeling will be different cos got the kids.
if not wrong, FOZ went to club med recently. that one is definitely children friendly.

bbethan, hbb - thanks for tips on blending and cooking porridge. i didnt know threadfin cannot give during cough. no wonder my bbies had flu 2 weeks back and took more than a week to recover.

actualy whn edna is sick she goes on veggie diet. cos sinseh say the meat is heaty too. wll hinder recover process
so i jus follow since i been following this sinseh hee...

bt whn she is sick esp whn heaty w a bit of sore throat i giv her cold ebm(nt chilling cold thou..jus nvr heat up aft out of fridge for half hr). cos it soothes her throat n she drinks better

i bring her when she is sick. cos she is too young now to go just for wellbeing as the body immunity is still v large depending on her own body until aft 1 yr old.

eh... when she's sick, i'm still giving all the meats/fish, wolfberries n red dates... aiyo... making all the mistakes here. better keep this in mind. actually hor... is there any value add in using stock to cook porridge?

i tinkwhen sick u wan giv meat n fish still ok but tink the herbs is the potent one. my sinseh advise not to giv bb too much herbs at such age. she say at most sishen..
wolf berry n date she say they can do w/o it becos we duno the body condition of baby yet.. try nto to giv too much. tat y nw i reduce to once a week w wolfberry nia.use to giv every meal!!!!!

stock i tink is just for taste? i dun use stock to cook porridge unless i cooking for alot of kids. i onli use plain water to cook
 
hbb, wolfberries- once a week ? uh oh, i give a few times a week. gee, you know so much.

fish/meat to cook porridge - i put 1 chunk, about half fist full for 1 meal of porridge for 2 bbies, but will only puree about 1/3 of the fish/meat cos i notice if i blend the whole lot the bbies dont like the porridge. maybe it taste too strong.

i tink no prob w giving few times a week lar so logn as they eat it while healthy. but nowadays i am over loaded w food stuff in edna's porridge so i cutting down on some stuff LOL

jus started giving tofu to her in porridge and she quite like it... gg to buy some beef later to make beef essence and mix into her porridge for her to eat. heard it steengthen up the body
 
ehh i dun do it right all the time too... i do wrong and then kpo ard n then realise im wrong so rectify fr them! we learn thru mistakes lar!
 
i don't dare to give wolfberries more than once a wk. cos she's also taking carrots n pumpkin. scared she gets yellow as it seems like she's taking a fair bit of yellow veg. got the sishen powder but i always forget to add. so it's only like once or twice a wk.

she doesn't like tofu. what else do u add into the porridge other than tofu?

how to make beef essence? it's diff from beef stock or the meat itself?

i'm running out of idea what to cook already.
 
i buy mince beef from cold storage, ask them to pack into 70g per packet and use 1 packet for each meal. i add carrots, celery, green veg to porridge, then add in beef. oh, i dont know abt my bbies, but i lurrrve it.

chicken - do you use organic chix to cook porridge ? so far i haven intro chix yet. cos i think with all the hormone jabs in the chix, not so healthy. when can intro chix ? annabel karmal says 9 months can already

haha, i also feed her red dates and wolfberries a few times a week. She's turning yellowish, so i'm cutting down all the orangey food. I was so scared she got jaundice then i remembered i've been feeding her a lot of orange food. hahaha.

i'm also running out of ideas on what to cook. My gal likes cauliflower, so today i went to buy some. She doesn't like pork. So very sian. only fish sometimes.

Now I really dislike cooking her food coz dunno what else to cook! I tried making creamy pasta, but she doesn't like.

MPH at city link has a small section for crayola.
I got 4 tubes of paint from a craft shop at Harbourfront, forgot the price liao. MPH is about $0.30-$0.40 more expensive. I haven't give crayon cos I expect MR will eat them. Just let squirt paint on her hands, let her feel the texture and rub over drawing block paper (the ones we use in primary school).

how about trying out AquaDoodle? I just opened my box of aquadoodle to let my gal play with water. :p Just use her hands & legs to make palm prints.
After that just dry the mat.

They rather eat the crayons than use them properly now, so i find no point getting them.

Do your bbs get fever when they're teething? Char felt warm to me earlier and measured 38.3 deg C, but she's behaving as per normal. I know her top 2 are cutting thru, her fingers are in her mouth all the time. But 38.3 seems a little high to me leh...

Cough cannot give red dates heh?? I've juz made dbl boiled pear with chuan bei and red dates for my #1 who's having cough and running rose... How, can give or not??
