(2009/05) May 2009 MTBs

Me went to gimmil sale yday around 7pm - late but then I dont know anyone here so not sure if anyone of u there. I dig deep and found some 9m 12m baby gal stuff. total pocket hole of $80. hubby going tom to buy some boy and gal for gift. very hot inside baby cranky.

Grace of God - actually they r 'training' us, so i need to 'untrain' them :p

fare very badly..

#1 used to sleep in dreambag but by age 2.5yr, she din used it anymore, think too warm cos she wear long pants instead. only problem with her is she needed someone to be with her when falling asleep, other than dat is ok..
afternoon nap timing, she just go into her room n sleep herself. she only ve problem at nite, think she scared cos my #1 really very 'gutless'..
like if we outside, she sees kids (younger than her), she will waved n smile at them but if they comes over, my gal will be so scared that she will cry very badly ..

#2 issue only e nite feed, he only wanted e 'nipple' n nothing else, i find it not an issue but heard from colleagues, i may need to go outstation either in Jan or Feb so, will need to change this habit of his or not him n hubby will 'suffer' when i go outstation..

Hi Bean!

Good to know that you are positive about my method and I do agree with you that our kids are not robots and at times they do need our extra care and concern... Well, what I have been practising so far does not discount the fact that I love them very much and all the time! It just that when it comes to sleeping or creating a conducive environment for sleeping, I want to ensure that my children are secure at all times, especially in their own rooms. Therefore I came up with several ideas to facilitate myself in creating that security for them.

To add on, I am actually quite 'military' so I enjoy 'structure', 'routine' and all...

, very unlike some of the mummies here who probably think that my style is inhumane
happy.gif
Hahaha!

Jen, maybe it's a girly thing for #1
happy.gif
and it is true that darkness can be quite scary, both for adults and children. She might be just a little timid but I am sure after she goes to school, things will get better cos they need to work with others and at times, fend for themselves
happy.gif
Oh, good to hear that she is alright in the afternoon... maybe u might like to get her to articulate to you about her fear of falling asleep on her own?

porky,

i remembered the last time yr boy had diarrhoea and u sent him to kk?What do they do to treat him? my girl has been having diarrhoea since this morning n her diaper area is very inflammed n she just kept crying . She had abt more than 10 diaper change since 11 am. i dun know if i shd bring her to kk. i brought her to pd in the afternoon but she doesnt seem to b better after taking the medication.

Any mum has similar experience, pls advise what i shd do.

Hi Star,
U got Lactore Forte at home? Give it immed twice since tomorrow sunday. Instead of going KK visit doctor in SBCC or Kinder CLinic. If tomorrow also same more than 10+ when u call clinic on monday tell them u want to get stool test as baby diahhorea since 2 days and no improvement after using lactore forte. CHange to Soya milk formula/ Lactose intolerance till she totally recover.

Does ur family got latose/ cow's milk allergy. Other symptoms to note is wheezing, fussiness, pain in abdomen, vomit.
How long did u breastfeed?

PM me if u need any urgent help. I will generally awake whole night.

hi star, sorry i just saw ur msg...hope ur girl is better now...my boy has more than 10 diaper change within 3hrs..yes i bring him to kkh...they examine his anus and gave him some numb cream..other than that the doc say i can continue to apply desitin purple cream...pd gave lactose forte so i let him drink in between feed and change his fm to frisosoy...he only fully recover after 3weeks...if u wan to ask more u can text me

Thanks, sgvp and porky.

The doc did give lactose forte. I have given once -no improvement. I will try again later.
I breastfed for the past 7 months, recently introduced formula (Similac) for night feed (12am and 3am feed) abt 2 weeks ago . My mum is lactose intolerant but both my hubby and i are ok. For stool test, do i bring the soiled diaper for the test ?

Porky,
do u know the diff between desitin purple and blue? The doc gave my bb an inflammatory cream. Did the doc says what the diarrhoea is due to ? 3 weeks.. oh no.. my girl only has it for 1 day and she's been crying the whole day!

star, purple is zinc more percentage...so is better can recover faster...doc say my bb's diarrhoea is due to his flu..i think ur girl will cry a lot cos she is feeling pain...my boy cry and shiver on every diaper change...i let him suckle hope to ease his pain and he can fall asleep better

If any one of ur family or ur hubby family got allergy/ intolerance history chances r more to get it. My gal is cow's milk intolerant turned out to be cow's milk allergy now. She had diahhorea for 7 weeks..10+ times also.
I give her Lactorel Forte. It would stop diahhorea appearance atleast for couple of hours. Still shifting to total soya milk is better(if you take her to PD they will give antibiotic and may get thrush so avoid antibiotic if all diagnosis leads no clues)

cow's milk allergy is commonest in breastfeeding. so dont worry if u see blood in the stool. it is also common in breastfeeding. I have contacted Le leche intl and they have leaded to some clues and I have further researched on it and found some clues. If u see blood in the stool dont worry but do take action immediately (I mean consult PD/ specialist)

I used to apply JORUBI aloe Vera on her botton and anal area. I would put it for a while in fridge so it is cooling when applied.

Hi Star,
hope ur bb is ok now..

How to prepare Avocado for bb to eat?
mummies, bgt 1 avocado ... but i dont know how to prepare... anyone did tt before can advise?

sgvp,
your bb got diarrhoea for 7 weeks ? she must b in so much distress. cow's milk allergy is common in breastfeeding- is it cos mummies who breastfeed eat food which are made of cow milk and it passes to the Breast milk? Should i avoid anything that's made of cow's milk now?

thanks for your concern, mummies.
my girl still didnt get better , brought her to another pd for 2nd opinion cos her diaper area becomes so raw and red. looks very painful. pd says it's diarrhoea virus which i guess she contracted from the infant care
sad.gif
hope she recovers tom. the pd gave soya formula milk. but i am afraid if i introduce another new kind of milk, it will upset her stomach. Is there any known reaction or allergy to soya milk.

i see, i will get the purple desitin, i only have the blue one now.

hi ling,

you can cut a well -ripened avocado on half and scoop out the stone. Use 1/3-1/2 and mash the flesh with a fork maybe adding a little milk. Serve quickly to avoid it turning brown . Do not freeze avocado.

ling lim,
warmed fm is ok.

ak,
i read from Annabel Karmel's meal planner book that it cant be frozen (think it's cos it turns brown easily) hence i dare not risk it (but there are some website that says you can freeze the avocado . We will eat the remaining avocado instead of freezing it.

Ur PD already say it is cause of Virus. (is it rotavirus?) but u MUST give her soya milk now till she recover. Dont worry nothing will happen when change to soya. If you are BF, avoid dairy products for sometime. (reason dairy protein is complex to digest compared to soya)

(I was taking wheat as well as dairy products so was difficult which to avoid and eliminate rounds were painful as there was no improvement in her situation that time, it might be possible that gluten in wheat might also be allergic so I had not given her any wheat so far.)

Try not to give solids for a while till she recovers its not that it is bad but generally their energy should be diverted to recover not to digest food. make her rest a lot.
hope it helps.

Hi, anyone feed your baby meat already? I was thinking for feeding pork, but don't know how to go about preparing. Do you all buy minced pork? If buy minced pork, how to wash before cooking and do you blend again before cooking?

baby_may - i'm starting my baby with pork this week. but no intention to let him eat the meat itself, just using it to cook the porridge. i intend to use chucks of it so that it can be easily separate from the porridge. i'm not too sure if bb can digest meat yet.

Baby May & ak,

I feed my boy pork already. Read from baby centre that 7 mth old can start to take poultry.

We 1st start off by using the pork to cook the soup base and then use the soup base to cook porridge. Last week, we blend the meat till tiny tiny pieces and cook it together with porridge and feed my boy. He enjoyed it!

As for fish, we intend to start 'Gor Fish' from 8th month onwards.

Here's my preferred baby brand products for sensitive skin (my girl had ezcema when she was a baby).

1. cetaphil
2. sebamed
3. baby keihl's

Porky, for throat infection, bring to see doctor, coz he will prescribe the suitable medicine. You have ba bao san? can also give to him.

star, i introduce soymilk to my boy that time...after he fully recover, i mix soy milk and fm for 1 week until i give him total fm..he is ok with it

Hi Star, hope your gal feeling beter now. My gal was having diarrhoea on/ off for the last few weeks. Like what SGPV advised, my PD also give lactoral forte and Smecta and also changed my gal's formula to Lactose Free formula. My gal don't like soy so shes now on Lactose Free Enfa.

I know how raw/ red her bum can be.. my gal's was extremely red, raw and hot to the touch. That tmie when I bath her in warm water.. she was in so much pain that she literally jump out of the tub - its just that painful.

All along I used DEsitin purple but when shes having diarrhoea.. it doesn't seems to help much. PD prescribe a cream (contain low steriod content) for her bum and it only helps for a few hours. This cream can only apply twice a day.

In the end, someone recommended me Drapolene which it seems to help. In addition, I also change her diaper to Pampers (originally she was using Huggies Dry Comfort) and within 2 days - her bum back to normal.

Yesterday we fed her similac (lactose) once in the mroning and her poo seems ok. Today we are going to feed her similac (lactose) formula the whole day to see if everything is ok. If yes, then we will continue with it. Although she prefers to have enfapro, I noticed that each time we feed her enfapro, she will diarrhoea. Not sure if its the formula or the lactose that she can't take. Hence we are experimentnig using Similac to see if she still has the diarrhoea problem.

RE: Pork
I started using pork to cook porridge for my gal yesterday. Did not give her the meat though - only use it to cook porridge. I used the "mei rou" to cook but I was told I should use the thigh meat to cook as its softer and better if want to let bb to eat. Does any mummy know what is the name of such a meat? My gf's mom bought for her so she doesn't know what its called.

Hi Pastries: May I know if we have to cook the pork for the soup before using the soup to cook porridge? Cos for me I throw the pork and porridge together.

RE Fish:
Under PD advise, I hve given my gal cod fish last week. My gal just turned 7mth. Intend to alternate between pork and fish.

PS: Sorry for the long email.

Porky

See PD also need to get appointment? Kid’s illness needs immediate attention. Kinder clinic is on first come first serve, and usually no appointment one. U may wanna try. I usually bring my kids to Paragon branch.

U may wanna try other PD then..

Poor Jaeden, hope he recover soon k.

hi mummies,
my gal got wheezing 2 times already. once on last month and the other time on last week. now on ventolin(oral) to clear the airway.
i need some advise on the issue, cos i worry it might turn into bronchiolitis/asthma if not taken care properly. what should i look out for when taking care of my gal?

Porky,
I agree w rc cola, its better u go now to kinder clinic. SBCC needs u to take appt. before u go their clinic. You also TAP(dont RUB) Yu Yee oil on her chest, tummy and back to give temp relief.
U continue Yu Yee oil till she recover and give medicine also. I apply Yu Yee oil when weather very cold also. When my gal had dry cough BABY EUCALPTYUS OIL works wonders. Recovered completely in 2 days time.

Sgpv
I also have eucalyptus oil which my mum bought me from indo. I apply it religiously to both my kids since young (every time after shower plus at nite while changing their PJs).

ILoveSashimi,
You can get from Mustafa medicine section no. 13. Its pink bottle cover.

Rc Cola,
Good to know another mummy to join preventive measures taken
happy.gif
I apply Yu Yee oil every day and eucalyptus oil if her nose blocked/ wheezing due to aircon/ rain or coughing.

Rc cola, sgpv,
same ... For my gal I apply Telon oil since brought her home frm hospital until now every time finish shower morning n nite. Only once she got running nose n it cos all adult at home got running nose.

rc, yes kids clinic needs appt...i call the whole morning and finally the nurse answer the phone at 11am...i told her my bb crying non-stop and needs immediate attention...she replied me say appt is full and PD is gg off at 3pm..unable to attend to my bb..so she ask me come for nite clinic 7pm...in fact i tried gg down before but they just refuse to let me see the PD...luckily flommy florence recommended her PD to me and i bring my bb to him at 12.05noon he attend to us immediately..they are actually closing for lunch..thumbs up for the PD and nurse there...they keep comforting me and play with my bb when he is in great pain and cant stop crying...now i just hopes my boy will feel better tmr
