wow didn;t know got so many playing shares. Yah me too, started monitoring since last year but only got vested in Nov. Between then and now I've been averaging decent pocket money every month so I shouldn't complain too much about the (argrgghhhh still pek chek) incident yesterday. Told my hubby about it and he was also shaking his head.
sportyger,
wow you are very lucky or should I say zhun. I made a loss on capland. Tell me about it man. I laid off the stock market in Feb, March and only got back sometime in April. Missed the new lows but thankfully still managed to sell into strength subsequently. Though I sold way too early. I could have made another 10k or so if I waited just two weeks more... hehehe ... which brings me to this point ...
Jo, sportyger, vivien,
there is going to be the benefit of hindsight which is obviously not the way it goes. When the price goes down, we don't dare to average down (for those already vested in the counter) cos we are afraid of more bloodletting. When the price goes up we tend to quickly let go in case London bridge starts to fall. Hahaha but ok lah. Like what my hubby always says when I complain a bit about how soon I sold (there was once my UOB gain could have doubled in one more hour) ... just count your blessing that at least you made money. I agree lor. In fact this financial crisis already gave me the unique opportunity to switch between ST trading and Buy-and-hold whenever things go wrong liao. I was too bullish before and bought mainly bank shares, now with baby out, I tend to go for penny stocks liao. I am esp fond of reits as I can benefit from both dividend gain as well as price movement. For property I was eyeing wheelock since it was 70+cents but too bad no guts to buy into property after my capland capsized on me. Hahah now it is 1.6+ liao.
Anyway. Am now holding on to McReit and GoldenAgri (both LS right now so am holding, no problem). SMRT as well. Bought LT ago. complete waste of my time cos it hardly moves. I prefer ST play if possible so no more defensive stocks for me. Then again, I might park some cash designated for FD into such stocks. Not sure lah. Shall wait and see for now. Am eyeing MIIF for now.
But hor, imho,my principle is always play with SPARE CASH which I don't need for the immediate 1 year. Never touch contra. And best to avoid shorting.
HUAT AH!
*lols, like hokkien beng*
