hello mommies, morning.

Can I ask hor, those using avent bottles, which teat are your bb using now? The one is 3 or 2 holes? Trishelle has just started using btl and she is 3mths, I gave her the 2holes teat and she make the click click click sound when sucking. Don't know if that means time to change teat. Haha.... Just gave her Fm, she only takes 80ml! Sigh. Small drinker I think. No wonder she only latch on one side at a time..

Phlegm. How do u know if bb has that?

I am using teat 2. Kayle also has the click sound. Apparently she is ok with the flow. cos sometimes she cant catch up the flow. teat 1 is too slow.
But trishelle just started using teat, maybe u want to let her try teat 1.
 
oh can also hear when he's drinking from the bottle, the swallowing sound. hee your little gal not small drinker lah, maybe not too hungry now. my little boy takes anything from 70ml to 150ml from bottle depending on wat time and when he last latch too

sung, I see. Cause when Trishelle burps after Fm feed hor, can see sticky stuffs, Aiyo I don't know how to describe but the output is kind of mucousy so thinking if might be Phlegm. Haha.... Think the click click sound is formed when her tongue plays with teat? I m not sure too but I remember hearing or reading somewhere that when u hear the click sound, might be time to change to higher level of teat.

Prosper, I gave her #1 teat she took very long to drink n drink until zzz... So I up to #2, finish in 15 to 20min but sometimes can see her suck till Sian Haha... I remember my #1 only used #3 when he was 8 mths Haha.
 
Hi cindy, a rule of thumb is when bb 1mth, 1 hole for teat...2mth...2holes...n so on...beyond 3mth, 3 holes etc...even though bb looks fine w drinking but more holes means e flow is smoother for bb n oso he wont take a long time to suckle as e milk gets cold fast...not good for bb...

milk bottles, i oso try pigeon wide neck teat milk bottle n oso hav those weird looking shape bottles tat claim to reduce wind...my my, such interesting designs...some look like banana shape/ease of handling...my bro even bought one that can regulate e milk flow w jus a click...wow! Hope to try it soon...hope bb does not resist when e design of e teat varies...

Coughing/Phlegm...to err on e side of caution...itz best to seek a good pd to set ur heart @ ease...asura...when my 1st pd failed to diagnose a pull of muscle underneath his tongue, my 2nd pd kinda chided us for not surfacing this problem earlier...jus wonder...if this tongue problem was discovered eariler, he probably would eat better n not get wind often in his stomach so often...well well well...such $$$ cant b saved lor...like i shared i noe of a couple whoze bb's ms drops to 60 ml / hrly feed...they don seem bothered, even though itz regular feed...

cindy, just see how's her comfort lor. If u think she is comfortable with teat 2 then stay at it is now. Teat 3 is too fast for their age now.
 
Phlegm...if bb got white phlegm...itz coldness in his lungs/yellow means itz heatiness...

Some bbs hav to extract their phlegm w e use of a tube inserted into e throat...tat will b very painful leh...

tusky n prosper, thank u. Heee. Will monitor n see How.... Tusky u are right. I realise milk gets cold very fast. Even she take 15min to drink which I think is ok, already milk is cold towards the end, so might change to #3 if I still continue to hear the click click sound.
 
hi all mummies, long time never log on cos gt some prob with internet and singtel come and fix for us , then busy with my little one cos nowadays she is WIDE AWAKE frm 8am till night 10pm!! She does take short 1 or 2 hrs nap in btw. THen she sleep like a pig frm midnite till 6am plus hiaz so tiring! So I tooka long time finish reading the long archives.

Wah Alfafa glaaad u are feeling better and njoyed ur milk bath,heheh...well I ganna once blocked ducts 2 days after ur place gathering, it is painful n no njoke, I very kiasi cos dun want fever so quickly went dwn to TMC parentcraft to clear. I cried as the lactation massage my breast to clear the hard lump, frm then on I diligently MASSAGE each pump and latching session, now thinking of the pain makes me shivers :p

BTW how do Mdm Ro open the 'eyes/holes'? Frm what I know, I already have 4 to 6 holes splashing out the milk everytime I pump. So isit ok? Or must open all 10 holes ah?? Cos I feel breast soft after pump and I massage to make sure no lumps whatever so it is ok rite??

Asura, hope ur little C will recover the phlegm, ya air is dryer there so make sure u drink loads of H2O.

H1N1: Haa..my hubby didnt say forbid gng out, I am the kiasi mum dare not go out now, then I ordered my hubby to bath the moment he reach hm before he can carry bb :p In camp he command ppl, at hm I 'commanad' him :p

Teats: I have been using pigeon rubber teats cos that is the closest feel to nipple, my gal dun like latex teats at all, Pigeon design is diff frm Avent, anyone using Pigeon rubber teats?? I try using the Y teats, she dun like it cos she will cry and spit out, so no choice gt to remain the 1 hole teat now, hiaz...

for me, i will pat boy over the shoulder, keeping him upright, he will burp n sometime vomit the phelgm.

sometime its gd to pat real hard, er.. meaning got patting sound.
my hb n mom always say i wan murder my boy, pat until so hard.
but i find that this is the best way for him to vomit the phelgm out.
 
hi prosper, if it is heat rashes, may can get e calamine lotion or e re fei shui frm medical shop...apparently they hav one for infants n one for grown ups...more minty...works qite fast on my boi...apply then a few hrs later, e red spots disappear...

I know what you mean. Ok, just to share what I do. Since I only pump twice a day, this is what I do. Morning after feeding baby her first feed of the day, I settle her and then I pump. This milk usually goes to the fridge since I know there *should* be sufficient milk production by the time she needs her next feed. For evening, I wait until I have settled the day's chores and then I pump. Usually at 11pm, thereabouts. For the last feed of the day, which can range from 10.45pm-12mn, I will give a chilled bottle of ebm. As much as I want to give her fresh milk with the highest amount of nutrients and antibodies, I reckon a chilled bottle a day is fine. Anyway, once I go back to work, she will be on mainly chilled milk with perhaps only 1 or 2 latch ons a day.

And hey, I do have my fair share of engorgement pains too! Have two very worrying lumps on my left now that refuse to budge with pumping. Just hope it will not snowball to something worse. Baby is with my parents' now cos I bunked in with them this week since hubby on work trip. I am back at home to clean up the place, do laundry, etc cos hubby will be back tonight and we are moving back tomorrow evening. So just pumped earlier and will see if I am in time for her feed later. Else, have to tahan till evening. eiks. Tomorrow is another day out without the baby.

No need pikkolo or beco lah. Your baby looks extremely comfy in the sling you used yesterday. Baby comfortable, mummy convenient, that's all that matters, right? ;) I have not gotten any of the above carriers myself as I have evaluated that I do not quite need them

fitti promo - previously they only had the promo for NB, S & M.. now extend to larger sizes thats good! shall consider if i shld buy or not... fitti cutting is a bit small... my 2nd sil who is not married is quite irritating... we brought kirsten ovr to visit on saturday.. so happened las min my mil was called to work... so only sil n fil at home... kirsten is quite particular abt her diapers being changed... sometimes even wet one time wil cry n cry for it to be changed... we were there for ard 2hrs and we changed her pampers like 2-3times... then my sil kept on "scolding" kirsten.. why u like to waste money... change pampers so many times... aiyo... not cheap u knw... then tell us nt to change so often... dn my mum who was with me told her wait get nappy rash even bigger problem... she was like wont la... duh... how wld she knw? she isnt even married... then she kept on saying kirsten so bad temper... shldnt carry her and spoil her.. blahblahblah... cldnt wait to get out of da hse -_-"

And i think after that feed, my gal starts to give my hb a huge grin when he comes back for lunch.. heh..

Charlene is getting better today. After i added another humidifier to the room and used lots of nasal saline spray on her. Hopefully she get well soon. She very chatty now, babbling and smiling with mouth wide open most of the time. Would upload pic in my FB when free. Unable to reduce the pic size here, got to wait for hb. Then hor, use so many camera to take pic.. need to combine.. very troublesome.. but would try to upload asap.
hahaha... remember at Alfafa's, my gal is so disinterested in other bbs? hahah... she not like that liao, the other day, we put her and another bb (7 wks older) sitting face to face each other... Charlene started babbling to the other bb and the other bb babbled back... lol.. wished we had a videocam when it happened... really funny.. there really is a bb language that only bbs understand.. wish we know also hor.. then no need to wonder wat their cry means. There's another video, even more funny... the other bb was crying very loud.. initially Charlene was sitting in her car seat, then she heard bb's cry and turn her head to find the source, the father of the bb walked to the other side of her car seat, Charlene turn her head to find.. really funny.. must get the video from the other mommy to upload..

My bb still on one hole even though she is 2.5 months old liao leh... cos she drink milk too fast, we wory that if we increase the holes, she might choke over drinking. By the way, any idea how often we should change teats and bottles? I am only using bottle once a day now... before I came over, we bottle feed her twice a day. So far have not changed teats or bottles yet.. so wondering..

I get blk ducts if i pump very often and latch very little. What i do is massage my boobs while latching. But do take care, if flow is fast, bb might choke with the massage.

And just to share: i read tt breastfeeding mummies are supposed to avoid veges like cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. I didn;t think too much about it and ate cauliflower for dinner ...
now my poor baby passing alot of gas and burping! Feel so guilty! :p

clio...they say spicy food too...asparagus, if i not wrong...hhhmmm...ginger may b good for us n bb; rem confinement period...? Pass gas is good, but not creating wind in e stomach...

Frankly speaking, after 1+ mth observing my bb, i conclude tat no matter how u feed w e bottle/burp/envt etc...bb always uncomfy w wind in e stomach...rather than avoiding this n tat, might as well give ru yi oil/gripe water n for me gastrogel often lor...itz a phase bbs go thru...they look like in great pain but muz grit it thru lor...

Phlegm...coldness in e lungs means bb's lungs not so strong...may not mean mom consumes cold stuff...but then it helps to b more mindful if u bf...if itz yellow, my mom says its due to heatiness...

teat...my bb 2+ mth liao n we use teat 2...initially a bit rushed but now he's coping better...

more on wind...hey, someone said that when we do fm, try stirring e mix w spoon rather than shaking it...seems like this introduces wind...
as for finding out if ur bb has wind, try to rub his tum tum w a hard boiled egg/covered w a small towel for a while..if black in colour means he has wind...bah...tink itz old wives tale but if u hav time no harm trying lol...

Hey ida, as long as your baby is comfortable in a sling u don't really need a carrier. For me, I don't seem to have much luck buying the right baby carrier. Bought an MIM sling which he rejected. Bought a baby bjorn which he liked but the head support button actually drop out! Despite doing a 1-1 exchange, the head support button actually dropped out again! Just bought a connecta last night and it got rejected by the baby too. Each time, I put him in and he will start fussing. Think my baby is really hard to please!

Btw, any mummies keen on a connecta? I really liked it but unfortunately my bb doesnt.

Ida, like you, I dun have carriers at all. Wanted to get a 2nd hand Bjorn, and almost getting ready to go down to view till I saw the negative reviews about it. Was telling my hb that it could be a blessing in disguise so that I can save that $100 on the 2nd hand carrier. I'm still sticking faithfully to my MIM sling which was hardly used during my #1 time. Although I still do not know how to use it properly, my domestic helper is using it to carry my bb most of the time and he looks comfortable in it. I'm only using it to carry bb while nursing in public by flipping the tail over to cover, ala nursing cover, heehee. So cheap carrier doesn't mean no good wor. As long as bb likes it and mummy is comfortable using it, why not?

Taking a breather now while my #1 naps. He has been very sticky, temperamental, emotional, and whatever u call it ever since the arrival of bb bro. I'm giving him almost 100% attention when he is around and I'm feeling so guilty towards bb now. I dun even latch bb on, except when #1 is either sleeping or in sch in the morning. Wanted to source for flashcards also slow in my search. Anyone self-made flashcards? I would like to, but doubt can find the time to do so and somemore, where to download flashcards similar to those GD ones? Has anyone ordered from Seabreeze on the logicbabe flashcards? BTW, how much is a set of original GD flashcards and where to get them huh? Any websites?

Think your sling has extinct already. But if I am not wrong, the Bayb brand (do a google on it. It is a parenting website which gets rejected by SMH if I post the link) also has padding just like yours. And yes, if not cos of the padding, I would have continued to use my MIM. In fact, I bought my MIM with the thought of using it for "the next baby" as well. :p I will still use lah. But maybe when baby is older and I use it for hip carry.

I think it is really a phase. My #1 sounds just like yours and yes, I give him so much attention at the expense of my #2, yet he is still unreasonable and cranky.

Ida, I also dun have connecta or pikkolo leh...just a self-made sling and one carrier my mum bought in China, cheap cheap one. I never thot to use carrier or sling until I came into this thread...haha..I like Sportyger's connecta but cannot bring myself to pay for it :p Anyway saw your BB sleeping comfy in your sling at the gathering and that's what matters, BB's comfort

Teat: I use Avent 1 and 2. Joyce makes the click sound when using either and she is 10 wks old. Anyway for my #1, I rbr I use size 1 til he was 6MO :p I also use pigeon and nuk teats cos I was told better to use a variety so BB doesn't stick to just one brand.
 
I'm tempted to get Seabreeze's flashcards, anyone? Thanks Tusky for the link, yeap, I printed out some to show my bb. He looks at it amazingly, without battering an eyelid. But dunno how long he can be entertained by it. Heehee
