(2008/12) December 2008 MTBs

hi louis mummy.. this is my stuff

1. normally what time u put ur baby into bed?
Reply: no timing, if really want to put her to sleep i will just sway her till she sleep, maybe about hmm 10-11pm

2. did u on the air-con? if u on the air-con, till what time u will switch off?
I on all the way de. hahah but thats for weekend.. As for weekday my mum usually on in the end.. and off during the day and on the fan. If the weather super hot, she will on the aircon lor

3. if u on the air-con, what is the temperature? and what ur baby dressing? and did u put on the blanket?
temp about 24 ba. baby dressing at night is long sleeves and long pants sometimes with booties... i put blanket after 30 mins when i put her down.. as i always carry her, she sweat.

4. after the mid-night feed, did u burp ur baby?
Of cus! but if she sleep when she half way drinking. maybe not. i wont disturb her sleep. =D

5. how frequent u change the baby diaper?
before she sleep I change... when she wake up in the morning then i change. If she in the middle of the night wake up and drink. I wont change. UNLESs she's cranky dun wan to drink then maybe i will.

Hi mummies! Talk about sleeping. David still hates his cot and refuses to sleep in it. He has moved from his yellow rocker to my bed now. My husband has moved to the floor

Mummies who are still latching or expressing: Have you gotten your period yet? These two days, I started feeling the crampy feelings and the mood swings. And my milk supply dropped like nobody's business! Very scary, supply drop at least got 40%. I wonder if it's because my period may be coming? Will the supply go back up after my period? Anybody know?? I'm feeling abit stressed now.

Re: Cloth Books
I received the books already but was surprised that some of them came in plastic wraps rather than a carrying case. However, the book seems quite okay to me (though I may not be too good at telling). Maybe different batch got different packaging. However, if any of you receive the books and are unhappy with it, please let me know.

Hi Spaghetti

From wad i know ur period will not come back so soon as long as ur still nursing ur baby....I have a friend who has stopped b/feeding but its been 4 months but her period is not back yet...But another friend where she got back her period just 1mth + after she stopped....So basically as long as u kip pumping/nursing u shd not be getting ur period back so soon..

My milk SS has also dropped tremendously but thats becos i seldom hv the time to pump oredy
sad.gif

spaghetti,
i'm on total latch on & my period already returned at 3rd mth, but last mth never come & this mth (5th mth) it's back again... supply drop? hmm... not sure ler coz i hardly pump...

fabbie,
rec'ed the stuff liao.. thks! romper is so cute.. gonna wash it tom so my boy can wear it out kai kai this weekend =)

spaghetti,
at least ur hubby moves to e floor! mine luv his bed too much, wanna put bb on the floor instead.. but this mummy bu she de, so i gave bb more of my space. hope i dun roll off my bed man! haha

realised many mummies here still put bb in cots hor. mine only used for a mth, after tt bb zz on our bed. he's also too tall liao, will hit his head when he turns.. so waste $..

Spaghetti:
BF may help to delay your menses. However its not a sure thing. You CAN still get menses even if you total BF.

When your menses come, you may experience
1. No change in your supply
2. A temporary drop in your supply
3. A drastic drop in your supply

Depends on each individual body.

rachel,

that's not really true. I amd exclusively latching on my girl and for my last 2 pregnancies where I also exclusively latched on, my period returned after the 3rd month. This time around, Calista is 5 months old and my period has yet to come ... I am hoping it won't till at least a year but I don't think so .. probably when I start her on solids, it will come ..

Cindy,
me too ... Calista sleeps with me
happy.gif
not in a cot.

pastillies, i received the wristlet last week! Hv not used it though..hb still do not noe abt it.

fabbie, received my goods todae! Zach loves the romper till he is chewing it..haha

thanks ya

evening all! Hmm let me add on to the questions from mommylouis

1. about 9.30pm

2. Usually just the standing fan on to the max unless its really hot, then a/c for the whole nite. Hubby doesnt like a/c cos too drying...

3. If a/c - 25deg, Avery usually just wear short sleeve t-shirt and shorts. I will put a patchwork cotton blanket from tummy to her legs.

4. No dont really need to burp her esp if she is sleeping. If got any air, she burp on her own the when we carry her upright to put into the cot.

5. Usually she change once during morning bath (she poos after first milk feed at ard 7-8am before bath), another diaper change in the afternoon. Last diaper last from 8pm (during wipe down/bath) till morning. We are using MP.. very good! So far no diaper rash at all.

Fong2 ... hmmmm that means you're 34 this year? Ya, have another one la .. quite cute to see them play together ... of course, they bicker and argue too la .. lol.

fabbie, actually i regretted not getting the ducky romper .. lol. it's cute too

Re: Gathering,
Aiya... will miss this gathering.
sad.gif
You all have fun.. post pix up on facebook ya? Heh heh

Re: Menses,
Still no sign of mine yet.. not exactly looking forward to it either.. :p

Re: Bb flipping in sleep
Aiyo.. my bb is doing it too.. and sometimes she flip until she is plastered alongside the cot bumper so awkwardly.. it is amazing she can continue sleeping. If i see i will 'adjust' her back on her tummy.

Re: 2nd kid,
I think let me get thru Avery's first year then see how. I want to make sure i can be a good mommy first :p

Sam - Ya lor, in another 5 mths + time.
sad.gif
My hubby going to step into his 40s soon. Dunno whether by the time our children get married, will we still be around or not.. Think too much liao.. haha..

Re: Menses
Mine hasn't come yet. Hopefully it stays this way until i stop breastfeeding when my gal turns 6 or 7 mths old.

Rachel - I used to stay at Dr 4 with my sis' family 10 yrs ago. My mother stays at Dr 6. I'll be at her place on sat evening till sunday evening. R u living at/near The Esparis?

Cindy
your bb is too tall for the cot? Did you buy from Ikea? cos I find the cots there really tiny. Cannot last long if bb likes rolling or flipping around. Mine is big enough cos Olivia likes to turn in semi circle sometimes. I'll wake up and find that she's spinned herself 180 degrees...

I considered co-sleeping with O but both hb and I are deep sleepers so its a danger to have her on the bed with us... could whack her with our elbow in the middle of the night! A friend who co-sleeps with their daughter warned that its very tough to get them to sleep on their own when they are older, so if possible try to let bb sleep in his own cot

Fong2,

that's why don't think so much abt it. JUST DO IT!!!
happy.gif
lol. My aunt had her kids late at 40 then another at 42. She now 52 and her son is already 12 and my aunt is till going strong bringing her kids up and down to school trudging thru the snow etc. (They live in Holland) ..

So your mid-30s is definitely more than good enough aldy

hi.. I'm a new mummy here.. would like to check with some mummies here.. when should I start taking my maternity leave?

I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant with one boy & one girl.. EDD on 1st Oct.. I'm just wondering that if for example, I'm going for c-sect on 9 Sept, when should I start taking my ML? should I start taking from 7 Sept or 1 week b4 or even earlier? The reason I'm asking is I dun wan to utilize my ML too early. In fact, I would like to start utilising my ML once I give birth & nt b4 babies are out.. so that is why I'm wondering since I already choosen the date of my c-sect, can I just start going on leave 1 day b4 my c-sect?

morning gals.. yawnzz

tamms,
yea, he cant really fit into e width of e cot. nt from ikea, but from taka fair. thk it's e normal size cot, but def those frm e smaller range. i m a light sleeper, tt's y i barely zz when he's in e cot last time. wld b jumping out of bed to chk on him everytime he 'eh eh eh', now juz open my eyes then go bk koon.. keke. yup, my frens warned me that liao, guess will have 2 do e training later, for now enjoy e closeness w bb first. he co-sleep w my mil too when he's there during weekdays..

sam.
for me, i also prob wont want any if i get older leh.. cant imagine running after a kid in my 40s, n still gotta work to support bb. zoe diff ah.. she has e $ to prob last her 2 generations. keke. hopefully can chop chop have anor one then close shop.. but hubby diff view.. oh well, maybe only 1 bah..

hi lynn,
congrats, so nice 2 have boy-girl twins! it really depends on wat u want.. have frens starting ML only frm e day they pop to max ML. for me, i started a week earlier to rest as advised by nurse so will have e energy to take care of bb (where ur sleepless nites begin!).. so tt week i did nthg but read mags, zz, do yoga, pedicure etc..NICE! =)

morning all.. wah.. so tired man.. arghz

lynn
congrats! so nice to have twins! long fong dai! since u are going to c-sect then take 1 or 2 days to prepare ya c-sect lor. if not u will waste ya ML if you take too early. But of cus if u feeling too heavy, just take more rest ya. =) for me. the later the better to take ML. so you got more time for ya kids. ^^

menses
mine also havent come yet.. infact im quite scare if anytime it will come and leak out!

sam
hahah if you want.. anytime.. cus i got ready stock for all those on my blog le. if you want. let me know ba. =P but then buy a size bigger for ya gal.. cus this one the cutting quite small and tight fitting ^^

those who express bm, can share which pump u are using and the pros and cons? me helping a friend to do some research before she invest in a pump. TIA

morning all!! Such a nice weather to sleep in. I can't wake up at 6am to bring my son to infantcare so todae he is with me now.. sigh. Pay money but seldom go..haha. Now I am regretting keeping him at home..he is crying for attention and I wonder how i'm going to pump milk later.
Fong, i m ard ur age too..though hubby is much younger than me..he is keen on having 2nd one n even dreamt abt it..sheesshh..i told him not yet, i m not ready for another one..

Morning all.

Fabbie, rec the romper. Thanks! Nice and cute but cutting small. My gal can just fit nicely for the 9mth ones. Hee.. next time must order bigger sizes.

Kath, u still have stock for desitin cream? If I rmb correctly, u still have stock isit?

oh no..then i must quickly let zach wear his cos now he alr wearing 9mths romper cos of the length..

2ndbb, i still hv leh.. how many u want? I got plenty cos i ordered again from drugstore.

Lyn

since you already planned the c-section, why not start ML on 7 sept, give yourself some time to reflect and relax b4 baby comes.

Spaghetti (spaghetti)

Apparently even if you are Totally lactch on.. You cannot miss the nite feed.

Eg , My bb sleeps through out means 8.40 to 5 or 6 am . So I have to wake up in the middle of the nite once to pump,

My friends who has at last 2 babies says that the dropping of nite feed is the danger one.. where you menses will come back and higer chances of being more fertile..

So give that a tot!..

Need to vent!

Infantcare
Yesterday at around 4.20pm I received a call from the teacher at infantcare telling me one of the teacher bumped Bryan's head against the hard wood panel 'cos he "was struggling" during feeding. This really infurated me 'cos I've told them on many occassions not to force him to drink his milk if he doesn't want to as he will sure struggle. But when he wants milk, he will drink his milk quietly and finished in 5mins. Worst of all the teacher who hurt my boy is NOT AN INFANT TRAINED TEACHER!!! She is from the toddler division and due to understaff, (now there are 3 additional babies so total 6), the centre just asked her to help out in the infant division!

I questioned the principle of the centre on how she could compromoise the safety of the babies in her charge with caregivers who are not trained.

I immediately took Bryan to our PD and he did a check on him. There is a 1/2 inch red line on top of the back of his head and this seems more likely that he was hit against a sharp angle. I've told the principle that I'll forward the PD's bill + my cabfare to the centre for refund. Also, now i'm home monitoring Bryan (24hrs) to ensure that he is all well. If anything should happen, you can bet that I'll definitely escalate to a court case.

So mummies who place your baby in infantcare, do check with the centre if the teachers handling the babies are infantcare certified. If not, they should only assist the main teacher, who is certified, and not handle the baby directly especially in sensitive areas like bath, feeding & diaper changing.

Sorry for the long angry post but I'm certainly very very very pissed 'cos I entrusted my son to the centre expecting Professional care and yet such breach of trust could happen. I've also contacted MCYS infantcare hotline yesterday to seek their advise on what measure could i take in case something happens and I'm still waiting for the officier to return call. Wonder how long I've to wait.

LuthAdel (luthadel)

Hey, Sorry to hear that and that what I was worried abt when I wanted to put my daughter into infant care or nanny..

Hey no offense not pouring cold water on you. k
happy.gif

My husband whoes mother used to work in infant care said that it depends on childcare, She never looked after her 2 kids, but when she was in the infant care section, they put her on for 4 mths and she was given the chance to look after 3 babies. So can you imagine the exp of the childcarer? even my MIL agree.. but she says people see carer not young ok alreadi..

Thats why I opt for nanny till my child is 18 mths then go childcare.. to learn.. Dont koe if I am doing it right,

All of us mothers esp. working mother have so much worries and difficulties ya? Heart Pain.

morning ladies...

brought my elder boy to nursery this morning but he was rejected & asked to go home as he is having a bit cough so the school really takes precaution to stop any children tat hav cough/flu from entering... thanks to swine flu... tsk! but my boy is pure asthma cough, and since he goes to childcare i hav heard him coughing so often... now mean tat he cannot go to school till he really clear from cough... but dun think it will be few days thingy lor...

fong2,
haha.. u think too much le, if u wan 2nd one juz go ahead lor... for us we got our 1st kid when my hubby is 39, and i always 'remind' him tat if my elder one is 20s then he will be 60s liao... hehee! but hor if only hav one kid then he/she will be very lonely one lor coz b4 my #2 my elder boy always come & tell me "mummy i'm so lonely coz nobody plays with me..." & now #2 is here already then he starts to ask other question like when can didi play with him... so i think closer gap will be better so they can grow up & play together...

pluf,
yes some said if u skip nite feed then ur menses will tend to come back early wor like my case lor.... bcoz i wanna train Daniell to sleep thru then i start to skip nite feeding when he was 2mths plus so in the end my menses came back in 3rd mth..

luthadel,
aiyo why the infant care like tat one, yes should claim the medical from them... poor Bryan, hope he is ok...

Pluf
Haiya, I just wanted to vent nia. I've already gave them a huge piece of what i think they've to improve + the consequences of messing with my boy. Anyway, I'm sure they will up their teacher standard now that incidents have happen and suay suay by a non certified teacher. They have to account for such matters so at least I still have my peace of mind. For me, I didn't chose nanny 'cos I know even if something happen, they will try to cover up and not tell us until we discover or question. Whereas in the centre, they're obliged to disclose and be transparent otherwise they'll have to worry about their reputation + licence.

Still, as long as our child is place in someone else's care, we have to keep both our eys wide open and have to keep a check on them daily to ensure that they're not hurt in any way, even a minor scratch etc must be highlighted.

LuthAdel - what centre is that? anyway, the auntie at A's IFC which is helping the teacher does not have a certificate... and she does help to feed and carry babies.

Luth
omg.. i hope that bryan's head is okai. better take him to see a doc. just in case anything..

2ndbaby
maybe shall order more rompers then gathering bring here to let you all choose than see is better hor. hehe

Thanks for sharing, everybody!

Pluf, I have been pumping diligently and latching on at night and on weekends. The supply drop very sudden leh and very sharp leh. Like out of nowhere like that.
sad.gif
Sigh. Gotta start fenugreek again soon if this goes on.

prepared to work beyond 62 to support my children..

so 34 still young lah..

luthadel,
you did right in escalating the matter. they'll know to be extra careful with bryan in the future. hope he is ok..

jowin,
thanks, got your mail. have added you to my bloggie list.

hi louis mummy.. my share..

1. normally what time u put ur baby into bed?
Between 8-8.30pm. Elder boy also goes to bed at the same timing. Now they're quite programmed already..will start yawning around 8pm

2. did u on the air-con? if u on the air-con, till what time u will switch off?
Nope, no aircon. Only wall fan on level 2.

3. if u on the air-con, what is the temperature? and what ur baby dressing? and did u put on the blanket?
baby wears singlet and long pants. singlet cos he is highly likely to have eczema so we need him to not sweat. only his legs are covered if he feels cold to the touch. if its a cold night (raining etc), then he'll be wearing a tee.

4. after the mid-night feed, did u burp ur baby?
won't burp. will hold baby slighly inclined and tap tap on his chest. if he's totally knocked out, then will just place him in his cot. he'll wake if he feels uncomfortable and needs to be burped.

5. how frequent u change the baby diaper?
Change before last feed, change before early morning feed (if he wakes for milk. i won't wake him for milk or to change diapers).

Juz
that is not right. Under MCYS' guidelines

"Infant Care Educarer"
Certificate in Infant/Toddler Care and Development or the
Fundamentals Certificate in Early Childhood Care and
Education (with certification in Infant /Toddler Care) or its
equivalent recognised by MCYS
• A valid First Aid Certificate
• Above 21 years of age
• Minimum two years experience in a pre-school setting

Shall be primarily responsible for planning and carrying out the day-to-day developmental and care-giving tasks for a group of infants/toddlers
• Shall attend to the health and safety of the infants/toddlers present.
• Shall supervise Infant Care Assistants"

Things like feeding, bathing & diapering is consider primary care area and the assistants or aunty not supposed to do tat. They probably lucky that nothing bad has happened so far.

Welcome !

i agree with Ade that IFC is slightly better cos if anything happen, they hv to inform parents.. like when Zach accidentally scratch himself, they will let me know the moment i step into the infant room.. but usually i will not say anything cos i noe my son is prone to scratching himself if he is frustrated.
However, other teachers are not supposed to enter the infantroom. They are like an aquarium or exhibit..living behind glass door and window and all the teachers are ICT certified and they go for refresher course every year.. so far the IFC Zach went is quite okay except for the earlier nappy incident but after i told the principal, they changed his diaper every 3hrs regardless it is full or not..hehe
happy.gif

hi LuthAdel,
i am sorry to hear about your bryan incident. is he better?

me oso got bad experience at infant care. my baby easily aggitated after feed. PD advise must burp him for 20 minutes and held upward for longer time after feed. n past 3 weeks he start to have rashes over his chin n chest. according to PD, tis is mild enzima due to milk din clean properly. she instruct us to clean him wif water and apply lotion every 45 minutes.

after me n my hubby care at home during weekend, his rashes seem gone. but once we sent back to infant care, his rashes come again n getting worst. i am so angry when i saw him sleep in baby carrier with wet cloth (he got lot of salivor tat mayb due to teething) and sore skin. his chin skin actually dry until come off! yet those infant care staff say they did apply lotion for him!

no matter how me n hubby take care of him, make his rashes gone, his rashes come n getting worst every evening when we fetch him from infant care. so now we stop sending him to infant care, temporary withdrawl for 1 month n my mom taking care of him at home. just after last weekend (long holiday), his skin seem recover well. no more rough skin n little bit rashes on chest only.

Mommies.....i hv just fed Jordan the Pear n Banana pureed from Heinz, for the very first time...he seems to like it cos he doesn't spit it out....however i hv tasted it myself and its darn sweet! Is it a good idea that i give him these canned pureed or shd i make them myself? Will he reject milk once he has tried sth this sweet? I dun wan him to develop sweet tooth!!

One more question, shd i burp him after feeding him pureed? Hehe sorry for asking these 'stupid' questions...
