Really pei fu you. I was pumping 3hrly for 2 months and I nearly went mad. Cos pump finish wash finish, havent even sit down kena pump again. It feels as thou havent rest. It's like being tied to the pump 24/7.

I pump 5 times a day and I want to give up. Plus my ger not wanting to fall asleep on her own at my MIL's is driving me mad. It does not happen at my own house. :'( My hb told me just pump until she 6 months, aft tat I can anyhow pump...

I heard fr my colleague we are suppose to extend the pump time 1 hr at a time (only lengthen when we feel comfortable) e.g. 3hrly to 4hrly to 5hrly to 6hrly until we only pump twice a day. Each pump should also not pump until empty. That will reduce the ss... If cold turkey dun pump for 12 hrs sure kena engorgement till need to eat the medication lor.

u r gd man! can pump so many times a day. I'm so lazy compared to all of u.. sigh.. now onli pump 2x a day, once in the morn & 1 more time in the aftn nia. Too lazy liao tats y getting blockage recently.. breast so paiful n hard but pump v little milk out. on the verge of giving up liao.

anyone can advise how to stop breastfeeding naturally? not sure whether i can drag the pumping time even longer cos recently can feel some sharp pains ard the breast even when i pump & massage

The pharmacist told me lar .. I never confirmed it with the doc. I never asked WHY danzen can't. I don't think danzen is a decongestion .. it's for sore throat to reduce inflammation as u say ...

When I asked the pharmacist whether I can take danzen, it was when I was pregnant. Generally, I know that what u cannot take when you're pregnant, you also can't take when breastfeeding.

I'm pumping exclusively now coz my gal dun really like to latch liao. Will latch her occasionally, then she will suckle awhile and look at me and laugh..then dun 1 2 drink.

Usually I will pump 3 times a day:

1)6am+
2)2pm-3pm+
3)9pm-10pm
Abt 8 hrs interval

Each time about 300-320ml, enuff for my gal,sometimes mix to my elder boy milk oso. Initially I took fenugreek and pump every3hrs and latch my gal, so it's establish my supply and slowly prolong the interval until now 8hrs which is quite ok.

Really tiring to pump and work. Lucky my maid is taking care of my gal at nite, if not very xiong.

i slowly lengthen my pumping hours from 3,4,5, n now 6hrly...Wait till i intend to stop.. i will drag more hrs...

i'm pumping between 11 and 12am at night as well but noticed that ss is decreasing! so sad!
how much can u yield during the night pumping?

11-12am.
now i can drag till from 9am to 5-6pm then pump. and my ss still the same! no reduce. haiz. and i always empty my breast. still the same. Hmmm

I can usually get 2oz during my night pumping. Not really a lot, but will be enough to top up for what I need the next day. My ss is really just enough for Emma. Estimated amount baby needs is 25oz of milk in a day and I can just about pump out 1oz for every hour that I wait. Meaning if I pump every 3h at work, I will get about 3oz.

you also have problems latching? My girl also gets distracted nowadays while latching on....She will drink a bit, then turn her head to watch TV and get so engrossed that she forgets to continue drinking...either that, or she will stop drinking...and then try to talk to me in between....faintz!!

Wonder if all other babies are like that. Dunno how to continue for another 1.5 months like that...

i read somewhere that during the 1st 4 mths, supply is driven alot by prolactin hormones.. after that, ss is based on pumping/latching demand.. so, if we pump/latch less often, ss will also drop..
wah, good that ur gal has enough milk to mix w/ solid.. i worry i'll have problem of not having enough milk to mix w/ solid if bb continue the same amt of milk intake daily.. have to pump doubly hard..

did u try supplementing w/ fenugreek or others before trying moti? did it work?

my bb also like that! he gets too distracted when i latch him.. wanna talk.. smile-smile.. act shy.. look elsewhere..
best time to latch is in the dark, where he couldn't see anything! :p

My girl is also very distractable now. It's just a phase though. If she gets very distracted, then I will go to a quiet room to nurse her or, if I'm outside, I will put a blanket over her head. These will help her to nurse better.

I tried fenugreek, was taking 6 caps a day, but I didn't really see a difference. I'm also taking mother's milk tea, and that helps a bit, but only if i take 2-3 cups a day every day. I try to take that during my work day, to help with my pumping, but I don't always have time to make the tea. Motillium is working for me - yesterday, after taking it for 4 days, I managed to pump out an extra 1oz. If I keep taking, it should improve. Should see the maximum benefit after 2-4 weeks of taking. I hope to eventually be able to increase my store of frozen milk and also give my girl a bit more EBM during the day, since her weight gain is a bit slow.

My baby is also like that and I was beginning to wonder if she like the bottle since She is at her nannies the whole day. When she comes back, she will latch on as if she is real hungry wildly following the nipple then drink for one min pull out and laugh and smile at me like ur bb redates , last evening she suck 10 sec pull out do a left right head shake then went back suck , then to the left right head shake like more than 10 times laughing all the way.. I myself dizzy if not she dizzy.

I wonder what does this mean. and the nanny said she drank at 630 pm and I am latching her at 830pm, do u think she wants to latch on but full?

She is 1 week to 4 months and for the pass 2 weeks since I started work she has been crying the min I give her to nanny for only 1 min then she ok again.. as if she really knows I am leaving like kena abandon.. Ah yo!!! so heart pain. and who says bb dnt know things or recognised people until 5 months. my nanny is very good but lucky I never follow her advise just leave my bb there in her house the day I go to work , dont need to bring bb to get use to her and her house... bb under 5 mths dnt know.... kekekeke yesterday she said my bb is the youngers bb she look after since 30 years that cry the min I leave her at 3.5 mths

well, my theory is that she misses my nipples!!

That's a phase of a baby bah..cos Zach is oso like tat for the past few days. He will latch for less than 5sec then try to sit up and throw himself back again to latch.. yes, he practically throw himself back..so i hv to be ever ready to hold on to his neck.. tis will continue until i switch him to my other breast. He needs to find a comfortable position then he will drink quietly and sometimes tat position is comfy for him but to me, he looks like a baby doing acrobatic stunt..haha
 
Oh danzen can't eat? Lucky I din take. Whole night I drank the allswell starfeuit juice. Also took cepacol lozenges. Now feel abit better Liao. I also think of reducing my supply but can't coz I was hoping to feed him for 1 year. Now I pump 420 ml at ard 4 - 5 hrs. I dunno if I reduce now later on need more then not enough.. Every time I open the kitchen cabinet n see the spare tin of friso tempt me to stop bf aiya so must come here to gather motivation hehe
 
dee, my pumping time varies and the yield oso varies..siao siao one..haha.

i miss the pump time yesterday at 6.30pm and started onie at 7pm but because Zach was crying i onie pump for 15minutes

pump 3x yesterday still short of 10ml for Zach's feed today.. i hope he cant feel the difference cos last time when i short-change him of 20ml..he actually cried after his milk :p

how much does Zach usually drinks?

before bb ZEE was sent to IFC, i never bottle-fed him so i didn't know how much to give.. but i just 'hantam' 4oz.. purposedly gave only 4oz bottle so that the iFC doesn't overfed him also..
the teacher said he can tahan for 3hrs..
last fed (latch) was 7am and in the IFC, they feed him 3 times based on 3hrs interval.. 120-125ml/feed.. and last bottle-feed is ard 4+.. so far they never said bb didn't have enough..

I usually pump about 15mins, can get 2 letdowns from my good side but only 1 letdown from my poor side.

From what I've read, if you don't give bb enough EBM during the day, they will make up for it at night when they nurse. It's called 'reverse cycling'. So don't worry about it. When I first started, I only gave Emma 2.5oz per bottle cos I was pumping so little! Only after 2-3 weeks, then my pumping improved and I could give her 3oz per bottle. Now, I'm trying to pump even more (plus my motillium) and aim to give her 4oz per bottle.

Also, when you pump, must try to pump all the way and empty the breast, so that you can get the hindmilk. If you only pump for a while, you may only get the foremilk and not enough hindmilk.

I really saulte to u on ur determination in pumping...I'm only pumping 1X during office hrs...no pumping when i'm home just latch on (i really hate to pump..stil got to wash/ sterlise / store, etc).
These days I also realise my supply has dropped...sian..but like wat snowger says, wil just try to keep it up for another 1.5 mths till my boy's 6mths...then after tat ...see how la..

same my boy super easy get distracted when latching on. U shd see how easily he get distracted when i latch him on during lunch time at IFC..there's those mobile stars hanging fm the ceiling..he will latch on awhile, then look at the stars...then sometimes the IFC will play nursey rhymes & the Radio is in the room where i latch, my boy will turn his head towards the direction of the music everytime a new song is played...latchin him on nowdays is like a 'battle".

dee, Zach is taking 150ml every 4hrs but i tink i need to increase his intake to 160ml or more liao..my pump session ah.. irregular output lar.. so meagre tat i dun wanna share..haha

Yep I agree it is a battle, And it also happens during the weekend when I total latch.. so is she drinking enough, I wonder? and my nanny says she drinks approxi 150 ml a session. some times 140 ml... she does not seem to drink that much from my breast I think..

My gal will suck very hard initially, sometimes even bite me, I scold her, then she will smile/laugh at me, aiyoh, so she only suckle for awhile then dun 1 liao.

She's taking 180ml every 3hrs, nite time dun wake up for feeds liao.

I only pump 2x per day:
once at 6am and another time at 8pm.

During the morning cn only pump ard 10oz and during the nite ard 12oz.

so i'm not alone... nowadays my boy also get distracted very easily when i latch him on... he always suck for few seconds only then start to pull off & smile at me... sometimes when i talk to my hubby or elder boy, he will also very kepo & turn his head & see us talking, and one more thing is nowadays he really prefer his fingers than my nipple... everytime after few second of suckling he will start to pull off & put his fingers into his mouth instead... sometimes i really wonder if he's drinking enough coz every session also like tat ler, somemore i'm on total latch on so i really dunno if he's having enough!!

my boy also like to 'bite' my nipples, the more i scold him the more he will smile at me then continue to bite even harder !!

btw, mummies if ur babies still poo a lot?? (for those on full BM)... recently my boy back to those days whereby he poo 5-7 times a day & it's everyday... i wipe & wipe until he got nappy rash liao, dunno why ler coz i already clean him with wet cotton plus using diaper cream le... sigh!!

my boy also like his fingers these day. he also kepo when we are talking and will say coo coo like wan to be involved in the conversation.

My boy have ecezma and i find that recently he like to pull his ears. Dunno is it cos he feel itchy. And he pull very hard then ear turn red and the like the skin abit tear like that. Have start to apply cream for him hope he gets better soon.

My elder boy also like that but is at the bottom of the ear my baby is at teh top of the ear. My elder boy feel itchy and scratch till bleed one. Worry my baby also like gor gor. Anyone have idea wat cream is good to cure the itchness?

My baby on 1x fm (sometime dun take fm at all) but he still poo once every 4 days. he let out alot of gas through the day.
 
u all so good..still breast feeding. I stop when my bb ard 3mth old cos my milk supply has alway been v little. So now bb on full FM.

Btw, seem like all the bb drink more than 120ml per feed lei. My bb only drink at most 120ml for every 3-3.5hrs. Seem like v little hor

Can check w u all how heavy is your bb when 4mth old? My bb now 4mth n she weight ard 6kg+
 
My BB is TBF and she has been pooing 4-5 times a day since 1st mth after her many times a day when she is new born.

Wow Your bb drink 180 ml... wow Touchwood mine gal has not bitten my nipples.. Dnt want it to happen... My bb also sleep through the nite... 830pm to 5 am, then she damn hungry .. and from 5am its the 2-3 hours feed. I concluded that if a bb drinks alots in the day and cluster feed just arround evening time.. he or she will sleep thru the nite coz full already am I correct to say that??

My gal poos abt 2-3 times a day, if she's din poos, she will feel very cranky. She's on TBF oso. I will clean her with wipes and then with cotton wool + cool boiled water and put Desitin Creamy.

She likes to suck her thumbs oso when she's hungry and want to sleep.

She sleep fr 9 pm to 5.30 am but i still give her milk at 11+pm.
Her weight at 3mth is around 6.70kg liao.

my baby's ear also like tat... like got a bit tear/cut behind his ear... it's due to eczema too but i dun think it's itchy coz i dun see him scratching his ear... so i only apply hydroderm & physiogel cream to heal it...

my baby used to poo a lot too when he was newborn until 2 mth plus then he stop pooing daily... tat time he only poo every 3-4days, however 2 weeks ago he starts to poo everyday again & each day easily hit 5-7times...

u are not alone! i also stop breastfeeding when my boy is 3mths becz my supply cant make it!

Since then he is on full FM. Also 120ml per feed..every 3 hrs.

Weight at 4mths is 6.17kg.
 
I also noticed that my girl will try to put in her fist while latching on.....i think if she can put her fist in while drinking milk she will do it..

one question, my baby is still waking up at night for feeds...now that she is 4 months+, when will she ever sleep throughout the night? will she stop waking up once we are past 6 months, and she is on semi-solids?

is it true that when babies are latched on, they tend to wake up in the nights for feed?
 
Talking about distraction, my ger oso get distracted every milk feed and she is drinking from the bottle lor. As long as someone is near by or talk to the person feeding her, siao liao. She will stop drinking n look to see wat is going on!

mine drinks 120ml every 3hrs. sometimes she siao siao, drink only 1.5 to 2 oz for her feed. She weigh only 5.5kg at 4months, so ur bb weight still considered ok la.

I oso used to have that sharp pain and kena punch at the breast type of feeling. Think it's related to milk production... :p Now and then, I still get those pain too... :p

rem to air the pipi dry dry aft you wipe with water. Cos dampness on the skin with the barrier cream can cause diaper rash leh...

not true tat latch-on baby tends to wake up for nite feed... my baby who on total latch on can sleep thru liao before 3rd mth (except last 2 weeks which he kept waking up 2-3 times at nite)... whereas my elder boy who was on FM last time only started to sleep thru after 7-8 mths...

oh ya i should try to do tat coz sometimes i lazy to wait so juz use towel to dry his buttock area after cleaning with water...

1) Put fist/ hands into her mouth & sucks
2) Now, she begin to suck her toes..
3) distracted while feeding.. I cannot smile at her cos she will smile back n stop drinking.. Or anyone beside talking.. she stop n look... KAYPO..
4) While latching, she can smile at me n milk came flowing from her side of the mouth.. LOL
5) Now she recognise her milk bottle / milk... when i m abit slower in giving her.. she will " eh eh eh eh" & grab to drink.. She can hold her own bottle now

I think babies on TBF will poo on & off. There are times that she can poo 6-7 a days.. then next day no poo at all.. Nowadays.. it lessen to 3-4 poo a day...

I m abit worry.. so now intend to increase her to 170ml...

Think now that our babies are more aware, their curiosity is making them more easily distracted, even when feeding time. Avery is the same, while latched on, her eyes will beo here beo there.. at the same time, tugging my nipple along when she turn her head this way and that. Thank god she has no teeth yet, or else i think my nipples would have dropped off already. :p

I am not sure how much she is drinking when she latch on (can be 10minutes or sometimes up to 30mins) but with the EBM or FM, she finishes from 150 to 180ml. Feeding every 3hrly.

Nowdays she sleeps from 9pm till 6/7am but i still feed her at midnite (FM) though most of the time she sleep through it and not because she is fussing. I wonder if that's okie? I was worried that she may not have enough at the 9pm feed (latch) and then wake up in the middle of the night leh. Do you all think i should just try letting her sleep through w/o feeding her at midnite? Hmmm...

Avery poos once a day in the mornings... think she quite regular. Occasionally, she may miss one poo for the whole day but quite quickly goes back to daily pooing.

My PD said its ok.. Ashlynne also sleeps from 10pm/11pm to 9am.. very long hrs and she miss 1 morning feed... tats why became 4 feeds... But PD said no need to wake them up as they have their reserves..I am worried if she taken lesser. So decide to increase her milk intake volume in the day..
 
tara, u r not alone. Zach wakes up twice every nite!! I usually latch him before I sleep which could be 11pm or 12am..then he will wake up at 2am or sometimes 3am or 4.30am.. it is all dependent on his timing. Yesterday he went berserk, woke up at 1.59am then 2.59am..but both time got scolding from me, i kinda raised my voice at him then onie he guai guai sleep without any milk until 4.30am..haha. it all depends on what time was his last feed if it is at 12am.. then i will ask him to sleep but if it is at 10pm or 11pm, i will wake up to latch him..

Hmm i try tonight.. and see if she wakes up middle of nite like 2-3am or not.. *cross fingers* Maybe will increase the amt at the 9pm feed using bottle.
