Kath,
dun worry, zach's condition is due to his allergy. this kawasaki thing will have fever one...i did a search & these r the symptons:
The usual symptoms of Kawasaki disease include:
-fever,
-reddening of the eyes,
-cracked and inflamed lips and mucous membranes of the mouth,
-ulcerative gum disease (gingivitis),
-swollen lymph nodes in the neck (cervical lymphadenopathy), and a rash that is raised and bright red.
The rash appears in a glove-and-sock fashion over the skin of the hands and feet. The rash becomes hard, swollen (edematous), and then peels off.
Just have to be real careful if there's fever that persist...

Female bosses: my boss also female & a real workaholic too. her boi is a month older than my ger, but she's lucky cause her boi start to sleep thru the nite till 6am since 2 mos old and she's got her mom to take care of her boi, oni bring him back when she's not working, whereas we've got to pick my ger on time from the IFC plus taking care of her at nite ourselves...

kath, for me, i also prioritize family first...but realli cant stay at hm & take care of my ger leh... i've been picking her frm IFC and taking care on wkend myself for the past wk... very sian, feel so cope up at hm with her...this week must go shopping to relieve some stress, hehehe...

You not keen on getting for ur baby? Coz I feel that getting for baby more impt. Thermal de so ex at shopping centers if no sale. If got sale, no size. For us, at least we have more choices. Furthermore, for us, sizing is more difficult coz after delivery, our size change liaoz.

So at the end i will get more breast milk. hehe so if u dun mind my breast milk i will make for u lor. ^^ if dun wan. then i store in my breast. till 1 day pump 3 times. If make more is 1 day pump more than 3 times lor. =P

hi..hi... all the mummies. i have missed the previous gathering, hopefully we will meet next gathering.

Kath, i can fully understand ur situation and also what our company style!!! that what i worried when i going back in MAY. at first i am in-charge the project which under my boss. but, somehow CCC (previously one of ur project PM) has escalated to top management to ask me to follow up her proj. u know how CC work, and how was her marraige??!! i am totally has pre-start work depression!!!

but, another way, i dun really want to stay at home and take care my boy, i feel stress too. especially my boy is super want ppl to carry aftrer trained by my MIL and SIL. now i have to carry him average every hour, due to he has very short sleep time, every 25 mins, he wake up and need ppl to carry him to sleep.
sad.gif
i super sian! due to i'm not the person who like to carry so frequently, its a bit of frustrated.
sad.gif

don't worry about Zach, i believe he will get well soon. pray for him. HUGS! ya, u can try to apply few months unpaid leave, unless ur boss said they cannot waiut for the head count. :S

Esthers,

BF only helps the babies to build up the first line of defence against viruses...it doesnt guarantee that babies will not fall sick.

Also, when babies fall sick often, it doesnt mean that their immunity is weak....it just means that they are often exposed to new/different strains of viruses and bacteria...

All the above, I learnt after speaking to my dr recently as I was concerned that my baby has been falling sick...now I know that it's because she goes to infantcare, and therefore is exposed to all the viruses that she falls sick often....

Also, one thing i noticed is that whenever baby falls sick, I will get sick too...and more often than not, I will get sicker than baby...Dr say it's because baby's immunity is not developed yet, so they will not fall so sick...Whereas, our mature immunity systems will fight against the viruses and therefore, we will get more serious symptoms.....

I am actually taking motillium for my milk supply. I find that it helps me to pump out more milk. If you want, you can PM me for more info.

Fabbie
I dun think it's very ex, leh. Think of how much easier your life will be. The handsfree strap that I bought from mumsfairy was already 20+ and it didn't really work for me. From this BP, the halter is 20+ and the tube is 30+, which I feel is okay. The halter is a bit more troublesome to use, cos must wear it like sports bra, whereas the tube can just zip up. I pump 3 times a day in office plus once at home, so I don't really mind paying for the convenience.

echo,
can motillium increase supply?
how do u know it has increase supply?
just curious coz am thinking of increasing supply as i heard that from 4mths onwards, supply is not driven by prolactin anymore but more by demand.. like that very siong.. sigh..

fabbie, u r very very kind! But i cannot take milk from u..cos i will then feel very guilty towards Zach cos his mummy is so lazy in pumping diligently for him.. if she had started practising during the ML time..then will not hv this problem rite? Hehe..

echo, taking all these is onie temporary rite? Will get side effect?

Santorini - actually i sometimes wonder whether my baby's immunity is fine or that he has not met all kinds of viruses yet or will wait till much later stage in life before having any symptoms. when he was newborn, i was down w flu & cough, only 1 to take care of him, sometimes have to hold him with one hand and wipe nose with another hand, but he appears fine. now he is in infant care and his surrounding friends do get sick, so far he is ok. i hope he is not going to be like me, keep having fever & tummyache from 4yrs onwards & have asthma (cough non-stop) 5-7yrs old.

Hi kath
usually pte company very tough for no paid leave..unlike the gahmen.. my friend who is a sch teacher, can unpaid for 6 months.. One of them even 3yrs.. cos she follow her HB to work overseas + her 2 kids..

Santorini...
Thanks thanks..I relieved liao..
I a bit streesed when my friend tell me that.

My boy is stayed home boy "zai er". But we bring him out often, to NTUC or neighbour hood for a walk.
Maybe he got the virus from there.

Thank you .. you brighten up my day liao..=)

Fabbie ah..
haha.. ur make milk theory very cute... u can store & store the milk.. if u wan more milk tat day then pump 1 more time ah.. kekeke....It dun work this way for me... 6hrs meaning 6hrs interval.. b4 the 6 hrs timing, i will get little milk lor...

Kath
dun despair.. Jia you.. U can pump out milk for Zach gradually.. Its just that u are not adjusted to ur pump only.

So actually now we can increase our milk supply by pumping more frequently? I'm trying to increase milk supply by eating more salmon, ngoh hee & black bean pork rib soup. So far, supply increase by abt 2-4 oz in total per day as compared to few months back.

dee/emeraldbride
I've been taking the motillium for a few days and I feel like I'm pumping a bit more already. My left side has always been producing much less than my right side, and Emma used to fuss whenever she latched on that side. But I find that she is fussing less now. For side effects, I haven't experienced anything yet. But from what I've read, side effects are mild and rare. Also, very little of it passes into the milk. Plus, it's safe for babies because motillium is one the drugs that can be prescribed for babies if they need it.

If you want more info on recommended dosage, where to buy, etc, you can PM me.

Hi mummies,
sory to disturb. Wondering if anyone is interested in California baby SPF30 no fragrance sunscreen? I have brand new, sealed ones to let go at $24. Pls pm me, thanks.

Last nite site down.. so all the stuff i type cannot post until now.. sigh.

Kath, See you on facebook!

Good luck on your talk with boss on the leave.. Even if quit, i am sure still can make things work. Like you say, just scrimp and save lor.

Re: sterilizing
Thanks for the article Jes.. food for thot.

Anyway my main reason for asking is also because i am deciding whether to bring my Avent steam sterilizer over to Melb with me. Its quite bulky la. Wish i got the pigeon one like Adel, at least its multi-use. :/ At the moment i am like echo, only sterilizing the bottles which i express directly into for Avery's next day feed. Some parts of the pump i also dont sterilize already cos there are just too many. Neither do i sterilize all the toys which she keep putting into her mouth (i just wash and air dry). But i guess milk bottles and teats are different because they come into contact with milk.

Sam: Saw your blog and linked it with Avery's also, hope you dont mind. Your girls are all so grown up now, so lucky!
happy.gif
Ya, my girl loves her pacifier. hahaha We didnt have to force her though she initially rejected the avent one, dunno why she took to the pigeon one almost immediately...

I remembered i read somewhere from some articles that breastmilk nutrients inside is unique only for our own babies. The breastmilk nutrient composition is cater for our own babies' requirement, it may not benefits other babies as much as our own babies.

Hence best is to try produce ourselves if possible. But its really taxing to pump and work at the same time....

Kath, jiayou

kath
orh okai.. if u want. just let me know. ^^ jia you in pumping more..

jowin ya if i pump 1 day more times. i will get more bottles lor. aiya. duno why my breast so werid de leh. im just lazy. thats why i store all in my breast. faints..

After 4mths, baby can take in some semi solid food, dun need so much milk already. So i suppose that's why the supply is more like demand basis

I really salute all the mummies who pump so regularly the whole day.... Initially i do get engorgement and have excess of milk cos Avery latch on every 2-3 hours.. but since i start work, my body is starting to get used to the longer interval before my bb latch, and hence not producing milk during that time.. Now when i pump at midnite, it is just enough for one feed to replace the one i miss while i am at work.. Makes me wonder if she gets enuff when she latch on also, if my body is producing less..

emeraldbride,
I know how it feels. I was tired up with work before, then miss my pump time. I was soooooo upset.

Lavendry,
I am not sure if it's the case since research has shown that nutrients are more or less constant. The content tat changes could be the antibodies... e.g. the BM will have more antibodies when the mother is exposed to trains of bacteria/virus.
happy.gif

Unless it is as per wat jo said previously, the nutrients will change according to ur babies age.
happy.gif

iemik0,
I got platform lah... but the water flooded my living room n the water seep below it... :'( hope won't have termits man...

Meridyth,
u oso buy the book frm the BP? me buy the first 3 books... haha

alamak snowger,
I recv the firstfood books after no reply no email nothing so I change the BP order to Feed your child right. What 3 books? U getting the birds n bees too?

sian today sorethroat..n I think got fever...coz of the weather argghhh....

Hi Kath
if u pump at every 2 hrs.. u be shack out.
U count the hours when u START the pump.. not when u finish pumping.. LIke 1pm... the next pump time is 3pm...This is 2 hrs interval.. How to withstand 2 hrs??? Lactation consultant recommend every 3-4hrs.. i think 4 hrs for u at a start will be ok.

Hi Fabbie
dun store too long.. will decrease ss in long term.. If u think pump 3 times a day is enough for ZY daily feed.. then pump 3 times will do lor...But for me, cannot.. every 6hrs i pain already...so i m on 6 hrs interval, Max drag to 7hrs.I wonder how i stop BF by dragging hrs

jo, if i stay home then i MAY be able to do 2hr pump but i tink my nipple will drop out by then..hahaha. These few days is still 3hrly from 8am - 8pm. other time is latching on Zach and then pump for 5minutes onie..cos at home wif zach is impossible for me to pump

emeraldbride
Like you, I'm also doing pump & latch, so I share with you my schedule.

7.30am - latch one last time before leaving house
10.30am - pump
2pm - pump
5pm - pump
7pm - reach home and latch
9pm - latch
11pm - pump (Emma will be sleeping by then)
1am - latch (and then continue latching until morning)

In a day I can pump about 10-12oz - not a lot but it's enough to keep Emma going. I also try to pump extra on my off days to top up what I am pumping on my working days. If you cannot pump enough, then it is important that you latch as much as you can when you are with your baby, so that you can keep your supply up and so that he has enough to eat. So you should not put him on a schedule when you are at home (i.e. drag his feeding time by giving him water/pacifier/etc) but just latch him as much as you can.

This is how I've been managing since I went back to work about 2 months ago. Hope this is helpful for you.

echo
I salute u.. I only pump 4 times a day , every 6 hrs interval n i m so sianz already... u can do it every 3hrs..I can pump abt 8-10oz per session. But now ss drop...Yesterday, it is till the extend that i have to take out frozen to feed my girl...

I only Latch my girl on weekend...But if i Latch her, i will still pump the excess out of my breasts...Double job...

Emma still wake up for feed at night?? U need to wake up to latch her ....very tired like tat..

Jowin
Heh thanks.. My supply isn't great, only just enough for emma, so need to be more diligent to pump during the day. For the night, we cosleep so it's not too difficult for me. I just latch her and go back to sleep. She normally wakes up about twice a night bit these last two nights she's going through a phase and waking up every two hours. Hope this phase will pass soon, though

Echo I admire your will n stamina.Nowadays I so tired even though I pump every 4-5 hrs. U can pump so freq. I m so tired till I get headache n now down with sorethroat n fever coz of the sleepless nights n weather . Damn Sian breastfeedimf can't take med.

merydith
I also hate pumping. For me, latching is much easier than pumping. So I will try to latch as much as I can, to minimise pumping.

It's not true that bfg cannot take meds. Like for your fever, you can take Panadol. Even ponstan is fine, cos I was prescribed that after my delivery even though I told doctor that I was TBF. You can also check this webpage for more details on what meds you can take: http://kellymom.com/health/meds/index.html

I have danzen pill for the throat inflammation . Keep pondering whether can take. My hubby ask me not to anyhow take. Thanks echo I go check out.

Merydith,

Pharmacist told me cannot take danzen. In facr, cannot take anything that had decongestant properties to it. It'll get passed on to the baby via your breatmilk. It'll make the baby excitable apparently. hahahah
happy.gif

sam
Oh dear I took danzen before. Thought it was only for inflammation? It's supposed to be natural, some enzyme or something. I know cannot take decongestant (like clarinase) but I thought this was not a decongestant. I took a couple of times, but I don't think it had any effect on Emma? Anyway I won't take it next time. Thanks for the advice!

Also, I heard that decongestants are also bad for nursing mothers because they can lower milk supply. These are supposed to 'dry up' your mucus, so they can also 'dry up' your milk.
