hello gals,
lousy weekend, down w flu n cough from hubby. so drowsy KO whole weekend. my poor boy zz sandwiched btw sick daddy mummy also started coughing abit. lucky PD says throat abit inflamed only, no need give med unless got worse. hope he gets better.
on positive side, he weighs 7.6kg at 4mths, 1 week old!

dee, sounds like the situation of urs..my maid like abit hurt..becoz when I was trying to find out more..I ask her izit she bully my MIL n if MIL really eat plain rice n never eat the food she cook...then I saw her eyes very red like want to cry..coz all along she tot her cooking is good.
yah I don't think IFC can fit into my plan coz if Randall really touch wood* sick n need to stay at home, I also need someone to help if I can't take leave n also scared of baby getting sick..heart very pain..
Actually I monitor my MIL for quite long already when I was at home, she basically can chit chat on the phone whole day very loudly n don;t bother about the baby cries. I think I really cant rely on her already coz me or my hubby try to tell her how to care for bb, she just brush aside say the maid know can already. She dunid to know. So we simply tell her just to watch n do nothing..then she complain boring.
Just now after much thought, I picked up the phone n call her. Tell her directly everything. I say cant feed bb with bread. She somemore can say bread is only small matter wat..why fuss, last time her younger son in her MIL care can swallow one big fish ball leh..somemore can boast to me! Piang. Somemore tell me she just play play only.
I lost my cool n scolded her
- if she know how to save randall from choking if suay suay something happen?
- why ask her cook she say dun want, ask her teach maid cook she also dun want..then complain abt the food n say eat plain rice with soya sauce want ppl to pity.
-can anyhow suggest to ask strangers to come up our hse n monitor maid
-call my maid a bully when she just ask to bring a simple towel.
n I told her no need to come already..she say if I trust the maid then ok lor..Then I reply her say I Have No other choice..repeated to her twice for her to get the meaning.
I think I am more worried abt my MIL doing somthing funny than my maid. My maid even tell her in philipines 1 yr old then can eat bread.
ehh..sorry if my post cause the clouds to be gloomy in here....just really angry n dunno how to vent.

i tell u hor, last Saturday when i was at my hb's unc's place, his kid abt 5yrs old was eating grapes oso choke!! Imagine a 5 year old kid with full set of teeth oso can choke on grapes, wat more a bb with their airway less than 5mm wide on bread! Dangerous lor..

My PD says to intro solids once a day... She is 5.495kg at 4 mths exactly. Apparently she is drinking too little lor. Eh... the PD says to intro Nestle infant cereal (1 spoon for 2 days, then increase another spoon every 2 days.). Must still give milk during tat feed until she is able to finish half a ricebowl of cereal. She oso say can give roots (i.e. pumpkin & sweet potato) cos no allergy. Porridge, fish, meat & fruits only can give aft 6mths.
I asked avocado, she say oso aft 6 mths...
hehe... all the girls can pick up a thing or two from here...
Re the book are u all going to buy from the spree? I haven't buy yet and my gal is starting on solids liao...

Try telling ur MIL tat it is the garmen say bb can't eat solids so young. Their digestive systems are not fully developed and like wat echo say can get allergy one leh. and allergy can't siao siao one...

It's me!!! I haven't logged in for so long...so many things have happened.
Preston is now about 4 mths & 2 weeks old. His weight is 97th percentile -- 8.9kg & 66cm long. From May onwards, he'll be going to infantcare cos my MIL decided she can't cope so she prefer not to take care of him anymore. Sigh...
How is everyone?? I haven't started Preston on any solids yet. Not sure when i can...or how to tell whether he's ready.

agree with snowger! Juz show ur MIL what happen to Zach!! It's allergy and see the big red patch on his chest? It's itchy n he scratch till the skin chaffed..so painful ok (i mean my heart lar i dunno if he feel the pain or not..haha). Shuld show ur MIL my bedsheet when Zach was rubbing his chin on it..all the 'juice' mark.

My baby gal is also very light weight! She weighs 5.43kg at 4 months old. PD also mentioned she's small and not drinking enough coz sometimes she prefers to sleep. She mentioned I can intro Nestle rice cereal as it does not cause allergy. Can try soft fruits like papaya and banana too.
These few weeks she has been drooling alot. When do babies normally start teething?

Actually I already told her that PD says cant take solid,will choke, have allergy etc when she wanted to pop the chicken piece in randall's mouth during a buffet outside last time.
I feel probably my MIL is not very bright but very daring to try. Even after I tell her about the chicken can cause choking n mati..she also like dun bother to listen..say she one month old last time already eat porridge. Never drink milk liao.
Somemore tat time scold my randall for nothing in the cot asking him to go n sleep. Then a few seconds, pop the head again causing him to startle n scold him asking him to sleep again. That time I just keep quiet..thinking how can he sleep when she keeps coming n scolding him to sleep? Never even carry. Somemore want to beat his backside when he still open his eyes wide in the cot...

Sorry can roughly advice me what is the main difference between 5-in-1 jabs and 6-in-1 jabs? One more jab is to prevent what disease?
The nurse has explained before but I really forgot about it.
My colleague said she got the 5-in-1 jab and took the Hep B separately cos she found out that this combination is cheaper than the 6-in-1.

ToaPayoh kiddy palace is the biggest. Why not get a cot from randy? Quite a few of us bought from him..
Actually, i don't think you'll need a cot come year-end. I'm planning to move my boy to a normal bed when he's around 13mo..once he is confidently mobile. Moved my elder boy to a super single bed (with guard rail) at around the same age too. By then, normally the cot is not big enough for our little kiddos.

I was just browsing thru Aus Target's online catalogue and they do carry all the familiar brands of infant/toddler stuff (e.g. Avent, Nuk, etc). Have you ever been to Melb before? This is my first time staying long term there... other times i am just visiting my brothers who had studied there for a number of years.

Yap.. much has changed in Melb esp with the influx of immigrants from korea, india, vietnam etc according to my frens there. Will probably have to ship some stuff because i dont think we can load all our stuff plus bb's in one trip. My parents went over recently and brought some of bb's stuff over and its already 2 big suitcases! So how long will u be going for?

As long as ur hubby is on your side and i think you have been very reasonable already. I noticed that some older folks always like to say that what they did last time worked well etc etc but it has been ages since they had taken care of kids, not sure if their memories even accurate already. E.g. how can 1 mth old be eating fish ball?
I always tell my mom that she is suffering from selective memory loss because she would never admit that she, as a new mom last time, also had the same fears and did some things 'wrongly' too. The older folks already had their chance with their own children, so now i am "fighting" for the rights to be the Mother of my own child. So decisions pertaining to the bb shd be the call of me and my husband.. NOT the grandparents etc. The sooner they can undst that, the better.. sigh.. thankfully my hubby feels the same way.

Think 6-in-1 jab is better. I tried not to bring my baby to clinics/hospitals often as she had meningitis before. Now better be safe than sorry...

ya loh.. older generations.. the worse part is, probably they couldn't even recall much of their baby caring at their current age now.. and then they'll listen and follow what other (kei-khiang) old folks' advise as well..
even when we tried convincing her what doc said also sometimes she refuse to listen.. sigh..

I also not sure where she got the viral infection from that led to viral meningitis. It happened during the 1 week school holiday in March. That period, all her cousins were down with flu. So when she had fever, I thought it is the flu that caused it. When I brought her to KK then the doc wanted to do spinal tap and from there realised it's meningitis. But couldn't confirm if the meningitis was caused by bacteria or virus. So have to stayed in hospital for the 48 hrs lab results. So it was viral meningitis not as serious as bacteria meningitis, then she was discharged.
So now I'm really careful, even if I've to offend my in-laws, I will make it very clear that all sick children must not come near my baby.
Now my baby is ok. Looks cheerful but her appetite not as good as before. She used to drink 120ml FM every 3 hourly. Now, at times, can't even finish all every 4 hourly.
