alison..then u hv no choice but to close one eye or 1.5 eyes lor. i dun like to keep carrying zach one leh.. later he will get used to being carried and dun want his stroller or car seat then jia lat leh.i always tell my parents not to spoil market..if wanna play wif baby, the best way is to let him lie down or sit n play mah. Carry the baby how to play? Dont make sense rite?

hi kath, so, now how zach sleep if he not carry. ya. recently baby louis dun like to sit stroller and car seat!!!! so last weekend half way shopping, he keep crying ask for carring, end up i stop the shopping and go back home! and he also doesn't like to guai-guai sit inside the car seat. so, u can imagine how angry and upset i am.

now i dunno how to change back his habit, anyone has any idea that can train back the baby sit guai-guai in the stroller and car seat? let him cry? sigh..

Wah.. i also wan to stay at home and look after my kids. unless my hubbie is earning so much that i think stay at home also fine! we got to work and earn money for our children to have better future. so i guess to be a SAHM really quite hard sia. But i hope. when i have my no.2 or 3 i can be SAHM liao. i just pray my hub can strike TOTO! Muhahaha

Online business I dunno whether can earn much or not. Even if can earn, I doubt I can earn the same amt as my current salary. I've always only organised BPs for Nov mums and friends. So its only BPs for things I need myself only. No profit.

Nvm lah. Can dream to be a tai tai. Dreaming is free.
 
i m a bad mummy.. if he wanna sleep at home, he cry, i will put him in his yao lan. If at nite he cry, i will turn him to his side and pat his buttock and keep telling him sleep sleep.. if outside shopping he wanna sleep, he noes he got no choice he will sleep in his stroller. if inside the car, he will sleep in his car seat. I never carry him to sleep and I hope i dun hv to resort to that.. but zach always like to fuss when we are having dinner. Must be seeing us eat and he dun get to eat so he will fuss. So now we will feed him first then we eat. Only this way he will play on his own in his stroller. the way to a happy baby is a full tummy!

I also wan to be SAHM but i hate to take $ from HB.. later buy wat also wanna ask him.

But somehow,i feel tat it will be good to be a SAHM when Baby is young till abt to go nursery...At least can teach them things & oversee their development. After tat, we can return to the working force.

But income dun compromise tat leh.. Without me working, we have to sacrifice some shoppings, tours etc for the baby. Abit tight lor.

that's not being a bad mummy la .. it's being practical. I also always feed all my kids first .. never wait till they're super hungry or else meltdowns .. ie crying, cranky etc. sian.

I also try not to carry first. try other ways to get her to sleep. funny thing is when my hubby driving and I'm sitting next to her .. she will sleep .. if I drive and my maid next to her, she will cry cos she knows my maid will instantly carry.

jowin, i agree wif u! If i dun work, i cannot buy stuff for baby Zach liao. Now I buy everything for him leh.. :p and if i dun work, i oso cannot anyhow spend unnecessarily.. which i m doing it all the time. *guilty* and i super dun like to take $$ fr hb.. but i dun mind living off my parents... muahahaha. I always tell hb, i will be a SAHM if i hv a 2nd kid n i dun hv a maid! But if i hv a maid, then i hv to work but i will resign if he can climb up the corporate ladder to a higher position..hehe. but i never dream of striking ToTo cos i never buy.
 
hi kath and sam, if not carry the baby sleep, does ur baby cry if he/she cannot fall sleep? baby Louis will cry if he cannot sleep, he can cry very fierce. last time i can just pat him and he will fall sleep, nowadyas after the 1 month trained to carry, he doesn't want to pat. HELP!!! i feel so frust when i have to keep carry baby louis to sleep or i can't go shopping now!!! anyone has any idea?

Life is btr aft I moved to my MIL's place with baby. A bit paiseh to let my IL bunk in with the kids without proper bed for them... They gave up their rm to us... *extremly paiseh* Nicole (my hb is still half hearted on changing it) is ok lor... :p

Initally, I keep yaking at my hb to tell MIL not to keep carrying her the entire day. Esp patting her to zzz. So during the initial period, my hb is the one who reminds/nags at her. I think this is easier so tat mil won't feel so offended (esp when we are first time mothers and mil will say they eat more "rice" than us eat "salt").

I think my hb has more power than me. He hug her she will stop crying liao. Makes me so jealous - how come i dun hv that kind of effect? :'(

My house downstairs got one small organic shop tat sells fresh organic produce. If not wrong, there is one shop at chinatown tat sells fresh produce (organic).

I personally won't be giving her organic fresh produce cos diff to buy n expensive. But if I happen to shop n see, I might give her some. I oso wan her to be "used to" the non-organic food which will most prob be 99% of her intake in future. :p

so thinking of doing some home based job so that i can stay home take care of my girl and earn some $ at the same time.

hi snowger, now my baby dun let my hubby carry before he sleep. so that why i so frust, i almost has to carry baby louis sleep for 1/2 hour. i worry that after i start work if baby louis still only looking for me to carry, then i will suffer. and i will heartbreak if see he keep crying.

this whole mth got pampers sale mah u never buy & stock up? last week carefourr has 'baby fair'... i bought 2 boxes of L (L38 X 2packs each box) at $59.90 & got $5 discount ler so end up i only paid $54.90... very worth it! btw the BP price also good too...

it's a bless if there is someone helping us to look after baby so u can go out & work, but of coz u hav to close one eye & accept the way they do lor unless end of the day u decided to quit the job & look after ur baby on ur own...

last time my MIL helping me to take care of my elder boy & tat time i also has a lot of complaints coz the way i wan sometimes is diff from wat she was doing... but now come to think abt it, i was really lucky to hav her (tat time) coz when i really tired & wan to take a break, at least she was there to help... now my life has become completely diff after my MIL passed away, now no more 'ME' time anymore coz no one will help liao... sad!!

& me too having the same prob... recently my boy also cannot sit still in the stroller... last time no prob one, coz when go shopping he will guai guai sleep in the stroller, but now keep wanting ppl to carry... juz now i went to kinokuniya wanted to search for some books but he kept crying, so in the end i boh bian got to leave the shop coz too tired to carry him on hand... sigh

When zach starts his toddler session (after 18 months) i will not be cooking special stuff for him liao lor. he will eat whatever school provide. mabbe let him bring snacks onie..

cannot leh, they say IFC cannot bring in outside food cos non-halal..I tell them i not preparing pork in the food, but they say also cannot, cos its not the food contents, its the place of preperation...

.no la, not tt i dun want to let bb take IFC food, but i just want to slowly introduce different type of food (like wat the wholesomebabyfood suggest to test any allergy). Only after i test out the different food then let him take IFC provided meals.

hee no kate spade la..i only intersted in COACH, so buy for myself..haha then end up getting quite a few extra pcs.

just reading about being a SAHM here and having family support (e.g. MIL) in caring for baby, felt like sharing my situation also..

my ger is coming to 4mths and i've send in my resignation after my maternity ended. Actually i am freaking apprehensive about being a SAHM after i finish serving notice at work at the end of Apr. It must sound crazy to most people because not just me going to be off work, but my hubby also because we will be moving to Melb in May for his studies. It is scary just thinking that 2 adults, not working, no income and moving to a place where we have not relatives. Sometimes i don't even believe that it is what we will be doing.

That said, i am also trying to look at the brighter side of things.. like having more family time together etc. In a way, i am also glad to be away from our families and all their 'helpful' interference. Like some of the mummies here shared, sometimes the way the older folks take care of babies is not the way we would want it. I always get 'well meaning comments' from my MIL about my baby which makes me feel as though i am not a good mom. That' really frustrates me because i also don't want to 'talk back' to the elders esp when they are just being 'helpful'. My MIL likes to remind me that she has studied how to take care of kids (she used to work in child care) but seem to forget that I am trained as a child psychologist who work with all types of kids. I guess being a DIL means i am never good enuff a mom for their only grandchild lor, despite the fact that i am doing everything for the bb since day 1. :p

Sigh. Anyway... just venting. Sorry ah! Hahaha expressing milk now so got time to type :p

Sigh,, yes, i do agree that old folks n our way of looking after babies are so much different. For me, my mum is looking after for me.. N naturally there will be some disagreement.. N i will sometimes close 1/2 eye as long as its not harmful to baby. My mum also learn alot from me too. Especially nowadays breastfeeding become so important &amp; what organic food etc etc. She is not a pantang person.. sometimes just some myths that she will mentioned la..

Lucky my baby is not being taken care by my MIL or i will definitely quarrel with her alot.. She is a real pantang person and follow alot of myths.. I do not think her ways of looking after a baby suits mine.. hard to close 1/2 eye but to open 100% instead. "Imagine she just told me.. Ur breastmilk not nutritious enough la.. thats why your Baby girl 's hair came out patchy"

N also to me.. she is the last person that can comment on my daughter's hair cos she forced her to shave away because of some pantang matters....N she made me cry daily during my confinement n after for about a month.

Just venting too.. me expressing now also.. hahaha!! Sigh.. today overslept again...Going to be late for work.

Ya.. i dun think i regret deciding to be a SAHM, esp when my bb is still so young. Guess just abit nervous abt it la. You r right, bb do need me now, financially just mean we have to be more careful and less 'luxury' for ourselves for the time being lor. Esp with $$, you will never know if someday there will be emergency that need you to fork up more $$ *touch wood*. If need, i may just do some freelance, part time work after bb turns 1yrold.

Sigh, at least you dare to quarrel with your MIL. Now that i am working part time to serve notice, both my mom and my MIL (she comes over)are looking after bb in the afternoons when i work. At least my mom already know my routine for the bb, and like your mom, not a pantang person so if anything, i can straight tell her. But my MIL cannot la, must think abt my hubby and his r/s with his family.

Already his mom already thinking that her son is going to 'migrate' overseas because of me and taking her beloved grandchild along. So if i start to say her, she will just get all emotional with my hubby. Makes things worse.

Cos i Know if i m going to face her daily..quarrel sure arise lor. But sometimes i guess my tolerance level is VERY HIGH.. to the extend that i cried daily during my confinements.. i still no quarrel with her .. All because.. i m giving my HB face. Not because of him, i long ago wanna slap her for all the things she did to my parents. Talk abt her.. makes my blood boil everytime.. hahaha!!!

U going Melb then she say u.. We did not even leave SG.. I already scolded by her for snatching away her son....

Can I ask advice on how to slim down? A lot of pple still commenting that I looked like I'm pregnant again. I look like I'm about 6mths pregnant.

I have already resumed exercise. But coz I'm working and go home also need to take care of baby by myself, I can only exercise once a week. I have got a 3 sessions with Personal Trainer to start off. Seems that I'm not able to perform a lot of exercise, as I have a lower pelvis injury before.

I have sticked strictly to 3 regular meals, and cut down on carbos.

Basically nothing works, I didn't lose any weight or slim down from 1 week after I have given birth. I still feel clumsy n tired.

Anyone knows of any powerful of way... sure will lose weight? I see advertisements of slimming stuff &amp; centres. not sure whether they work... but they r kind of x.

Have you started working? Breastfeeding? I find that breastfeeding and working did help me regain pre-preggy figure. Although I have some extra preggy weight left but its not really noticable. I think the weight is at my breasts. Haha.

What about Malay massage? Did you do that?
 
Fifi - i started working. i stopped breastfeeding when baby is 6 weeks. during the 6 weeks, i also didn't lose any weight. i did have malay massage, lose abt 3kg. but i gained 17kg in total.

jowinbaby - ya, but personal trainer did tell me that she will be doing more of rehabilitation exercise with me, coz of the strain i have at pelvis area. not so much of those exercise which burns fat. i'm determined to lose weight, coz very insulting that everyday pple still asking me about why i still look pregnant or whether i got pregnant again.

mayelynn - before 5pm eh? but i should be quite busy at work.

my friend who's losing weight quite rapidly is exercising and staying off all carbs and sugars ... she eats meat but no carbs at all .. or sugar too. very effective leh. she's lost about 12 kg in about a few months.

I personally don think i can do it .. i like my bread, pasta and rice. lol.

Some ILs are great lah. Like mine. They are so nice n chin chai... I guess the theory abt marriage is not about just between u n partner, it involves both families still holds water even during marriage life... Differences will always exist.

Like last nite, my MIL "snatch" my ger from me when she starts to fuss/cry. Then she tells my ger "Mummy tired liao lah". I am like "What!!!!", I din even say lor. I dun get a chance to calm her down or bond with my ger (since I am pumping when it's feeding time!). Then I get super duper upset I tell my hb "dunno if this is my daughter or not". *Darn*

sam - for carbo, i cut down by half to 2/3, but last few mths didn't lose anything. before pregnant, this method still can help me to slim down a little. now like useless.

Snowger - and how much is herbal life...? sometimes i don't get it eh, pple manage to pump fats away, even with short breastfeeding period. i don't get to slim even a little during that 6 weeks.

Wow.. i think those comments made about weight are quite insensitive. Esp when they know that the person have just given birth. Since you are not breastfeeding anymore, i guess it is okie to go on diet etc. Before pregnancy i used to take slimming pills etc to maintain my weight but i wouldn't recommend that to anyone now cos it is only temporary and there are always side effects.

In the end, you want to lose the weight and maintain it, not go into some yo-yo effect which is what crash diet would do.. what help me was regulating my diet e.g. 5 small meals a day and nothing after 7pm, limit my sugar intake (e.g. sodas), replace all my tidbits with fruits/nuts/veggie sticks. It is better to eat regularly in small amts than starve and eat alot because that will regulate your metabolism.

And in the meantime, exercise! Even light ones such as going for a brisk walk (30mins) in the evenings. Moderate exercise is impt because we will tend to lose muscles first before the fats while dieting so if you just cut back on food w/o exercising to maintain your muscle mass, you will find that the pounds just come right back after your diet stops.

Well, that's my two cents la. I am still trying to lose that last 5 kg to reach my targeted weight... so dun give up ya? All the best.
 
Afternoon everyone!! I m super duper tired after i started working. How come no one ever mentioned that being a working mom is so so so tired?? I have to wake up so often despite sleeping onie at 12midnight and after work gotta rush home with baby, clean him up, feed him, let him sleep, wash his clothes, wash hb's clothes, wash my clothes, clean zach's stuff, pack for tmr, make sure got drinking water, etc etc etc!! Dunno how long can i maintain this man.. :p

Speaking of losing weight, i realise the last few kg is so so so stubborn to lose! I still hv 3.6kg more to go..and it was there like for 2 weeks liao lor but i din eat less lar. I still eat my pizza, pasta, cheese so often. I tink June onie i can start going to my gym..now breast very heavy dun tink can do any exercise.. hehe

snowger, me face the same thg too! bb also kena 'snatched' away &amp; pass around, me as mummy gotta 'q' up to carry him =@, but am still v thankful that my in laws &amp; parents are great support to taking care of bb. In fact, they so super pro-bf tt keep asking me y ss so little. make me so stress last time, lucky they never 'blame' me outrite.. keke

sam, me LUV bread, pasta, noodle.. can skip rice anytime but not those

Juz, me opp of u leh.. lost all e wt I piled on during the 2nd &amp; 3rd mth coz taking care of bb alone. no time to eat, usually breakfast n lunch just munch biscuits/bread. Only proper meal is dinner which hubby ta bao back after work (also nt v healthy lah). BUT hor, dunno y my appetite now increases. I wolf down food amts like back to preggy days, even guy frens r amazed.. so I am piling bk the fats!! ARgghhh!!
 
emeraldbride, yes yes!! coz we doing 2 JOBS now mah. realised I m more tired now then when i taking care of bb alone. though my boy stays w in laws during weekdays, we go over everyday after work. so effectively, we are out whole day everyday. go bk do abit hsework, wash up, can totally KO thru e nite one.. now 3rd week into work SLIGHTLY better, but still zzz
 


Mummies,

Besides bumbo seat, what can we buy to let baby sit up or stand up. My baby girl loves to sit up and stand up but she has "bigger" thighs, can't fit into any bumbo seats.
