emeraldbride, I make a couple of ham & cheese sandwiches in advance and store them in the fridge. When I'm in a hurry, I pop one in the toaster oven and make milo.

Fabbie, I used the MIM sarong sling when I went out to Compass Pt the other day. Can practise a few times at home first when baby is in a good mood before you venture out. I guess a sling or carrier is most convenient if you are alone and don't have strength to carry the stroller.
 


bubble, u r so lucky to hv ur mom n sil to help u out hor.. how come u never bathe ur bb?? then how u going to bathe bb when u go back home??

spag, my hse onie got microwave but i alr ban it to the store room liao cos kitchen super small, no place for microwave. No oven leh..i also like to eat ham n cheese sandwich. Oh btw, can we eat tuna??
 
emeraldbride, haha...then put the sandwich over a hot mug of milo loh. Can lah...but try not to just rely on biscuits lah. You're breastfeeding, so need to eat more. Worse come to worse, order McDonalds or KFC :p

Sam, how do you get your baby to sit in the stroller? Or is mine just weird? Dun want to sleep in cot, dun want to sit in strollers....I want to sit in a restaurant and eat properly leh!

Studio Loft at Chinatown is having CNY Walk-in on 12th n 16th. 2 edited photos for $25 only. U can see some photo taken at Oct n Sep thread. I am bringing my baby there too. I intend to take 1 which she sit upright on sofa n another with her head lifted up during tummy time.

Anyone interested? On their website, they say as young as 5 days old baby can go there take photo liao. Cause seems that some of u are interested to take photo of ur baby.

never mind if bb's passport photo look fierce coz u still hav to change his photo again once his face changes... for my elder boy we did his passport when he was 6wk old then later we were asked by immigration officer to change his photo when he was 2yr + coz totally different look liao

i quit my job when i expecting #2 thinking of taking care of them for the 1st few years but now a bit regret & i rather to go back to work... hehee!! but now of coz cannot already coz my MIL tat used to look after my #1 has passed away last nov so now i got no choice must take care both & can't go back to work liao... sigh!

my boy oso dun like to stay in the stroller, he get wake up very easily when i place him down.. so same like u lor, cant sit down in restaurant & eat properly... i used carrier to carry him b4 when dining in restaurant, he will guai guai sleep inside but for me i very diff to hav my meal ler...

wat do u do when u wan to keep ur baby awake during daytime?? for me if i wan to keep him awake i must prepare to carry him coz he won't guai guai stay in the cot / bouncer with eyes open lor... sian sia ler... mean hardly can do my stuff when he is awake lor

Possible to 'potty train' early. My maid held my #1 over the toilet when he was 4mo. Got to wait a while but normally have 'download'.. now, he is 19mo and each time he need to pass motion, he'll either give super-stressed face or wait by the loo. If really no one gets it or he sick (diarrhoea), he'll still pass motion in his diaper. Tried training him to pee in loo also but decided against it cos were afraid that he might decide to hold it in till he gets someone's attention since he can't speak well yet.
 
are you gals a question. is there any place that sell breast milk? or does people buy breast milk from other people? of does people sell their breast milk?

fabbie, there r mummies who will give away BM. Saw the thread before. U can do a search to locate the thread. A place that sell BM... not that I kw of.

my 2nd and 3rd daughters when they were babies also refused to sleep in the cot - die die want to sleep with me ... lol. so sleep with me lor.

for the stroller, i kinda give them no choice. they don't yell in it .. my 3rd girl got used to being carried in the sling by my maid from birth (which i totally regret) cos after that she wasnt keen on sitting in the stroller. always have to persuade her. But by the time she hit 1 plus, she started liking the stroller a lot and will ask for us to take it out of the car the minute we park so she can sit in it. thank god. she's like 15kg thereabouts. die if she fall asleep and kena carry her.

So now with number 4, i restrict my maid from using the sling except for quick runs to the supermarket. if not, I put in the stroller. she cries, i take her out to breastfeed then after that put her down in the stroller.

you know u can try this .. use your stroller at home .. the minute baby sleeps, put her inside .. then push her to whereever you are ... kitchen, etc. that way you can see her .. AND she gets to practice sleeping in it.

Don't give up NOT bringing your stroller out. The more you leave it at home and NOT put your child in it, the more she wont want to sit/sleep in it. As she gets older and understands you, you can use the stroller as a bargaining chip .. eg, "you want to go downstairs walk walk? sit in your pram, ok?" .... or if at the mall, "you want to drink milk? (bottle feeding) .. lie in your pram, mummy will make for you" ...

U bery fortunate lei.. got mum and SIL to help u out.. me relying alot on CL now.. cannot imagine how I'm gonna cope when she's gone..sometimes, when my bb is hungry.. she wails n screams.. CL can calm her down easily lor.. I tried to coax her but cannot one lor.. Jia lut..I got 2 wks more to go b4 she leaves.. hopefully by then I have pick up all her skills and be able to cope w the baby after she's gone.

Wah liao..typing also my breast hurts!! Darn..i really feel like giving up latching on Zach by next week.. he dun hv teeth yet but somehow he can 'bite' my nipple n areola lor..super painful. Somtimes feel like smacking his butt..hehe

Xuelyn, u better learn from CL 1 week before she leave so that Summer is not dependent on CL or get used to her else u will hv tough time 'kau tim' her on the first few nites when CL is not ard.
I gave some of my colleagues n frens Bengawan Solo voucher and some of them got cakes from sweetest moments. Order shuld be placed 7 days in advance and every 10 boxes will have 1 free box. I tink min order is $200?? Forgot liao.. but i ordered abt 80boxes to be delivered separately over 3 days..hehe, no addtional charges though. They are quite accomodating. Their ang ku is very nice..

Oh btw, when u mummies sterilise bottles n pump accessories, do u all air-dry them first or immediately remove and store in lock & lock box? My CL store in the box immediately but i notice a smell whenever i open the box, i suspect cos those bottles r not air dried so the smell..

btw..can share how much ur bb drinking now? dunno y Gerard is not drinking that much compare to last week which is 140ml to 160 ml.. now 120ml...at the same time, i realised he like to drink water also..now i control him to drink abt 2 oz a day..after i told my hb abt water intoxication...

Good ques abt air-drying accessories..i dun. hee...

I also want to check wif mummies using medela pumps. manual mentioned to sterilize once a day and rinse oni wif warm detergent after each use. but i still dun feel good lay. I will still rinse wil boiling water after each wash. anybody do the same?
 
mum2ndx, i sterilise afta each pump but i onie pump either once or twice a day lar..hahah. summore now i got a manual n an electric one :p super kiasu. I tink the avent manual pump not bad..10minutes oso can get 140ml leh..hehe n hand not very 'suan'. quite easy to use n assemble.

bubble, mabbe ur boy notvery hungry?? heheh. dun worry lar.. zach oso like tat, sometimes drink 100ml but sometimes 80ml oso cant finish..siao siao one. Last nite drink 60ml can sleep 4 hrs then later drink 100ml onie last him 2.5hrs..CL oso dumbfounded then latch him he sleep from 5am to 8am which is good!! hehe

i pump 7-8 times a day. but i have 3 funnels so each funnel just used 1-2 times per day. not too siong for them. hee...i thot manual pump very hard to use?
 
ok leh..avent's quite easy to use..dunno lar, for me i find it easy..at least the suction not so pain as the electric one..now my breast is sore n tender, better not aggravate them further. Last nite i dreamt that my nipple bleed leh..traumatised.

during pumping, did u stop and massage to get more milk? did u stop and wait for awhile before continue to pump? i noticed that some milk leaks out from the funnel whenever i stop and move the funnel for massaging

i use avent manual pump last time wor. i felt abit suan. and i pump 1 side annother side will leak. so forget it. hehehe

my gal. recently keep drinking 1 or 2 oz only.. duno why. haiz. and its every 2 or 1 hr. im going mad le.

Do u feel ur gal at the same place? When my gal gal is about 1 month plus, feeding become a nightmare to us. She dun want drink milk. Bring her to PD n PD say she is bored. So got to change place when feeding her. Let her see different things. Or entertain her. End up now, except for toilets, she had drank milk at all place in my flat. We also sing songs to her, must do with actions somemore. Cannot just sing songs. Though tiring, it is quite fun for us. A great way of bonding with her. U want to try that?
 
dolphin, if i use electric pump i will not stop to massage..lazy! but i use avent i did.. leak ah?? no leh so far no leakage..u bend forward abit when removing the funnel fr ur breast lor..

fabbie, not tiring leh..haha can at the same time work on my biceps..keke. ai yah, i will not hv the problem of another breast leaking cos never leak..

i got additional boxes of breast pads leh.. pigeon brand. Still brand new..anyone wanna take over? Oso got 3 boxes of Lucky Baby brand..buy the pigeon brand i give the lucky baby one for free.haha

Sam: Thanks for the suggestion about letting bb sleep in the stroller at home. So far, Preston seems ok in the stroller but he has only been out with it twice.

My hb & i are bringing him to town tomorrow and the stroller is a must. Will see whether he makes a fuss or not! :p


Xuelyn: Ya, learn more from your CL before she leaves.


Ikeike: Try to wake up for night feeds a few nights before your CL leaves. Then you can give your body time to adjust...it's very tiring at first.

Hi all mummies,

I'm a new mum, just gave birth last sat. And I need some advices from you...

I can't latch my baby on the first day. And the nurse commented my nipples too short that is why my baby has difficulty latching on so she advice me to feed my baby with formula milk first and try to pump out my milk for her.

But for the first 3 days - totally no milk supply
But I keep trying so I manage to have some milk supply on the fourth day. But so far till now I can only get 20ml from both sides each time I pumped (I pump about 4 times a day, 30 mins for both sides). Very little ya?

What makes worse is that my MIL and SIL will comment "still so little" each time they see me came out of my room with the milk container (with other family members around in the hall). So stressed!

My friend said the milk will increase after the first 2 weeks. Is it so? I thought of getting a better pump but I think it will be a waste if my milk supply doesn't increase after 2 weeks.

So wanna some advices from the mummies here.

I do not know about short nipple. But i do know that u have to try to keep on latching her to stimulate signals to brain that your baby need milk.

1st 3 days, i also no supply at all.. until 4th day, the milk came in. The lactation nurse massaged n squeeze my nipple, i saw milk came out.. so happy.. but very little.

Yes, the supply will increase as u latch n pump.

Try to take Warm drink b4 pump. Massage your breasts to get a better flow.

Breastfeeding is very very hard and must persevere..

whether you pump or direct latch on, you must do it regularly so as to increase your milk supply. drink lots of water and don't stress !!

if you intend to direct latch then no need to buy a better pump ... baby is the best way to extract milk from your boobs !! .. just latch your baby on demand .. meaning when she wasnts milk, just latch ... it will increase your milk supply ...

Cause she dun want to drink milk at our place. But once she inside doctor room, she want to drink when we feed her. Her eyes keep roaming around. So my PD say some babies get bored with seeing the same thing during feeding so got to change place or do things to entertain her. Haha... Weird but true. Now she will still fuss abit during feed but once we change place, she ok liao.

My daughter recently seems to like to jump up abit during play and burping. I am thinking of getting the fisher price rainforest jumperoo for her. It cost $299. Very expensive. Need to get ur advice. Do u own 1? Do u think it is good for baby?

Dun be stressed by others comments. Different ppl have different timing for milk to start kicking in. Mine came in 5th day. My mum also quite bad. She will stand outside my room, use the empty milk bottle to knock my door, saying "Got any fresh milk? Gal gal is going to starve till death liao (E4 Si3)"

I will try to drink more water and see if there's any improvement. I really envy those who is able to pump just for storage...

I'm been upset with my MIL cos she told my brother-in-law (my hubby's brother) that I've no milk when she saw me coming out from my room with 10ml of milk after being inside for more than half an hour. I knew she was just being tongue-in-cheek. But saying to an opposite gender (moreover with FIL and SIL around in the hall) is really hurtful.
 
cocoa, dun fret!! Its still early. All of us went through what u went through. Persevere on n u will see the result by end of the week. Either u latch on more frequently or pump more often. AT least 8 times of either latch or pump per day..n now tat u're in confinement, dont drink plain water..drink warm water instead. Ask ur MIL to quit giving pessimistic remarks, ask her to contribute by boiling red dates tea, fish + papaya soup and more of other soups for u instead lar..hahaha. When my mom made that remark to me, i told her that.. either u stay out of the room or u help me to increase! Hahaha..
 
my boy getting very playful! He was up from 4pm till now!!! And when i latch him, he decided not to swallow the milk n keep in his mouth.. imagine, 2mths onie like tat..older liao dunno how..hahaha
 
Hee. Yah, Emerald, u're right. My MIL had a loose tongue but she did care la. She knew I had little milk for the past few days so she did prepare fish and red dates tea for me.

I told my hubby about her "loose" tongue while he was at work, he said he will ask her if she needs my milk for coffee or tea once my milk supply increase. Haha.

Ur son is really cheeky ah, keeping the milk in his mouth, so cute. Heehee

no, I don't own a jumperoo ... personally, I feel that the things like the jumperoo, exersaucer ... where it's stationary in one place ... will bore the baby out very quickly. wait awhile then when she's about 6 months or so, get a baby walker .. the kind u put the baby in and she can "walk" around ... cheaper and baby gets to be mobile so more entertaining.

I think the jumperoo and the exersaucer and afew other baby activity stations like that are overpriced, bulky and the novelty wears off very fast ... most of my friends who have either of those things all use them for a really short while.

if u really want to try it out, maybe u can rent or buy 2nd hand ??

I have always put my girls in a walker .. they really like it because they can explore on their own ... it has never impeded their walking ... my 2nd girl started walking at 10 months old and my 3rd at 9 months ...

i will definately be buying a walker for Calista

Thanks for ur advice. I will be getting a walker too. Though I am quite concerned about the speed that baby move in it. I wun be getting the exersaucer if I am getting the jumperoo. Hope my gal gal ang bao $ this year is enough to get 1. Haha...

Too bad I miss the Mattel Sale last Dec. Only manage to grab a lot of cheap n good clothes during the Gimmil Sale. At Mattel Sale, it is selling at $180 as compared to Kiddy Palace at $239. Maybe I will get a 2nd hand or rent it. Thanks.

As my gal like to jump up abit after feed, she will puke milk but no cause for alarm as long as it is not solidified version of milk (some lump) or in other colour. U try to change place for her to drink milk. If things still not improving, perhaps can bring her see PD?

My daughter also will do that. Rejecting milk by using her tongue to push the teat to the side. Or else, she will prepare to drink but split them all out. But good also, I know when she is full or else I might overfeed her.

As she is drinking FM, we got to give her some water or else she wun poo for few days. Cant feed water through bottle or spoon. Can only use springe to feed her. The type that we use to inject medicine into baby. So mine is more fussy than urs.

dunno wat happen to my milk ss, last time (1st 2wks) my pumping output can easily hit 200ml but since 3rd i nv pump coz on total latch on... now i started to pump again coz i wanna stock up but my milk ss is dropping!!! i hav been pumping every 3hrs at nite these few days but can only get max 100ml, juz now even worse, my left side output is totally 0ml, even though it is already 3hrs since i last latch on my boy... i really wonder if my boy drinks enough coz he always ask for milk in very short hr if i latch him on, but if giv EBM then will last longer... been taking fenugreek but doesn't seem help ler, very very sad! i dun wan to giv up BF-ing ler, wat else i can do?
