been trying to feed and bath Kasia myself during the day for past few days... plus ned to pump milk and do own things, must say really not easy lor! wonder how did Phyl, Juz and Lavendery cope 1?! anyway, me taking a short break now, tell CL she can take over liao (cos i tell her i wud like to try out for a few days). Wow biao, now nite feeding i leave it to CL, after she leaves on 7 Jan, think i will becum zombie like Phyl liao! super tiring man.

great to see you drop by, can fully understand y u can only log on occassionally. think after 7 Jan, it will be a looooong time before i can log on again. BB Kasia is learning to get attention and needs to be cooed to sleep, me a bit unhappy with CL, cos i think she is the one who cultivate this mentality in Kasia. Ah... god bless me after she leave =(

Kasia in the pm oso like dat. after taking abt 100-110ml EBM, she will scream for more milk barely 1-2hr, then i test water with 40-90ml of FM, then she can sleep better.. Ah!

Btw, can i check with if any BB dun poo for 2 DAYS? me a bit woried, cos Kasia used to poo everyday, but she stop poo-ing for past 2 days, scared she kena constipation. other than trying to get her drink some water, other solution for constipated BBs?

Lisa is like that too.. drink for about 5 mins and then sleep.. only to wake up about 1/2-1 hr later to eat again!! If she continues like that I no need to do anything.. and can't sleep.. like last nite.. kept waking up to eat.. I only manage to sleep from 6am-9am!! Sigh.. now super tired..

If there is way to improve situation, pls do share... I'm one tired mummy..

me back from orchard! Was out since 1.30pm - 6.45pm. Immediately reach home and change, juz in time for Zach to wakie for his milk!! Haha.. the moment i unbutton my bra, my milk start leaking liao..haha..few hrs din pump or latch.

Maybe it is time to start pumping for her final nite feed so I can control the amount she takes.. sigh.. soo lazy to pump..and if she latches on very frequently, I'll prob have very little milk to pump out.. Aiyah...

Snowger, my gal oso refuse to latch, we've been feeding her EBM thru bt for the past 2 weeks oredi.. everyone say keep pumpin regularly & ss will be there...

i am getting lazy to pump also. Only pump 3 or 4x per day. Each time have ard 160ml of milk. During the nite time i latch Ervin but after that i didnt pump out the milk for the other breast cos too tired.

Btw did u gals let baby drink milk all the way?! or you all stop at 1oz then make them burp? then continue again? I realize if i let my baby dirnk all the way MOST of the times i burp her. she will vomit out her milk T__T very sad. Duno why most of the time i burp her she will vomit out. But when i stop at 1oz she wont vomit out leh. WHY HUH?! is your baby like that too? vomit most of the time if dirnk 1 shot? Like that the milk all waste liao and she is half full nia like that

Maybe your baby is already full? I read somewhere that one of the causes of spitting up milk is overfeeding. When I was at parentcraft, the midwife was teaching me how to cup feed and she said that we shouldn't force baby to finish the EBM if they are already full, otherwise they will vomit out and waste the milk. Babies will know how to stop eating when they are full; we should not 'force' them to complete a feed if they don't want anymore.

When my MIL or hb feeds my baby EBM, I always tell them that it's okay if my baby cannot finish the milk. We can either keep till the next feed or throw away if it's just a little left. If you estimate that your baby only takes 1-2 oz per feed, then maybe you can just heat up that amount? If she wants more then you can heat up again? This way you won't have to waste your milk.

Carmen - according to polyclinic dr, sometimes baby has constipation due to poor burping technique. they will need to burp n fart to release air trapped during feeding. try holding kasia upright with head resting at shoulder n burp for more than 5mins after feeding. if all matters tried n still not pooing, think should take her to see Dr. how i cope w confinement alone? apart from down there pain & breast pain. actually quite sian. the usual routine will be every 2-3hrs feed once; every 3-5hrs pump milk; 10+ am confinement food catering comes; 8-9 + am have breakfast & wash up; 12-2 pm eat lunch; 3.30pm bathe baby; 4+ prepare herb bath for myself; 5pm bathe myself; 6-7pm have dinner etc...

Do check to see if you hv red patches on the breast. For me, my left breast left side was hard (like got a lot of milk) n painful. I tried massaging even thou pain n pumpt but only 40ml comes out. Land up I got congested breast at that side. U need to massage SUPER HARD until u feel like crying... :'( I almost wanted to kick the consultant who massaged my breast + nipples.

My ger always ask for top up feeds aft pooing or after bathing. Usually only 20ml. I always force her to finish the milk even if it means "waking" her. Cos I dun wan her wasting my milk n pumping effort. Oso, ur daughter puking milk is it like phelgm? If it is then it is not puking milk... My ger did puke her milk out before too. then my CL says "See lah. told u can't let her drink so much milk". ZZZZzzzz.

Do try to burp her half way thru her feed if possible. maybe she burp too hard n throws out all the milk. If puke milk aft u burp her while she is sleeping could be acid reflux. Proping her head+ body slightly higher may help.

Btw, is drinking 50ml for a 2 wk old bb considered little??? Is there a standard feed amount for bbs?

Fenugreek Pills:
GNC recommends taking two pills four times daily as the maximum dosage. I am not sure if it will cause dependency. But I noe my colleague's wife took that dosage and she saw an increase in milk ss. Some pple says it works some pple say it doesn't. *hmmm*

Btw i have change her teats to med liao Mrs Wong told me my gal was fussy about drinking and my teats too small so i change to med. But it seems like her drinking still the same. lidat very siong hor..wonder when will this stage pass..abt vomit milk, I read the bk as long as not she forcing the milk out (vomit) then it is ok..my bb also lidat leh...I tried the following n now he dun always vomit out already:
-when using EBM must swirl the contents to mix the cream n the foremilk
-change the teat to a slower one..when he drink too fast then high chance later burp sure vomit.
-after he finish slowly shift him to sitting position..then slowly burp him (last time when I use too much force the milk come out)
-put him in a bouncer after burp, which is slightly tilted so that he is not flat n will not drool out milk

my bb seems to sneeze occasionally n then got some watery thing in his nose but when I suck out, it seems so little n also he snort n snort..wonder izit phlegm, anyone know how to cure? dunno shld I bring him to see a PD...

ah.. envy mummies who are getting at least 100ml for pumping... i still hover ard 50ml. only for 1st pump in morning then i get ard 100ml. other intervals, it's usually ard 40-50ml. i really pump till im so tired, but bo bian, need to preserve since i no longer latch on (and Kasia is too impatient to latch on oreadi)

Kasia just poo at 2030 and 2245hrs!!! haha.. think she "gek" too long liao, her 2245 poo is super lor, think it can match her 2 days "supply"! hahaha... my CL is making fun of me dat im so kan cheong Kasia nvr poo, so Kasia is showing me her power! =D

think every BB can be diff in some ways, if Clarice wont viomit if u break the feeding interval, then u may wan to continue doing dat. Like for Kasia, she has a bad habit of asking for "dim sum" after poo and pee, not every BB will do the same. so we mummies juz have to learn to take cue as well as trial & error at times liao =)

omg! how did u suck out Randall's mucus? i saw some sucking device (costs ard $5-10) which can be used to suck BB's nose mucus out. But i check with the PD, she said so long as BB is eating and sleeping well, try not to interfere wif the nose mucus too much. cos after a few sneezes, the "dirt" will sometimes clear by themselves. since our BBs still so young, her advice is not to "interfere" too much. When bigger, then we can start using the device. the only thing is, i forgot to ask by WHEN can we start clearing the BB's mucus! Ah... STM (short term memory) acting up again ;p

Jus tried the medela breast pump for the first time earlier. only managed a 30ml fr both sides. tat wont be enuff for 1 feed i think.. sianz.. another shag nite ahead for me..

btw your EBM put in the fridge hor did your milk bottles on top got a thick layer of milk patches which is stuck? do you know why is like that ah? So weird de, as in i put in the fridge not shaking nor left is in a slanted way, why have patches of thick milk around de.

my gal very fussy de.. cannot drink or suck properly will cry like hell. so my teats must be med so that she can suck properly. Maybe i try to slowly burp her see what will happen ba. Hmmm btw you didnt hire a maid to take care of the household for u?

fabbie, the layer of thicker milk is actually called hindmilk which is higher in fat contents and the one that will make bb feel full. if u heat up the milk directly using that bottle storage, u dun need to swirl the bottle abit..but if u r pouring the content into milk bottle then heat up, u need to swirl the storage bottle lightly to mix both the foremilk n hindmilk together (so as not to waste)..hehe

echo, unfinished EBM can still be kept for later feeding meh? tot shuldnt keep?

Anyone knows how to bring frozen milk out? This sunday going for buffet brunch and i do not want to latch bb on..if i thaw the milk at home, how to bring it out leh?

Well I actually packed according to the no. of pple 1 family has.. hehe.. no point packing so much if family small.. but my smallest no. is about 10/box.. i give abt 2 cupcakes/pax... for my office, i even asked ros to pack 30 cupakes in a box... i gave my colleagues for tea!! =)
I guess u can pack any no per box, just let ros know how many u want.. she will pack any no. for u... i know i have some boxes with 10, 20, etc..

but if u are asking like traditionally how many shld u pack, then i really not too sure... are u planning to have a buffet for ur relatives??

Last nite was much better.. Lisa woke up at about 2am and I bottle fed her about 120ml of EBM... after that she slept right through.. up to 7am!! =) Wah never experience 5 hrs straight!! Dunno whether it will work most of the time..

Is 120ml too much/little for a month old bb?? Actually she didn't finish all.. I think she left behind about 8-10ml.... and then she didn't want...

fabbie, i guess this is the sacrifice a mother has to make.. during pregnancy, i alr tune my body clock to wake up at 3.15am (to pee) and then at 5am (to drink milo) and then watch TV till 7am and get ready to work..is actually to tune myself to such life after bb is out..

I alr envision my morning to start at:
5am - pumping milk
6am - I shower & get ready to work
6.45am - Wake hb & I get Zach ready to go infantcare
7am - Leave home to office (to avoid paying extra ERP and so that hubby will not be late for work) He will need to travel from Punggol - Raffles - Tampines..haha

By then every nite 10.30pm i shuld be sleeping liao. My thought is once I start work (early March), i will onie latch Zach once a day and the remaining feeding will be via bottle (EBM).. hopefully the supply will still be there.

Jo, ur milk ss is still ok ah.. 160ml both breast! My max onie 150ml n tat is oso cos i din latch baby on for 1 feed.
 
snowger, mabbe our CL both hv the same mindset, swaddled bb can sleep better but now my baby is very strong liao..he will always wriggle here and there till he get his both hands out and then he will sleep sideways - very cute, now he learn how to turn sideways and he even start making baby talk liao esp feeding time, alot of noise fr him one leh..cute

put in the cooler bag. tout u have the ice blue brick? put your freeze milk in there lor. when u want to use it take it out. put in a bowl with normal tap water can liao. very easy dissolve de.

aiya.. it takes time to get used to baby la... when baby sleep, then u take a nap lor.. then wont be so Zombie le.. will be zombie is when baby dun wanna slp at nite.. keke.. like hayden last nite din slp from 4.40am to this morning 8am...bo bian lor.. but he slept from 8am to 10 ma.. so i sleep too so now more refreshed..

yesterday i brought Hayden out to AMK hub for Fish n Co.. keke.. then went to spring maternity to buy 2 more nursing bras coz the ones i bought from impressions too small... then went NTUC walk walk with him n my friend.. then after that went to hubby's workplace to wait for him to finish work then we went to eat zhi char!! keke.. baby was out from 3pm to 10.30pm!! latched 1 time, 1 bottle FM and changed 2 diapers! woohoo!! it was so fun !!

Anyone here has short nipples? I think my left nipple is shorter than my right one and I find it hard to latch Emma properly on my left side. From having a sore nipple, I've now 'progressed' to a cracked and bleeding nipple

emeraldbride, ur 100ml supply very gd liao, cause u still latch ur zach, mine is on total EBM. first 2 weeks i pump, at nite still got 150ml, now oni about 100ml everytime, i'll will soon have to give FM when cidney starts drinkin more, now she's oredi drinking 110ml each feed.
but my milk always starts leaking 1 hr after piumpin, so now i collect my milk frm my breatshield instead of using breastpad, oni use pads at nite. else 1 day got to change 5-6 times...
 
anyone here is using avent bottles? i realise baby will soon outgrow the 4oz/ 125ml bottle. he is drinking 110ml every 2-3hrs. anyone using bigger avent bottles? can avent teats be used on other brand bottles? did u all get the avent warmer bag for bring milk out?

Carmen - ah, so early throw to babysitter? spend more time w her lah, that's what maternity leave is for... spend time w small creature.

On 1 hand i want to pump more often to try to get more EBM..but on the other hand I'm super tired & lazy to do so as I'm already latch-on. Sometimes by the time BB finish latch on & when I'm preparing to pump, he wakes up again for feed..so where got time to pump...

my Boi's daytime feeds are as frequent as an hr interval...is this norm? anyway to increase the interval?? He will latch on for abt 10min..smtimes 15mins then fall asleep & dun want to suck le..then wake up an hr later for milk..super siong for me...

Nite time however is better, interval can be 2hrs to 3 hrs...But feed time is also same 10-15mins..Anyway idea how to increase the daytime interval??

Bur.. i din expect to go out so long also.. i din bring pump.. i latch him lor... keke.. he a little cranky ma.. so i "pacify" him with my nipple he help me clear my full boob lor.. kekeke... win win.. i put his things in a diaper bag, bring my sling out n yesterday friend drove so i brought my pram out too.. but i think since now he still so small, its easier to just put him in the sling...

i brought 2 bottles, 2 portions of FM, 5 diapers, drapolene, small pack of wet wipes n one change of clothes + 2 small cloth.. =)

going to bring baby go coffeeshop tabao lunch soon.. woohoo...

echo, i got short nipple 2, thts y my gal refuse to latch, even i use the nipple shield, it does not help. I was at parentcraft 2nd day after labour & the LC there says so.. the nipple shield kept droppin off, the LC say must tweedle ur nipple out, but i tried & bb still refuse to latch.

I use the pigeon bulb thing to suck out his mucous lor..coz he like can't breathe leh...you mean this is common ar? Alamak then I leave it alone liao.. Coz I see he quite poor thing breathe thru the mouth n then when drinking milk need to break for a while to breathe..n always got the snort snort sound one leh..

My CL usually bathe Zach in the morning between 8.30am - 9.30am depending on what time he wakes up. All is his timing. I tink bathing in the morning is better, bb felt cleaner, mood oso happier..usually for Zach after his bathe, he will guai guai lie in his cot and do some own thinking..keke

fabbie, when i go back to work, i tink the following will be my pumping schedule:
5am, 8.30am, 12.30pm (latch), 4.30pm
so u see, onie the 4.30pm pumping time i will not be at my desk the rest of it will not eat into my working time. Then when reach home at nite, the schedule will be like
8.30pm, 11.30pm (before sleeping) and midnite will all be latch on..until the cycle continues

Maybe he demand to be carry. But I dont want to carry, I wont be able to do my things.
Last night dont want to zzz, till my mom put him on the mattres, than pat him to zzz. Sigh.. dont know what to do.

My output also about 40-50, my boy already 1 month plus.. so envy those can pump up to 100ml.

i try to feed baby then pump.. no fix time la.. as long as every 5 hrs i pump lor. actually its good to pump at certain planned time of the day.. but mine is haywire.. everyday different timing one lor..

ya lor.. BB distress.. sianz de...i try to limit people from carrying by staying in the room already.
