(2008/11) November 2008

Lian, Pizza i have no preference cause haven't found a really fantastic pizza that i can't live without haha... so all pizza are fine.
Perhaps like some mom suggested we can order from a few places than we know which is better? how abt that?

hi mummies!

ah lian: don't worry too much abt food. i'm getting my maid to fry cuttlefish balls too so shdn't be lack of food.

ah jo: take care hor. too bad u live so far from me. a nice outing wld cheer u up.

aly_nat: ur method of cooking barley sounds more correct than my MIL & mum. my mum's method is like what ah lian used to do. my MIL's is boil for 5 minutes then turn it off. sometimes the water is still colourless. but the good thing abt my MIL's barley water is she doesn't put any sugar. so Kai is trained not to take sweet drinks.

Saturday afternoon @ mummy olwen's home in Serangoon.

Jo, i know u will disagree with me bt when i told the pd that issac is nt drinking much milk she tell me as long as he is eating and his weight is ok there is no need to force him to drink milk because they can get more nutrients from food...
so coming from the pd i guess it should be ok right? perhaps don't be too hard on yourself, Lucas n your IL on milk feed for lucas. he is nt underweight right?

minky,
Lucas PD also said the same thing .. but I cant persuade myself that he can simply depend on food and dun need milk at all, also depending on what he is having before his milk. Think he is of average weight.

Hb ask mi forgive and forget .. I say can but same thing will happen again ... I also wish I dun need to force him drink milk everytime .. can even save the milk powder money for other stuffs.

Jo, now the nutrients in food is more important than milk. Sometime i find that milk to issac is just a comfort nt a need. Staying with in laws is tough n if u need their help to look after Lucas i guess no choice bt to let it go...
Don't make yourself upset too much...

Morning!

Jo, *pat pat* sometimes really difficult to make elderly listen to us.. we can only try lor..

Lian, i am ok with any pizza.. suggest we dun order too much if olwen is preparing food too.. haha coz i think we all will be very busy chatting and handling our kids rather than eating ;p

Jo, is it possible to have an agreement with ur ILs, maybe ask ur hub to tell them, that after 830pm pls do not feed Lucas with other food?
I agree to Minky, sometimes have to let it go... else will be too upsetting on ourselves.

Ask hb juz now FIL shouted loudly last nite issit asking whats wrong with not drinking milk .. he told mi FIL say why I cry when he dun drink milk .. I told hb .. despite telling them so many times they dun listen .. I have endured for so long and my patience already reached limit .. if I can scream at them, I dun need to cry liao.

lilian,
From today onwards, I shall juz shut myself and Lucas in our room from 8pm before in-laws come home till he finish his milk! Since you dun listen, then dun blame mi for being so nasty. U dun get your grandson to come to you n call u when you reach home.
I know I'm very bad doing this ... but I really cant take it anymore.

Jo: Take it easy..take a deep breathe and relax, don't get angry, it's bad for ur health.

Old people sometimes muddle-headed and different thinking form our generation, sometimes it's compromise. Remind them everyday (if u have to), so they'll remember. I understand from your point sometimes they really do things different from us, like my dad likes to introduce sweets to my gal, I will always say NO in front of him. And I always have to do it cos he always forgets I hate my gal to consume sweets.

Actually IMHO, children abt 2 yrs can also drink less milk, eat more is fine, my gal sometimes, eat more, drink less, sometimes vice versa. So I don't put a strict rule she has to eat at what time. My gal always ask for milk at 6PM and eats at 7.30PM...

poor jo, sayang sayang..
u remind me of myself when i stay with my IL tat time. my Fil very prone to flu & cough. & he love to come near to my gal & play with her even when he not feeling well or sick. when i stay with my them, my gal is just born. my Fil also dont hav habit of cover his mouth when he cough or sneeze.. he even pissed off when my Hb remind him to cover his mouth. & u know what i do? i shut myself & the baby is the room till my hb come back from work. my fil also like to disturb my baby when she is sleeping. there is a baby cot in the living room downstair & another one in my room. while my gal is sleeping downstair, he will purposely disturb her to get her wake up & play with her. tat time wat baby need is sleep & milk in order for them to grow. but he will purposely go and disturb her whenever she is sleeping. i know my FIL pattern tat he cannot ta han ppl say him. so u know what i do, i also shut my myself with the baby in my room everyday until HB come back from work. at least she can sleep peacefully & i also succeed my training for the baby to take her nap twice a day when she turn 3 mth old.
but of coz, my MIL did complaint to my hb tat i keep shuting in the room with the baby whole day tat she & the FIL cannot see the baby...

my hb know the reason why i wanna do tat.. no choice...

soho,
My boy doesnt like milk and have been spoonfed since 3-4mths old .. hence, if I'm not strict n insist on his milk feed, he definitely wont want to drink one. I always tell them but they refuse to listen so I will keep Lucas in the room loh.

Darlest,
We will be considered "rude" if we tell them off .. so we can only use tactics to solve these problems. Since they dun wan to listen, then dun blame us for not letting them see their grandchildren. Last time when BIL and SIL had their first gal and we were all staying together ... SIL also keep her room door closed at all times with her gal inside .. even when in-laws back from work, she dun open the door to greet them unless they go into her room themselves .. we all dun get to see her often .. eventually they move out after some quarrels too ..

aly_nat, my sis says she would like to have t Alive Gallery tickets. Paisey..
happy.gif

Jo, dun angry... Locking urself and Lucas in t room wun do anyone good. Why not see how t situation tonight and then decide?

lilian,
Maybe for next few days they wouldnt give Lucas eat anything but this will happen again very soon. I can be stubborn but really had enuff ... since they dun wanna listen then they dun get Lucas accompaniment at their dinners.

Jo, interestingly u will realise tat grandparents always like to feed their grand kids. that is the only time they c huge smile on the kid. so they will feed them anything n everything... and also they might nt hav the strength n energy to play with them so feeding the kid is a joy to them. both side benefit.
the most is peace n harmony at home perhaps u can shift feeding Lucas milk slightly early... like feeding him half of the milk feed slightly earlier than the other half slightly later so that if they feed him food he still can drink his milk aft... hw abt that? no point telling the in laws nt to feed cause like u say they will do it anyway...

thank minky for the spinach n brocoli advise.
my sashimi come from very gd source but i still get contamination. my gynae told me tat pregnant lady digestion usually much slower than normal preople by duno how many percent, so when the raw food inside the tummy didnt get disgested in time, it will turn bad, tat how i got contamination. the 2nd time i got contamination during 1st pregnancy is i ate the laksa. the laksa turn bad in my tummy before it get disgested. it has coconut milk, & coconut milk turn bad easily & very hard to disgest. i vommited out all the laksa tat i ate the previous nite & got contamination again. so aftertat i learn. now my 2nd pregnancy, im careful on wat i eat . no raw food, raw egg, food tat has coconut milk & etc.

Jo..
aiyorz.. cry for 3 hrs???!! thats v tok gong lei...
Were you at home when they feed him e snacks? Should hav jus say NO and quickly carry him away.. tts wat i'll do.. i'll jus bluntly say cannot eat and take her away..
Tink my MIL also sama sama la.. remm i mention she always feed her icecream?? Despite telling her numerous time dun buy anymore icecream and small kids cannot eat icecream everyday, i stil see small tubs of icecream in e freezer.. MIL always say Nini only took a couple of mouthful but i dun believe it at all.. She loves icecream and only idiot will believe tt she only took a bit.. And true enuf tt time i saw her feeding Nini till nearly half e tub i quickly take over and said enuf! See.. old people dun listen.. they always tink everything is ok ok ok..

minky,
You are right ... they only enjoy by feeding them. Your suggestion is good but very troublesome and we wld need to go thru the nightmare of bluffing him drink milk twice.

nut,
I was in the room. I dun really like to stay outside following Lucas ard jus to make sure he does not snack. So I shall jus stay in e room with Lucas from now onwards.
How can give a toddler half tub of ice-cream .. all these grandparents !!! Why cant they first think that if kids fall sick, the kid will be very uncomfy and we parents will feel tired taking care of them thru the night.

Jo
its those small little tub tt comes with a small plastic spoon la.. but still.. everyday a little of that is a lot!! For a small kid!!! I had only plans to bring her out for icecream treats during weekends but now its like becoming a daily affair all thanks to my fantastic MIL... today i'm going to raid e freezer and finish up watever icecream in there without telling her

wah Nut, u will get fat eating all the tubs leh... u sure?:p
sorry to say bt i think your MIL is hard core leh... hard la... told my mom your MIL fed nini with ear biscuit when she was young n she also shake head...

haha... bt if she buy many many than u hav to be the one eating all than become fat fat leh... so hw going for no. 2? hehe... anyway u say u look 5 mths pregnant so might as well make it real.

Darlest, ya best to eat cook food.

Interestingly, when my mum see me let my girl drink cold drinks, she will tell me off. haha... Cos she's t main caregiver, if my girl sick, she jialat.
But my dad is opposite.
Minky, u r right lor. Feeding our kids is t main, if not the only activity, grandparents can do.
My dad dunno how to 'play' with K, so whenever K want TV, he'll definitely on it for her.

nut,
if u keep finish the tubs of ice-cream, ur MIL wld probably continue to buy a tub for Nini everyday ...

minky,
true enuff we were brought up in e traditional way but doing good now ... but last time I dun think our parents heard of bronchitis, pneumococcal, etc.

Morning ..

Last nite, I didnt gave Lucas eat anything except for some milk sweets from 6pm to 9pm .. he refused his milk initially for awhile but eventually finished whole bottle of milk!

Niece is really down with bad fever and ulcers ... cancelled her coming Friday birthday dinner to avoid Lucas catching the virus again.

RCB,
Which CC is J in? The teacher sounds abit irresponsible.

Jo, so everything went fine yest nite?
Perhaps u can give Lucas some fruits to munch on after his dinner.
Oh dear, your poor niece... is your SIL upset abt it?

RCB, ok on, we will take domino pizza & Spizza!
