(2008/11) November 2008

Thats why I was saying ... dunnoe my mum learnt from who.
Give angbao to ah ma for new clothes and shoes sounds reasonable ... but what angbao to wash cloth diaper? So ridiculous.

Hahahah.... I read all the posts and laugh till tears almost come out. Sssooo funny. My dowry was $2888 and tink my mom returned $1k or $888. She kept the money and said that's her $$$ for bringing me up. *lolz*

Thanks for all the compliments on my gals. Hub says next time he won't fllw them around. But will wait downstairs wz golf club. *faintz*

sun is father's day, any plan?

jo, my gal also use kodomo bb bath & kodomo bb shampoo. she tend to scratch alot esp ard the neck area & shoulders, chin area until bleed. when she use the shampoo, she also keep scratching the head although confirm by PD tat she dun have dry scalp. i suspect it the shampoo tat cause to scratch, coz she only scratch tat few area tat i mention, so i switch to (just try & error) mustela bb shampoo, she still tend to scratch, be it head, or neck, shoulder, chin area, but not as much as before. i also did use a recomended moisturise by her PD, but still..

dymples, your girls are lovely! they have big beautiful round eyes! i did buy the silk mineral, but dun dare to try yet.. keke

btw, any comp & ben mgr here & are looking out?

Lynn,
Really yah... got 3 gals in row means successful career? hhmm... but I still waiting to "strike" big big salary leh. *lolz* But so far, thank God, both hub's and my career is quite ok. But of cos can be better lah.
biggrin.gif

Mommies,
Thanks for all the compliments. Tink lots of babies here are all berry handsome and pretty cos this thread got lots of pretty, yummy mommies. You all post your baby's pic to share share leh...
happy.gif

Darlest,
Maybe you can try out the Silk Mineral on those supermarket brand of shampoo first? But a small bottle and test? I kind of regret adding it into my 'organic' shampoo. But then again, the result is not too bad lah. After conditioner can see my hair is not ssoo frizzy anymore. But I dun dare add anymore silk protein leh.

Father's Day,
My family will be going to True Blue tonight for a peranakan feast. Yeah!! Can't wait. I miss eating my mama's cooking sssoo much especially her ayam buah keluak! Only this place has the food most authentic liaoz. Then on Sunday may be bringing my gals to fly kite.

Kiki,
So ex for Dr Wong now. 1st consulation going for $108. My god.
Last time, Jalen's time was only $728+gst for her pkg @ 12wks. Now $1k! I also miss her smile and so cool on the day of delivery.

dowry,
My HB gave $1888 but my parents took 50% or 1k.
They ask for 8 tbls and kept the ang pows.

Jo,
My side was given the ah ma clothes, shoes and the washing diaper thing. In fact, is my father in law(hokkien) ask if we need or not? LOL
My parents dun know anything cos I'm the 1st to get married. Hehe.

All mummies sharing your bride price hehe. I think all our parents are great. Most either take for the purpose of the ceremony.

Jo,
Going by traditional custom, if Ah ma is still around, all those are so-called the necessary. It is a consider as a form of respect from the grandson-in-law to the bride's grandmother.
The washing cloth diaper thingy mean in the olden days, the grandchildren are usually taken care by the grandmother and the grandmother need to bath/feed/change the grandchild. The grandmother is also required to wash the cloth diaper for the grandchild which was considered as 'dirty' job, image washing nappy with urine and solid by bare hands. The ang bao which usually is $12 or $48 the max is given to the grandmother for helping the granddaughter to wash her cloth diaper, not the grandma's cloth diaper.
In term of ceremony, it is usually given together with a pig trotter and 8 oranges on the day the groom fetch the bride.

Snnowy,
U know alot! So its an angbao to thank grandmother for washing diapers for grandchildren ... but I never stayed with grandmother ... so shldnt have this angbao mah haha.

Abt the pig trotters ... we went to swipe the whole shelf of pig trotter cans at Giant Tampines tt time.

Jo,
The old fashion wouldn't care so much. Their point is that so long your Ah mah is still around, they will follow the tradition.

Not that I know much but more of being force to know the rationale behind it. Tell you, that time my wedding, it was so bad that I almost wanted to call the wedding off. Image a bride almost crying every day 1 month prior to wedding... Basically my family are very old traditional but they sort of respected my decision/plan during my wedding. I was the 1st to be married among my big family. However my aunties just wouldn't stop poking her nose into every single affair and detrupted my whole plan. I had no choice but to understand the rationale behind all those 'stupid' request. Otherwise I think I wouldn't even want to marry. If I tell you, you will think it is so ridiculars of them

* During GDL, we had ordered 120 boxes of cakes for friends and relatives. We had oredered all those slices in 10 favour. 2 weeks prior, they insisted we changed to those traditional round butter cake and we had to give it,

* Arranged for 1 maid of honour and 7 bridemaids + 8 best friends for groom, insist I cut down to 2 each,

* My parents got to pay for the pair of shoes my hubby will be wearing during my wedding day..

* My wedding shoes got to be those fully covered, Originally bought a pair of those open toes, then got to shop for 1 2 days prior to wedding,

* Must wear hand gloves on wedding day and evening.

There is a long long long list if I were to write it down. I was practically screwed up by my own aunt that I almost wanted to be a runaway bride lor.

snnowy,
Since your family respected your plans, why need to bother about that aunt? Ur father's elder sis?
And I really find that the requests you mentioned above are ridiculous. Shld have ignored that aunt ... be it if she wants to get angry with you for the rest of her life.

Morning..... monday blues again.. come in office face black black.. feel like taking urgent leave so much.. -_-

Wow al e bride's price.. kekeke.. tts funny... Bear being the most kelianz.. tsk tsk tsk...
My hubby's exgf is a Japanese.. he always make it a point to remind me that when Jap marry, its e bride who give e groom's family $$$.. ganasai.. Ask him why dun he go find an indian as well cos they work e same way...

Jo
hey i tink i also got giv e grandma wash diaper ang bao lei.. umm.. but ok la.. they say giv then giv lor.. anyway not a lot of money..

Had a nice Sat evening with my gal.. being a bit more cheapo.. we brot her to universal studio for the hollywood walk after 7pm.. jus $2 per adult nia.. kekeke.. i find it quite ok thou we spent less than an hr there.. at least not that hot and tot it looks nicer at night with all the neon lights on.. Anyway bring her in the morning also cant play a lot of things.. Went into those shops to look see but din buy anything in e end.. Had wanted to have our dinner in ther but becos before 7pm a lot a lot of people are queuing to get into the park, we decided to grab something near e casino instead while waiting for the queue to clear..

peanut,
Ur face black or ur boss face black? Later go vivo do some shopping to cheer urself up.

Not abt the money .. but dun understand the rationale behind "wash cloth diaper" angbao.

I was juz so blur! Wanted to msg Jenn but in e end msg Fifi cos was thinking abt Jenn's gal Felicia!

hi mummies..
thanks for all the earlier postings..took some time to stay calm..

i forgot abt father's day till yest my sis reminded me..ops..hope everyone had a great celebration..

peanut..
i didnt knw that for jap/indian, the lady's side have to fork out $ for the male's side..thanks for sharing..

Jo
i monday blue of cos its my face black black la.. I'm actually not a shopper lei.. somemore no target.. vivo also walk until sianz liao.. whahaha... * i can feel those working at remote area stabbing me at the back*

Jo, Snnowy, Peanut,
After reading the post above, tink I also paid my mom some type of 'wash diaper' money. But instead of it being for my grandma, my mom was the one who took the $$$. *scratch head* At that time, I also tot pay her the dowry enough already. Why still need to give this 'wash diaper' $$. But she kept insists that because she took care of me when small (when actually it was my grandma who did), she felt she deserved big big 'wash diaper' $$$.

Snnowy,
Aiyohz... you berry kelian leh. Why must that stupid aunt be so KPO? Is she more senior then your mom and dad? Thats why you need to listen to her? Reminds me... that time because of dowry I also cried and cried. Cos that time, my mom's friends the daughters also getting married around same time. End up she keep hinting she wants super big 'ang pow' cos her friends all got amounts like $10,800 lah, $8,800 lah. Hey.. those guys are from rich rich family of cos can afford such big ang pow. Was ssoo angry and upset till my dad stepped in and told us to jux give whatever we feel comfortable. So sometimes not just relatives can make trouble, even outsiders will pour salt and give problems.

*sayang-sayan* Oh dear... but if it's no.2 should still ok bah? Plus if get now, age gap between #1 and #2 will be just right. Not like me... if strike again will be no.4. *faintz* Lagi cannot take chances leh.

minky
gotto plan e work la.. and now is ok not e busy time of the month so stil ok.. Besides i normally take half day half day ony, v seldom few days in a stretch

Jo/Dymples/Peanut,
My aunt is older than my dad. She created such a nonsense that in the end my parents 'gave in' to her and pressured me to change all my plan. In the end, i sort of gave in except I insisted on having 8 bridemaids and groom's 8 brothers.
Know what my own sisters said? They will wait for her to die 1st then marry or else she will step in again. It is to thst extend...

Peanut,
Ya, It is bad that we all become crying brides instead of happy brides. I told hubby I can forgive but never forget.

Darlest,
Hope things will go according to your wish. Remember stress can affect menses too. Perhaps you are too sress taking care of your ger?

Peanut,
But not bad leh... at least you still can take half day half day wor. Me wanna take leave also scared leh... only take if super boh pianz. Even on leave, my clients still call me on mobile and expect me to reply their emails. Hiaz... and their enquiries are not those urgent type somemore.

Snnowy,
Aiyohz... your that aunt sounds terrible leh. Macham tyrant like that. Somemore for your sis to say that, means she really create a huge ruckus during your wedding preps. Lucky it's all over liaoz. Btw, she got kids of her own? Is their wedding preps all so siong also?

Snnowy
wat can we say??? ur aunt is a huuuuge kay poh.. And wat logic that she say can only hav 2 bridemaids?? And mus wear handgloves??? I can't tink anything to justify this.. I tink more of like she tink its nicer so she wan u to do that! Huge kaypoh......

Dymples/Peanut,
She is indeed a huge Kay poh. She had 4 kids of her own. I'm not sure abt their wedding then as I was young and never really paid any attention. But I know the rest of all my cousin wasn't spared. She can actually turned up at their hse on the day of wedding and scold others upsaide down. Both my 2 married cousins' bridemaids were lectured by her on their wedding days. When my cousin hear my story, they already comment I'm lucky liao cos she still show face to my dad by not shouting and scolding at my bridemaids. Huh.. image scolding other people during wedding. Siao right?

peanut,
Of cos wont try to ask u abt it since u dun wish to be reminded of tt.
Why u really sounds so blue today ... doing something u like that cheers u up lah ... be happy everyday!

snnowy,
Sounds like ur aunt quite imbalance. Pity u all to have such an aunt. Maybe the rest of your cousins havent get married one ... shldnt inform her abt their wedding and dun think of inviting her.

My dad's elder sis also said something I heard from my mum and we were unhappy abt. She says my bro and gf shld not sit at VIP table .. shld give e seats to my other uncles. But at another cousin's wedding (rich family), their siblings were sitting at the VIP table and she was quiet abt it.

snnowy
sickening aunty.. she set e rules herself i presume!! hate this type of relative.. as if she's e one marrying off e daughter.

Jo
dunoe.. mayb hormones inbalance ba... everything also 不顺眼 like that.. haiz....

Tink ur aunt says tt becos ur bro's gf is stil not a family member ba.. but then again.. its ur family wedding affair.. she shdn't b so big mouth

hi mommies!

dymples, your girls are gorgeous!! and they all really look like you!

Re: wakodo milk
any mommies here have a spare tin to sell? I am thinkin of letting my girl try wakodo since she doesnt seem to enthusiastic about fresh milk and I am trying to wean her slowly. Please PM me if you have a tin to let go. Thanks!

peanut & snnowy,
Dunnoe issit father's elder sis are always trouble maker.
When I was in sec sch/poly, this aunt loves to call as early as 8+am when my mum goes marketing during weekend. I was sleeping and awaken by her call, she asked mi where is my mum .. I say I dunnoe .. cant hear that I jus woke up .. still come ask mi like u are her daughter u dunnoe where she is .. I answered her my mum never tell mi, how wld I know where she is. Then she went to tell whole world on my dad's side that I am so rude to her. Reputation ruined since then.

Jo
tell u.. she's e 1st to b nasty?? then no need giv respect to this type of people..

Try this:
Last time my aunty came my house when mum was alone and scolded my mum upside down accusing her for locking my grandma dun let her go out (my grandma was senile.. my mum has to lock the gate in case she went out and lost her way.. anyway my mum always at home not as if my grandma was alone). When i got home my timid mum told me about it said she so afraid she hide in e kitchen.. Wah my blood boiled and i gather my cousins all went her shop make a scene and hav to involve e police... ahahaa.. then e kaypoh people gather and watch us quarrel

minky
yah.. so dun offend me hor.. wahahahhaaa...

But i'm not an ah lian hor.. we jus wan to show her some colours for bullying my mum..
I already told my hubby dun try to b funny with me go get a mistress outside cos i'll go slap her until she become a pig face.. wahaha... *evil**

Jo/Peanut,
I think all the father's side sister usually got problem one. My aunt also prevent my sisters from sitting at the VIP table. In a way, i'm glad that she is not my mother.

Minky
why poor hubby?? Anyway he say i'm already so difficult to handle so he dun hav e energy to handle another one outside.. Say until i v jialat wife like tt..

Nini.. cant see yet la.. but i tink Isaac also not those gena bullied type wat so no need worry la

Nut, HIGH FIVE! my hb said the same thing abt me as well... that i am already so difficult... oh well..
as for Issac... he is actually quite a softie...
