Baby J used to drink Gain IQ. But she did not get constipated. Instead she will always 'lao-sai' until her bottom kena rashes and ssoo red and sore. Had to go see PD 3x hor. Somemore that stupid milk poweder keep increasing price. 1 tin of the 1.8kg is over $60. *crazy* Fed-up... now switched over to Progress Gold. So far so good. No more 'lao-sai' loh.

Baby J loves to babble and talk. Even know how to fight with her sisters and shout" Give Me!" *faintz* So young already knows how to fight for her rights. Hub says that I hot-house her wrongly liaoz. Must be due to my work nature... hahahaha...

My gal was on Friso and i mus say its one of the more affordable ones... But last time she drink milk fussy then after change to Gain IQ she seems to prefer it better so we stick to it lor.. Now e constipation issue giv us another chance to change powder again.. wahaha.. but so far she stil not too bad with Friso 3.. mayb taste bud change a bit or depending on her mood.. Anyway if Friso is here to stay i stil hav more than half a tin of Gain IQ left.. haiz.. so waste lei..

she's turning 18 mths this fri, almost time liao. Cos she needs to nurse to sleep and I really need to stop her n let her sleep on her own. Usually I give fm then latch again at night but lately she only want to latch n refuse to drink from bottle. Heard it will take a while to wean them off so getting some tips from mummies here to prepare myself. FiFi, not sure if it teething but she needs to latch quite often lately.
 
peanut and fifi: Not so serious environment, but then hor I only inside class half the time bcos my toddler always wanna go out for the time I am inside its all very fast paced activities like 30 sec to 1 min only...got singing, watch dvd, flash cards, guessing game.

Hiyah pity mine des't appreciate such indoor activities...bring shopping her eyes wide open..

nut: my gerard is like nini where milk concerned. he HATES milk. no wonder he's so short. tried 7 brands on him already - friso 2, friso 3, mamil 2 or 3, dumex AIO, progress, nan 3, nespray, now trying dugro. all useless. in the end, still got to mix with the cereal to feed him. so he eats cereal twice in the morning. & tt's y i have to buy so much cereal. will nini eat cereal w milk?

My #1 took Gain IQ also had mustudy tool till her backside all rash. In the end I gave up on Gain IQ.

My gal is also having milk strike. Last time I can latch her followed by FM feed. Now she fully want latching. But the problem is she cant latch for long, Latch a while, struggle to pull away then 15mins want latch again and the cycle continues.

Can I check how do you all put your bb to sleep, be it nap or night? Last time, Mine can just lie on her cot after feeding and soothe herself to sleep. However now she needs me to rock her to sleep. I know it a super bad habbit but whenevr I put her in cot after feeding, she will cry like mad and I need to carry, pat and rock her into deep sleep before I can put her down again and it is taking up a lot of my time.

my girl doesnt really nurse to sleep coz when she feeds at night, she is still wide awake when i put her in bed. but coz she is so active during e day, she tends to doze off while nursing for her day feed. =P did you try to give FM with a sippy/straw cup? my girl never liked the bottle since she was a young baby. and she drinks well from her straw cup now so am thinking of just starting off from straw cup straight.

speaking of which, can any mummies here advise if i would still need to sterilize the cup if i am giving milk with a straw cup? do i just mix the FM straight in straw cup? i am so clueless about preparing FM!

well, my girl wasnt really that attached but she does look forward to Bf-ing time. esp when she wakes up and if i bring her to my bed to laze around, she will tell me "nin nin" and will cry if i ignore her. haha..i think it will be hardest to wean her off the morning feed instead of the night feed. =P

i have been putting my girl to her own bed after her feed while she is still wide awake. she does have her moods, most nights she is ok and will roll around, sing, babble till she finally falls asleep. the only thing is that i must be next to her bed. sometimes she will take a peek to make sure i am still there! there were times when she cried after a while too, think coz she couldnt fall asleep. i will carry and rub her back awhile before putting her back in again. it can be quite tiring and sometimes i start her bedtime routine (shower,PJs, bedtime story,feed, bed) at 8pm and she is not asleep till 9+!

Mine also dun latch to sleep. Last time she can be like your girl, roll abt and babble herself to slepp. Now put down in cot already wail. No choice but to carry and rock or walk abt in the room. I gave in to sarong the last few night and she sleep almost 10 mins into rocking. It's a life saviour but I do not want her to be too dependant on it. Start carrying and rocking again last night.
In the middle of night she cried a few time in her sleep. Dun know if it due to me leaving her in cot for around 30mins and she wail badly in it.

hahaha... re. sleeping ur gal sounds exactly like mine! For day naps she can only fall asleep on (1) rocker, (2) car seat... last time while shopping she can fall asleep in pram as well but now not so liao.. But come nite time once switch of light, she'll sooth herself to sleep in e cot.. Like urs, roll/babble/sing till concuss.. AND Me/mil hav to be in the room and she'll spot check sometimes as well.. hahahaa... Everything e same! Will whine and wan to get out if she couldnt fall asleep then i've to pat pat her.. kakaka...

i'm zombified..keep waking up &amp; check T's temp..T hav fever since yday... no sign of coughin &amp; running nose... hopefully is just teething... but he got v red lips now... &amp; 2 days bo pan sai...

i have accepted the fact liao la.. fated to have 2 boys. all i hope now is bb stay healthy &amp; be good boy..
 
snnowy, previously we just need to pat my gal when we put her down on bed. but lately it's the same as what u r doing - rocking, patting then can only put her down when she's in deep sleep. the sleep routine somewhat changed when we weaned her off pacificer...

My gal not too bad on milk now.. thou not a big drinker.. And i'm not so worried as well cos she can take most solid food liao.. So if she drinks thats good, if cant finish as long as not too much i also dun force her. I dun put cereal with milk.. I mix cereal with brown rice bot from Chinese med hall and bring it to boil, and its not given daily cos she may get sick of it.. its once every 2/3days
 
alibaba, my gal was sick last week too and it started with fever and very red lips too, then excessive drooling which we thought teething oso. then brought her to PD the next day cos rashes surfaced out and it was HFMD.

Hope T will be ok soon... sorry, not trying to frighten you, but do watch out, cos HFMD is back fiercely again.

My gal hor also dunoe if she recovered from cough not.. Jus when i tot she recovered.. last nite while sleeping 1+am she starts coughing quite a bit again!! Wah now i hear her cough my heart wil jump.. so last nite din sleep well cos gek sim her cough is back again.. Morning told Mil and i'm trying to blame on e watermelons my hubby has been giving her lately (in attempt to cure her constipation) but she said day time ok lei.. sometimes at nite if aircon cold she'll cough in her room as well.. But problem is i dun blow e aircon direct onto her and its not v cold. But i did notice after i switch it off she stop coughing.. So i also not sure is it really caused by cold air.. Haiz..

slp pattern
day nap am once if long 2-3hrs will skip afternoon nap. night time slp with his last milk feed.. if my maid pat him to slp, i tink within 30mins gao tim.. hehe.. if me, dun pat him to slp. i let him toss &amp; turn the whole of queen size bed &amp; he can slp at an odd position... duno y i tink he dislike blanket, always get out of the blanket... ev night mus wake up to put him back to his pillow cover blanket.... -_-"
 
alibaba, watch out if he drools alot, cos could be mouth ulcers... do take care.

pnut, ya lor, we tink its cos of the tutu oso, her sleep routine all haywire liao, last time PM she can nap alot, now sometimes short nap or even no nap. haiz... but no way we are giving her tutu again, it's so hard to kick, haha

&amp; i agree abt watermelons worsen nini's cough. Try dilute a little prune juice into nini's milk for constipation. Or try giving a little thawed yoghurt.</font>

oh dear, T having fever plus constipation is bad coz with pooing, his heatiness can b rid off his body faster.

How's abt his urine? Must make sure he drinks more water &amp; urine more.

Try dilute a little prune juice into his milk for constipation. I give abt 20ml prune juice to make 210ml milk.</font>

my mil bot prune juice for her yest,, tink only dilute with some water.. but she say my gal no like lei.. Anyway i tink if cough not yet completly recover, prune juice also a no no..

Aircon.. umm.. i dunoe abt dirty or wat.. but i do use humidifier so it helps to prevent air from getting too dry.. Somemore e machine is jus next to her cot.. Haiz.. lets hope its jus simply sensitive throat and not a relapse..
 
pnut, does nini still eat cereal? the nestle prune cereal like not bad leh, my MIL said my gal will always poo when she eats that prune cereal.

my gal v fussy in terms of cereals.. so far i tried a few she'll only take nestle cereal (not prune flavour) + brown rice nia.. So other than that it'll be alphabet pasta or mee sua or tongxin hun..
 
My gal more or less officially 1 nap a day liao.. i used to try to force her nap once in morning and nex in e aftern.. but found she has been struggling a lot refusing the naps.. whereas if i jus let her be.. come afternoon time she'll b more willing to sleep.. and its usually ~2hrs.. Haiz.. there goes more of my free time.. Sianz...
 
pnut, how u cook the alpha pasta? i bought a pack long ago but dun know how to cook, haha... everytime i jus cook for her either mee sua or porridge only, so boring... my gal oso quite a fussy eater
 
Jes.. i boil e pasta until it's soft.. pour away e water and add in a bit of chicken or pork soup from previous nite and bring it to boil.. then add half a bottle of either Heinz mum's receipe beef bolognese or beef&amp;veg cassorole then can liao! Of cos you can jus put the sauce alone but with the soup it'll be nicer! Easy..

For me, normally I DIY the pasta sauce (tomato + potato + any green vege + cheese)

Yup. that time I fed baby J the Jap FM, Wakodo. No issues with it. In fact, I find that baby J's skin is more pinkish now. hehehe... dunno issit becos of the milk leh. But cos it's so ex, plus I tink since baby J should be taking stage 3 FM, so I changed her to PRogress Gold. It was hard to wean her off initially. Had to do it slowly over a couple of weeks. For example, the first week I will substitue 1 BM latch on with FM. Then slowly increase till she totally wean off. But there were battle times when she refused to take her FM and will start to cry and touch my breasts indicating she wants "neh-neh".

Oh really yah... thks for the info. At least now I know what was causing her diarrhoea. Currently I'm giving baby J half progress and half Gain IQ cos I bot so many tins when they had sale. *faintz* Will so wasted to throw, so I mix the FM's. So far she no issues... thank goodness.

Oh.. your bb experience same prob with Gain IQ yah... maybe like what Fifi said could be the probiotics.

Could be becos when using air-con the air becomes more dry. Can try putting a humidifier in your room? WHen my girls are sick, I will out a few drops of eucalyptus oil into my humidifer. I find it helps with their stuffy noses and cough. You may wanna try it.

Baby sleep pattern,
Baby J's night routine starts with a warm bath at 8.30pm. Followed by milk. Cos she co-sleeps with us, I will lie beside her and play my iPhone till she falls asleep. When she is really tired, she will fall asleep whilst suckling her milk. Else she will give me her bottle after she finishes, then she will babble, play with me abit then roll around the bed till she finds a comfortable spot. Usually by the time she is fast asleep will be about 9pm.

When I spoke to the nutritionist from Abbott who called me to offer to send me a tin of the new Gain IQ (this was some time back), she did mention that some kids need some time to get used to the probiotics. Hence, they do recommend to mix the old formula (with no probiotics) and the new formula (with probiotics) till the kid is able to get used to it. However, for my friend's kid, seems like not much help.

last time i pat J to slp/nap..
Nw his afternoon nap i place him in his cot bed and he nap himself. If he make noise i use the hanger and beat my bed to scare him...
Then at nite usually he will slp while drinking his last feed.

I did mix baby J's Wakodo FM with the Gain IQ. At first was ok... but after I switched over totally to Gain IQ, she start getting diarrhoea. About every 2-3 weeks sure to 'lao-sai'. It got sssooo bad till got to see PD 3x. Then nowadays her buttocks skin like super sensitive. So I gotta use special barrier cream given by the PD. Cannot use those normal Pureen or Dropolene brand. *aarrgghh*
