GlenE nurses helped me to massage my breast, clockwise. it's quite hurt, but helps. massage harder and more where you can feel a block. once the flow started, you won't hurt any more. good luck.

mornin mummies,
just did a 4th feed since midnite. hubby and i are sooo tired aft our 1st nite home with our princess. hubby cannot take it, KO-ed. just put baby to sleep.

thanks mummies for all ur encouragement and advice. i can tahan my breast pain, but its my nipples that are getting really sore despite applying nipple cream and letting her latch properly.anyway, have asked hubby to get a small tin of formula milk later to standby as i notice her lips getting quite dry, hope she's not getting dehydrated.

the good news is that she finally pooped (lots!) early tis morn. hubby woke me and i have never been so happy to smell poop.

Felt really excited for you that day & your labour was vy fast too! Heidi was so rosy & pretty..

Are your parents coming in to help out?

Actually we have milk in our breast during our pregnancy & during the first few days, breast will feel soft.
This is helpful as it gives bb time to practise, to stimulate milk flow & it gives our bb a great sense of comfort & the urge to suckle.
Should you think bb is hungry or dehydrated, do supplement her with small amt of FM.

morning mummies,

Celebrated my gal's 1st month yesterday. Was rather fun with lots of ppl we seldom get to see coming over to share the joy with us =)

But I was down with 39.3 degree fever.. quickly went to see a doctor before my guests turned up. Haiz~ was shocked to find out that it was breast infection that contributed to such high fever.. *faintz* doc mentioned it is very common in breastfeeding mothers and probably coz of over pumping/cracks in nipples etc.. real pain leh one side of my breast =/ so if anyone feels that ur breast is abit swollen and reddish with pain, pls see a doctor immed (i didn't want to see a doc at 1st coz of my gal's celebration but hubby insisted n dragged me to the clinic coz 39.3 degree scared him off)

thanks, thats wat Dr Chan advised too, to supplement with FM until milk supply comes in. but i will continue to let her latch on first if i do intend to give her some FM.

my parents are preparing my confinement meals and my mum and sis comes over whenever they can to help out. but hubby and i are on our own most of the time.

So tired today. Somehow think my baby is 'easier' to manage in the daytime than night time. He was fussing and wailing again yesterday nite sighz..must really let him differentiate between day and night...

glad: for the baby full month cake to eat at home with rest of guests ordering from eatzi.com.sg (part of jack's place) I find their cakes really beautiful and inexpensive. Visited other sites but all so-so. I ordered once before so they are reliable and cakes turned out nice. I feel safer with someone I have ordered before.

For cakes for giving out i chose Melrose. Affordable too.

Hi tea also a gd idea, but bcos i have about 70 guests, I split 2 sessions lunch and dinner, my side and HB side. Otherwise messy and house also cannot host so many guests.

glad..my gal drinking EBM 80ml @ 3weeks old

Jjmon..how long is yr duration for next feed? Max is 1hr..but for FM i will throw away n make need one, cause FM got baterial very fast n create wind. EBM if she cannot finish, i will try to feed her again within 30min, dont want waste.

Duration between each feed..if she is awake, is 1.5 to 2hr. If sleeping she will wake up every 3hr for feed.

Haru, try not let Heidi get use to sleep in yr arm leh , if not u will have a hard time. They feel scare n insecure when u put her down, so will cry. U need to swaddle her & put beansprout pillow on her tummy..then pat her to sleep. Or maybe hug her in bed then move away when she doze off. if u carry her, then put her down, that motion will wake her up n she cry, then cycle repeat.

But if u refer to u carry her to sleep, then put her in cot to continue sleep then is ok. But in long run still need to train her to sleep on bed n pat to sleep. If not as our bb get bigger..it will be tough on us.

I got mine after my csect for #1.Gynec just put on it for me.I reused the binder tis time.
If u want,i can get for you too since we stay so near.Then u dun hav to make a trip down jus to get one.I have the tmc card.. tink can help u save abit too.. keke

It is nice to have your family helping you out,
do rest while you can as the night shift can be rather straining on you or hubby.

I think what Dr is trying to meant is that because breastfeeding is a learned skill & it takes time,
any nipple pain can be very discouraging & many will then give up totally.

Im not too sure if your sore nipples are caused by what reasons.
But I referred to a breastfeeding book this is what they mentioned..
Hope this helps!

* intense, toe-curling pain;
* pain throughout the feeding or between feedings;
* broken skin, blisters, or colour changes;
* a burning sensation during, after, or in-between feedings;

<font color="0000ff">Shallow latch is one of the most common cause of nipple pain.
Some telltale signs are:
* a nipple that emerges from your baby's mouth oddly shaped, with its surface at an angle, like a tube of lipstick;
* a vertical or horizontal crease on your nipple, or a scab that develops on the face of the nipple.</font>

For alcohol in the confinement food, they advised to wait till about 3 to 4-hours later then BF. But usually, most of the alcohol should be "burned-off" during the cooking process. Unless your CL adds it in only at the last stage. Then the alcohol content will still be high.

Happy..my gynae didnt order binder for me. I bought it at the pharmacy cause my frez say that with binder to suppor the wound not so painful.. I feel very warm cause no air-con..so remove after 1 week. eeeeh..I got no tummy , after Vera out, my tummy flat liao, feel like wasting $ buying the binder.

Sorry. I was so busy with baby that I can only come online now. I got in a lactation consultation to help me with latching baby. she is very good. After an hour with her, I almost get the hang of it. Practice makes perfect. So slowly building up confidence. But very happy that baby got the colostrum.. very precious milk. If manufacture, one ounce can cost $80. It is all worth it!

This is my birth story:
11am Gynae put in tablet to dilate the cervix. Advise to come back at 8pm to ward in.
12pm go Taka for lunch and shop at cold storage when start feeling strong mensus cramp every 5 min.
2pm Reach hospital with cervix dilated 4-5cm! In extreme pain
5.30pm Delivered Minnie Mikayla 3.2kg 51cm.

Vincy & Happy: Thks for sharing! I expressed 70 ml just now and let baby drink through bottle for the 1st time. Phew though he fussed a bit initially, he was able to drink fr the bottle. But he still not full so I latched him on for another 10 min. At least now I roughly know how much roughly other babies drink. Gee my pumping per session is not enough for even 1 feed.

Hopefully ss will increase! But is interesting to note that means usu when I latch him on for abt 15 min, it means his intake must be more than 70 ml, so latching is more effective than a pump haa.

JJmom: No swollen feet but got back aches sometimes. Hiaz..miss my massage already!
Duration between each feed (latch on): Abt 2-3 hrs. Trying to see how I can stretch longer but not successful coz sometimes baby just refuses to drink more when he is full.

Cookieoreo: Thks for sharing...got a blister in nipple hiaz but i guess nothing serious. Hopefully doesnt get worse. Sometimes feel like a cow!

update for myself>
1st day of discharged from hospital, i heard from my hb tat my mum asked him not to slp with me.. duno for WAT reason.. maybe Pantang.. & i need to shift to slp at the baby room which is easier for me to move up & down. i gotta manage myself the night through. even though the maid is slping in the same room with me. But she need to slp. Hence, i was all alone tat night.. feeling v helpless.. bb keep waking up..& i gotta latch him & make FM for supplement as my SS aint enough for bb.. dint get to slp thru the night... V TIRED.
Next day morn hb came over to check on me before work. saw me weeping. guess i scared him.. that night he slp with me in the bb room. but still i'm coping myself. cos he need to work the next day.. i am adjusting myself to this now.. panda eye mummy now.. try to slp during the day time when i can...

milk SS>
intial few days, i keep latch him before his FM.. & pump til siao only get 10-20ml nia.. now 6th days, i finally got 60-80ml. so happy.. at least my effort didnt go down the drain.. hoping for more SS will come in..

burping problem>
i realise it's so hard to burp my boy... ev time after each feed, we will try to burp him. it's either he fall aslp or jus dun burp after some times.... sometimes after one feed, he will burp so loud. but most of the time, nv burp & we give up let him slp..

GGRRRLL!! i m super frustrated.. having pains since 4.30pm.. but it is very tolerable leh. timing it and its abt 13-15 mins interval. finally got so frustrated that i called KKH's hotline. the nurse said my contractions not pain enough! told me to wait till more painful.. i think i lost my mucus plug this aftn some more.. cos all of a sudden panties got a lot of mucus!

Dymples, u think Sunshinekid popped liao ah.. wahahah.. left u shaking legs..

Amazing, the LC came to ur house on the wkends? wah they work 24/7 one ah?

Alibaba, i read from a book that bf-ed bbs dun burp as much.. may be that's why Trysten isn't burping much. Hang in there!

Dymples, the contractions stopped liao leh... grrr.. was so consistant for 5 hrs then stopped.. grrrr.... can't he just gimme a clear sign? I dun want him out yet but i feel that he is toying with me!!

Hi Dymples, cos baby quite big. If dont induce and wait till full term may end up e-csection. So induceat 38 week once head engaged. Ya.. it was so fast.. 3 hrs! Cant believe it for first child.

Hi Haru, she is recommended by my gynae lisa chin from Gleneagles. She is good! gave me lots of assurance and confidence in breastfeeding. The nurses n lactation nurse at hospital not very good at teaching both my baby and me to BF. But she charged $120 per hour for weekend. But its worth it for my precious baby's first milk. Normally she dont work on Sunday. But I really need hep before engorgement sets in and learning gets more difficult.

She is a nice lady. You want her contact?
