hi mummies...
toking abt getting help or not during confinement, I personally think shld get some help no matter what. Though like what Chilipadi said, its not that tough looking after a newborn, but after delivered the mother shld rest as much as possible so as to recuperate after all the loses of nutrients and energy from the body.
During my first preg, my mom was helping me out at my place, but as I don't want her to be too tired, I woke up in the middle of the night to help her feed the baby and also woke up early in the morning to tend to the baby, not to mention the afternoon part as well. So in the end I feel I didn't really "pu" very well.
The whole experience of having a newborn at home can be very overwhelming to many. I have girlfriends who called and said they are too stresses out (even when they have help). I myself was overwhelmed and didn't expected it to be like that. And if ur bb is the cranky type.. it will be worse.
Especially for those who intend to breastfeed, it can be tough too. Latching on ur baby helps to save alot of time on cleaning bottles and pumps. But then u'll have to be awake when the baby awakes. If you are expressing your milk, then it'll take abit more time, as u'll need to clean up after that. And if you are also feeding your baby, then you'll really have no time to rest. Imagine, feeding the baby, pump milk, clean up and sterlise ur stuffs. By the time u r done, the next feed is almost up (remember newborn drinks at every 2hrs interval).
So my personal advice to all, you are already very xinku to go thru this pregnancy and delivery, be kind to urself and get some help.
