hi to all mummies whose little tods is feverish.

Just wanna to share what I learn yesterday cos my gal had fever since Monday.

Viral fever, it will stay and goes up & down for 5 to 6 days b4 it goes away. Only panadol given, and some cases Dr goes antibiotic. My gal did a blood test last night and she just down with viral infections and antibiotic needed.

Rush my gal to TMC 24hr clinic yesterday evening. Her fever was 40 degree when I reach home at 7pm and the next dose for panadol is 1 hr later.

The nurse give me a very good explanation on controlling the fever.

Fever Pattern
From 5pm to nite (probably early morning) - fever is the highest.

Need to give panadol every 4 hrs in the night even if the fever is not high.

Eg:
8pm
12am
4am
8am

If day time, fever not high, can drag the interval to 6 hrs. This has to be done over 2 days to control it. If u miss any dosage in the night, it might be there for another few more days. Set alarm to wake urself up.

Temperature goes up fast, but take 1 hr to go down by 0.5 degree.

So take panadol, 1 hr later, temperature reduce 0.5 degree.

You can also do these 4 things.
1) Light clothing
2) Aircon
3) Bathe in lukewarm water
4) Forgot liao, think is sponge ba
All the above will help to reduce 0.5 degree in 1 hr.

Another thing, you can take panadol and bifen and suppository all together. Just remember, different medicine with the same usage (eg: reduce fever) can take together but same medicine must keep to the recommend time interval (eg: panadol had to keep min 4 hrs from the last intake)

So bottom line, don't let the fever go up. Got to control it.

Sorry for the long post. If don't understand or got question, I can call up TMC to check.

I think is a very important knowlegde that we parents know how to handle fever.

something to share...

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike
English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la casa.'
'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.'

A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?'

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups,
male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether computer'
should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give
four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that 'computer' should definitely be of the
feminine gender ('la computadora'), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is
incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible
later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending
half your pay check on accessories for it.

(THIS GETS BETTER!)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine
('el computador'), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they
ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a
little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.
